Our family has been here 3 times now. Most recently we went for my toddlers birthday.
This place has a fun tropical theme, friendly staff, and tons to do. The rooms have always been clean, and beds comfy. The rooms also usually have a pull out couch and plenty of room for a couple of play pens or other assorted baby gear. They also offer cribs.
As adults you can absolutely have fun here. There's a bar in the waterpark that serves beer and fun tropical drinks. There's a giant hot tub that's sort of enclosed. If I remember correctly, it's 18 and over. The Crazy Toucan also has karaoke in the evening. They also have a spa that offers a good amount of services.
But WOW! The chirruns love this place. My toddler loved the area for little little ones. They have another area for kids about 4-8 years with a giant pineapple that dumps water out every few minutes, slides, and water squirters that kids can aim and assault with. They have a pool with a few basketball hoops. There's 4 "big kids" slides and also a SUPER relaxing lazy river.
Every day, besides the waterpark, they have crafts, an arcade, and other activities like dance parties for kids. Lots to keep busy.
There's a lot of food choices here so you don't have to leave. But I have never been too impressed with anything. Not awful, just not great.
All in all it's a good time with the little ones. -

Wonderful and fun place. I went to this resort with 4 other people for a last minute vacation and we had a great experience. The check in process was extremely smooth and we were able to check in early because the room was already (better than waiting until 4pm :D) Access to rooms were conveniently done with a hand bracelet and charging to the room was extremely easy. The indoor water park was awesome...its simple, but fun...coming from 20 year old college students, we had a kick ass time. The hotel rooms were clean, welcoming, and cool.
We dined at the crazy toucan restaurant located on the first floor. Excellent mix of carribean american fusion. We had excellent service and the decor was so pretty we had to take pictures.
Overall...a great experience and at the same time...its SUPER affordable. we only paid 58 dollars a person (hotel and water park). :) -

Ah, I wish there was a rating for: I used to love you, but not I'm looking for alternatives.
We have been to Key Lime Cove four times, so clearly there is much there we enjoy. However, each time we've been there we've experienced the same problem: Not enough "tubes" (flotation tubes) in the waterpark.. Each time we've stayed at Key Lime Cove we've spent a minimum of 30 minutes waiting and stalking for a tube. And, then, guarding our tubes as if they were made of precious metal.
Each time we've been to KLC, I've either e-mailed or spoken to management about the lack of tubes. Each time I'm assured it will be addressed. And, yet, each time the situation is the same.
This seems petty...but try waiting in a rapidly chilling bathing suit with an antsy child as you try to find the one item which will make the waterpark fun/safe for that child. -

My small family and I am in the middle of our overnight stay. Saw this place on our way home to Michigan after spending the new years weekend at a friends place in Antioch and decided to extend our trip by another day. Checked the rates on my cell while waiting in line at the front desk, found $129.94 for the night on Orbitz. When it came my turn in line I asked the woman working the counter if she could match the price but she said she couldent, however, she offered to put me on the phone with their reservations dept. I accepted and was offered the night for $114.95 + tax. After paying we checked into our room, got our suits on and headed straight to the waterpark. All in all it was fun, we snatched up a couple of tubes and floated the lazy river a dozen times, the wife took our 5yo son to the slides while I stayed with our 1yo baby and continued to ride the river. After an hour and a half we were kinda bored, you can only spend so much time going in circles. Wish there was more to do when you have small children here. There is a min height of 42" for the slides unless you count the ones in the kiddy pool. quick tip: if your an adult, be careful going down the wide slide in the kiddie pool, the water is only 2' deep at the end and I think I bruised my tail bone after my ass slammed into the bottom of the pool after coming down the slide. Anywayyyy....just ate some pizza from Anna Chovy's Pizzeria, used the $10.99 coupon we received at check in. Pizza was pretty good, not the best but far from the worst. Well, hope this helps anyone thinking of staying here. If you do decide to stay a night or two, use the technique I did to get a better rate. We were quoted $159.95 and got it for $114.95 and saved about $35.

