I can still be a kid! Yes, I can! "Farm" is a tad deceiving because what this is, is a whole lotta fun with some non farmy things.

I first came here in the off season. We stumbled on it and didn't really know what it was all about. The ice cream was not in season, so we settled for lunch in the country store. The store had souvenirs, candy, and some locally made foodstuffs. They also have some sandwiches and lunch items, which is what we settled for. Good stuff. We made a note to come back in season.

Come back in season is what we did and boy, I am glad. Fun times!! We came here with 2 of our friends (we, being me and my husband) and started out with food first. They have an outdoor food area with some fried seafood, corn on the cob etc... I had already eaten some, so I just had the corn on the cob. It was good. Very soft and buttery, but a tad expensive (it was like $2 or so for one piece). Our friends had fried clam strips which did indeed look delicious..

Next, was mini golf. I am a sucker for mini golf (as is my husband who self admittedly took all of his dates there in a past life).  That too I felt was expensive ($11 per person).  18 holes. I won! Yay! The mini golf course was pretty fun with some creative holes. There are 2 courses to choose from.

What was next, you ask?!?!? GOATS!! I love goats. Love them. I can't explain it, but I do. I don't know what kind of goats these were, but they all had really fat bellies. They came up the fence and let me pet them. Yay!

Next up, the arcade. This was the place for the boys.  Since we came with another couple, I had to laugh at how excited the boys got. It wasn't the best arcade in the world, but better than your carnival type arcade. We had some fun playing the games.

Save the best for last right? Ice cream! Isn't that why a lot of people come here? It was swarming with children and the line was long, but we all wait for it. They had a fall special with apple pie and such which was so good.  The servings are humongous. Our friend got a small which was the size of most large ice creams I have seen.  Just the right thing to wrap up the day.

There is more! We didn't get to the batting cages but plan on going next season!

Kimball Farm is not your average farm. In fact, it's not a farm at all. This is a veritable New England style tourist destination. But actually, quite a charming one at that. Way better than Six Flags, but just as family-friendly and they don't charge you arm-and-a-leg admission! Where else can you find balloon rides, bumper boats, arcade games, mini golf, batting cages, farm animals, fried foods and ice cream all in one spot? It's like kiddie heaven. Amazingly, Kimball's wasn't mobbed when we visited in the late afternooon even though it was a perfect fall weekend. It was also quite clean (again, surprising!).

Our first stop was the grill, because I was starving. I ordered a half pint of clam strips (you can also get bellies) and they were hands down the best clam strips I'd ever had. The batter was really crisp and not too oily. Nom, nom, nom. The boy had the scallop roll plate and that was equally delicious, served with a side of fries and cole slaw.

After stuffing our faces, we stopped to pet the goats. They were quite fat and waddled amusingly, but I digress... I really wanted to try the bumper boats, but it was a tad too chilly, so we settled on mini golf instead ($11/person). There are actually 2 courses to play on and they are quite nicely done--impressive landscaping with waterfalls, bridges, and even a mine "cave"! Even though I'm a terrible golfer, I had fun putting my way through the 18 holes.

More fun ahead...the arcade had lots of old school and new school games suitable for both kids and those who are just young at heart. Skee ball, air hockey, trivia, shoot 'em up, racing, etc. The good thing is that you don't need a pocketful of quarters to play because this arcade has swipe slots for a "debit card" that you can refill with cash. This also means that you can save your points on the card :) Smart.

After all that play, we were ready for dessert! Now I'd heard of Kimball Farm's legendary ice cream but I was NOT prepared for the giant portions....$4 for a "small" cup that was at least 3 large scoops of ice cream! What a deal, but I dare not imagine what the "large" would look like.... The immense selection of homemade flavors made it tough to choose too but the ones we tasted were all delicious. There were also seasonal specialties like apple crisp a la mode. Now I know why the goats were fat. We waddled away happily but swore off ice cream for the foreseeable future (or at least until our next trip to Kimball's).

Kimball Farm, you are just ridiculous.

