Good weekend spot, great beer specials, wings are more on the bread and less on the meat.

    Still a great place.

My office held our holiday gathering here.  The service was great.  The bartenders were very accommodating and super nice.

The food is decent.  Nothing special.  Just something to munch on while enjoying a few drinks.

Kilarney has been very quiet in my experience. Never gets truly packed, although a place like this must at some time, right?

The prices for drinks are standard, but what I really like is the size. It's very very spacious with at least two floors that I know of. The waiters and staff are professional and the food is decent Irish Pub type of food.

It's gets extra props for letting my monthly Ancap/Economics group meetup and take over the upstairs area.

I've spent many nights here and have hundreds of stories.  The crew that works here is awesome.  I've never had more respect for a bartender than i do for Noel.  This guy has been working at KR since before I was born and goes out of his way to say hi to everyone he knows is a regular.  Just this past week he walked out from behind the bar to give me a hug and wish me a Merry Christmas.  Yeah it can get crowded, yeah there are "prettier" bars with two blocks but this place is an old school classic and a "regular's" dream spot where loyalty is recognized, appreciated and rewarded.

I don't even know how many countless times ive been at this place...It's one of the few places in the financial district that is great quality at a decent price.

It's a typical Irish pub kinda of atmosphere, and if you come here enough its sort of like Cheers, "everybody knows your name!". The bar opens early and closes late. The bartenders are awesome and will make you anything to perfection.

The food is really good, I love the fish and chips and the mozzarella sticks appetizer! A great place to go and hang out with your friends and order a whole bunch of food to share.

I always say "I'm coming for one drink", which NEVER happends...this place just sucks you in... and then you look at the time and your thinking "have I really been here that long". Time flies when your having fun!

A little gem of a hideaway. Wander off the Stone Street Strip and you'll find this one about a block away. Unassuming from the outside, with a 70's/80s sign out front, inside you'll find brick walls with little alcove holes for candles, wide open floor space for plenty of standing and stools/bar tops along the wall for seated dining. Beautiful extended mahogany bar,  right by the door there is a couch coffee table setup (first come first serve find) for very relaxed socializing. There are plenty of TVs around to enjoy sports. Showed up here after work on a Wednesday with a friend, it wasn't packed by any means and I don't know if it does get busy, all the frats and suits are probably on Stone St elbow jousting to get to the bar, bathing in each others spilled drinks, but I for one enjoy not having to wrestle for standing space or shouting to talk to a friend, so ill be back for sure.

Went here for dinner last night - what a great place! Sort of located on a "back street" so it was not full whatsoever....good music, Irish bartender and my food was excellent. I had a California burger, which was on special. Very tasty. Crisp veggies, good quality meat, guacamole and a spicy mayo. I live a block away, so i will be going back!

So I have lived in the Financial District for a few months now, and have been to Kilarney Rose a handful of times. First few times were best, good service, cheaper drinks.

The last time I went, there were two male bartenders working (last Thursday), and for some reason I was getting a bad vibe from them. I was casually drinking at the bar with my roommate, and they both decided to ignore us completely, and I have no idea why. None.

Anyways, We ordered 4 beers total, which came to $16. I still tipped, because I bartended before, and would have felt bad stiffing them totaly, despite deserving it.

Anyways, my roommate and I watched the bartender go over to the register, and enter a $4 tip instead of the $2 I wrote on the receipt. I was kind of in shock, he literally stole money from me. Anyways, it was an extra $2 bucks so I figured not to make a big deal, because I will simply never go back.

So all in all, I paid $2 to never see those two guys again, prob worth it.

I like going here for lunch... sometimes liquid (*cough*) lunch...

They have a few beers on tap, nothing extraordinary, but their food is pretty good.  Prices are what you'd call cheap just off wall street.  I don't hang out in the financial district on the weekends so I can't comment...

Hungry for lunch finance peeps?  Check it out, totally worth a try.

I cannot comment on the food/drinks but I can comment on what has to be the rudest service I have ever seen anywhere in the world.

On a relatively quiet weekday night, I sat at the bar waiting to get the bartender's attention for a solid 20 mins....so I started calling out to the bartenders trying to order a drink....finally after trying to get the attention of the bartender for the third time, a blond lady bartender told me that not only was I rude and annoying, she would be incredibly happy if I left.

Needless to say, I obliged her.

I came here to celebrate with a few other members of the NYC AnCap group a few weeks ago. Apparently, it's been around for the better part of five decades and it undoubtedly has the ambience of a vintage bar in lower Manhattan. I suppose the atmosphere, which I enjoyed, is one of its chief selling points but it also serves pretty decent food based upon my brief experience, and the bartenders are very professional. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience.