Grandma (my mother) decided it would be nice to take the visiting from out of town nephew (age 8) and 2 of the local nephews (ages 4 and 6) up here for an overnight...I think she was listening to one too many of their catchy commercials.
The conversation went something like this...Her "I wanna take the kids to Key Lime Cove"...Me "okay...have fun" Her "no, I meant I want you to take me and the kids up to key lime cove"
So I was a somewhat unwilling participant in our little northern adventure but you know me anything for the kids.
Here's the deal KLC is cute and kitschy and really trying to make you think you are in the caribbean. Not too far away
Pros: contained, climate controlled indoor space with everything there geared towards the enjoyment of the kiddos
- lots of waterslides, cool lazy river and a nice enclosed space for the little ones
-EXCELLENT lifeguard staff seriously you cant move more than 10 feet without having one right there. This especially came in handy since my daredevil 4yr old nephew kept wanting to do things he had no business doing and had to be "rescued" from the water more than a few times
-rooms were comfortable and roomy
- you could check in early and use the waterpark and check out and still use the waterpark the next day
Cons:
-Food in the resort (and everything else for that matter) is WAY overpriced - my advice there are so many places to eat around there don't even deal with the restaurants at the resorts
-there was a tendency towards a bit too much horseplay and lack of supervision in some areas of the main water park but I think that was mostly
- the noise level was pretty high so not at all a relaxing thing for adults
- the hotel rooms are not exactly cheap
Overall it was a great experience and is a nice way to spend a night or two. -

LOVE. LOVE. LOVE ITT!!!!! Thsi place is just awesome. I went on a "date" here with a guy who I've been seeing (ok fine, he's a boyfriend now I suppose) and let me tell you it was SO much fun. We spend the entire day riding the slides and never got sick of it. It was chilly outside but not in key lime cove! Perfect temp, very comfortable, water seemed very clean and the overall facility was also clean. Staff was also nice and it appeared as if they like job. I'm sure most people are looking at reviews here for their kids to go to the park, but I recommend even Adults going here...as long as you are in for a good time and are laid back and like water adventures.

I def revisited my childhood! It was a quick hour drive up with no traffic. The hotel room was very clean and nice- very large, more space than I expected. The food was excellent for what it was. I had the BEST Italian Beef ever in life! The food was sooooo good considering! I tried the cotton candy for $3...it was so warm, and freshly spun right in front of you....The arcade was nice, I spent about an hour playing the dancing game in the back....I want to buy something comparable and play it at home on my 50 inch flat screen hanging on the wall! The water park area was not that large in my opinion to truly feel like a water park- but the water was warm, and the overall temperature of the room was really nice.
The rooms had VH1 and Bravo....I did take a break to watch the season premiere of Baskeball Wives... All of the hours were really good for service as far as the food, check in, check out, the arcade, and the water park area...
I did book a massage and facial ($80 each) at the property but realized I couldn't keep the appointments because there is no one to stay with the rest of your party once you go in for your services.... O_o or maybe that was an oversight on my part...
I def plan to go back in September. We stayed overnight, next time I will stay for 2 or 3 days.... Very relaxing and quick getaway...for families, couples, and or friends!
Cheers! -

