Very good pho here on our first visit.  I had Pho Bo, while my wife had Pho Ga.  I tried a little of the chicken, and I was pleasantly surprised by the tenderness of the meat.  In the past, I've had some tough-to-chew Pho Ga - not the case here at all, and the rare steak was equally tender.  Flavor was very good, service was excellent - very prompt and polite - and parking (remember: across the street from Santana Row) was a snap!

We'll definitely be back...

The people that work their always remember me so that either means I go there to much or they are great at customer service.
Either way its all good to me.
I really like this place and it has very traditional Vietnamese food.
I love the fresh rolls there and just about everything else on there menu. I'm sure I'll be back there again and again

Being a viet, it's very sad writing this.

Came here w/ family for lunch and was so disappointed.  It was noon, plenty of seats available, a few family (non-viet) place in front, highly disturbing that they seated us to the far back (we are viet).  Ordered the the bun (vermicelli) and pho (beef noodle soup) - sorry it was very disappointing.  We could have had the same out of instant noodles, beef were nuked, the vermicelli were starchy & taste no where to be found.  The service was hurtful - let's just say we were ignored.  Pricing is understandably high in this location.

Many of us had enjoyed the original Khanh's when it was in Town & Country (which is now Santana Row).  Sadly, the new Khanh adopted an unnecessary snobbish attitude over traditional good vietnamese food.  I don't understand the subtle but apparent discriminating gesture, was it because we were viet guests who will think that the food that they are serving majority of non-viet guests are no fancy viet food after all?

If you want excellent and authentic vietnamese food that is in the neighborhood, check out Com Tam Thanh on Bascom (took over Asia Gardens).  You will not be disappointed like you should be @ Khanh's.

Even people who don't think they'd like Vietnamese food should give this place a try. Come on, don't be boring, how do you know you're going to like a certain food if you don't try it first? My husband doesn't like anything exotic, but even HE liked the beef and vegetable dish he had here today. Later I said, see, I told you so, lol! This place is fantastic! To those of you who don't know much about Vietnamese food, it's not spicy or spicy sweet like Chinese and Thai food usually. The menu consists of every type of meat as well from seafood to beef.

Today I was really hungry as I didn't have much to eat until my parents came back from a friends place. So I ordered the small seafood egg noodle pho along with the lemongrass chicken dish. I know that sounds like a lot and the guy who took my order looked at me like, OMG, are you really going to eat all that? lol! He told me that the size of the soup was big. I bet if I was a man he would've said nothing. I just told him that I'm hungry and if I don't finish it all, I'll take home the leftovers. I then gave him my 'what's it to you' look and then he let it go, lol!

The pho came fairly fast. The BOWL was huge, but it was filled mostly with broth and there wasn't much in the way of egg noodles in it. It came with shrimp, lobster balls, and pork in it. It came with a big side of bean sprouts and chopped green onions and a little bit of cilantro on the side. They were a little stingy with the cilantro and I don't get why they would be as it's cheap, especially in Asian stores.

As for the lemongrass chicken though, OMG, it was delicious! It came with a small salad first and the entree came with a small serving of steamed white rice. They were very generous with the amount of ginger and lemongrass in the dish-:) I love lemongrass and ginger in my food, especially Vietnamese and Chinese food! It was the best Vietnamese lemongrass chicken dish I've had in a long time here in N. Ca. The amount of chicken they served wasn't too much or too little and was cooked just right. It was all meat which is always a good thing.

They also have some chocolate deserts there and my husband got chocolate mousse there which looked good but I didn't have any as I already had more than enough, lol! The interior is nice and clean and it was nice and quiet when we were there which was perfect. I guess since it was a holiday weekend, it was emptier than usual. This place is great, we'll definitely be back here again especially since it's close to us.

My story with Khanh's began when I was young, when my mother took our family all around, trying new things in order to broaden our minds and palates.  I distinctly remember Khanh's because it was somewhat akin to the food I was used to, but with a twist.  I thoroughly enjoyed the eggrolls wrapped in lettuce, and the spring rolls packed with shrimpy goodness and dipped in that very addictive peanut sauce.

