I was going to give this shop a four, but I decided that after revisitng them with a second problem, they deserve a five!
When I first went there, I had been rear-ended, so I was getting my front and rear bumpers fixed. They did a good job fixing my car, but they left paint splatters all around my trunk/hatch on my black interior. I mean, yes it is a mistake, but at this shop I would have expected them to notice that. Anyways, i took it back and they wiped it all up for me.
So my car was making a funny clunking noise when I went over bumps, and after I tried to fix it, I realized that it must be something that wasnt fixed properly from my car accident. I took my car back to them (this was my re-visit), and they found that my muffler was loose and that was what was causing the noise. Without hesitation, they took my car in ASAP and had the noise fixed for me within about two hours! My baby is now good as new.
They are helpful, quick, and relate to their customers well. I would definitely come here again. When they fixed my car, they were even nice enough to order some upgraded pieces and fix some paint chips on the front of my car (due to rocks hitting it when I drive on the freeway). I highly recommend this shop if you are in need of repairs!
I got rear-ended on the 280 S right before Winchester and then witnessed a 5 car smash-up while I was pulled over exchanging information with the other driver. Be careful on your way to Valley Fair folks!
Anyway, if there are no serious injuries, the worst part of a car accident is the freakin' hassle. Insurance agents pretending to be your friend and trying to get you to settle right away, people fronting that rear-ending you is somehow your fault, rental agencies trying to charge your credit cards for fees the insurance company handles - all badness!
But Kim's was the most hassle-free part of the whole ordeal. I got a quote from the friendly James, the afore-mentioned shady car company sent a shuttle and I was on my way. My CR-V was done two days later and was good as new. They even gave me free touch-up paint for some previous damage. This shop is clean, upfront, quick and does quality work.
In fact, my husband will be gong there tomorrow to get a quote for his front bumper. And now for my second public service announcement, should you find yourself behind a Rosendin Electric truck - get the heck over because they think putting a ladder in a garbage can in the truckbed is a fabulous idea!
Getting in to an accident is never a fun thing, but Kim's Auto Body takes away some of the stress. Finding a good body shop is not an easy thing to do, but I'm very happy to find such a great body shop.
Upon visiting them to get an estimate, I was immediately greeted with a hello and handshake from both James and Charles. This set the tone and I knew I was in good hands. As the other yelpers have reported, they are very professional, lay out all the details, are willing to meet your requests and go beyond expectations. James and Charles are very knowledgeable in the work they do and will answer all the types of questions you have about the process and work. They also offer a "VIP style" shuttle service which is always nice and can provide a great reference to a near by rental. I am very pleased with my overall experience and their workmanship is more proof of a great job. The car looks brand new, like nothing happened, and upon receiving it, they had washed and dried it (exterior AND interior).
I will not hesitate to come back again and recommend it to others. Thanks guys!

I've never given an Auto Body a good review let alone bothered to relay any positive review until now. Kim's Auto Body in San Jose is professional, friendly, and the BEST customer service I've experienced in a very long time. (They picked me up at the airport! Who does that anymore?) It goes without saying, they have over 30 years of experience and explained exactly what and how they were going to repair it. They didn't make me feel inferior because I was a woman and didn't know much about auto repair. I did a lot of comparisons, but my decision basically came down to how they treated me and customer service. I left my car in excellent hands and the end result was just like new.
This repair required a lot of coordination with another shop. They worked and communicated together to ensure the repair/installation was done properly and timely. They kept me in the loop at all times. Although I was traveling for almost 2 months and couldn't arrange anyone to pick up the car, they stored my car the entire time until they picked me up at the airport. These guys are AWESOME! James and Charles definitely takes care of what's important; their customers and their autos, in that order. Thanx again, you guys are the best!!
After my husband hit another car with mine while parking (shortly after I warned him he was cutting it too close I might add) we had to find a body shop to get the car fixed. The fender was completely smushed in on the corner, scratched up a bit, and generally not so hot looking. Additionally, someone had also keyed the entire left-hand side of the car. We took it to Kim's for an estimate, which came in very low. They were very analytical and professional, using software to accurately determine the potential cost. This is very refreshing as a number of places just eyeball the car and give you a number thinking they can hose you. Anyway, I digress....
We ended up taking the car to Kim's because their quote was incredibly reasonable. They even offered to buff out as much of the keying as possible for FREE so we could wait to have the whole side re-painted (some of the key marks were quite deep).
When my husband when to drop the car off, they were nice and gave him a ride to work. The car was done on time and they did a great job on it. They could have been like one of the dealerships or other body shops and told us we needed a whole new bumper but they didn't and now we have what looks like a whole new bumper without the new bumper cost. I was really impressed by the friendliness, honesty, and professionalism and highly highly recommend Kim's.
I took my IS350 in for some work on my front bumper + windshield replacement in Sept 08. Service was great and the quality of work was top notch. Really fast turnaround time, and their shuttle service makes things even easier.
I was so impressed with their work I asked James if they could also paint/install my TOMs body kit, and I was very happy with it. I'd highly recommend this shop.
I parked my car at the parking lot next to the MacArthur Bart Station after dropping my dog off at her doggy day care. When I got back to my car after work, I found my passenger side window shattered to a million pieces by a cylinder block. The cylinder block was sitting there in my passenger seat and the interior of my car also got scratched up. I was looking for an auto body shop that would do a good job for a reasonable price and found Kim's Auto Body on Yelp.
Kim's Auto Body met my expectations and more. They quoted me an awesome price and I knew I wasn't getting ripped off (being a woman this was very reassuring). They were professional, friendly, and honest. They fixed my car in a short period of time and took care of all the insurance. I didn't have a thing to worry about unlike other places I've been too. Not only did they fix my window and the interior, they even touched up the scratches on the side of my car which had nothing to do with the accident.