Imagine this: Dante's Seventh Circle of Hell meets the lone Port-a-Potty at the end of a Grateful Dead concert on the hottest day of the year. The two of them look at each other, laugh, then puke on your bare feet. --That was the horror and revulsion I experienced around 4pm on our first day at KLC when I decided to enter the women's bathroom.
That aside, I hope to come back in the future and update this review with three, even four stars. But for now, two is all I can muster.
BOTTOM LINE: This place has potential to be great, but at this point management has a lot--I'll say it again, a LOT--of work to do.
THE GOOD (For balance, I'll start on a positive note)
--My 2-yr-old had the time of his life. Although a little intimidated for the first 20 minutes or so, there was plenty for him to do. A couple areas were clearly safe and fun for toddlers and he took full advantage.
--There is a bar right there in the main waterpark area--easy access to cocktails and sodas as desired.
--The lifeguards are a bunch of teenagers but really seem to take their jobs seriously. Gives you a certain sense of comfort.
--Even thought check-in is at 4pm, we arrived at 2pm and they let us into our room.
--Electronic wristbands are cool (when they work).
THE BAD
--The line to check-in was 50 minutes long. FIFTY! I stood there for 50 minutes while my husband waited in the car with our son. I really don't see a reason check-in would take this long. I travel a lot and have never encountered a 50-minute check-in line. Perhaps, the front-desk was staffed with monkeys, you propose? Nope, I checked. They were real people.
--Several things in our room were not up-to-par. Now, these things weren't deal breakers, but they make you raise an eyebrow. They included, but were not limited to, broken toilet paper holder, broken dead bolt (YIKES!) and a clogged sink.
THE BADDER
--Other than the lifeguards, the people that work there don't seem to really have confidence in what they are doing. I don't think they understand the idea of "hospitality." If you ask someone a question, and they don't know they answer, they say, "Hmmm, I don't know." Don't expect a "Let me find out for you" or even an "I'm sorry I can't help you with that. Maybe you should check with Mr. Flibber-Flabber." Nothing like that. Am I expecting too much from a kids' hotel? Not when I spend $300 a night for a room. No, I'm not.
--The electronic wristband-pay-for-everything-get-into-your-room thingy is a great concept, but they really shouldn't execute on something like this until they know with confidence that it'll work. We had several problems with it, including it initially not working at all (had to run to the front desk in our wet suits, hop in front of a bunch of pissed-off soon-to-be guests standing in the 50-minute line to straighten all of this out just so I could get my kid lunch). Sure, the gal was happy to help, but it took at least 20 minutes to get it all worked out. Very UNCOOL! Another problem with the band was when the locker guy couldn't accept it because his machine wasn't working. This time, we had to scramble to find cash to get a locker--also uncool as we were just told we could use these bands for everything. Just keep a credit card on you at all times.
--If the place is filled to capacity (and I assume it was when we were there), FORGET about getting a seat in the waterpark. No, no one is actually sitting in any of the seats, but they "claim" them with towels, shoes and other not-so-valuables. It wasn't much of an issue for us because we were hanging out with a 2-yr-old who had no interest in sitting, but otherwise, it would suck.
--We decided to have dinner at The Crazy Toucan, the only sit-down type of restaurant there. I called ahead to check on the wait, and the person who answered the phone said he would just put me on the list--our table would be ready in 10 minutes. We quickly headed down only to learn that the wait would be 45 minutes. "Oh no, I just called and put my name on the list. The guy said it would be 10 minutes." The clueless staff person responded, "Ooooh yeah. He told me. Sooorrry. It's like 45 minutes." Me: "But he said 10." Clueless girl, "Yeah, I know. He told me. It's really like 45 minutes, tho." Now picture me wandering away with a baffled look on my face, because that's what happened next. Then I wandered back and waited, like the chump this place was making me.
Shockingly, overall, I had a good time because my son was beside himself with fun and excitement. The bad things I mentioned above are easily fixable, and if KLC can get it together, it would be a great place.
If I paid $150 for my room, I wouldn't feel like I had a right to complain--you get what you pay for. This is definitely a case of NOT getting what I paid for. Too many minor crappy things combined with an overpriced room added up to me feeling like a sucka. -

We love this place.
Its totally hokey and cheesy, but they didn't cut any corners trying to create a slice of the Caribean. Everything down to the towels are luxurious...the food could improve, and service in the ice cream parlor. But its a cheap way to feel that you've taken a vacation. Just drive up from Chicago with your kids and spend the night. -