People, please listen. I am a big eater. I challenge people to eating contests on a daily basis. I am very easily able to recognize large portions of food and without hesitation, say "no problem, I can finish that."

The SMALL ice cream from Kimball Farm is over a pint of ice cream. I'm not even exaggerating. I gasped in horror/amazement/excitement when I saw it. Then I freaked out. Had an anxiety attack. There was no way I could finish it. For the first time in God knows how long, I couldn't finish a dessert!

Then I tried the Mocha Crunch- coffee ice cream with chocolate covered toffee pieces. I rarely eat actual ice cream (always frozen yogurt), so a combination of treating myself to the real stuff while it also being homemade and delicious was just... words escape me.

Oh, I finished it ;)

My first trip to Kimball Farm of Westford was loads of fun, but a bunch of that was thanks to the beautiful weather and the great company, cause there was a lot of waiting to be had here...

We decided to get the Give Me Five for $30 apiece which would grant us five of the following activities/snacks:
   * 1 round of Waterfall Run mini golf
   * 1 round of Forbidden Mine mini golf
   * Bucket of balls at the Driving Range
   * Round of 9-hole Pitch & Putt
   * Bumper Boat ride
   * 1 regular ice cream, frappe or regular sundae
   * 1 $5 Play Card good at the Olde Sawmill Midway
   * 1 Balloon Ride (Counts as two activities)
   * 1 Admission to Animal Adventures

I wanted to play mini golf, go on the bumper boats, and fly high in the helium balloon... that would count as four, and I'd have one to spare for ice cream!  They offer mini golf for $11 the first game, bumper boats $7.50, but the two of them together for $17, so that would mean the last three or two activities of the Give Me Five bracelet would cost us $13.  The website said that a ride in the helium balloon was $15 for 8 minutes.  So that sounded like a deal!  (More on this later...)

Bumper boats was fun!  You do get wet from the splashing caused by the impact, but if you have enough foresight you can stick the stuff you don't want to get wet behind the counter where you bought your ticket.  They have quite a lot of boats, so many people can get on at once.  I highly recommend a trip on the bumper boats; it is especially fun if you came with a bunch of folks that you know to aim for!

The Helium Balloon was by the driving range, and they take 4 passengers at a time max, along with the pilot.  It didn't seem to be an eight minute ride, but the wait was still pretty long.  You don't have to go and pay at the register between the bumper boats and the mini golf courses... they'll take cash on site... $10!  Hmmm... that lowered the value of two of my activities to $5 apiece since I had paid ahead... But the ride was a neat experience, and I would go again.  Especially if it is only $10!

The crowds were huge at the mini golf course, especially after lunch!  But the holes were interesting enough - we headed through the Forbidden Mine course.  I got some pars, and a couple of high numbers (5-7).  No holes in ones this time for any of us.  But the crowds thinned out as the afternoon progressed - guess they got tired of all the waiting between holes - all the better for us!  Oh, and did you know golf balls float?  (no, it wasn't me!)

As for food, their menu is not the healthiest.  Think fast food and fried foods.  But I must say they did have a veggie burger option, and their plates came with a watermelon slice.  The scallops in the fried seafood plate ($18.95) were so tender and moist!  The plate also came with 2 large fish fillets - also moist and tender, and some fried clams which had trouble standing out amongst their seafood brethren.  Fries were okay.  The coleslaw the vinegar sort.  Friends say the chicken tenders were dry.

I eyed someone's orders of onion rings and waffle fries - such huge portions!  And for $4.95 according to the menu!  I regret not giving them a shot.

I liked that among the condiments (ie. ketchup, mustard, relish, mayonnaise by the grilled food pick up; bbq sauce, honey mustard, malt vinegar by the seafood pick up) that they had wet naps for our use.  This was great, because the nearest bathroom was on the other side, on the way to the mini golf/bumper boats.

Later, we joined the crowd which were actually a multitude of lines for ice cream.  I had their autumn special of a spiced apple sundae with vanilla ice cream... yum!  But they charged me $5.25 when the menu above stated that sundaes were $4.95 tax included... was it because it was a seasonal special?  I don't know... oh well.