On a cold night, there might be an order of the hot pot, which really was just noodles with broth and assorted seafood and veggies.  Nothing special, but it was the experience that counted.

On a hot day, the vermicelli dish with the grilled pork might be in order.

But the one dish that was always on the table, no matter what, was the special rice with grilled chicken served in the metal pot.  The metal pot crisped up the rice on the bottom, and the rice itself had tendrils of ginger and bits of Chinese sausage to lend the entire dish an amazing flavor.  The chicken on top is always moist with a touch of that charcoal grill perpetuating through the meat.  It's so delicious.  I recently returned with some of my friends, and they all agreed that I picked the best dish of the night.

It's definitely on the pricey side, especially for Vietnamese food.  None of the huge $5 bowls of pho you would find elsewhere, just the standard size for about $7-8 or so.  Some purists may argue that Vietnamese restaurants ought to stick to one specialty, and I would agree. That said, Khanh's still gets 4 stars from me because the facility is clean and spacious, and the service is great.  And there's always the special rice.

Went to Khanh's again and am still a fan.  The food is above average good, and the place is very clean.  Sometimes you just want to eat at a place where the table's and condiments aren't sticky.  The woman, who may be one of the owners, who waits on most people is very impressive.  She never writes down your order and remembers everything.  Sure you can find cheaper and sometimes better, but Khanh's is remains a welcome addition to our regular rotation.

I had the BBQ beef Vermicelli dish ($8.50).  I thought it was BBQ beef Pho!  But it wasn't since I ordered the wrong thing.  It was noodles, 6-7 pieces of BBQ beef rolled up with veggies on the inside and peanuts sprinkles on the outside.  It came with a side of fish sauce.  It was ok.  They gave me a small bowl of soup to go with it after I asked.  Broth didn't have msg in it.  I was surprised!   You can order things without msg here.

Do not order the egg rolls on the side.  It is a total rip off and they are short and skinny, not the traditional egg roll size that you would expect at $2 a pop.  Also, you get two eggrolls anyway with the super combo (fried rice, bbq chicken, bbq beef and salad) - $13.50.

The inside looked like Denny's.  I think it was a Denny's and they also inherited Denny's coffee cups (you know the peppered white with the brown line on top of the mug?).

Service was great.  Very attentive and I didn't hear any complaints re the wrong order (and there were 23 of us).  Refills on iced tea.  Very attentive with the water as well, which I liked.

Just don't order the spring rolls or egg rolls.  Spring roll was dry.  Egg roll is too small.  Not worth it!

Still a great place if you need to eat and don't feel like waiting on the Row.  That said, the past two times we've been in there, we've said we'll never go back.  Here's why:

-no ong choy (sp.) or Morning Glory
-screamin-ass kids running around and playing drums with chopsticks
-getting a side of any veggie is impossible (so we ordered the stir-fry veggies, and the frozen joints from TJ's are 10x better)
-pretty caucanese-style menu (that crepe thing is still the tizzies though)
-Pho(get about ordering this here)

This place is Americanized aaaaall the way.

If there is someone who never had Vietnamese food and they're hesitant to try it, this is a real good place for a first try.

It's pricier than most Vietnamese restaurants and the food isn't as flavorful.

They're clean.  I don't get "thumb" or "double thumb"  flavor in my pho.  It doesn't have the greasy feel or look of the place.  You're not packed in like sardines.

The service is quick and friendly - Always a smile.  They don't make you feel like moron if you don't speak the language - very American friendly.

The salad that comes with the rice plates is kinda weird.  It doesn't seem like the drain the lettuce so you have this puddle of watered down dressing at the bottom.

I had their special rice.  It's sticky rice in a clay pot with Chinese sausage and mushrooms.  I don't know if it tastes authentic but it's tasty.

The pho broth doesn't have the depth as Pho 54.

This place is close to my house and they take credit cards so when I don't have time to drive to Alum Rock I go here.

