Too crowded on Saturday.
While this is still a nice place, I'm finding more and more that it's becoming hazardous to come here on Saturdays.
Recently attended a birthday party and the place was overbooked.
Both rooms taken and there were several "floor parties". At first this didn't seem to be a problem but things quickly got out of hand. As I mentioned before, not everyone at Kidsville is there for a birthday party. Some people seem to use this place as daycare. You'll see these people, they'll be the ones sitting on the chairs and couches in the main room all day long. Their kids, running amok, often too small to be left unattended.
1 - Parents not supervising young children. I witnessed a crawler stuck and crying two thirds of the way up the steps on the slide. The kids running up and down the slide said he'd been stuck there for a while. Noticing they urgency of the situation I had to go up and make sure the kid was safe. The parent finally strolled by and dropped the kid off in another room, then went back to couch and buried her face into the daily paper. She seemed "put upon" having to walk across the room because her kid was crying.
2 - With so many groups of kids it was bound to happen. One kid slugged another kid in the face. Obviously this didn't sit well with the kid's father ( and a bunch of concerned parents). The attacking kid hid under a play table, while the limited staff was notified. It took over 30 minutes to find the kids parents. They were nowhere to be found! Then out of the blue someone was identified as the mother. Staff and father pointed out to the mother what happened. "Boys will be boys'" she said. That didn't sit well with anyone and left everyone on edge. One group upset at the lack of concern by the parent, and the other group offended that such an accusation was made. It really sucked as dirty looks were exchanged for the rest of the time there.
Suggestion -
If you wont back off the number of "floor parties" than stop allowing walk-ins on Saturday. Disneyland has blackout dates, so should Kidsville. Hmm, Pump it up looked fun...1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Al A.
We had a membership here when the place was new and my sons were younger. It was popular amongst the local folks with young kids and rugrats.
Well, it's appeal is going the way of Milli Vanilli.
It's turning into a dump, the toys are garbage and the birthday rooms smell funky.
My garage is cleaner than this and I don't charge admission.

Kidsville has been sold & is under new management. We spent the afternoon there today. It's now about 100% better than it used to be.
This place is an indoor kid-sized playground for children between the ages of infancy to about 6 or 7 years old. They have a very cute tiny indoor town set around the perimeter of a large room with a snack bar set up in one corner (a real one) and lunch tables for the parents & kids in the center of the room.
The entry area has a small toy shop. they offer kid's theme parties here so there's a book at the front desk that gives out the info on cakes, party themes and the like.
There are hand sanitizers set up at the snack bar (a nice touch) and two bathrooms. Both kept reasonably clean and well stocked. The interior now looks as though it was freshened up and might have been re-painted. There are numerous recent copies of magazines stacked near the snack bar and the entire property offers free wi-fi.
The women working there today both had cheerful & upbeat attitudes. The costumes for the kids looked to be freshly laundered and well maintained.
My daughter and her friends had a wonderful time here today. So too did every single one of the adults.Comment from Amber R. of Kidsville Playtown 7/23/2009

I'm here for the first time today: with my sister and her daughter..and about 6 zillion little terrorists in training!
There seems to be a pretty good selection of toys..even though many of them are worse for the wear.
The place seems short staffed. You just can't rely upon the parents to adequately police the doings of their kids. Kids were tossing large trucks down the circular slide (parents standing right there watching...mute).
Many of the costumes are torn and ragged.
The snack bar is stocked with nothing substantial...no sandwiches..only chips, drinks, cheese and crackers loaded with trans fats.
If you want anything more substantial...you are required to order out to the mediocre pizza joint that grudgingly services the place. -