Okay, next time I come, I'll try the Waterfall Run mini golf course (although the mine course had plenty of waterfalls already...) BEFORE lunch (a later lunch?) to hopefully miss some of the crowds.  And also, I'll have to convince my play-pals to share in some fried sides - namely the onion rings and waffle fries...

Oh, and reminder to self - order the black raspberry ice cream!

If you think Richardson's is great, you ain't seen nothing yet!!

My friend & I went to Kimball Farms yesterday for some mini-golf, bumper boats & ice cream. We ended up getting there a bit after 2 and the place was PACKED. It took us a little while to find parking!

We decided to do the $17 package: 18-holes of mini-golf and 1 ride of bumper boats each. We did the Fallen Mine course (which is the harder one, apparently) and we definitely found it hard! 2 balls in the water (one had to be replaced) and 2 hit into the bushes. But it was still fun! The woman in front of us did get hit in the head by a wayward ball (not from us!) so just keep your eyes & ears open!

The bumper boats were by far the best part!! We had such a great time, although we felt that the water area could have been a BIT bigger, as they can fit a TON of boats on there and you run out of room! We were laughing the entire time though. (Although I kept wondering how safe it was to have all these people holding onto lawn mower engines and inhaling the fumes...)

And then the ice cream. Whooa nelly! We each got a small (less than $4 per person) and Wowza!! These servings are HUGE. If we lived clsoer, we would have taken them home. But as it was, they were half melted before we could fully start eating them!

We were both disappointed that they didn't have any hard yogurt flavors and only had vanilla & chocolate soft serve, so we went with regular ice cream. I got the special Strawberry Vanilla (I asked for rainbow sprinkles, was told they had none and said "that's ok" and got chocolate sprinkles. Was kind of disappointed there!) and my friend got Moo Tracks (think Moose or Fudge Tracks). Both flavors were delicious and we were over-satisfied less than 1/2 way through!

All-in-all, totally worth the 45-minutes from Boston and the $20 per person!

Kimballs has been a local favorite for years.  It is getting even better now.  The Grill serves fried seafood and chicken, along with burgers, hot dogs and other outdoor delicacies.  The portions are huge (my wife and I always share a plate) and the food is excellent.  The ice cream continues to be the best in the area.

Kimballs is in the process of building batting cages, adding another activity to an already full roster: mini-golf, bumper boats, a helium baloon ride, an arcade, an animal show and a driving range.  This is a fun, but somehwat pricey, family night out for us.

Some of the best ice cream I've ever had!

Kimball Farm does homemade ice cream and it's outstanding.  And the toppings are amazing as well!  Do yourself a favor and get a huge sundae.  The hot fudge is some of the best I've ever had.  The caramel and whipped cream are a close second.  All are made right there as well.

The star of the visit?  Mocha Almond Assault.  WOW!  Black raspberry and cookie dough were good as well.

As an aside from the ice cream, the mini golf is potentially the best course I've ever played.  It's unique, well thought out, and it looks like you're in the middle of nature the entire time with waterfalls, logs, cliffs, and plants.  Really exceptional- and there are two course options!

This place was a pleasant surprise. We opted for the mini-golf/bumper boats combo (maybe we'll give the balloon ride a go next time) and it was a great way to spend a hot summer day. The bumper boats were a blast. I instantly reverted back to 10 years old along with pretty much everyone else there and had a great time. The mini-golf Mine course was a fun, one of the better ones I've been to in the MA 'burbs. The only issue, they don't have any sense of crowd control and you can back up 3-4 groups at a hole. Fun if you have a chatty, excited group of kids behind you to keep you entertained, but I imagine for most it wouldn't be as enjoyable.

The ice cream was good, nothing to write home about but nice on a hot day. They have daily specials, however, when they run out they still leave them up there which can be a bummer when you get to the front to order to find out that banana is gone. The portions are huge, the small was easily the size of a large/extra large elsewhere. A small cone and a small cup ran us a lil over $7. Drinks are way overpriced so it's a good idea to pack some cold drinks.