The restaurant itself was pretty decent.. However, the service was just "kinda" slow.. It took us like 10-15 mins after seated to order our food. I mean c'mon...If you were so "americanized", would you mind atleast fetch our water first? ehh.. whatsoever, the food seemed decent... tasty but pricey... oh well.

This place has been here forever...I have no idea why it took me until last night to finally check this place out!

Before heading to the movies, some friends of ours decided to go here for dinner. I was kind of skeptical because I wasn't really in the mood for Vietnamese.

Like everyone says....the decor is random...am I at Coco's or Perkins? Could this be a Vietnamese place? Even the tables and chairs are American style.

Pleasantly surprised to see a full range of food items on the menu and the prices are pretty decent I think although not as inexpensive as maybe a Pho place.

I ordered the Lemongrass Chicken and my husband ordered the BBQ chicken plate. His was great...I would definitely order that again. My dish however tasted like Fruit Loops cereal...I kid you not! It was so sweet....it was like chicken that tasted like cereal. Not impressed and will not order it again. Our friends ordered vegetarian dishes and those were good as well as the spring rolls. I really enjoyed their peanut dipping sauce.

Service was quick and friendly too. Would definitely come back as an option in "the Row" area. Everything is so expensive there and not very good so it's nice to know we can hop across the street and go to Khanh's for dinner anytime.

I had dinner here with my girl Sue Ann, and it was (for the most part) a pleasant surprise.

We shared the ginger chicken, and another dish that had: chicken, shrimp, broccoli, carrots, mushrooms and a bland clear sauce.
The second dish actually reminded me of a Chinese dish I have had in the past. It was fine, but I wouldn't order it again. It was just too bland.
Our meals also came with brown rice, and a sad looking salad.

I was happy that they served brown rice, and both meals were light. I liked the slivers of ginger in the ginger chicken, I just wish it had some veggies in it too.

Service was so-so. It seemed like it took a bit too long for someone to take our order, but the food came REALLY fast.

Parking was a cinch, and prices were very reasonable. I would return and try some other dishes.

This place is more like a 3.5 for me, but since it was pretty cheap, I'm bumping it up to a 4.

Been coming here with my family for over 20 years, when was over at the Town and Country shopping center. I agree with other Yelpers that there are more authentic and cheaper Pho places out there, however you can never go wrong eating here. It is clean, service is fast, and the food is consistently good. It is always my fall back for Vietnamese food. Also if you are thinking of introducing someone to Pho or Vietnamese food in general this is a great first place to do so. The boyfriend had never had Pho before, so I wanted the restaurant to give a good first impression. This place was our first date :) As I said, there are tastier/more authentic/ and cheaper places in San Jose but they all tend to be hit or miss with cleanliness and service.

My face dishes here: fresh spring rolls, all of their Pho,  vermicelli noodles with BBQ meat, and Catfish Claypot.

I think I've been majorly spoiled by the restaurants we get in lil Saigon here in OC. I stopped here for a quick lunch with a friend before leaving for my flight and honestly, it's really quite subpar Vietnamese food.

We got the summer rolls to share and then I ordered the 'mi' special which supposedly came with everything. My friend got the "bun' with grilled shrimp and grilled pork. They brought me a plate of condiments but it was so weird -- lettuce. No herbs or bean sprouts, but lettuce. My friend's bowl also didn't have any of the abundant greens and herbs we get down here.

The summer rolls were average, I mean how wrong can those be? It's not cooked! It's just a bunch of stuff rolled up in rice paper. The sauce was watery, but taste-wise, it was passable.

The broth in my 'mi' was lukewarm which to me is just the worst sin in soup noodles. The broth MUST be piping and scorchingly hot. The flavor was also really bleh. I used chili sauce etc, but it didn't help. I guess I should just be happy I got to see my friend and food shouldn't matter, but goddamit, it does matter to me.

I didn't try my friend's 'bun'.

Service was better than most Vietnamese places, which is why they get 2 stars.

My coworker took me here one time and I thought. . .ehh. . doesn't seem that great, but when I walked in I was pleasantly surprised how clean the place was.  Decor was simple, yet polished, and the hostess was very friendly.  She sat us right away and the waiter brought us over our water.

