My husband and I stay at the Grand every summer. We always book a bike and stay package. For the price, it can't be beat! The accommodations are clean and up-to-date. The pool and hot tub area is inviting with beautiful views of the mountain. I just wish they would keep the pool open later. You swim at your own risk anyhow. One downfall...there aren't enough ice and vending machines throughout the hotel. The building is quite large and you are often stuck with a long walk to/from your room. Perhaps secure side entrances could solve this problem?
The staff have always been nice and accommodating. -

I think we have, after staying in a different hotel every time we come to Killington, found one we may possibly stick to.
The hotel is right off of the slopes with a bridge that you cross straight into the ski storage area of the hotel and then get to the elevators. Big plus. The rooms are very big, and they have ovens, microwaves etc to prepare snacks and food and all of that. The murphy beds are actually very comfortable and big, and I dont usually say that. The rooms are clean.
The service is immaculate at all hours of the day and night.
They have DVD rental.
They have 2 hot tubs and a heated pool.
They have a sauna and a steam room.
They have a highly functional and affordable bar and restaurant.
They have breakfast that is yummy hot and cold, and has everything and has good service.
They have fireplaces you can take your drinks by.
One star off for too many kiddies (I know they cant control that, but neither can I.) And because they charge 6 dollars if you open the slippers-that is not ok.
Otherwise, really love it! -

The primary problem with this hotel is that it is cheaply constructed -- walls and ceilings are thin and noisy. Not a good idea, especially for a ski hotel where people occasionally walk around wearing ski boots (like the guy in the room above me at 6:30 on the first morning).
The hotel is very close to the lifts -- you can ski back to the hotel, but you have to walk to the lift. The restaurant seems to be under different management every time I'm here (been here about 6 times over the past 10 years), so it's extremely inconsistent. I didn't eat there this time, so can't comment on it. The gym/fitness center isn't bad -- the equipment is about 10 years old, but still mostly in good shape. It's on the eastern side of the hotel so it is bright and sunny in the morning.
My key card stopped working on the second day of my stay -- not a huge deal, it was resolved quickly with a visit to the front desk, but still annoying. Also, the entertainment center has three items -- a TV, DVD, and stereo. Unfortunately, there is only one outlet with two plugs on the wall behind the entertainment center. Not that you need all three plugged in at the same time, but it was confusing when I couldn't get the TV to turn on (because it was the one of the three that was unplugged).
The bathroom sink drained VERY slowly, which is an indication of cheap plumbing not fitting of a hotel.
Beds are very comfortable.
That's it. Don't have super high expectations, but it's a decent place, especially if you are used to a larger, full-service hotel (as opposed to a condo or a B&B) -

There is much to enjoy and appreciate at the Grand and we felt welcomed from our first moments there. The staff who park your car and answer questions were knowledgeable and helped to help and did not have their hands out if you know what I mean. There was a slight problem with our "murphy" bed but a guy came along in about 10 minuites and problem solved. The rooms are fresh, clean and what you would expect...
The store had a decent selection of wine and beer and sundry items. The Arcade had a good selection on games and looked new. There is a ping pong table right off of the arcade room
The outdoor pool is amazing and the 2 hot tubs were great in the falling swow ! The kids will love it and you will have to work to get them back to the room ! There is also a spacious steam and dry Sauna Rooms next to the indoor access to the outdoor pool. There are various spa treatments as well (next time)
Ovations Restaurant is overall very good.. the breakfasts were delicious and so was the kid's cheeseburger. I'm telling you you cannot find a better one ! There is a fireplace just outside Ovations(a real one !) with couches on either side, etc. Very Cosy.
The bus service to the mountain was about every 10 min. I don't know how it is in the busy season, but we got to and from the mountain effortlessly. You can also store your ski gear behind the front desk which is nice. Overall a great experience and you can't get any closer to Killington ! -

Let me start out by saying that the name "grand" is very misleading. There is nothing grand about this hotel. I called in to order the stay and mountain bike package and was talked into the grand resort by the phone guy who told me that the grand was the best hotel with all the bells and whistles and was worth the extra money. It turns out the rooms are more like a holiday inn. Very small, outdated and not very appealing. Our shower didn't drain properly and we had to call on 2 separate occasions after each shower to have it fixed and finally had it fixed on the day we left. The hotel is so large it also took forever to get from the lobby to our room through a hallway the perpetually smelled like spaghetti. Our stay was in the middle of the off season and there seemed to be maybe 5-10 of the probably more than 100 rooms booked yet somehow they gave us the one furthest from the elevator and with the worst view possible. The only positive thing I can really say is that the heated pool and hot tubs were a nice retreat after a day of mountain biking.

It could have been worse. When we first arrived, an alarm clock in the neighboring room was going off. I mentioned this to the concierge. The alarm clock continued to go off everyday for hours throughout our stay. The restaurant, "Ovations," is more of a barfing ovation than a standing ovation. I should have known from the start when the french onion soup was inedible. How is it possible to be incapable of making something so simple? Everything about this place is dated, and not in a good way. When I say dated, I mean old and strange. The price does not reflect the quality. The ONLY compliments I can give: the pool is nice and you can't beat the location. This place would be most suitable for people with children or no standards.

You would think the place was seriously going to be grand. The rooms are pretty sad-but that's ALL snow hotels/chalets. I mean we're talking murphy bed BUT this hotel rocks becauses ITS so close to the slopes-walk over a little footbridge and your on a lift. The outdoor pool here is enormous and so nice and hot! We did NYE here last year, and it was kinda quiet-but also kinda nice that way. The place is run by teenagers but once you get over that, this is a good spot to lay your head for some nights while skiing/boarding at Killington! It doesn't come cheap, but talk about not having to slep your stuff around...you can even store your board/skis overnight, and never has to come up to your room. It may not be the grandest, nothing really is on the East Coast, but you can have a grand time while staying here and skiing on Killington.

After building up this cozy idea of accommodations akin to the ones in Dumb and Dumber, I found myself feeling the dumbest for expecting anything from the lodging provided at a discount to Bentley alumni. I didn't make it to the slopes, so I had plenty of time to wander around the place. Plenty of closet space, a pull-out couch, decent bathrooms, a gas fireplace and a stocked kitchen are some of the pluses, while leftovers from previous guests, dingy furniture and cold decorations left a pretty sour taste from the minute we arrived. If you're skiing the majority of the time, I guess you won't care about anything except how comfortable the beds are (or are NOT, in this case). There's absolutely nothing to do in the near vicinity. The hot tub is more like a bar with a puddle next to it, and it's a meat market the minute the slopes close. The restaurants are mediocre. The only bar that was worth checking out had a $20 cover - more than any other rinky-dink bar I've ever seen in a major city. It would have been a better experience had I skied, hadn't let all the cars go to the slopes, or been mentally able to trek a couple miles in freezing winds to the nearest non-ski related shop.
