Note to vegetarians like myself: This place is not very vegetarian friendly. They have maybe four vegetarian dishes--however, all the ones they DO have are EXCELLENT.
I had one of the best salmon salads of my life, just as another reviewer described below. Warm, flavorful salmon, fresh corn, lettuce, and creamy goat cheese.
A must-go-to dining establishment!
This is the kind of place that makes Southern coastal cooking such a great experience. I had soft-shell crab over cheese grits and andouille gumbo. Incredible. We paired it with a good bottle of Chardonnay for $18 (Wed is half price bottle day). My wife had sea bass with smoked avacado / shrimp. It was great. Even us picky New Yorkers were impressed and can't wait to return.
The big kahuna burger was nothing special. The waiter was not very attentive. The key lime pie was delicious. My wife enjoyed her salad. I expected more based on previous reviews.
A must whenever youa re here in OBX. Diner type restaurant. Friendly atmosphere great for families and kids. Food is served hot and fresh.Blue plate specials are moderately priced and taste yummy!
Went out on a limb and went there for dinner based on the reviews on here. Much to my surprise the food was really good! It's hard to find good food around here without spending alot of money (though I've found alot of places in the outer banks that were pricey and had bad food).
I had fried shrimp which was very fresh and had excellent seasoning. The fries were very good as well. My wife was very happy with the burger she ordered.
My only qualm was the smell of cigarette smoke wafting in from the bar. It came and then went away as did the noise from the bar. Still I was very satisfied and its easy to ignore this small nuance.
Fabulous meal. Wahoo over creamy polenta and fried soft-shell crab, both were marvelous. Cool-looking place, a friendly waitress, and a great font on their sign. This would be a good restaurant anywhere, but it far exceeded expectations for a beachside place.
Great menu with a good variety! We had a bunch of appetizers and they were yummy! Great service!
WOW. Kill Devil Grill is the best place I have eaten in a loooooong time. The food was to die for - fresh ingredients with tons of flavor, and the service was impeccable. We had the philly cheese steak egg rolls (heavenly), the soft shell crabs over cheese grits and black bean salsa, and the fried shrimp - best I have ever had. Even the cole slaw was amazing, and I don't even like cole slaw! But this stuff was Good. I can't say enough - you must check it out!
This is one of the best in the Outer Banks! As a local, I eat there at least once a week and have never been disappointed. And their desserts are amazing. KD Grill won the "Best Key Lime Pie" in south eastern VA and North Eastern NC. And their strawberry shortcake is beyond description! Best prepared fish around, flavors subtle in all their dishes with interesting specials each day. This is another "never fails to impress" eatery for clients and guests! KD Grill is a major player in the culinary scene developing on the Outer Banks.
So good!!! Burger was very good! staff was friendly food was great!
Ate here over the summer (5 months ago) but I can still remember how wonderful this place was! The menu is seasonal and is written on chalkboards that are seen all around the dining room. I ordered the salmon salad and it was the best salmon salad that I've ever had. The salmon was grilled and warm, and the salad had corn and had a dressing that was loaded with garlic. Simply delicious!
Wonderful!!!! Great lunch specials, My wife's tuna was tasty, the noodle cake it was served on was a savory delight, My crab cake w/ arugula was scrumptious with tomato concasse and a lemony vinaigrette. It redeemed the trip and made me forget about the other horrible cuisine I had in Nags Head.
This place was fantastic. Especially after having such an awful experience at The Sunset Grill. The food was amazing and the service was top-flight. My pulled pork sandwich was great. The chicken wings were amazing. The crab cake sandwich my wife had was great. My in-laws live in the area and the KDG is their favorite. Next time I'm in the OBX, I'm headed to the Kill Devil Grill.
A great little burger joint in the Outer Banks. The front is like an old fashioned diner. I had the turkey burger with avacado salsa and Monterrey jack cheese and it was amazing. The only downside is that the menu is a little limited, but they have several specials up on the chalk board. Definitely worth visiting this cozy little place!
We have been eating at the KDG for the past three years and have never been disappointed. They have a great, casual atmosphere, friendly service and of course the food is great. The fish is always fresh and cooked perfectly. The grilled salmon salad is excellent, and there is a nice diversity of fresh catch each day. The mashed potatoes and fries are great as well. But be sure to save room for desert - the key lime pie, strawberry shortcake and chocolate cake are all some of the best you will have. There are also some nice beers on tap, including Starr Hill from C-Ville, VA.
Fantastic! The Bison burger is delicious, the grilled fish was cooked to perfection and served over awesome cheddar grits and a sweet corn relish. We also had a soft shell crab sandwich that was wonderful and some not to be missed apps too - smoked hot wings and Philly cheese steak egg rolls! Plus a hot dog fries and Sunday for my 3 year old nephew. All top notch !!!!
Awesome! Food is always wonderful and innovative. The diner is on the National Historic Register . Note: not open Sun and Monday