Despite my normal cheapness and complete aversion to large crowds, we stayed at Key Lime Cove over SPRING BREAK !!!!!!!!!!!.
I was pleasantly surprised that despite operating at maximum capacity while we were there, the crowds were not that bad. I think that the longest wait to ride the "Vortex" (the most popular ride) may have been up to 15 minutes (although it is hard to judge time while standing in line). And while I am discussing "lines", is it too hard for everyone to understand that there are 3 separate lines????? Read the signs people !!!!!! "Vortex, Tube and Body slides". All three slides are very fun and worth the stair climb and wait.
There are a limited number of tubes for both the "Lazy River" and the "Slides" and you will have to wait to get one sometimes. Also, a VERY LIMITED number of chairs/tables to stow your gear !!! They could use many more of each.
We had a basic room with 2 double beds which overall have no complaints about except the pillow. Next time I will bring my own. The room we had did not have a tub, but a great and roomy tiled shower which was very nice.
I really liked having the wristband that was also your room key. That saved a lot of hassle remembering where your key was or worrying about leaving it at the pool while swimming.
It was very, very, very nice that they have a rule that you must be 18 or older to be in the hot tub !!! (sorry kids, but I don't enjoy sharing the hot tub with 1-12 year olds !!!
The life guards all seemed very professional about doing their jobs.
The rest of the staff at Key Lime were very nice and accommodating.
Plenty of activities for smaller children to participate in.
From reading many other reviews, it seemed that you either "love it or hate it" here and I had heard/read many horror stories.
We arrived at about 1:30 pm and were allowed to check into our room instead of having to wait until 4pm (I have never been to a hotel that we had to actually wait until the official check in time).
While I think I would still prefer going to "Grizzly Jack's", I would have absolutely no problem coming back to Key Lime Cove and would recommend it to almost anyone. -

Check-in was a breeze, and it may have been because we did early check-in and made it there by 1:00pm.
The guy at the front desk did a so-so job explaining the wrist band system...what he left out was if you loose your wristband there is a $30 charge to replace it....never mind that you are staying there for the weekend and the water park is included in your stay, and they make you put a $150 deposit on it....my girls and I found this out after one of my daughters lost their wristband under water at the waterpark...s/n...there were plenty of wrist bands under water because THEY COME OFF EASILY ONCE WET!!!!!
The waterpark was nice. Loved the slides but I still thought the water was to chilly being as though it was FREEZING outside....they could have cranked the heat up a little on the water. It was crowded also...and there werent enough floats for everyone but they make you use a float.
The Crazy Toucan was nice...drinks were not watered down and the food...although we opted to eat outside the resort that day...smelled awesome.
D.W Anderson has the BEST burgers in town loved that!!! But....they stopped the "every thing in the kitchen sink" at 8:00pm and we were unaware. Being as though we were there for my daughters 6th bday...we were looking forward to her face when she saw ALL THAT ICE CREAM. So...we opted for a sundae instead and the waitress didnt even sing happy birthday...She said "I dont do solos guys." WTF???? So I said....I dont do tips!!
The arcade was fun for them even though majority of the games stole their tokens and the attendant never opened the machine to retrieve said tokens. He gave them one free game although they should have had atleast 3 free games.
The dance party the Leaping Lizzard had was the best part!!! My bday girl had a blast!! She loved the guy on stilts so much that they even danced together.
Paradise Mist Spa was AWESOME...Courtney is the best!
To wrap things up....we saved alot of money by eating outside the resort...there is an Ihop, Cracker Barrel, Boston Market, Chilis and Jewel for lunch time sandwiches to keep in your fridge...FYI...if you want to save money on drinks....BYOB and keep it in the fridge in your room.
Check out was a breeze. They have quick check out where you call the front desk and let them know what time you plan to leave and that your bill is ok.
I would go back again. -

Wow...I am shocked that this waterpark has soo many stars...must be because it is close by and you don't have to go to Wisconsin to have an indoor experience. Took my son and his friends he for a birthday weekend. Honestly the kids had a ball! But I don't wish to ever go back.
I rented the largest room they have which was a two bedroom suite. I spent about $800 bucks per night for this "suite" and it didn't even have a kitchenette. Just a mini fridge and a microwave! WTF...the room was small compared to what I was used to and the staff was GHETTO. Not ghetto as in Black...but Ghetto as in....hell ghetto.
The front desk gave me a defective bracelet with a missing clasp...then got an attitude when we returned it for a new one. Telling my neice "that is the last time you get to "lose or break" a wristlet...what it was broken when you gave it to us you pompous broad! Then some guy at the concession stand was like give me cash and I will make you two pizzas for $10. WTF....Classic...but you know i bought the pizza...cheating his employer. I just didn't enjoy the stay and have had much better waterpark experiences.
Compared to Kalahari or the Great Wolf or even Wilderness...this place sucks!
Compared to Grand Bear in Attawa...ok it still sucks but is a heck of alot easier to find....ok the water park itself is bigger and better then Grandbear but for what I paid for this stupid Suite I could have gotten the two story villa at Grand Bear...with washer dryer and full kitchen...mommy loves that! -

