Great place. Reasonable prices, considering they really spend a lot of time on each haircut and check from every angle.

We've brought our 2 year old there 4 times and have been happy every single time. We highly recommend this place.

I still very much love this salon BUT if you want a decent hair cut you need to ask for DEE (the owner). I have noticed every time my son gets a hair cut from Dee he looks great but the other two times he got a hair cut (I don't know her name and she is the only non asian hair technician). My son leaves the salon with a very, very bad uneven mullet. I didn't even notice how bad the hair cut is until I got home and gave him a bath. I need to go back and get his hair fixed. He looks terrible. Basically she gave him a bad mullet cut from the 80s.

Love this place but from now on I will make appointments ONLY with Dee!

We just our baby's 1st hair cut here! He surprisingly did very well and didn't even protest in the least bit and he's 14 months old.

We asked for Dee and she was very patient and did a wonderful job as well. After seeing a few friends' babies get their hair cut too short and look much older, I told her I wanted to keep his hair on the longer side so she just cleaned him up a bit. He still looked like himself but with trimmer hair. YAY!

We originally came by on Saturday at 2:30pm with an appointment but he got sick so we left. It was super crowded at the time too! Today, a Sunday, we came back with a 2pm appointment and there was not even one other child there! Dee said it was nap time.

Went here for little man's second haircut.  We did not like our experience at Kindercuts, and were a little wary to try this place but after the Yelp reviews we thought we'd give it a go.  So glad we did!  He did not cry once, and they did a great job.  I LOVE the haircut.  He was distracted by the jeep he sat in and the TV at the station.  He did so great, and didn't want to leave the play area afterwards.  Definitely will return.

This was our second time coming here for a haircut for my Son.

The first time we went he was 17 mos old & received a haircut from the owner. We brought him in to have his hair evened out after my MIL took it upon herself to cut his hair. The owner (I forget her name) did a good job & was fast and patient. She was also very verbal in asking whether we wanted it cut shorter or not. The cut looked good in the end and I was happy with it.

They don't have sinks to wash hair in, so expect to have your kid covered from head-to-toe in hair because they don't really even brush them off when they're done. The other downside was that the place, in particular the chairs, are filthy. They're also broken & don't have straps to keep your child from falling. They charge $17 for a cut + tip.

    So why only 2 stars??

We took our Son back in 2 days ago. When I got there & walked in, the owner who did his original cut was on the phone so we were taken back by another woman I hadn't seen on our previous visit. She seemed VERY insecure about cutting his hair & we went back and forth several times about what I wanted. I didn't think it was difficult to see how we wanted his hair cut. It was essentially in the same style- it had just grown out a bit. So she repeated it back t me & I thought we were on the same page.

First thing she did was grabbed the clippers. The owner had previously cut his hair using only scissors so I paused her & asked her where she was going to be using them. She said she had a long guard on & she was just evening out the bottom. After a few swipes she traded clippers and before I could say anything- she COMPLETELY shaved off the crown of his hair! I was in shock! I told her to stop & use scissors. She realized what she had done & said "Sorry, I didn't know the guard was so low". It was basically a train wreck from there. She just couldn't get it right & it kept getting shorter & shorter. There were several visible uneven spots that she asked if she should fix, but out of fear of my Son leaving with NO hair, I declined.

My husband paid the $17 & nothing more & as soon as we returned home I had to try and even out his hair on my own. I still can't believe I actually paid to have his hair messed up this badly. It's aggravating to say the least because his Second Birthday is approaching & this horrible cut will be forever captured in pictures...

We will not be returning. And for those that dare go here, only allow the owner to cut your child's hair.

Our son's first haircut, read reviews thought it would be a good experience...

Ultimately, nothing special, even disappointing. A disingenuous greeting, a seat on a dirt bike that looks like it came from the dump, and a quick cut. The cut was good, however I was hoping for something a bit more welcoming, exciting, maybe even fun.

Will try another place next time.

We've been going here for over two years now, and although the owners have recently upgraded the decor and paint, the lackluster *customer service* over time has really annoyed me lately.

Whenever we go, the stylist keeps forgetting to communicate with my child and just jerks his head around instead. I've asked her before to talk to him, but it is clear to me it just gets ignored, so that's a huge negative. We were just there last Thursday for a cut. I always tip $4+ on a $17 cut, so I feel like I am wasting money now.