Looking over the menu I was surprised as well too!  I was thinking this is your traditional vietnamese food that I wouldn't really like ( I was thinking, oh man, I gotta order pho. . .I don't want pho!)  I actually saw a lot of dishes I'd be interested in trying and may really like!  So the first time I came here I tried their BBQ beef rice plate and I LOVED IT!!!  They give you not just one or two or three but about 5 slices of perfectly marinated beef.  Not only that, you get steamed veggies and fried rice - and this fried rice isn't just any fried rice.  It's lightly buttered with a hint of SOME kind of spice/flavor that makes it taste really good (I don't think I've ever had fried rice that tasted this way - especially because it didn't taste all greasy and unhealthy like most fried rice makes you feel).

I've also tried their BBQ chicken dish which is delicious too - The spring rolls are very fresh, perfectly rolled, and their peanut sauce is NOM NOM.  I usually don't like peanut sauce because certain places make it too chunky like I'm eating peanut butter, or they'll make it too water like I'm dipping it in peanut flavorered water (YUCK)  This place really makes it so perfect for your spring rolls.

The grilled shrimp and pork vermicelli is really good too -  I love noodles and this definitely hits the spot when I'm craving it.  You use fish sauce to coat the meats and noodles - and I really like how the sauce is very light so it doesn't overpower the deliciousness of the shrimp and pork.

Next time I come here I'm going to try the Spicy Beef and Pork Noodle Soup. . .sounds DELISH! :P

After 10 years, my mom and I decided to lift the ban we imposed on Khanh's Garden. I'm sad to say the ban is back on!

Back in the day when they were still located at Town & Country Village, it was one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in town. Once the Santana Row construction began, they moved into their own location across the street. The reason why the ban was in place is because they were discriminating against their own kind. It was apparent that non-Vietnamese (White) customers were getting preferential service to Vietnamese customers and I can't support a business that does not practice equal treatment to all.

Fast forward to last weekend... The restaurant was filled with mostly non-Vietnamese patrons (not a good sign for a Vietnamese restaurant). I ordered the Bun Thit Nuong (Vermicelli w/ Grilled Pork)($8.50); disappointing. The noodles were mushy (not strained of moisture), the pork lacked flavor and the nuoc mam (fish sauce) was like water, no taste at all! On the other hand, the Hu Tieu Dac Biet (special Noodle Soup)($7.50) that my mom ordered was too salty. She eats pretty salty to begin with and had to ask for extra lime to dilute the taste. There was almost no meat in her soup and the seafood was imitation.

This restaurant tries to be upscale but fails in it's attempts. You can tell from the moment you sit down and see the plastic spinning tray of sauces (like in a pho restaurant) that this is no fancy restaurant. I'd recommend Vung Tau over Khanh's garden because everything from the food to the service is better and for relatively the same price.

This was the third time I went here. I enjoy those time dinning here.

I remembered the first time I came here with Alice and Amy, that was around 2:30pm. We didnt know where to find a place for eating, and my friend just sugguested could have a try for Khanh's. I ordered chicken rice, taste was good and the environment was nice. They played some classical music, which was different with the other Vietnamese restuarant.

The Second time I went here was a Cross Cultural Partnership gathering with my CCP partner and my friend and their friends. My CCP partner introduce us to try the Vermicelli BBQ beef. I feel delighted because we could use the rice paper to pack the beef and the rice noodle by ourselves. I like BBQ beef and it was so funny that I packed in a very urgly sharp which make my friends laugh a lot. We enjoy the time.

Last night I went her again, we I order the Vermicelli BBQ beef again, but this time is for 2 persons (cost 25) but I think it s size could fit for 3 persons. Other that it, my friend ordered the beef noodle soup, it was decent, but since my friend ordered the large one, the bowl was super large. I guess, it is impossible for me to finish it by myself only.  My other friend ordered the Vietnamese fried seafood noodle, again, the size was big enough for 2 persons.

