Best wings in town. Lots of flat screens. Cold beer. Golden Tee.
Why wouldn't you go?
Very large sized wings here. I don't think they will make them with sauce on the side and the sauce is not the best, but the wing size is awesome. The blue cheese dressing is really good here too.
Plus the staff is always really cool!
Best place to be an Eagle fan...
This place has come a long way from the days of dancing on the tables for the Red Wing's Cup victory in 1998. They no longer have a huge projection TV taking up half of the front bar... now it's all flat screens, but the bar still welcomes all bay area hockey die hards, as well as rugby and soccer die hards. I guess it's also become quite a place for Eagles and Phillies games, which is would be perfect, but I don't live in SF anymore.
Anyway, the food is great. The wings have been voted best in the city numerous times, and the home made potato chips are worth getting as well. Beers are plentiful, as is the liquor selection, and prices are very reasonable considering it's SF.
Good enough place, went on a Monday night. Typical sports bar, not too small. Lots of flat screens. About average prices: small plate of wings $10 hamburger $10 sam adams $5 bud light $4. Friendly wait staff.
This place gets the 5 star treatment only because I can find fellow Philadelphia Eagles fans here in force on Sundays. Other then that, its gets like 3 stars on a normal day.
The beer select is adequate and the food is OK at best, but after you pound a few cold brews you'll forget how mediocre the food is.
I'm sure if you're into soccer and/or rugby, this place will appeal to you.
I've heard a lot about this place but never been until last week for the UFC fight.
Maybe it was the rain, or maybe no one cares about lightweights, but the joint was not crowded at all. Too bad for everyone that didn't show up cuz BJ Penn put on quite a show. Good for me cuz there was plenty of space and didn't have to do much to get service.
As advertised, however, were the buffalo wings. effing delicious. Fried to right amount of crispiness than tossed in a perfectly pungent and vinegary sauce.
Props to my friends who showed up an hour early to get a primo table.
How is it possible I've not yet reviewed Kezar?
This was the first sports bar I visited in SF - immediately following the Yelp 2008 football game. At that point I talked with Devon F and JT F a while, and sampled their famous buffalo chicken wings, which are absoltuely perfect. We followed up the tradition this year, and I got to try their chicken club and fries - also above what you'd expect for a sports bar.
Last Sunday, I watched the 49ers playoff hopes drizzle to nothing, but still had a great time drinking beer and trying out the nachos, which are mega-cheezy and piled on with toppings.
It gets hella packed here for Cal, Stanford, 49ers, and Raiders games. At other times, expect a pretty chill place.
In honor of all of the American football games I will not be enjoying this holiday season while in London-town, I want to give a shout out to Kezar Pub...arguably the best place to watch a game (or election results, or anything that you want to see on lots of big screens).
It gets insanely crowded for any popular game day, so your best bet is to get there early and order fast before the onslaught of people bombard the wait staff, who try their best to weave through the tables and chairs and deliver numerous pitchers of beer. Food favorites are the giant-sized portion nachos, and wings. Beer is beer, and the Bloody Mary's are ok. If you're hungry for breakfast I'd recommend going down the street to the Pork Store then coming back here for the game.
Kezar's got some great SF history too, being across from where the 49ers used to play...my Dad, who's 71, has some great stories about time spent here drinking with his buddies back in the day. I wonder if the nachos were as good as they are back then. I'll miss having this place within walking distance for the time being.
I thought I had never been to Kezar before and based on the reviews here it sounded like a fun place to watch the NFL playoffs with a few friends before I move out of the area.
It definitely didn't disappoint based on what I was expecting.
First of all the place has a TON of flat screen TV's. Literally ever seat in the place has a great view of a TV. Definitely great if you are actually interested in watching the game.
What else do you want at a sports bar? But of course good pub grub to munch on while watching the game. As other below have said the wings are EXCELLENT. Not the best I've ever had but top notch for sure. We also tried the chicken nachos which were a heaping pile of artery clogging goodness.
Finally the staff were definitely friendly and prompt as could be expected with a packed house of people.
Definitely get there early for any major sporting event to get a table or seat at the bar or you might be left standing or at least waiting for awhile for a spot to open up. Luckily we got there just in enough time to grab a table as someone was leaving
The BBQ chicken wings were freaking fantastic! They were the best that I've ever had bar none. The wings were big, crunchy, and the sauce had a nice kick and sweetness to them.