Another annoyance: many times I have called ahead to see if the store is busy and asked for appointments, and the response was not very good. Several times when there was a crowd -- people come in waves, you know -- there was no one taking note of the order of walkins because when it's busy, the two cutters are cutting hair and not paying attention to walkins. I get that, but someone should step up. I also generally get a very aloof attitude from the owner, so I feel like I should start taking my business elsewhere now. It's sad to say, but the customer service has really suffered.

I took my 2 yr old here and the stylist was great!  After a poor experience at another salon my son wouldn't sit in the kid chairs.  The stylist suggested that I hold him on my lap and that worked.  He sat pretty still and when he moved the stylist worked with him.
I thought the pricing was reasonable.  The four stars instead of five are because the chairs could have been cleaner.  Everything else was great!

I've been bringing my son to this salon for the past two years and I have never been disappointed. From very short hair (buzz cut) to long hair (tousled), the ladies have always done a great job.  They're patient and they make sure the parent is okay and happy with their kids' cut.

I've visited, Balloon Cuts, Kinder Cuts, and even Snip-its. By far, Kids Salon is the best, hands down!

Came in for the first time for my son who turns two in a month and his hair grows like crazy! This is also the first time letting someone other than family cut his hair. I won't lie,I was a nervous wreck. We came in ten minutes after opening. They greeted us nicely and asked if it was his first time. They took us in right away
He sat in the Jeep chair and didn't squirm. The lady cutting his hair was named Dee. She was fast and did exactly what I wanted. Being the time being my son gets squirmy she was patient and did the job great! Its somewhat a drive from my house and it's kinda pricey for a kid haircut but I really wouldn't mind coming back! My son came out a happy camper!

Yelp has really disappointed me about this place. I brought my 14 month old here for his first real haircut and he left traumatized. The lady who works here really shouldn't cut children's hair. I really don't understand why/how this place has 4 stars.

First off, I thought with the positive reviews the lady (I guess two work here, the one with the bangs) would be patient and receptive towards her young patrons. NOPE! She seemed irritated and annoyed that my son (as well as 99.9% of toddlers) wasn't too keen on the hair clippers near his head.  She held his head down and quickly tried to finish her job even though he was screaming about 30 seconds in. Then she took a pair of scissors to finish and almost cut his finger as she furiously clipped away not paying attention or asking me to hold his hands down. 5 minutes later we were finished with his haircut and left with a screaming kid.

During the haircut, this lady minimally tried to distract him with a horrible fuzzy version of Mickey Mouse in an almost broken tv screen and tried to give him a toy plane towards the end of the haircut. If I wanted to make my kid cry for 20 minutes after clipping his hair for 5 minutes I could have done that at home. NEVER coming back here even for a free hair cut. STAY AWAY! The lady is NOT sympathetic or patient with young children!

PS. His cousin also got a haircut here the same day but left less traumatized. Same stylist refused to cut her hair as her mother wanted it cut. She kept saying 'no you can't do' that when her mom asked if she could give her layers in the front or trim her bangs to the side. Also when she went to blow dry her hair, she started to cry but the lady continued on  saying 'she's crying bc you don't blow dry her hair.' WTF???

I took my very wiggly cow lick ridden 3 year old here for his first professional haircut this morning. My husband had been cutting his hair but we had to admit that we needed a professionals help. His hair was a mess. We dropped in right when they opened and were seen very quickly. My son loved the car barber chair and Dee, who I believe is the owner, was very quick and patient.

My son looks super handsome and he loved the whole experience!

Today was my son and my first time at Kids Salon, and I was super impressed!  The set-up is great:  a couple regular chairs for bigger kids and several "cool" chairs for the toddler set, including a pink Barbie Jeep and a motorcycle.  They also have video screens, and the fact that Mickey was playing in front of my son kept the drama to a minimum.

The stylist was super friendly and great at working with my wiggling -- and sometimes crying -- son.  She was very responsive to my requests, unlike other kiddie salons I've been to, where they simply cut however they want.  When my son freaked out, she went over to the toy basket and brought over two Thomas trains, which immediately placated him.

His haircut looks great, and the price ($17 plus tip) was right.  Even though it's a bit of a drive from our house in Mountain View, I think I will be making it again.

This is my boys 3rd. time getting his haircut there. And there will be many more visits if they keep doing what they do.