So that, next time, we would order 2 dishes for 3 persons or 3 dishes for 4 persons. Otherwise, we should do 3 times effort exercise to diminish the fat we add after dinner in Khanh.

The Pho is average. I don't know how they justify charging more for a bowl of noodles than some noodle houses that are MUCH better.

If you like tendon, fatty flank or any other types of different beef then don't go here. They have eye of round and meatballs....

Go to San Thomas and El Camino.... MUCH better noodles

My family used to frequent this spot..  and i was always on the fence about it.. Yea, pretty 'ok.'  The che (dessert) is good.  And the egg rolls are my favorite.  But it's what I like to call the washed version of Vietnamese food..  For some reason my sister and I had a hankering for just this spot.  We went... we dined like mad women... and I must say our 2nd shot at a dinner (previous was Mimi's cafe, which grrrr) was a complete success.  We left completely satisfied.
My parents brought home some bah hoi thit nuong for my dinner today, and damn, the butter lettuce they use with the fresh mint and how they make their fish sauce goes perfectly together.  Though the food kind of lacks the authentic Vietnamese flavors, their combo fits together well.
YUM

This used to be our regular spot.  For a couple of years now, our family would come here practically every week.  The servers knew us and always greeted us with a friendly smile and a "how are you guys?" that comes with being regulars.  In our attempt to trying to curb down our spending, weekly turned to twice monthly and now just maybe once a month.  Nice to know they still know us though.

The two things that makes Khanh's stick out are their pork eggrolls: always piping hot, deep friend, crispy goodness.  Wrap it in the herbs and lettuce, dip it in their "special seasoning sauce" (which I'm pretty sure is fish sauce, lime juice, carrots, jicama, and something else I just cannot quite put my taste buds on) and WOW, crackalicious!  I have not seen eggrolls done like this anywhere else.  The other thing I love is their pork and shrimp rice paper specialty.  It's basically make your own eggroll with vermicelli, herbs, shrimp and pork.  It gets a little messy, and you have to be careful with the hot water, but boy oh boy this is the ONLY place I can get it.  Excuse my drool.

Here's the reason it is minus one star.  One thing I've noticed: if you go early, you get the heaping mounds of herbs that come with pho.  But if you come near closing, the herbs, not so heaping.  It's like they're running out and have to ration the herbs.  That, and it if we're not ordering pho, the price of dinner for four is usually between 50-60 bucks.

Otherwise it's a nice treat for us.  The kids love it, we love it.

Although this restaurant claims "authentic" Vietnamese food... it's bit far-fetched.

It was so weird eating here because I felt so out of place. It looks like a diner inside (think Sizzler) but I'm eating Vietnamese food!

I do must say that they had exceptional waiter service. My drink never stayed empty long. Now, if you know what regular Vietnamese service is (There is no such thing as Vietnamese service)... this place will surprise you.

This is also the most expensive dinner I've EVER paid for Vietnamese food... $50 for two people. We each had an entree and shared an appetizer. We had the sampler appetizer and that was good -- except the spring rolls. I ordered Banh Hoi Tom Thit. I thought it was odd that they gave me rice paper to roll my food. Usually you eat this as a dish not in rolls. My boyfriend had Bo Luc Lac, which was very tasty and tender beef. So overall, the food was tasty. I felt they were lacking the mints, green onions and other condiments that usually come with Vietnamese dishes.

I have to give this place 4 stars for the fact that it is cleaner then most vietnamese restaurants.

I have gone to Lee Noodle and Pho Hoa on the east side and I always feel like I am in a cafeteria! At Khanhs I feel like I am sitting in a restaurant...

Pros:
*Great Pho! I love the Chicken Pho and Egg Noodle with won tons. The chicken acutally taste like chicken too! Unlike Lee Noodle!
*Good service
*Clean
*Good atmosphere
*The egg rolls are to die for!
*Chicken vermicelli is great and refreshing!
*Large portions (even the small soups are huuuuge)
*Great desert selection

Cons:
*Did not care for the grilled pork
*fried rice tasted like it was frozen from a bag, it was awful!
*Canned soda

All in all this is a great place to come get some Pho and an order of egg rolls! I am VERY content with that. Not such good luck explorering other menu options..... I'll stick to what I love!