The staff were friendly and helpful despite it being one of the hottest, most humid days of the summer and them not having any AC and limited fans (and being local teenagers who really don't have to give a crap about their job, but these kids do). All in all, it was a great day and will definitely be a place we visit again.

You could literally spend the whole day here.  From mini-golf to bumper boats to the animals to the ice cream, there is something for everyone.

We played on the waterfall course and it was really well-maintained and fun.  Our only problem was the annoying family of 12+ (I kid you not, grandma and grandpa joined in too) who clearly had never been and cut in front of us and other groups.  Annoying and rude!  So when one of them told me to get out of his way so he could take a picture, I ignored him.  It's a golf course, not a photo booth.  Their daughter would also go to swing when we were still on the hole.  Crazy!

Anyway, my friends and I had a blast playing mini-golf.  I won so that was even better.  The highlight of the day was bumper boats though.  It's like bumper cars, but in the water.  If only we had done them after the mini-golf, I would have bumped that family harder.

We were only there 2.5 hours or so and we had just had cupcakes elsewhere so we didn't get any ice cream.  We were bummed so now we'll have to go back to sample some next time.  We also missed an animal show supposedly but there were staff walking around with exotic animals, such as a fennec fox, that you could look at up close or even pet.  (Never even heard of that animal!)

Prices aren't too bad.  You can do a 5 for 1 package where you pay $30 and pick a combination of 5 activities or ice cream.  We did the bumper boat and mini-golf combo for $17 which wasn't too bad.  We went late in the day on a Saturday and the parking lot was still crowded, but the place is huge and you can spread out.  We'll be back!

The best place in the metrowest to enjoy old-fashioned family fun. I've been here several times and have always had a blast. I'm not a fan of mini-golf, but the 2 courses look awesome. I like the bumper boats best, but make sure to steer your frenemies under the waterfalls to get them drenched.

The ice cream portions are HUGE and amazingly delicious. The kids size is a normal stores large. I warned you.

Despite the awesomeness, Kimball is really pricey. $7 for a round of bumper boats? Only use this place in moderation.

Yummy ice cream.  Huge though.
When I get ice cream in cities, I usually get a small.
Kimball farm serves huge portions.  I got a small and it felt like a pint. As good as it tasted, there was no way I was gonna finish it.
Kiddie size is pretty big too...
Best place to go when home is the next stop and I could freeze the rest. :)

As a newcomer to the Westford (in fact, Boston) area, Kimball's was a nice find and really a relief, especially after two hard days of nonstop house-hunting and having three kids dying to do something (anything) besides see another house.

As for the ice cream - I got in line and the folks in front of me were getting the Kimball Special, which appeared to have at least three gallons of ice cream in it - when my wife said let's share a banana split, I said to myself it can't be as big as the KS - was I wrong - instead of getting the kids each their own cones (thank goodness someone warned me to get them kiddie size), we should have all shared the Split - very good, but way way too much.

Still great place for fun and food - the kids loved the bumper boats - I loved the fried scallops - definitely will be on the 'visit regularly' list. Oh, and don't expect to park close - across the street or down the road will work, just keep the younger ones in hand as LIttleton Road can be a bit busy.

I can say with the utmost confidence that Kimballs has the best ice cream I've ever eaten.  There's really no need to go into much more detail - as most of the other reviews have done so.  The portions are enormous and there is a good list of flavors (my favorite is the chocolate raspberry swirl).  I will wait in any size line to have this ice cream (and I have).

Kimball's has been drawing big crowds for years, and it's no wonder. The ice cream is pretty good, and servings are enormous. "It takes a village.." and all that. My kids say that Erickson's in Maynard has better ice cream but that's never stopped them from being excited to come to Kimball's!

What makes kids love Kimball's? Miniature golf (two courses), and bumper boats, as well as several other activities. Their most recent addition is an outdoor grill, which serves passable burgers, hot dogs, and similar fare. "Kid-friendly" is their middle name.

Altogether, it's a fun family outing, and you'll be surrounded by many other families doing the same.

Ice cream? Check. Mini-golf? Check. Driving range? Check. Pitch and Putt? Check. Petting Zoo? Half check. Bumper boats? Check.

