This place is really amazing.  This is our second time here.  We have a family condo in Lake Shore.  The first time, we came in winter.  The ice rink is just outside our window, and fun to watch the skaters, however if you are a late sleeper, the lakeside condos might not be the best choice (zambonis at the crack of dawn!).

The lodge itself is beautiful.  Though we've never stayed at the lodge, I did get to experience the spa.   I love the decor, and the staff is always so friendly there!  Nice amenities.  I haven't eaten at the restaurant (but for you veggie types, there is a great chinese place, Bamboo Garden, in Silverthorne that delivers, and they have thai as well).

The spa was amazing.  I am so impressed with the buildout, the layout, the attention to detail.  It is a rustic and warm feel but still very high end.  Lots of square footage, a huge "relaxation" room complete with fireplace, cucumber & lemon water, tea, and fruit and nuts snack.

The steam room is perfect, complete with eucalyptus.  They also have a pool, sauna and hot tub.  I am sensitive to chlorine, and it seems the hot tub has a little more than I would like, but still very nice!

I indulged in the Champagne Divine body treatment and a half hour massage.  My therapist Casey was obviously experienced and very good at what she does.  She was a little chatty which sometimes can be a turn off, but very friendly and helpful, and does amazing deep work.

The treatment begins with a champagne sugar body scrub...yummm and then you get a paprika body masque which is supposed to take care of your cellulite.  I asked Casey if this actually did anything in one session.  She said it does, it's like a quick fix, so if you want to wear a bikini or have a photo shoot, it will smooth out the cellulite short-term.  The detoxification process is what will take care of the cellulite long-term so more treatments would be recommended...I indulged simply for the pampering and detoxifying experience.    I really have no idea if this did anything for my saggy butt.

Once the body masque is applied, you get wrapped up in a space blanket and the vishi shower applied to your whole body while you relax and then... SHE WASHES YOUR HAIR!  how awesome is that.  i used to get my hair done simply because i loved having my hair washed.

after being sufficiently relaxed and detoxified, i was escorted into the most beautiful massage room i have ever seen!  this was a couples room and has a huge bath tub in it.  usually with the body treatment you get a quick massage and application of mimosa body lotion.  but instead, casey suggested we do a longer half hour massage instead and apply the lotion there...great idea.  casey's hands knew just where to go, and oh my goodness, this girl can go deep!!!!  in a good way.  great massage.

my overall experience was a definite 5+ stars...though this place is extremely pricey, it is worth every penny!!!   will be getting out the piggy bank to save for our next visit to keystone.

today i will go experience serenity, an aveda spa, for a massage.  we might be stuck here for a few days in a snowstorm so boohoo .... more spa for me!!!

We spent almost a week at the lakeshore condos here which are managed by the Keystone Lodge and though the service was great, the condos could use some work.
http://www.summitcove....

Despite the low temperature, the place was freaking hot.  The fact that it was a dry heat didn't help much either.  I very much suspected that it was the ridiculously old fridge that was almost constantly on.  The bathroom was pretty dark and creepy too.

Regardless, it gave ample space and was great for getting some studying done while the fiance was at her software conference.  There were great views just from the condo itself.  The other facilities are great.  The people at the desk weren't as helpful with trails and restaurants as the rangers at the Dillon Office was or the bartender at the Tenderfoot Lounge with regards to things to do around the area.

One of the high points about this place is the location itself with plenty of trails, and places to eat at for those who aren't in the mood to drive.  When considering having a conference here, this place is top notch.  The convenience for everyone to get from lodging to conference is great, not to mention the excellent catering service.

Being the nerd that I am, free wi-fi throughout the entire main resort area was a ginormous plus.

I'm just here for one night so I'm not an expert but the facilities are as that of a high end ski lodge...I don't say that kindly. For some reason most winter resorts don't feel the need to be *perfect* the way, say, The Four Seasons in Maui would. Admit it. There's a lower standard.

But Keystone  is right on the river, has a great pool, great food and drink and insanely friendly service.  So It's that service that bumps this place up from 4 to 5.

i was on a business trip in Keystone, so we stayed here at the Keystone Lodge...

little did we realized that October is totally off-season for anything near or around Keystone - the view is pretty and breathtaking - mostly because at that high of an altitude, i'm missing the oxygen in the air...

the room is roomy and clean - king sized bed atop with pillows galore! my friend actually has a little walk-out balcony connected to her room... everything was nice and fancy. the TVs aren't flat screen, but i think i can deal with the 'inadequacies' of watching 'regular tv'.

there's a little piano-bar/bar/lounge/restaurant in this place. because we were trapped in Keystone for the 3 days, we ended up eating at the main restaurant - The Bighorn Steakhouse - twice. there was also a deli-type place in the hotel but we decided to skip it. the piano-bar/bar is a good place to hang out after a day of convention (or skiing). you get a good mix of the locals and out of towners mingling in a low key fashion. the TV and the piano gives a good background noise that fosters chatting without needing to shout at anyone.