Got suckered into going there for my gf's niece's birthday... yeup, there were in about 8 of us in total from ages 5-60 (and I'm right about in the middle of that). All these amusement places have high prices. I guess you can complain, but they all do it. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Just be ready for a more tropical theme and you won't really be disappointed (no, it's not like one of the new Holiday Inn Express rooms).
The bday girl and her brother hit the water right away. I was impressed with the attention the guards gave to not only to those in the pool, but also those running outside the pool. Yes, these guards were all probably late high school or college, but they seemed very up to the task of any rescue or emergency. That impression makes me believe they are well-trained.
I also had to sit and watch various activities from coloring to filling sand in plastic bottles. While some of these rank up with the task of cleaning gutters as far as excitement, I will credit the staff for being extremely friendly.
I didn't have any complaints about food. I suppose they could have a more upscale option, but it's a kids waterpark. Save that desire for date night when the kids have a sitter. There are many places nearby to explore.
Off-peak seems to be key. Short wait times for slides, easy accessibility to tubes, and plenty of chairs (no needing to hoard your chair). No Great American traffic either.
Apparently the arcade had just been renovated when we went. No idea what it was like before, but the games we played were entertaining. You could certainly find a few things to spend some tokens on.
I would recommend this place. The kids will love it. All staff members I encountered seemed to like what they were doing and were all very friendly. I simply don't love kids like they do... which is why I could never and would never work at a place like this. (Which, is a bonus for your kids!) The Leaping Lizards area with projects was a hit.
Good work from Key Lime for the kids. Adults will be happy their kids are happy. -

Off-peak stay with four preteen girls and we had a great time.
Clean facilities all around, which is key. Waterpark was heated to a comfy temperature. Easy breakfast buffet ($, but good food) on the lower level. Fun game room space that helps get the kids out of the pool and dried off so you can eventually leave. An above-average percentage of staff are exceptionally friendly. Awesome Jacuzzi in the 2-bedroom Toucan Suite where we stayed.
BRILLIANT wristband system for the parents: no need to carry cash or even a room key, and your kids can't roam the hotel or charge items on their own.
Still, it's no Disney.
More attention to detail is what is needed to take this place to the next level. Our suite had some minor broken items (chair rung, towel hook). We had six guests in our room, but coffee mugs, drinking glasses and shampoo for fewer than four people. There is a kitchenette, but no dishes, silverware, nor even paper towels. The fridge was in need of defrosting. Misinformed front desk staff told my husband the only breakfast option was ala carte cereal at the candy store (umm, no, full buffet downstairs).
Also not cool: charged the full amount to my card the day I made my reservation, which seems atypical. Placed a $150 temporary charge on my card to cover any other incidentals during our stay. Still waiting for that charge to come off my account two days after checking out.
I'd absolutely recommend staying off-peak. We saved more than $100 on the suite by staying Sunday-Monday instead of a weekend night. And the waterpark was less crowded, too.
Pro tip: get your game room tokens with your wristband before you check out. Once you check out, it's cash only, and there's a $3.50 fee on the ATM. :( And bring your own towels. They do supply towels at the waterpark, but they are not particularly large or fluffy. -

Got stuck on the blue body slide, but had fun otherwise. Great for conferences and beautiful rooms! The hotel food was ok, but there are tons of food places around the hotel. So much to do but a bit pricey. Still it was a blast...though they should make adult hours so the rest of us can play on the slides and not wait forever to get a BLUE tube or CLEAR single tube for the lazy river.
...worst thing about the weekend was the random fire alarm going off in our wing and the doors to the lobby closing while we tried to figure out what was going on. Staff was sure adamant to remind us about quiet hours but not so much about fire alarm procedures. Their staff needs to be trained properly on this one...maybe get some older life guards as well. -