If you are ever in the mood for any or all of these have no fear! Kimball 's farm is flat out awesome! The ice cream is great and HUGE. I order a kid's size and my wife and I split it! They actually have 2 mini-golf courses, the bumper boats are tons of fun. I have yet to actually see an animal that wasn't sleeping yet (lazy animals!), but it's pretty cool they even have it.

The driving range has both mat and grass tee boxes. We never had to wait for one to open up yet. The Pitch and Putt is just great. It has always been meticulousy maintained, and they have lights for us people that go after work. Sweeeett.

As someone who worked there throughout high school, we often speak horribly about that first job we had, but Kimball's is not only a great place to work, but a great place altogether.

I loved it when it was just a good old fashioned ice cream stand.  It still is, but there's also a driving range, pitch and put, and bumper boats during the season!  The ice cream is delicious, and made without the artificial coloring or flavoring (Kahlua Crunch is made with real Kahlua).

The downside; very popular, especially on weekend.  I remember working there on Sundays in July with two employees on each window, and the lines would be pouring out into the parking area.  On these days, be prepared to wait up to an hour standing in line.

My favorite time to stop by Kimball's is in the fall, when they start serving apple crisp.  Add a scoop of the fall season's pumpkin ice cream, and I'm in heaven.

As much as I enjoy little ice cream parlors in Boston and other cities, I think the best way to enjoy a "Sundae Drive" is through the outdoor experience that an ice stand gives you.

For all of those that can't find Kimball Farm behind all of those trees in Westford, it looks something like this.  What you can't see is the huge amount of land this place has for the driving range, pitch and putt, mini golf, bumper boats, and parking.

I really wanted to draw a cow too, but that would have just been ridiculous.........ridiculously cool.  Unfortunately, I didn't have the time or patience.

This place is huge for this type of facility, almost as big as my artistic ego after making that picture.  The driving range is okay.  There are a bunch of tees, but nothing really that special out in the actual range.

There are two mini golf courses and I warn you now, if you are looking for friends that have already started a game, there is a chance you will get lost.  I mean its not like it ever happened to me or anything.  The courses are nice and have some good obstacles and some purrrty scenery.

The bumper boats ride was mildly enjoyable, but seemed to end very quickly.  Also, prepare to get at least a little wet.  I have no idea why I ever thought I would stay dry, first the sweaty behind from the person before me and then the splashing from the actual ride.

The ice cream here was pretty good.  It was rich and very creamy.  I got the cookie dough and was very satisfied.  This place was a fun time, especially when the tab goes to your company.  It doesn't get five stars because even though I was there on a free ride, looking at the prices, it was pretty expensive.  If you want to have an enjoyable day, but are ready to splurge a little, take a trip to Kimballs.

P.S. Feel Free to copy the picture down incase you get lost.

My work had our most recent outing here and in the seven years I've been here, this has by far been our best outing ever!

We went on a beautiful, sunny, summer day. We had most of the place to ourselves. They set up tents and picnic tables for us. I did just about everything they had available there -- driving range, 9-hole par-3 golf course, and of course, BUMPER BOATS!!! It was a blast. My co-workers and I had a wonderful time.

At lunch, the KF employees grilled up a delicious lunch for us. They had burgers, hot dogs, lobster rolls, potato salad.... almost anything you could ask for. They also had a bar (though the drinks were weak and poorly made... I'm not gonna complain that much because they were only a few bucks each). The country store there is also really cute. A few of my coworkers picked up some jams and other assorted goodies.

I hope we go back there next year! Super fun and for the first time in a while, I didn't mind getting up for work that morning!!

I love Kimball Farm!

My first time here I was on a ride on an extremely extremely windy day, and decided to do something different and ride out on 225 to Littleton, which was hill after hill fighting a 30mph headwind.  I thought I was going to die or end up stranded in the middle of nowhere, i started bonking hard.  But then I saw Kimball, a beacon in the darkness.  I bought myself a frozen yogurt, i dont even remember which kind, and used their incredibly clean bathroom.  It gave me the energy to make it home unscathed, so Kimball Farm sort of saved my life.  Now, on that day I would have just gone with 4 stars, because all of the ridiculously preppy families in their polo's and white hats looked at me in my riding gear like I was some kind of two-headed monster.