I would definitely come here again. Two thumbs up for Kim's Auto Body!
Kim's auto body ROCKS!!!! This has been the most professional experience I've received from an auto shop. I've come to notice that most shops care about profit margins rather than quality of work or customer service. Not at Kim's Auto Body. James (the manager) has great communication skills (speaks perfect english which is a plus) and doesn't make you feel like you're being deceived. He'll layout everything for you so that you'll understand what works needs to be done and how much. He'll even set things up with your insurance company to make sure your out of pocket spending is kept to a minnimum. Some other stuff to note out is free shuttle rides and the apple juice they leave out for their customers. Theres no other shop in town that can compete with that.
I am going to be honest in my review here, no fluff around this. My car was hit for the third time in three years, this time a truck hinge backed into me and dinged my front hood. Luckily my friend got the license plate number and I was able to report it to their insurance company. I only had liability coverage so this was the only way to go.
I randomly ran into James, the general manager at Santana Row last week. It has been close to eight years since we were in college together. He told me he had a shop, and I decided to give him a call. I told him I needed two estimates based on what the insurance company wanted, and he told me to just give him the insurance company's contact number so he could handle it. A minute later someone from Hertz came to pick me up and my car was ready to be fixed.
He confirmed all information with the claims examiner and he actually quoted lower than what they quoted. In about only about 2-3 days I received a call that my car was ready. It looked like the car I pulled off the auto dealer lot 8 years ago. He even helped me pull up the back bumper free of charge. I just had to sign a one paper and I was off and going.
I would recommend Kim's Auto Body to anyone that wants no hassle service without the difficulties in dealing with corrupt insurance companies. James and Kim's Auto Body just goes straight to the point, straight towards customer satisfaction.
Kim's autoboyd is the best body shop in San Jose. They are fair, high quality and friendly. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I'll be honest, as a guy, I don't know much about cars. A few winters ago, I was up in the bay area and some id*ot hit my car. After speaking with the claims people at my insurance company and with a few friends, the name that kept coming up was . . . you guessed it, Kim's Auto Body. Because the insurance company suggested it and a few close friends did also, I knew this was the place.
One of the great things about this place is it is family owned and has been for however many years. In regards to quality and making sure the customer is taking care of, this is a high priority for them because they have been an established business for quite sometime along with the majority of their business seems to be word of mouth!!
A few days later, my car came back in pristine condition! I was amazed because it was as if the accident never happened *wishful thinking*.
Kim's Auto Body, I thank you for taking care of me and even if I sent you 100 referrals, that still wouldn't be enough for the gratitude and appreciation I have for your company.
Got rear-ended by another car and took my car to Kim's based on its yelp reviews. I must agree the service is 5 stars, James and Charles are helpful guys and my car was fixed within a week. They had to replace my rear bumper and a couple things under the bumper, (impact bar, hangers, etc.) They ordered new parts and their paint job was spectacular, matched my paint exactly, even with the metallic bits. I have a 2007 Hyundai Elantra.
They do pick up service as well and were very friendly when explaining what was broken. Definitely deserves a perfect rating. Do not hesitate to go to this shop. Had to sign up for a yelp account just to give them a good rating.
Recently, we were involved in a fender bender and after viewing the Yelp reviews, we decided to fix our car with Kim's Auto Body. We were not disappointed. They made the experience very easy and the price was reasonable. We didn't have to do much with the insurance company as James took care of all of that. Kim's Auto Body was professional and efficient. And the car looks almost brand new!
I came in to get some advice about what to do with the scratch on my bumper because a co-worker had backed out into my car in the parking lot. There was no dent on my bumper and I was able to scrub the black marks off with a dish washing scrub--a no, no, I found out later--because it took off the top clear coat. Therefore, after reading all the great reviews in here, I wanted to ask Kim's auto body if I could just buy wax or polish to fix this problem and do it myself...and the young Mr. Kim told me that polishing should bring the shine back on the bumper. He brought out his buffer/polishing machinery and squirted some polish on my bumper and then polished/buffed away. In a few minutes, he was done. I asked him to give me a receipt so that I could give it to my co-worker and he said that it was OK and that I didn't have to pay anything. I was very impressed with the customer service he provided me. I was at first hesitant to just drive there to ask a question but I am glad now for I could have made my bumper look even worst doing it myself! Thanks Kim's Auto Body! I will definitely recommend your shop to anyone who needs help with their car!
Its hard to find a good place for body work but I know I've found one here. James is honest and the price beat every other place. I found Kim's Auto Body by chance and I actually brought my car in for my window and not body work. In any case, I'll be sure to bring my car here from now on. I dropped my car off at lunch and picked it up after work. I was told exactly what they would do and they did exactly that. I would definitely recommend Kim's Auto Body to anyone.

honestly, its scary for girl to handle auto stuff... especially getting an honest price quote and honest service. you can most definitely count on this place for TRUE quality work.
I met James, the general manager, through my work and asked him for a quote on the spot to remove the spoiler on my car, weld the holes, and repaint the trunk. He gave me a quote and told me to bring the car in. I decided to shop around for quotes and Kim's Autobody was the cheapest. Although i'm pretty anal about my car, i decided to give them a try. I dropped off my car Tuesday morning and it was done the very next day. They got started on it as soon as I dropped it off and even offered to give me a ride. The paint matched perfectly and the work that was done seems flawless. James is a very straight forward and honest guy. I will recommend my friends and family to this place and wouldn't hesitate to bring my car back! BTW, this is my gf's account.