Great...clean place for tastey Pho!

I've eaten here plenty of times, especially when I worked in the area.

I was always here for lunch, so I'm not sure about the dinner services. Lunch was always very busy when I was here. The location is central to many businesses and very close to Valley fair, so a Star for location.

I can't really recall the service, so probably nothing memorable here.

The food is decent. I wouldn't say it's authentic Viet food, because honestly there's not too many places in America where you can get that except for maybe at one of your Viet friend's parent's homes.

I like the food. I usually got rice plates, Bo Luc Lac or Com Thit Nuong. I remember I tried the Pho once and that was a big mistake! If the restaurant only had one type of Pho on the menu, that should tell you something...

I'd like to go back sometime for a rice plate though...

This place has been here for what feels like forever. When we lived closeby, we would head over here quite often during our 'dating period'...and almost always sit in the same booth, not on purpose, seemingly by chance.

When we moved a litle farther away, the few times we tried to come, for whatever reason wait was very long or it was closed. So we became pals with Pho Lynn since it was closer to our house and never seemed closed.

Until last nite...when, while trying to kick this nasty cold, I decided I needed some soup. Headed over to PL...only to be greeted by a cold, dark, locked business. Where do we go?? Lost for a moment we sat in the car. Oh....the place over on Winchester right?

It was hazy in our minds but as we turned the corner onto Winchester, it all came rushing back. Thankfully it was open, we ended up yet again in our same booth, and enjoyed a delicious meal. Love that you can add extra meat into your vermicelle noodle bowls for $2.00, protein overload.

Service here is unfailingly friendly and very fast, egg rolls crisp and not too greasy, with a side of lettuce for rolling and fish sauce for dipping. My hub loves their myriad offerings of pho soup, his favorites are wonton and meatball... I am into more simple offerings like chicken pho or the beef noodle bowls. Their lemongrass chicken is great, and they have a huge menu... even if you are not into pho you can find something here.

Thankfully, Khanh's is no longer hazy in our memories and we left with a sense of renewed purpose to not forget our 'old friends' just because we live a few more miles away.

So I have eaten here a few times mainly because my boss loves this place and she turned us onto it! So today we ordered food for our thanksgiving lunch thing. I ordered the top ramen noodles with veggies, chicken and shrimp....delish! I have no idea what the dish is called, but this is my name for it! LOL
I have tried the chicken special rice which is yummy as well when you put hella chili sauce on it!
I think you should try this place once or twice, you will not be disappointed!

I have a mixed feeling about this place...  so just a three star restaurant.  Their pho is okay but I feel like this is more americanized pho restaurant.  I don't really taste the MSG...

No MSG in Asian food?  At that point it is no longer Asian food.  When it comes to Asian food the dirtier the joint is the more authentic it is.  I don't mind dirty environment as long as the food is clean and authentic, authenticity is crucial for me in ethnic food.

So in that note, this place is tooooooo clean!!!  So on one hand, it was nice and clean with great service.  But on the other hand, the food was just mediocre and the selection of different pho and variety of meats weren't as great.  I asked for the pho with every kind of meat in it and it was just steak and tendons.  No tripes and all the other nasty stuff that I love.

It wasn't terrible but I think I would rather have the authentic over the Americanized version.  I like my MSG.  But if you like super clean restaurant and is health conscious about MSG, go here.

P.S. MSG isn't that bad for you really...  look at Asian people, they consume huge ridiculous amount of MSG and they healthier than all the Americans...

DENNYS!...but at least without the racket.

This place looks like an American Diner...don''t get me wrong, its much better than any "traditional" Vietnamese restaurants with the austere white tile floors and grime/dirt/uncleaniness everywhere. This place was clean, and if it weren't for the chopsticks everywhere, you wouldn't be able to tell its an asian restaurant, much less a Vietnamese one.