------------------------------------

on to the food:

because we were a group and we ate there twice, we got to try lots of stuff, this is what we ate:

Crispy Calamari - tempura battered with smoked chile aioli and citrus confetti

Rocky Mountain Oysters - vegetable haystack and fire mountain aioli

Blue Corn Crab Fritters - red chile-apricot sauce

Shrimp "Martini" - pepper vodka ice and tomato horseradish concasse

Hunter's Venison and Mushroom Soup

Filet "Oscar" - medallions of beef tenderloin, crab meat, asparagus and béarnaise sauce

Parmesan Roasted Garlic Herb Mashers

creme brulee with berries

the calamari wasn't terribly special, then again it wasn't terrible either.

the girls and i decided to try rocky mountain oysters since we were in
rocky mountains. we were reminded when ordering that these were not, indeed, oysters, but rather 'the last part of the cow that jumps the fence'.

i'm not saying it was prepared right or wrong, apparently they slice the part and pound it like medallions and coat it for deep frying. i think it tastes a bit like beef tongue. it was nice to have tried it, but i probably wouldn't have it again.

the crab fritters were bad - way greasy, and they piled on lots of corn in there so the whole thing tasted like dessert, more than appetizers. the shrimp martini was good i thought, the shrimp tasted fresh enough, and they use large big shrimps served with the horseradish sauce.

the soup was wayyyyyy sweet. again, this and the corn fritters couldn've rounded up the desserts!

the mash potatoes were YUMMY! the roasted garlic (and oh how i love garlic) enhanced the creamy, buttery mashed potatoes to new heights.

the pièce de résistance of the meal was the Filet "Oscar" - cooked to perfection, tender, complements perfectly with crab meat (real - not imitation), grilled asparagus and a creamy but not overpowering béarnaise sauce. I definitely recommend getting this as a splurge. This menu item possibly saved my whole dining experience there... yum...

the cappucino is stylishly served with a stick of cinnamon and a rock candy stick.

the creme brulee is very smooth and melt-in-your-mouth.

------------------------------------

the spa...

so i stayed an extra day and my friend and i both got massages at the spa... big wooden doors (reminiscent of the Twin Peaks hotel if you've seen the show) and the facilities is clean. you wait for your masseuse in this big Quiet Room where there are lounge chairs and regular chairs, and magazines for you to relax with. They have cucumber water, and trail mixes as a snack as well.

i've never had a hot stone massage before, so I don't know how it compares. my masseuse was very polite, and she took care to be gentle with my recently-recovered ankle. the 80 minutes went by way too quickly. then my friend and i hung out at the hot tub area... we saw that the pool is very nice - you can get into the pool from both inside and also outside, the pool opens right through. as it was cold October, we didn't venture out, but the design is nice.

------------------------------------

all in all, this is a pretty 5-star place to stay in for Keystone. we were hearing that you can borrow a car for free for your own use for guests for 2 hours - now that's service! the staff is super polite, and will tell you anything from how to get to your next restaurant to how the free transit system works. A nice touch they had was by the front desk, they had baskets of Ricola throat drops, and granola bars for the taking - i think a lot of people catch colds coming to Keystone around change of seasons... anyways, it was a nice bonus.

5 Stars, i would go back and stay at this place if I were in the area again.

This place is NIIIIICCCCEEEE.  This might sound retarded, but I love the furniture here, they furnished the entire lodge and guest rooms with that rustic, country wood you would see in a luxury Montana cabin.  I dunno, it just adds a nice touch to the entire resort and I really liked it.

The lobby is also well-appointed and very nice, and I really liked my room, the bathroom was modern, clean and fresh, the beds were big and comfy, and we had a great view of Keystone mountain.  The lodge is located very close to River Run Village - the main part of Keystone with all the restaurants/bars, and there's a grocery store close by.  The main town, Dillon, is only a 15 minute drive away, and they have plenty of restaurants and fast food joints there as well.

Overall highly recommended.  Oh, I forgot to mention, the staff is so helpful and friendly here.