The staff was pretty professional and friendly for the most part. One of the server did however looked like she was having a rough day. I forgive her though because the wings were so great! LOL!
It was pretty busy with college football fans and the atmosphere was pretty hectic which was a good thing. You don't expect less from a sports bar on college football Saturdays.
I will come back for the wings for sure!
My first time at Kezar after a great day of flag football in Golden Gate Park (Thanks John H.!). I've never played football, flag or tackle, so I didn't know what to expect. Now I know that after a few hours of it, you want food and you want beer. Maybe some ibuprofen for good measure.
I know I'm not the only one who felt hungry because as soon as the wings came to us, our table went dead silent - screw that team spirit - it's every man for himself!
My buffalo wings with blue cheese dressing were fantastic and between Andrew and his man crush, those BBQ wings didn't stand a chance. From now on "going to a sports bar" will mean "going to Kezar Pub."
p.s. Most hardcore Cal Bears fan award goes to the lady throwing her baby shower here, yes??
Bias inbound.... Kezar is an Eagles and Phillies bar which now makes it the best sports bar in SF.

Some of the best wings in the city. Also a great place to catch the football games.
Not sure what else to say about Kezar that hasn't already been said.
It is your typical sports bar so lots of yelling and staring at the TV....but it is San Francisco so not quite as bad and more IQ points than most sports bars around the country.
Haven't tried much grub there besides their wings and they never disappoint me.
The beers are a little pricey and your typical SF beer selection.
I recommend coming early, downing a few beers and a basket of wings before the crowds arrive and then cruising across the street to GG Park for a relaxing afternoon. Or just go to the Trophy Room and get hammered. Both are viable options.
Jammed-packed for UFC fights. Nice n' mellow on weeknights.
So, heads up - you get there after the 2nd card... you ain't sittin' anywhere... you'll be standing really, really close to strange strangers. And, the hardworking servers will tell you off, if you get in their way while trampsing back and forth between those that paid $20 for the "paid for" area, and those just hanging out to catch some other game, on the other side of the curtain.
I have to admit that I got a little testy when one of the sassy servers told me I couldn't stand "there". In frustration I yelled back "where the hell am I supposed to go?" (thinking, damn - we just paid $40 bucks! you oversold - too damn bad).
But, we eventually moved, because I got finally got tired of being told to move. So, we found another spot in which to STAND, watched some fights and chatted with some Englishmen.
Sassy-server actually grew on me as I watched her holding her own amongst a crowd of thirsty, hungry, demanding asses - I almost wanted to tip her, even though we didn't order one single thing... maybe next time when it's not so crazy - on a Tuesday night.
Longtime fan of this place.
Great beer selection, reasonable prices, lots of TV's, lots of tables and seating, a couple of pool tables (which can be covered and used for flip-cup if the mood strikes your group).
The crowd is a good mix of ages and neighborhoods, and is usually laid-back and friendly. Bartenders are reasonably quick and friendly as well. Any major game or sporting event will be shown here, and will attract enthusiastic fans (especially soccer).
You'll be surprised at how extensive the menu is for a sports pub, and even more surprised at how good the food is (especially the wings).
Highly recommended.
PS: This has been said by countless reviewers here (not to mention a number of local newspapers over the years), but it needs to be said again: This place has THE BEST buffalo wings in San Francisco, hands down. I've lived here for 25 years and have yet to find a place anywhere in the Bay Area that has wings as good as these. Definitely order some if you visit.
Cal - 52; Maryland - 13...this is Bear Territory!!
Multiple tv screens, multiple football games, multiple beers, and multiple appetizers. What a great opener to the season! We'll just forget about a few upsetting details like the tackle that sprained Sam Bradford's shoulder and USC's typically annoying victory. What's really important here is that Cal kicked ass and I got drunk and ate delicious food while watching.
Per my previous review, "Cole Valley is kind of far, so I don't know when I'll ever be back to Kezar again, which means those chicken wings will probably be haunting my dreams for a long time to come. If I ever do come back and get the wings, I hope to bump the score up to 5 stars."
All true. Yes it took me a while to return to Kezar (9 months to be exact), yes I ordered the wings this time, and yes I'm bumping the rating up to 5 stars. These little suckers are spicy. Be sure you have a cold beverage and a napkin handy prior to consumption.
Even better than the wings are the nachos. Bountiful is the only word I can think of to adequately describe the nacho situation. The right number of chips, evenly distributed and melted cheese, delicious salsa, lots o' peppers, and ample sour cream and guacamole.