We ordered the BBQ pork over rice, the vermicelli and BBQ chicken/shrimp along with an egg roll and butter lettuce appetizer. Egg rolls were YUM, delicious, even if they were a bit on the small side. For the rice plates, we got a salad with a vinegar dressing and it was a little tasteless. Our entrees came out and they were good. The fish sauce was a little blander then what I'm used to, but I'm pretty sure this place caters to a more Americanized crowd (which I am, but I like traditional Vietnamese food).

I would compare Khanh's would Vung Tau...they have similar food for similar prices and cater to the same set of consumers with a more Americanized crowd/food with good service and cleanliness. The BBQ pork could be grilled a bit more, Vung Tau's are thinner and crisper. The fish sauce there is definitely tastier, but Khanh's did provide good food and service. We were given more rice for no charge and even more ground peanuts for our food. We were checked on multiple times throughout the meal and refilled on water many times.

It's a good place for a good, clean Vietnamese restaurant, especially when you don't feel like driving to other places to get this type of food.

BBQ Pork Rice Plate: $9
Vermicelli Shrimp and BBQ Chicken: $11
Egg Rolls (4): $8

Had dinner tonight and noticed their tables are bigger but their appetizers plates got smaller. odd.  and the  tiny tiramisu is a rip off for $4.50.

Our waiter was friendly and courteous and it's still very clean.

For a Monday night, there were a lot of people having dinner here.

This was the perfect spot to eat before a night of drinking at Santana Row.  It's right across the street, - so you can easily walk over once you're done eating.  It's not crowded, expensive, or annoying - like most of the restaurants at Santana Row on a Friday night - but its good food and you won't have to make a reservation or sit and wait for hours to get a table.

It's nothing fancy (I would guess it was a Denny's in a former life)...  but the food was good.  Try the bo luc lac (shaking beef).  That was yum!

I must agree with the other reviews, this place is super clean. I met one of my best friend for lunch and we chatted our hearts away. My friend frequents this place so often that the waiter remembers her. The service and food was good. Sorry, I am lacking on words today... perhaps my next review will have more heart to it.

My stomach contents after lunch:
Deep Fried Catfish with fish sauce
Yellow Chicken Curry
Good ole plain rice
Cafe Sa Dau

My overall ratings:
Food: 4* - Filled the stomach up!
Service: 4* - Friendly and nice
Price: 3* - A little on the pricey side, Cafe Sa Dau: $3.95, wow... $2.50 at Lee's
Parking: 4 * - Private Parking and plentiful...
Restroom: 3 - Didn't make a visit, maybe the next time...

We were looking for an alternative to our typical Vietnamese spots.  I recall driving by this location and thinking "that's a pretty nice place for being a Vietnamese restaurant". So we give it a try. The place was large, clean and smelled clean.

Service: It was initially prompt but soon after I had to request water thrice. I don't understand why some places give you tiny cups of ice water. The waiter was young, nervous and probably new so I let it slide.

Food: I ordered the Bún tht nng and it was the best I've had to date.  The fish sauce was not pungent like others I've tasted. The wife ordered the ph bò and she was disappointed. She said it wasn't authentic and that it tasted Americanized. The spring rolls were delicious though the peanut sauce left much to be desired.

Overall: I thought this place was great. My wife is definitely pickier when it comes to Vietnamese food so I suppose if you're looking for more authentic this place may not be it. When we walked in I commented "wow no funky smells" while she said "oh that's not a good thing and it won't be true Vietnamese". With that said I thought it tasted just right and I would like to return if my wife is ok with it :)

We eat here about once a month and have ever since they were located in Town & Country, before Santana Row moved them across the street.  Generally we order the noodle soup, seafood or chicken as well as an order of goi cuan. Love the fresh rolls, particularly the dipping sauce.

Service is always good, the place is clean and we rarely have problems getting seated.  The atmosphere is fairly sterile but that is hardly a problem.

Good clean Viet food. I liked it better when it was at the old Town N Country locaton before Santana Row was built. Definitely where I brake in first time Vietnamese eaters. Excellent service.

