4 reviews for Kim Son Mongolian Bbq & Chinese Restaurant
i used to be a dedicated white swan patron, but after the recent health inspection issues, i've become a little too scared to go back. now i'm on the hunt for a truly CLEAN mongolian bbq spot.
kim son, while not having a very large mongolian bbq selection, is relatively clean. the sauce area was sticky and a little messy, and there were definitely some toppings on the floor, but the ingredients area was clean and everything appeared to be fresh. plus, i like that the meat is in an entirely separate refrigerated island unit (good for vegetarians), AND i loved the fact that they cleaned the grill after each bowl cooked. they also switch bowls once your food is cooked (good for meat eaters cuz you don't want your cooked stuff to rest in the same bowl that held your raw meats).
we came here on a weeknight for dinner and were the only ones there, but that made the service really good, and we were only charged for 2 bowls when we had 3 altogether. it seems to be run by a family (being from a restaurant family myself, this is a plus to me), and the kids were pleasant and cheerful overall.
i think for the time being this will be my new mongolian spot. it's cleaner than most and the price can't be beat.
Small place, really casual, REALLY friendly atmosphere. They don't bother you while you eat but they're really amiable and always in good humors. If you're new to Mongolian BBQ, they'll ease you into the process of picking your meats, picking your noodles, picking your vegetables and tofu, and choosing your own mixture of sauces (No no no, press the meat down so you can fit more meat!)
I came here with my lovely girlfriend one day and the meat is cut thin so it can be cooked really, really quickly and until your meat is done, they give you egg drop soup and egg rolls. Each bowl at lunch is 6.25 and each additional bowl is 1.00 and you probably won't ever eat more than 2 bowls since you can cram so much meat and so many noodles into one of their large bowls. We were new to the Mongolian BBQ scene, but the chef was very friendly and told us how to get started and recommended certain kinds of mixes of meat and vegetables that people generally enjoy. He also joked around and made us feel very comfortable and at home at the restaurant.
It's very fun to pick your own arrays of meat, vegetables, and noodles, and change up your sauces to experiment with the different flavors. It's a great place for a date since it's fun, delicious, . I definitely recommend it to anyone in the Sacramento area.
Still love this place!
I eat here as much as I can, haha...
The prices are GREAT (you can get an entire meal under $10) and the food is also great. I usually eat the Mongolian BBQ, and with that you also get soup, an egg roll, and fried rice -- all for only about $5-$8!
They're chinese food is also good... and I have still yet to try their boba drinks and pho.
When I go there, it's usually with 2 other people... and for all 3 of us, we have never had to pay more than $24.
Can't beat that!
It's kind of weird that I didn't even try the Mongolian BBQ stuff here. As I was looking through the menu, I noticed that this place had quite an array of Vietnamese food. I ordered the bun with pork and an egg roll because I can never pass up bun.
For a HUGE bowl of noodles, pork, eggrolls and a bowl of soup, I paid $10 including tax and tip for lunch.
The place gets pretty busy during lunch time. Most people only get the Mongolian BBQ stuff. My friends ordered that and they said the lamb tasted weird. My pork was delicious.
Good, cheap, fast.
By the way, they also sell a limited variety of boba.