The bar was packed, but the service stayed on top of their game. Regular check-ins, fast refills, and friendly attitudes.
Rollllllll onnnnn you Bearsssss!!

I came here over Thanksgiving weekend with my Boomer Sooner pal to watch the OU vs. OSU game in a… Read more »
Love it! Great Pub. Nuff said. Read the rest of the reviews if you want something witty. Great for beer, appetizers and friends.
You have to know what you're doing to have a decent time at Kezar. This is due to the overwhelming crowds that can show up on any given Saturday/Sunday during football season.
A friend and I decided to brave the storm and try our luck at finding seats this last weekend. we lucked into 2 seats right at the bar. We had cocktails and two televisions tuned into the two games we wanted to watch.
The wings were amazing, as usual. Bridget was a delight. She was business like at first, but after a couple of rounds and some sh!# talking about one of the games, she warmed up. Perfect service. Well poured Guinness. Good bloody mary.
This place reminds me of having good parking karma. When you got it, it's the best. Like seating karma at Kezar.
In my opinion, and I know bars... a little too well. Kezar Pub is the best bar in San Francisco.
It has the perfect blend of ALL sports on the numerous TVs from run-of-the-mill baseball to 0600 breakfast, beer and RUGBY!
On top of that the pub grub is beyond perfect. This is, quite literally, the only place I've found in the city with half-way palatable wings (and I know wings too). LOVE the corn dogs. Basically I've never had a bad meal here. The only issue has been finding a place to sit when there are major sports on, but I'll take that any day.
This is the perfect, old school English-style "local." Though it does lack the 4 geezer's always sitting at the bar, it makes up for it with ex-pats and personalities. Oh, and be sure and not confuse this one with the not-horrible place, also called Kezar, over on Cole. This place is head-and-shoulders above in food quality and atmosphere.
I only came here because it is the bar that my kickball league comes to after games. Let me give you some highlights of things that happened to me at this bar
1. A guy "accidently" decks me in the back of the head. We date for a few weeks, since I'll take whatever I can get.
2. While waiting in line for the bathroom (inevitable since they only have one toilet for the ladies) I hear a girl say something about touching a guy's penis. My ears perk up because my roommate had a thing with that same guy
3. I became known as the girl who cut out the crap and carried around a pitcher to drink from, not a cup
All that being said, it is a great sports bar, gets too crowded sometimes though. Who would've guessed there were so many detroit hockey fans, or more specifically who wouldv'e guessed there were so many people that would admit they are from Detroit. As noted earlier, the bathroom availability is a problem. Also, there are thiefs because someone stole my backpack. If they were a size 8 womens in cleats, good for them, but in any case they are going to hell.
I apologize if some of this is irrelevant or doesn't make sense, but I'm kinda drunk right now.
Kezar is a place I never really plan on going to, but somehow end up there. It's your standard pub atmosphere complete with lots of noise, TVs showing sport matches, pool tables in the back, high male to female ratio, greasy bites, and a tiny restroom in the back.
Kezar is fun with large groups, especially if you can snag a table. Drink, eat, enjoy whatever you fancy. Even though I am not into sports I can always go for a good game of flip cup (pool tables double as flip cup tables on some nights).
I love that they have Magners on draft because that's as close as I will ever get to being a beer girl. Conveniently located next to Haight street for bar hopping after. I am starting to realize why I end up here frequently.
It's my favorite venue for watching the F1 races live with my MeetUp group. They'd clear up and rearrange the tables in their main area (50+ attendees on any given event) and the rows of flat panel TVs on all 4 walls are just perfect.
The few times I'd been here were early Sunday mornings around 10:00am (yes ! that's *early* for me !!!!) which brings me to my favorite topic --- the breakfast menu ! I have become thick friends with all the breakfast items that I'd been introduced to so far. They are hearty with most of them consisting of a generous portion of hash browns and your choice of sausages / rashers / bacon etc with toast.
I particularly enjoyed the Florentine omlette, and even once made the greed-induced mistake of having the ignorant arrogant temerity of taking on the 'full Irish breakfast'; it was not only merely burp-inducing but also a stress on the proverbial seams that threaten to burst anytime one embarks on a culinary journey that one has no stomach for (if you'll forgive the silly pun).
But let me state unequivocally (the last time I heard it said was President Obama declaring "The United States does not torture") that the buffalo wings are not worth it's name. The sauce is nothing but a mere mixture of melted butter and oodles of tabasco sauce. Plain nose-punching heat with absolutely no taste. And the wings weren't soft and juicy ; they were rather chewy --- This was the only letdown so far.