This place is pretty big, but I especially love the upstairs seating. There are big couches and coffee tables for large groups and personally i think it gives it a cozier feeling.  The music situation was a bit annoying.  You can tell they had the speakers connected to the iphone cuz every once in a while ud hear the sound of an iphone text message going on the speakers lol.  The waitress was nice, and was straight from Ireland.  Honestly, I didnt take a look at the prices because I didn't pay but I know that the bill was around 80 or so and there was 6 of us drinking 2 pichers of beer and some shots plus 4 appitizers.  So idk i think it was pretty decent.

I like this place a lot.  They aren't over priced and tend to have some fun specials, plus they are near my work but not right on Stone Street which tends to become overcrowded Thursday and Friday nights (moreso in the Summer).  The crowd here is nice and less frat-boyish than other venues in the area.

Solid pub in the financial district area. $10 macallans. But no laphroiag or ardbeg.  Just because its open past 9pm in the desolate financial district warrants this at least 3 stars. at least you know if you're trapped in the neighborhood dying of thirst, there will be at least this place that can serve you (unless its after 1230am).

It's so nice to have the honor of breaking the Kilarney Rose's Yelp cherry.  Located in the heart of the financial district, the Kilarney Rose is no doubt responsible for padding many a business deal between the bankers who congregate here for a lunchtime cocktail.  I'm sure that the KR is also somewhat responsible for many a failed liver, since I've witnessed crusty old scotch hounds signing their social security checks over to the bartenders.  The food is a little sub par, but what does one expect from buffet style bar fare?  It all tastes good after 6 or seven drinks.

It's a downtown institution that annoyingly still abides by the puritanical (and now quite defunct) blue laws by not opening on Sundays.  I'd call it the perfect bar for catching the last quarter of a Knicks game, but not much else.  Since the bathroom is located upstairs and I once had a psychotropic substance of some kind slipped into my drink while I was taking a whizz (woke up 6 hours later in Queens with my pockets slashed), I can't say I feel very comfortable spending gratuitous amounts of time at the Kilarney.  But Mark W. would LOVE this place :)

I won't call this the best bar in the world, and not something that I've frequented with friends. However it's a place that I suppose kinda belongs in NYC history!

I've been there at 8am to watch the FIFA World Cup, 11pm for a beer and 8pm for Linux Meetings. It really caters to everyone. It's right smack in the heart of the financial district and when everyone thought it was going to close down, I know a troop of folk that gathered and tried to figure out how to bring it back. Fortunately it was only renovations and not an actual closing.

It might not fit the new classy mold of the folks that work down here anymore, but it fits NYC best.

Killarney Rose is a classic NYC Irish pub.  Celtic knots and phrases are stenciled all over the interior, and most of the staff are Irish.  If you're lucky, they'll draw a shamrock in the foam of your pint of Guinness.

The Rose is totally different at night versus during the day and early evening.  At night it caters to regulars and randoms from around the area, while during the day it's more of a working class watering hole.  It's definitely a place for career alcoholics and sodden barflies to hang out and get wasted together.

The lounge upstairs is weird; sometimes the door is open and people are inside, while others the door is closed and you'd never know it was there.  It also has its own bar, but I've never seen a bartender up there.

The food is surprisingly okay, particularly the reuben.  It's bar food, so don't expect it to be awesome.  But it does a good job of soaking up the booze when you most need it.

Go to the Rose if you're looking for a mostly-empty low-key pub to sit in and drink cheap pints.  You'll never find a party there, except maybe on St. Paddy's Day, but the service is reliably good and the price is right.  Also, the music is always either pretty good or excellent, depending on who's bartending.

    UPDATE:
I have a drink named after me there!  That's probably really not something anyone should brag about, but oh well.  Go in Thurs-Saturday night and ask Mark for an Abigail.  You might be pleasantly surprised.

I agree with almost all of the posts below.  The Killarney Rose is my Happy Hour go to in the Financial District.  Drinks are Cheap ( I recommend ordering a double mixed drink - served with a heavy pour in a pint glass), they have great music, a laid back atmosphere and plenty of room.  I hardly ever wait for a drink here.

The K-Rose, as we know it, has always been a friendly joint, that for the most part misses the typical finance seen that Financial District is known for.

***Special Tip - order the waffle fries with cheese - yes these are a heart attack waiting to happen, but they are delicious.

Despite it being a mere 30 seconds from my door, it took me more than a year to step inside Killarney Rose. I don't like to pay too much for shitty service and I dislike being around obnoxious drunks even more; so bars have little draw for me.
But now that I have gone to KR twice, it is fast becoming my favorite place to buy a drink with a friend. The staff was extremely friendly to me on both occasions - and what's more they were professional. Coupled with the unpretentious but upscale decor and you've got a damned good neighborhood pub.
If you're anything like myself, head over on a weekday night. Weekends seem OK, but with the typical FiDi clientele raising the noise level, it's not that different an experience from the other meat market pubs in the area.