As a parent who doesn't want there child traumatized for the first time, within reason of personality types that easily get frightened. This place will make your child feel comfortable.

Walk in, and you get greeted by soft spoken, confident hairstylist who understand the patience needed to deal with us, the overprotective parent and the short-attention, tempered child.

They give your little one a choice to sit on an ATV or a Barbie Jeep, Horse, all with a  TV. playing cartoons. Or you get just the plain old barber seat if all the others are being occupied, otherwise you can wait if you want to give your little Veruca Salt whatever they want.

Which in that case leads to an awesome waiting section for kids to play in. Containing games, toys, and movies.

(side point: very young babies or infants need to sit with their parents on the plain old barber seat.) -safer & better for your child's safety & emotional attachment to there momma.

So overall, they will dance with your child's constantly moving head as they cut each strand. They will ask from the beginning-during-end your requirements or opinion, making you a very satisfied parent. And giving our self-perceived good behaved child a lollipop. You can have one too if you ask.

This place didn't really impress me.  The lady seemed mad.  My daughter was kinda looking at her in a uncomfortable way.  She sprayed water on her face as she was trying to wet her hair.  My fighter is 17 month old and very quite around people but she was kinda uncomfortable.  The toy she was sitting on was dirty and stains all over it.  Will not return or recommend. Best $17 you will spend. My son has been to Kids Salon three times for a haircut and every time he cries while getting his haircut. The staff seems very sympathetic and does an awesome job trying to calm him down while cutting his hair.  The staff is extremely fast at cutting kids hair. Kids Salon has TV monitors at each booth and the seats are from kids rides. My son likes the bike seat they have. Really happy with the services and haircut!! I will be back in a few months.

Not too bad - I called about 930 and made a 11:00am appointment  for both of my girls.

We arrived at 10 to 11 and had to wait a few minutes for our appt, which was fine. We sat and watched all the other kids get their cuts, then headed to the back for them to play with the toys.

They took my little one first (2) and instantly stuck a sucker in her mouth to have her distracted - annoyed me because my kids are well behaved and were listening, but they are kids, when they hear a noise or show on they want to turn their heads. She did a great job on her hair, aside from the bangs being a little lopsided, but I can live with that.

They took my oldest (4) next and immediately did the same to her with the sucker, but I was over it and just talked to her and had her look down when she needed it. Her hair came out cute, she has really curly hair and she listened to how I wanted it cut and it is cute.

It was a pretty good experience - the shop is small, but they moved everybody through fast and efficiently.

    Will go back.

I've been to a few places to get my toddler's haircut and this place was definitely better than the rest.  Balloon Cuts I found to be over stimulating - maybe good for big kids but way too much for little kids.  Plus I found it to be dirty.  We hit up a walk in welcome type of place on the Alameda in SC and the woman cut his hair so short, she should have just shaved it all off (she did however leave a rat tail in the back).  We also tried the place at Valley Fair near the kid's area - the woman must have been new- she said she had two little boys so I thought she'd be fast and good but she botched up his hair so badly - the sides were crooked, parts were longer than others and she took forever!

The woman at Kids Salon was good and patient.  My son was not in a haircutting mood and she clipped and trimmed quickly and it looks good!

We took my 17 month daughter here to get her first haircut.  My wife was very hesitant in getting a haircut for our daughter.  When I found this salon here with the many positve reviews, I showed it to her and it made her much more comfortable.

Our daughter did not fuss or cry during the whole process.  Not during the cutting.   Not while her hair was being wet with a spray bottle.  And not even when the blow dryer was brought out, which was the most supprising.

My daughter got to sit in a car and watch Dora during this, which helped a lot.  We didn't have to wait (we got there about 20 minutes before opening).  The stylist was very friendly and did a great job.

I would recommend this to anyone looking   a great kid friendly salon and as long as I live in the area, I will be taking my daughter here.

We took our daughter here for our first haircut, and don't plan on going back again.

When I called to schedule an appointment, the woman who answered the phone couldn't seem to understand that we had a girl and our appointment time.  Finally, after three tries we seemed to understand each other.

Upon arriving, we were greeted, but the people didn't seem to know about our appointment at all??

The chairs which had mounted toys were very dirty and had broken toy components.  There was a small TV, but our daughter was too young to care.  I was sorely disappointed to not find a child safety strap on the seat for my daughter, so hovered closely by during her appointment, in case she fell down.