Went to a floor birthday party there this weekend.
Besides our party, there was one other and a dozen or so other kids there just playing, so it wasn't too crowded. Lots of fun stuff to play with and keep kids entertained for several hours, especially with younger kids (under 5).
However, there were a few problems.
Some parents seemed to feel it was someone else's job to watch over their kids and proceeded to bury their faces into their laptops (with free wi-fi access by the way) and take a break from watching their kids. Inevitably some kids got rough, or fell down, or got into arguments without any assistance or supervision by their parents. One little girl (about 18 months) fell and bumped her head, crying for about a minute before I felt compelled to offer assistance. After several minutes mom strolled by unconcerned. Other kids were playing quite rough and running roughshod (including in the babies-only area where my 6-month old was sitting) with their parents conversing at a table.
This wouldn't have been a problem if the place had proper supervision by staff who enforced the rules (no running, for example). However the two 16 year olds manning the counter could care less and preferred to shoot the bull instead.
Finally, most of the toys that used batteries were dead and some others were broken with sharp edges. How about a little maintenance?
This place could be great, but the management needs to make some changes. -

My friend had her son's bday party here last weekend, so I took my son here for the first time. At first glance it looks like lots of fun with all the different theme houses and costumes. Upon closer inspection, everything was dirty and poorly maintained. Even though they don't allow shoes inside the play area, our socks were filthy by the time we left. The bathroom could've used some attention as well.

My son is my joy and when we wanted a first birthday party for him we ended up choosing Kidsville. A co-worker had also had one of his daughter's birthday party here and recommended it highly. The staff made the entire process painless from end to end. I came in to tour the facilities and was impressed by the cleanliness and by the sheer amount of stuff the kids can do! When the day of the party came we were able to come in early to set up. We were assigned a coordinator who did everything from cutting the cake to doing crafts with the kids. Our son had a blast as did the other kids, and the party was a huge success! You can also get an annual pass so you can take your kids in to play anytime!

As a caveat, we went to Kidsville on a hopelessly rainy afternoon and the place was PACKED. There was an odd smell in the air. Not really a body odor, but it definitely smelled in this place. The floor is pretty dirty. Again, I don't know if that was due to the fact that kids had been playing on the floor all day or if it just isn't cleaned. I would be curious how clean the floor is in the morning. Most of the toys are on their last lives, and I was actually kind of grossed out by the shape of the costumes. Yuck. The staff was primarily teens who didn't seem to have any interest in children. On the day we were here the staff walked around and texted their friends. This is a great concept, but very poor execution.

The only reason I give this stars is that the kids enjoyed themselves here. Too bad it was almost hazardous with the sheer amount of kids they let play, including some HUGE, OLD ones who didn't have any business playing on stuff meant for the young children and running around practically running over the little ones. I had to unleash the mama beast in me and tell them to CALM DOWN or SIT DOWN! The staff were relatively young...teenagers I believe, and they seem to need some schooling on customer service and facility maintenance considering they didn't do much to manage the place, clean it, and weren't able to provide information we needed! It was a zoo in there and some of the toys were noticeably filthy, with a layer of grime on some of them. I MIGHT go back if it were less crowded and cleaner and all the janky toys disposed of. For the money you pay to get in you'd think they could afford to replace some of those suckers! Anyhoo, I might go back because overall my son enjoyed himself and this is the closest indoor playground to where I live...Next time I might bring a can of lysol disinfectant just in case. Needless to say, there is lots of room for improvement.
UPDATE - Went here again on a weekday with my son and a girl I babysit for. No teenagers working and instead was a friendly woman there...I'm thinking it was the owner but I'm not sure. She seemed genuinely happy to have us there, made an effort to clean up after the kids, etc....all by herself! there was also a mommy group there (a little snotty and not really supervising their kids..but what caaaan ya do?) and i think overall there were like 10-15 sets of kids and parents. I gave this place another star because I think there were improvements, but this place is still lacking an adequate climbing structure for young toddlers (the one they have is waaay to scary for the little ones) and some of the toys still need a facelift. I'm hoping that next time I come back it'll improve even more. -

Great idea. Poorly executed. All the toys were either broken or out of place or out of batteries. It was like a garage sale put on by a family who had 18 children. Plus some of the structures seemed very unsafe for young ones. The little car track was neat but if you are a grown up, you are constantly dodging kids zooming in their little cars, which makes it hard to relax. Their cafe looked scary and I couldnt find anyone to help me anyways. If you want to go to an awesome indoor playground, try Kidventures just south of La Jolla. That place is great!!

I found this place dirty, noisy, pricey. Staff were rude and kids were unsupervised.