I happened upon Killarney Rose after a job interview and I was determined to not eat at a chain fast food-type restaurant. Their menu board boasting of blackened catfish caught my eye and I was sold.

The place was packed and I went and got my dish and my two sides. It was quite a healthy portion ... I only finished half of it. I looked around the room though and realized I was the only female (that was not a worker, at least) in the room. I had lots of smiling eyes peering back at me. Nice!

This is the post-work watering hole.  As in, I need to walk out the door of my office building and get my BAC up in 5 minutes so I'm making a beeline here.  The crowd is all over the place depending on the night; some nights my friends and I are one of 3 groups here, and other nights it looks like everywhere else in the FiDi was closed.  Still, it's spacious and you can usually escape to the upper level for some breathing room.

Drinks aren't particularly cheap or expensive - usually $6 drafts and well drinks.  Well drinks are strong.  Their burgers are delicious and if you ask to split one, they will bring you a full platter of fries and sides with each half.

Okay fine.  I also have a huge girl crush on Olivia, the teensy adorable trash-talking Irish bartender.  I'm not sorry.

Killarney Rose is right around the corner from my work and since it is one of the very few places in the Financial District that is not ridiculously overpriced, we tend to frequent happy hour here a lot. Happy hour in FiDi is tough if you dont want to spend too much money or hang out with a bunch of people in suits, but Killarney Rose is a great pub hidden away between swanky bars with $15 martinis or $20 hamburgers. THANKFULLY, this place caters to the less affluent, but more vivacious crowd.
The first floor is always over crowded, so my group always moves upstairs which has more room, couches and is more like a lounge.
The bartenders are all super friendly and a lot of them are Irish, so they definitely add to the pub's atmosphere. Drinks are also reasonably priced, they always have hooegarden bottles for $4, along with a great list of draft beers.
This place is great for celebrations, including St. Patrick's Day. I am a low key kind of person, so was worried this place would be too rowdy on St. Pattys, but this was the perfect venue! While it was crowded, the bartenders handled it well and people had enough room to sit and hang out. And I did have my very first Irish car bomb here, which was much better than I expected!
Their food is also pretty good. I like the nachos and the quesadillas.

Oh Killarney... It was my afterwork hangout place - I was a regular while I used to work downtown, and Dave was my bartender! I was notorious for leaving my credit card behind on more than two or three occassions, and the next day Dave would always have it ready for me to go. :)

We really like this little unpretentious neighborhoody pub. It's much more relaxed and "real" than Ulysses down the street. The drinks are great. And the food is actually quite delicious. I remember the stuffed mushrooms and fish and chips, both yum. The staff is low-key and friendly and the crowd has the same kind of vibe.

We've stopped in for drinks and both lunch and dinner several times, and we always ask why we even ever bother to go to Ulysses anymore...too many naval-gazing Wall St. trust-fund babies bragging about how many hours they put in at the office. Thankfully they seem to sail right past Killarney Rose, which is all the better for us!

It's a regular spot for a lot of people at my company and  that in itself is one of the big reasons I can't stand it. I am sure some of the randoms and regulars Abigail S. mentioned in her review could be people from my department.

Blech. There are tons of other Irish bars in Manhattan and the other boros that are moons and spaceships more interesting than this miserable spot.

A back to basics Irish Bar, mellow-yet-not-dead vibe, you certainly feel you have arrived at a local bar. I will certainly be back :)

Pretty much your run of the mill pub- gets an extra star for good specials ($5 wings, $4 imports). In my 4 visits to the place, I can't see what any of these reviewers are talking about "friendly bartenders"- these guys have the personalities of rotting kiwis. Don't expect any interaction with them outside of ordering your drink.

Fine for larger fuck palaces like Ulysees, but a neighborhood bar simply needs bartenders who you'll like.

    These guys.... you won't.

I came to Killarney Rose to kill time before my reservation at Delmonico's a block away. Though Killarney isn't going to be in any history books for being one of the oldest bars in the city, having been there since the 60s is still an impressive feat. Killarney has two very spacious floors with plenty of elbow room (the second floor has a couple couches but I wouldn't exactly call the whole second floor a lounge). The prices here are average, the bartender was nice, and they also have a good looking menu with more than just fried bar food. With all the room they have I was disappointed to see that they didn't have a pool or a dart board but other than that this is a solid place to grab a cold beer if you're in the downtown area.