Just your average sports bar- bartenders are friendly enough, TVs to watch the games, pool tables, decent drinks. Tasty buffalo wings (and I'm not a wing girl), but that can't make up for the restroom. Dis-Gust-Ing.
I'd never say, "hey, let's go to kezars,". But if someone I like was all , "we're at kezars, come have a drink" I'd totally go.
So here I am, displaced in SF because of work, jonesing to watch the Stanley Cup Finals game 6 and root for my beloved Red Wings, thinking no one in San Fran could possibly care about hockey...and I was probably right, except for the droves of people crammed in Kezar! I squeezed into a seat and enjoyed the game with my fellow Red Wings fans...it felt like home, except it was still light out when the game ended.
If you're from the Midwest and missing home, you should probably put Kezar on your list of places to cure your home sickness. Pittsburgh Penguins towels posted behind the register, Michigan State paraphernalia above the bar, and (insert Michigan sports team) playing on the TVs...
Am I just about to say this? I think I am. Kezar has better burgers than Burgermeister - but you have to wait longer for the ones at Kezar.
Nice beers on tap.
BEST corn dog of my life. Goddamn.
The wings and nachos are good too but that corn dog.....woweee! It's definitely something to write home about.
Note: Comes with both honey mustard and spicy mustard. A taste of heaven.
I have spent a lot of time at Kezar. Whether it's watching the Red Wings win another Stanley Cup, watching the Red Wings lose the Stanley Cup, watching Obama win on election night or simply catching an out-of-town Giants game; you could say I'm a regular.
This place does not pretend to be something it's not; it's a place to watch sports, drink beer & eat bar food. They do all those things quite well.
With a decent menu, good beer selection & a ton of satellite TVs; this is where San Francisco goes for broadcast sports. I've returned time & again and will continue to do so. Minus one star cause service is sometimes understaffed & it can be pretty difficult to refill your glass during a popular game.
I don't care much for sports bars, but on those rare occasions when I need one, Kezar is the loftiest of the low. They really do have the best chicken wings in town, a decent staff, plenty of beer on tap and so many screens. Pool tables are in good condition, there is plenty of space and the patrons are not the most obnoxious as far as sports bars go.
Today during third period, a student came into class and promptly fell asleep. I paid little attention to it, as he's caused trouble before and I wanted to avoid a fight. I figured I could have a little chat with him at the end of the period.
Approximately halfway through class, the girl behind him jumped up and started shrieking. It turns out Sleepy was, in fact, NOT sleepy. He was passed out drunk. And had woken up just enough to puke all over himself, the desk, and the floor below him. At 10:30 AM. These are my students, folks.
While the security officers escorted the gentleman out of the room, one of my students turned to me and asked, "Ms. F, do you ever get that drunk?"
And I had to think about it.
I thought about last night, where my kickball team and I were celebrating at Kezar after another failed game. I thought about the friendly and patient bartenders and their $12 pitchers of bud light, enjoyed en masse by my kickball league. I thought about bonding with girls in their tiny ass bathroom while waiting for the one chick who hasn't perfected the art of speed peeing. I thought about the hordes of people crowding in the backroom, playing flipcup at breakneck speed. I thought about the moment when Leona Lewis's "Bleeding Love" came on the jukebox and my teammates and I thrust our cups into the air in passionate unity. I thought about getting into an argument with my boyfriend and his friend, who both said I was too drunk to take the bus home, which I confirmed by dropping an entire pint of beer on their feet. I thought about ballroom dancing in the middle of Stanyan to the faint sounds of Journey that could still be heard from the bar. I thought about falling out of my cab and stumbling up to my apartment. I thought about the Gatorade this morning and the Taco Bell at lunch that saved me from plowing my head through the chalkboard.
And then I answered her:
"No, I'm way too mature for that kind of drinking."
Love the Kezar Pub, whether I drop in for one by myself or go on one of their amazing party buses to a sharks game. Pretty solid food, and as sports bars in SF go, its the best. Not the biggest, but its old school, and you got Kezar Stadium/Pavillion, which are true SF landmarks. Oh plus its not like lots of the other bars in the area, kinda a true San Franciscan bar(except for the detroit redwings fans)
Right across from Kezar stadium, Kezar pub combines the best of a sports bar with the best of San Francisco. There are almost fifty flat screen TVs located throughout the bar showing all keys games currently being played. With a prolific amount of beer to choose from including Carlsberg from Denmark Kezar rarely disappoints (they have been out of Fat Tire a few times). Spicy wings, solid burgers, good beer, and plenty of tables - not much else a man can ask for. They even played the presidential debate on a Friday night.
