1 review for Kim Chee 7
I passed by an L&L earlier the same day and thought I haven't gone there since I've been back. But Kim Chee 7 is about to be my new local plate lunch spot.
I mean, it was THAT good.
They have this Special for 2 on the menu that's $30...and for plate lunch standards, that's pretty pricey I think. But let me tell you...this special can easily feed 3 hungry people.
I chose this to share because it had 2 servings of every meat on their menu - kalbi, bbq chicken, meat jun, shrimp tempura, and chicken katus. I mean really...it satisfied my entire korean bbq craving. In addition to having some rice and veggies of course.
The kalbi was like perfection. Nice thick pieces, and all tender. The shrimp tempura was exactly what I was looking for, and the chicken katsu was not your usual greasy crispy piece of katsu. It had some additional seasoning going on in the breading...it was really really good.
(Note, the katsu does not come with the standard katsu sauce...but you really dont need it. Their "special" shoyu type sauce is good enough).
The bbq chicken and the meat jun weren't necessarily things I was looking forward to eating....but after taking a bite, I was sure glad it was part of the special.
I am definitely coming back.
Definitely!
A few additional notes:
- You can generally get a good size plate lunch from anywhere between $7-15. So on the low side of Yelp's "moderate" pricing scale
- The place is kind of small, so when I say good for groups, I would say comfortably no more than 5..though you can probabaly get the one area that they can add a small table to comfortably fit 6-7.
- The Kim Chee there is not spicy at all, well at least to the adults. The 2yr old at the table was munching away even though he first said it was "hot"