HOWEVER, I returned to Kimball Farm's Littleton location yesterday.  After a day of apple picking and playing with pumpkins we wanted some ice cream.  Well, we maybe wanted some ice cream, because it was FRIGID out.  Since we were already in that general direction, we decided to go on a Kimball Farm expedition.  An hour of being lost in the general vicinity of Kimball Farm we found it, and there it was, a shining beacon in the darkness and despair again.  The boy and I split a large peppermint patty chip frozen yogurt which was delicious, but WAAY too big.  There were these tiny, adorable peppermint patties in there.  Seriously, the large is about a pint of ice cream, you've been warned!   Our friend got a small coffee which she proceeded to not eat, and then get soup instead, so we ate some of that too.  My waistline probably won't thank me, but whatever, ice cream is yummy.

I was skeptical about ice cream on a freezing day but the country store was so warm and cozy and had ample seating, so the ice cream eating was totally comfortable.  When we got back outside with bellies filled with cold ice cream it was a different story, though...

I haven't checked out the BUMPER BOATS yet but it is on my agenda on a warmer day.

A fraud!!!! misleading!!!!

I ordered a "small" and I couldn't finish it!!!!

and I was really unhappy about it... because it was really good.

I was a bit skeptical...  I've had my fair share of ice cream... good bad... filler, lots of bit with lame ice cream, not enough bits and too much ice cream, gelato from rome, frozen yogurt etc.

this is REALLY good ice cream.  Yes... I ordered a "small" for myself and a coworker and yes, the cup is small, probably something that you'd see like 2-3 oz, you know, the little round cups that you might pay $4 for of gelato, and they scrape the top so you don't get too much.  In this case, it was more like just something to hold the larger thing with as really less than 1/3rd of the total volume was in the cup.

I ordered peanut butter chocolate chip......  and the ice cream was peanut butter, but not colored like peanut butter(no artificial flavors?), and there were plenty of chocolate chips...

the chocolate was good.  not overpowering, but in every scoop of that little plastic spoon it was impossible to not get a couple chunks.  they were all nicely sized chunks as well.  I know some people are real fans of the varietal sized chunks, but these were pretty small and uniform... good quality control.

So I sat for about 10-15 minutes and chatted and ate the ice cream....  and I couldn't finish it.  I don't know if it was heavy, or that I had eat lunch not too long ago(doubt it because I only had a salad), but it was good, and I was unhappy that I had to dump it....

... and to think that I was uncertain as to whether a "small" was going to be enough.

I don't plan to be in this area often, but this is definitely somewhere I'll be stopping next time I am.

awesome mini-golf course- you can choose between two "routes": waterfall way or through the abandoned mine. delicious food! i had the seafood and although it was a little pricey...it was worth it. there is also a tent-covered area full of picnic tables to eat at. bumper boats, petting zoo, driving range! so much fun. also, the kimball farm country store is really adorable with lots of homemade and nice quality products. they also have a loft of vera bradley, which i love.
parking can be a big hassle & be careful crossing the busy street from the second parking lot!

Know what I love about Kimball's? Everything. You can really make a whole day out of your Kimball's visit. Of course if you pick a warm, sunny summer day you will see a lot of people share in this sentiment. Unlike some ice cream places with two or three windows, Kimball's has at least 6 lines going at any given time in the summer months. And they move pretty damn quickly. The ice cream here is phenomenal. A newbie might be turned off by the price initially, but once you see the size of your cone it will seem like a deal. Once you taste your ice cream it will seem like the deal of the century. The sizes are huge and if you can finish a banana split, then you are truly an ice-cream consuming force to be reckoned with.

After polishing off your ice cream, burn off some of those (very worth it) calories by hitting the driving range or the pitch and putt. You don't even have to be that great. No one cares, everyone is just there to enjoy the day and won't laugh at you when you whiff and spin yourself around in a circle before falling off the driving deck. Seriously.