First off, this place is very clean compared to other Pho places. The staff is very nice and friendly. It's always pretty busy so you know they're doing something right. I heard they got voted the best Vietnamese food in San Jose.

However, the Pho isn't as tasty as other places I've been to. It's alright. The peanut sauce it pretty runny  - seems to have a lot of soy sauce in it perhaps that is why. The BBQ beef is excellent.

Overall it's pretty good. I keep coming back. My boyfriend and I used to eat here once a week when I lived on Winchester.

This place is strange

It feels like I'm inside of a Marie Calendar's...but with vietnamese food. hahah.

Food was pretty good, the staff was very friendly and everything came out within 5 minutes!

we had the appetizer sampler, which came with fried spring rolls, fresh spring rolls, and a steamed meat cake with shrimp chips...

I had the rice vermicelli with pork and shrimp.  It was delicious, the pork was tender and the shrimp were large, perfectly cooked, and sweet...although at almost triple of what i'm used to paying for it.  My sister had their pho which came in a HUGE bowl, and had lots of meat.

She thought it was good, I thought it was decent.  But the broth wasn't as flavorful as the pho I grew up eating in OC...

overall i'd give:

5 stars for service
3 stars for price
4 stars for the food
= 4 stars

I love this restaurant. My family goes here at least once a month for Sunday lunch. All of their food is very authentic. It's great if you want some real good quality Vietnamese food with moderate prices. I usually order the Canh Chua (I think that's how you spell it), and it's probably the best Canh Chua I've had besides my mom's. The fish they use in it is VERY fresh. Everyone else in my family seems to love what they order here too. My brother loves their Bun Bo Hue?... and my sister who is a vegetarian loves their spring rolls and tofu dishes. All of their Che (Vietnamese desserts) are very good too. This place satisfies everyone's palettes.

They also seem to have a fridge full of heavenly looking French and American desserts and treats too, but I've never tried any of them. I also love the location, right next to Santana Row. The place is also very clean, which is hard to say about a lot of Asian restaurants in San Jose. Don't expect it to have any asian decor though, it looks like it used to be a Dennys dinner turned into an Asian restaurant. hah.

Not your average Vietnamese restaurant!

If you're looking for pho, sure, Khanh's has that, but you'd be missing out on the other wonderful Vietnamese dishes that they serve. Actually, I don't even recommend the pho because I've had better elsewhere. Instead, they have a great variety of other Vietnamese entrees that I never knew existed.

I had my first Vietnamese seafood crepes here and they are amazing. They come with a crunchy turmeric crepe stuffed with shrimp and bean sprouts. There is also a plate full of herbs like mint and basil to stuff the crepes with along with a sweet fish sauce for dipping. This is my absolute favorite thing on the menu!

I also love lemongrass chicken and the catfish claypot. The catfish is moist and tangy with caramelized onions. Mmmmm :) For dessert, they have these amazing individualized sized cakes in all kinds of tempting flavors - chocolate mousse, mango mousse, tiramisu, green tea mousse...

This place is definitely a family run restaurant with family run prices! Skip the crappy mall chain food restaurants and go to Khanh's after a day of shopping at Valley Fair. You won't be disappointed :)

The appetizer sampler is so awesome.  My husband and I came here for the first time last Friday night.  The sampler for $11.95 is a deal.  2 FRESH spring rolls, 2 CRUCHY eggrolls, and a STEAMED meatloaf.  Definitely enough for two for dinner.  However, my hubby and I needed to try some more of their yummy food so he had the Chicken Pho and I tried the Grilled Shrimp Vermicelli.  Both were excellent as was our server.  Most of the time in Pho restaurants you get speedy yet non-attentive service...this was the grande exception.  Our server was attentive and knew his dining etiquette.  Our appetizer plates were cleared before our entrees arrived...which has never happened to me at Pho before and I even saw him take the time to speak to a young girl who was asking questions about how to say common phrases in Vietnamese.  We had an excellent experience here and cannot wait to come back again.  Thank you Khanh's for kicking our weekend off right.