Sometimes tables are hard to find and the place can feel small with the low ceiling, and it has the vibe of a 1980s sports bar that has been upgraded by slapping some LCD TVs on the wall, but is that is why this place totally rocks. Kezar is unassuming, unpretentious - a great place to stop in, grab a beer, a burger, spicy wings, or just plain get drunk. Whatever brings you to Kezar, come casual and leave having a good time.
The most annoying game watching experience I've ever had.
I went today to Kezar to watch the Uruguay vs Paraguay fifa qualifier match, which I know is NOT a popular game - reason why I called 3 times throughout the week to make sure they were planning on playing it. They designated one screen for us with NO sound. Can't watch a game with no sound, sorry, especially an important match. I TOTALLY understand they had bigger fish to fry that day but I wish someone had told me one of the many times I called that we wouldn't have sound. I had friends coming all the way from San Jose for that match.
On top of that, I had a pretty warm heineken light and very mediocre quesadilla.
Awesome watering hole in Cole Valley. Name was kinda iffy. I assumed it would be a dirty place where you'd find urine on the floors. But I was so wrong. Inside, it was a mix of pub/bar/food bites restaurant. Great place to meet a friend for drinks and have "one of those nights" where you can meet for drinks and vent about the daily grind. Very low key and relaxed. No judgments here. All sorts of beers on tap. They serve food here which is awesome. Loved the guacamole. Decently priced as well.
Friendly service. Great selection of beers. Champions League soccer on the tele. What more could you want?
I had gone to Kezar many years before during the dot-com to watch MNF with my colleagues. We always had a great time.
Years later, I've found that I can catch 95% of the soccer matches I want to watch at Kezar Pub.
Yesterday, sadly, they didn't carry Marseille-Ajax UEFA Cup match, but the proprietor was nice enough and checked the lists again. He also told me that they sometimes carry French Ligue 1 matches.
Cool, man. I'll definitely be back if they show the Marseille matches against Lyon and PSG.
I feel it's almost required that you are expected to like Kezar's. I for one find you too busy, claustrophobically so at times (after B2B, for one) and you are a sports bar. The food isn't that great and the pints are served in cups. Possibly due to drunken ex-brits throwing a tantrum over the latest soccer game. Or just that you are cheap and simultaneously play it safe, knowing how many people start drinking at god-knows how early in the morning.
BUT (and this is a huge but) - you do show rugby. It might be early, but you show it and I love you for it. There is nothing like staggering up to a bar, blinking like a mole waiting for a game to start. I love you Kezar, but I really hate you for it.
hmmmm. I got their wings for lunch the other day. Something just wasn't as good as it was before. How come? I will have to try them again. Perhaps it was just an off day for the cooks? *sigh*

dont miss good food, good people, and a great place to chill and watch a wwe ppv for free (just buy 1 drink and food less than $10) this will be one of wwe biggest ppv's and this is where i go to watch it great wing better than hooters... nachos are off the heezy and homemade andulie sausage corn dog with jalapeno batter... and of course great pulled pork bbq sandwiches onion rings, garlic cheese fry's... the list goes on and on... i will probably start going here for ufc as well!!! hands down one of my favorite spots even though i live in fremont i will always travel to kezar for a great time!!!!
Fish tacos hit the spot. This place is busy, but seems big enough for the crowds even for the big games. Did I mention the fish tacos were good? Buffalo wings were also good.
Soccer!! Futbol!! Soccer, and more Futbol!!! I love my pub here!! Always has the best games, I miss going there, haven't been since I been back!!! Now it's time to catch some games....Great place to drink, party, dance, and be merry!!!
The staff here is excelente!! The food is, muwooo--kkk...but I'm here for the soccer, not all the food items...well, if you count beer, than ok, now you're talking....
3-1/2 stars, because I appreciate a solid sports pub.
The burger, in my opinion, is not great - which is the mark of a good American pub. There's something about the bun I don't like. But the fries are delish, and they have nice variety of wines and beers on tap.
If you're in the area and looking for something casual where service is not a priority, this is a good spot. For truly good food, I wouldn't select Kezar, but it has other attributes that make it a worthy neighborhood establishment.