Driving and pitch n' putt a little too intense? Take it down a notch with some mini golfing. Its a fun course even for those of us who are not so talented with the more skillful, less whack the hell out of the ball side of golf.

Working up a sweat with all this activity? Hop in a bumper boat where you are sure to be splashed if not cornered under a trickle of water by some jerk of a friend who is going to be walking home in another minute.

All in all, a great place. If you have kids, they even have a little farm area with goats and chickens. But I don't think that they like ice cream. Not that I would ever offer it up. They also have a grill out back with things like burgers and dogs. Definitely, definitely worth a trip out to Westford to see this place.

Kara S. asked me yesterday if I had ever been here, as we both had our first mini-golf game of the season this past weekend. Anyway, her question made me realize that I had never reviewed Kimballs even though my current picture shows me enjoying an ice cream from there! And a note about that ice cream, it's a kiddie size, no lie.

I consider this place the Disney Land of Westford. Mini-golf, bumper cars, ice cream, animals, a gift shop....seriously. Why waste money on airfare and a hotel when you can just come here?

So, first, the mini-golf. Love that they have two courses to choose from and that they're both fun courses. You can even remix the course,  past adventures have included shooting the ball down the flight of stairs, and taking a shortcut through the bushes. What I don't love is that it's like $10 to golf, which is a bit pricey. They also get really busy at times, so you can prepare to wait a bit between holes. Wow, that sounds dirty.

The ice cream is delicious, but the portions are way too big. I generally beg for them to give me just one small scoop when I order a kiddies, otherwise it gets wasted. The flavor selection is fantastic, but if you have issues making decisions, as I do at times, it can be a bit overwhelming.

Overall, this is one of the things I miss now that I no longer live in Acton. However, I believe that we'll be making the trip out there at least once this mini-golf season. I think it's a summer time requirement, and to cure my ice cream anxiety, I'll decide right now to go with Almond Joy. Now watch them not have that flavor...

A genuine institution for people in this area... we await the opening of Kimball's with more anticipation than the first day of summer, or the last day of school.

their ice cream is unbelievable... best ice cream I've had in my life, and this is after dating someone who worked in a local favorite down in Savannah. No matter how far I travel Kimball's tops them all. Their portions are ENORMOUS... a small will last me two days worth of dessert (i usually bring half of it home and stick it in the freezer, good thing I'm close by!).

Their driving range is always fun, nothing beats feeling better about yourself after gorging on ice cream by hitting balls at the kid in the ball collecting cart. It can get buggy out their at night: BRING BUG SPRAY!!!!

Mini golf is a fun and fairly challenging course. you have two choices, both are equally awesome.

But can we get back to the ice cream... YUM!!! decided to go there tonight just from THINKING of this place!

We faced the sort of horrible choice, right at the outset of our mini-golf game, that no one should ever have to make - the Waterfall and go over, or the Haunted Mine and go under. Figuring that with the pending seasonal changed and reversion back to Standard Time we'd have enough darkness in the near future, we chose "over". So did everyone else, apparently. Everyone wanted to cherish those final slanting rays of autumnal sun - so there was a huge pile up.

Only later did we learn that there's no real appreciable difference between the two 18 hole courses. We were trying to figure out how they crammed all 36 holes into such a compact space, with no overlap - we figured "Haunted Mine = underground". This was not the case, to our disappointment. There's crisscross, sure, but at no point do the two courses share holes. No overlap. And at no point do they go underground. And they use the term "Waterfall" pretty liberally here. But no matter - last days of autumn,  joy joy joy.

With sunset descending, we availed ourselves of the ice cream. My more knowledgeable Lady Friend strongly advised me to stick with a small dish, SMALL dish, if I wanted room for dinner later. Figuring we wouldn't be returning to Westford any time soon, I went for broke with the large - a difference of 39 cents in your wallet, and about two tons in actual ice cream. I've never seen such a mammoth portion portioned out in my life. It had heft, and density, and was easily enough for ... well, just enough for me. It must have been a pint, easy - quart maybe. Not a half-gallon, no, that would be ridiculous!