The technician took our daughter's crying in stride, and worked quickly and efficiently.  She carefully asked what we wanted and checked in frequently, to see if we wanted it cut shorter.

To her credit, she handled me hovering nearby and Daddy taking photos very nicely, and even presented us with a small certificate and baby lock of hair in honor of our daughter's first haircut.

Despite the good haircut at $17 (we gave her $20 with tip), we decided we won't be going back.  My husband declared the place "dumpy" but I just felt it was dirty and would have felt better if they had cleaned the windows and equipment.

Cute place for a quick and efficient kids cut. Took my 3 year son in without an appointment on a Saturday, the wait was about 5-10 minutes. He grabbed one of the toys from the back and crawled into the jeep to play and wait. The cut is great - very clean little boy look and all for $17. They have 5 stations - a motorcycle, a jeep, a carousel horse, a small normal seat and an adult station. There was a family of 5 in there getting their hair done when we came in. Each station has a small TV to distract the kids. There are toys and tables in the back, in case you have to wait or have other kids with you.
Nothing super fancy, but I'm not looking for a wash, cut, blow for a kid.

I'm lowering my previous rating because the last two times I took my son here we did not have a good experience at all. Dee was rushing both times. Even the time we did have an appt and no one else was waiting. Both haircuts came out uneven. My son's request to be seated in the car during the last visit was completely ignored and he had to sit on the horse that wasn't even clean. Before I could say anything his head was already sprayed with water. What frustrated me the most though was Dee's complete disregard of the fact that my son was scared. All she had to do was to stop for just a second and tell him it was ok instead of annoyingly tapping on the tv trying to get him to watch a (very strange) cartoon. I am not going back there.

I accompanied my mom and my 5 yr old sister here on a Sunday. We didn't have an appointment for my sister, but they were ready to take her in instantly.

Unlike other girls her age who has shoulder length or long hair, my sister's hair is already ear-length bob. We showed the "stylist" 3 pictures of pixie-short-crop hairstyles that my sister liked.
I can see that transforming a girl's hair into what we asked for can be slightly challenging and it was evident by the stylist standing there as if she didn't know where to start. It wasn't long before another stylist, who I assume is the shop owner, dismissed our stylist and took over.

The owner was able to speak Vietnamese to my mother to get a better understanding. She seemed confident and started immediately. She also advised us that my sister's Asian-textured hair may complicate the haircut, but she will work on achieving a refreshing short do'.

2 families came in and asked specifically for the owner to work on their children's hair. They also didn't have an appointment and she basically told the 2 families to wait 10 and 20 minutes. Meanwhile her 2 other stylists were watching nearby. There weren't enough seats for all of us so there was this awkwardness of the families standing around waiting, their kids fidgeting while waiting for their turn, and everyone's eyes were on the stylist and my sister. I knew she felt rushed because in less than 10 minutes she asked if we were satisfied w/ my sister's new "do"...which was nothing more than a trim...my mother and I could have done that at home w/ our clipper, razor, and scissors.

My mother said it it didn't have the layering pieces of a pixie and there was a lack of shape. The stylist snipped a few more strands, but then said to us that anything shorter would make her look like a boy. (Quite frankly, isn't that the idea of a pixie cut?). A snip here and there and she stopped again to insist to my mother that she is unable to add texture to my sister's hair because of the genetic texture of Asian hair and pressed on that she didn't want my sister to look like a boy.

Bottom line: this place is incapable of shaping and styling short do's for girls. Photos of my sister's hair will be added to this review

If you have girls older than 3 who can sit still, and who have hair that is in need of anything other than bangs being trimmed, GO ELSEWHERE.

I took my three girls in today - two just wear basic bobs, and the littlest one's is tricky - straight on top and curly underneath. Oldest one's bangs were glaringly uneven, and the lady seemed totally unable to see it until I almost had to point to individual sections. Youngest one's hair was longer on one side than the other, totally uneven in the back, and once again the lady who did it just seemed to have not a clue what the problem was.
Yes, they have little T.V.s (showing weird Asian anime that I nearly asked them to turn off), and fun little cars to sit on, but $57 before tip for 3 kids cuts where only one was decent is not okay.