Like the dog I must have been in a previous life, I kept eating long past satiety, long past reason. Dinner, yes, was ruined. No concern of mine. The chocolate with shaved peanut butter portioned through liberally - this was a dinner for kings.

Kimballs ROCKS!  Delicious ice cream... wonderful mini-golf course (actually there's 2 ways to go).  There's also a putt-putt golf course as well as bumper boats. And a cute gift shop.
I have been going here for years, and I can't recall any negative experiences.  Grapenut ice cream is my fav, with Orange Pinapple coming in a close 2nd.
Expect VERY long lines though, so try to go at an off time.

Kimball Farm = Family Fun Factory.  No Seriously.

Large driving range (mat and grass), mini golf, volley net, petting zoo (ok 4 goats and a rooster in reality), bummer boats, summer time food (hot dog, bbq, watermelon etc), and of course the monstrous ice cream.  I can barely finish the kiddie size serving of the decadent ice cream so I am afraid to find out what the "Kimball Special" contains.

Would you drive 40 minutes for ice cream??

I would....

This place is well worth the drive, ice cream is tasty and the quantities are huge.

A little pricey, but isn't everywhere!?

KImball's is quite an institution, and you'll find lines all summer. The ice cream is good, and they supplement that business with mini-golf and a petting zoo.

I used to like coming here with friends after my dog's agility classes in Littleton, but Kimball's now has "no dogs" signs. Very disappointing.

This place makes some of the best ice cream I've had in the greater Boston area, but be warned - on a weekend, they may run out of your favorite flavor. We went early this Saturday evening and they were out of both chocolate peanut butter and malted moo crunch, both of the flavors I wanted. I settled on mint and cookies, which was very tasty, but not what I was craving. Even though the servings are huge, they wouldn't let us put more than one flavor in anything but the large size (which is ridiculous). The mini golf is fun and elaborate, but a bit mosquito-ridden and damp, due to the many waterfalls and "rivers." I'm looking forward to trying out the less crowded Carlisle location, which my friends have been to multiple times (and attest that there are both larger portions, the availability of more than one flavor even in the kiddie size, and fewer people). Worth a trip if you are looking for some extras like golf and whatnot, otherwise I'd suggest hitting up Carlisle.

This location of Kimball Farm is their first and biggest. It's not just an ice cream stand but instead it's a smorgasboard of FUN. They have a massive ice cream stand (which is usually about ten lines with 20 people deep in each one) to complement their growing summer amusement complex, complete with pitch and putt, driving range, bumper boats and mini-golf.

It's an excellent place for a summer picnic. Which means large crowds and huge corporate gatherings hogging all of the rides. If you aren't fond of long lines and tons of people, I highly recommend a weekday trip early or late in the season (avoid late-July until school starts). Or just go for the ice cream--that's worth the wait in line any day.

Huge word of caution--the ice cream portions are MASSIVE. A junior is easily the size of a large at most places. A small is the size of your head. A large is the size of three people's heads. I only exxagerate a little. But oh my is it SO good. I really think this is some of the best ice cream in the country.

I love Kimball's! There are not too many places out here where you can get out in to the great outdoors and have some fun. They have two really good mini golf courses, as well as bumper boats, a driving range, and a 9 hole pitch-and-putt.

This place reminds me a lot of Richardson's up in Middleton, where I used to go fairly often with my HS buddies. Richardson's has better ice cream, but otherwise Kimball's takes the cake. Not only do they have better mini golf, but the place doesn't stink of cows :)

Additionally, my company recently had its summer outing at Kimball's. As part of the package we had all you can eat BBQ and ice cream buffet, and unlimited use of the whole facility. Although it was almost a total washout that day and no one got to do too much golfing, the staff was still very accomodating and there to help us out. The good news is that the rain kept away the crowds that afternoon.

The only downside about Kimball's is that most of the parking is across the street. It can be pretty dangerous to cross Route 110 there, since it's on a bend in the road and the cars go fairly fast.