Took my son again to Kids Salon and had another great experience. I was reluctant to take him as he is scared of the sound of hair clippers and usually freaks out. He did freak out and squirmed and cried but we left with a cute hair cut. Not only was the hair cut cute but they worked very fast. I apologized for my son kicking and screamin and the hair stylist didn't seem the least bit annoyed. I also appreciate that they accept credit cards because I forgot to go to the ATM prior to our appointment.

Kim was GREAT!!! She gave my 17 month old his first cut just how I wanted and he was squirming and crying. She was so patient, will definitely go back again.

My 5 yr old autistic son does not like haircuts (or even hair brushing) so it's always a challenge to find a place that will do a good job and not make me and my children feel like freaks while my son screams bloody murder through the entire cut.  The stylists here are very patient, listen to what you want, and move everyone through quickly (but not too quickly) even without an appointment. Plus I've never received a 'hairy eyeball' from any employees during my son's incessant screaming.  LOVE them!

I brought my four year old son here for the first time. He enjoyed it very much. They have televisions right on the counters in front of the seats so the children can be distracted while they are getting their hair cuts. He didn't give the hair dresser any problems, he was too busy watching Wonder Pets. The environment is just plain fun for him, now when I tell him that it's time for a hair cut, he asks for this place.

    TWICE (!) BAD haircut!
I gave this place a patient second try because of all good reviews here and it's close by to our house. My 2 y.o. boy is patient and loves decor and ambiance of the place. As far as the actual service quality - I am very upset! Who works there? It makes me question if those hairdressers ever received any training at all!!!
First time I took my son there he had longish hair and I wanted to give him some layers while keeping the length and shorter bangs - he ended up looking like a "coconut" kid. Ok, I am a nice customer. Maybe I just didn't explain myself well. I left a tip and was on our way.
Second time, my husband took him there today with a long straight hair (pass his shoulders). We were planning to grow it out, but recently decided on a change. They decided to get a short cut with a little volume on top and shorter bangs. When I saw my 2 y.o. son's new hair cut - it seemed like it would have been a good idea if they had done a better job. On the back side it was a mess - completely uneven layering. On the sides - one side was shorter than the other. I am not sure which way the bangs were even intended to be by the hairdresser.
How do you mess up SO much coming from perfect one length straight long hair to a short haircut????! My 2 y.o. was busy with cartoons, so no problem there. 2 starts are for decor lollipops. I felt too bad to give just 1.
I am calling them tomorrow, but at this point I am not even sure what they can do to make it up. I am not going back to that place.
They maybe good for trimming some bangs with a straight line, but NO MORE THAN THAT!

I took my son here for the first time last week.  He loved the chairs there and the T.V. The haircut he got was not bad either. So why the 2 stars you may ask?? Well.....when the stylist completed the cut I walked over to my son and noticed a little section of hair that she happened to miss on the top of his head. I very politely asked if she could just go over that one little area again since it looks like she may have *accidentally* missed a spot - no biggie. You could tell it totally irritated her though. What really bugged me is that she offered 2 other kids there a lollipop, but not my son - he was disappointed. Not cool. Don't take out your irritation for me on my son. Won't go back.

Had a wonderful experience today. We took my 20 month old son in for his first haircut and was very nervous how he was going to react. But he handled it all very well thanks to the lady who cut his hair. I didn't catch her name, but she was quick, listened to me and was very attentive to my little guy. The shop could be cleaner, but I could say that about anywhere I suppose. Particularly when there are kids involved. I would definitely bring him back.

This was our 22-month old son's first haircut and we went here based on the reviews here on Yelp.  They were great.  The sylist, Kim, worked really fast, did a great job, and was great with him.  The salon is really entertaining for kids and the haircut was only $17.  For the first haircut, they also give you a certificate and a clipping of hair to save in an envelope.  I would definitely recommend this place, the staff was all really friendly!

My mom and I took my 15 -month old son to get his first haircut here yesterday.  I love the fact that we were the only customers.  We were able to take lots of pics of my son getting his first haircut without anyone watching.  Also, loved the fact that my son did not cry when he got his head shaved.  The lady was really nice about us wanting to keep his cut hair, that she even had an envelope to put it in and a first haircut certificate.  It was definitely worth the 20 min drive out there.

I made an appt the day before and even though she already had a client in there (I am assuming a walk-in) she took us at our scheduled time and was very honest about the cut I wanted my child to have.  I was very happy with the results and the price!