Visited recently for a single night stay on Sunday with my 17 month old. I have to agree with the other reviews - it is a mixed bag.
It wasn't great for my toddler. About the only thing for him is the kiddie pool - which would have been fine, but it was overcrowded and had a lot of 5+ year olds who should have been limited to the other 90% of the park.
It was cold outside of the water which led to my son shivering. The towels are small and the staff don't let you take them outside of the pool area. So I had to take my shivering 17month back to the room with nothing covering him. Bizarre rule, considering only hotel guests can use the facilities.
It was extremely crowded in general. It seems to me the pool area is not big enough for the capacity of the hotel.
On the plus side, the life guards seemed to be taking their job seriously and stopping any out of hand behavior. Also, it seems like the 5-10 year olds were genuinely having a great time.
In addition, the room was good. Also, the drinks at the toucan bar were good, although it did take a long time to get my order handled despite there being no line.
I think I'll be avoiding Key Lime Cove in the future, unless my family is really desperate to go to a nearby water park. -

This place is very family friendly and welcoming.
the Water Park isn't that big but still fun , there is an arcade , and then cute little shops when you first walk in , and also when you first walk in there is a parot that you can take you picture with and it is quite cute,
cute ice cream shoppe by the arcade, and a small restruant when you first walk in , if I could I would give it 4.5 stars

This place is good for young kids. Nothing great to offer older teens or adults. Way over priced for what the water park has to offer, a cup of beer was $7.00. I won't be back because the Wisconsin Dells has more to offer and is worth the extra gas. To be fair my 10 yr old niece and her 8 yr old friend love it.

We visited Key Lime Cove a few weeks back. We came to visit my family in Chicago & decided to make it into a mini-vacay. This place is awesome for children of all ages! My son's a toddler and my younger brother is a teenager - they both had a ball. Nice indoor waterpark - large enough to separate the little ones from the big kids, but not large enough to lose a child in.
Plus, there's a bar on site. That is ALWAYS a plus.
As for the lodging, we got a spacious family suite with two beds and a pull out. The bathroom area was small even in these larger quarters, but we were only staying for a night. The room was clean but you can tell the decor had seen better days.
All in all , a good time was had by all. If you are ever in the Chicago area or planning a trip to nearby Six Flags in Gurnee, check this place outListed in: Kiddie Crap

Just got in last night from a great weekend at the Cove I have to say I was very impressed. I had read and heard alot of negative things and the resort but not in my case. Well let me tell you first hand I went with a pretty large group of people and we all had such a great time we didn't wanna leave the food was good the drinks at the Toucan were awesome thanks to our bartender Zach who was really cool.
I was looking at some of the other reviews about the Cove and I can't believe these people are complaining about prices and all kinds of shit all I have to say to them is WTF did you think it was gonna be like every where you go you gonna have to shell out money you have the option to leave and eat elsewhere nobody said you have to eat there and as far as everything else as long as your kids had a great time who cares anyway stop complaining!!!!! -
Review from MARIA O.
The kids and I spent the weekend here when they opened in March 08. I actually thought it was pretty nice. You get that Dells feel without driving any extra hours. The water park was big, and there were several different sections. They had slides, a wave pool, and a little river you could float through in an inflatable ring. They also had several restaurants and shops inside. It's pretty much what i expected.
I like the fact that it was close to Gurnee's shops and restaurants. Since we were spending the weekend there, we made plans to go to the movies one day and did a little shopping too. We also went outside of the facility for breakfast and dinner on one occasion, made some coffee runs, and purchased snacks for our room. I think this turned out way cheaper than purchasing meals and snacks within the facility.
Definitely something to try if you enjoy the Dells' water parks. -

I love water!
That being said, let me tell you I have been to a LOT of waterparks. I have seen many different kinds, some good, some bad. I went to Keylime on a Thursday with the family to have a nice long weekend.
Took my 5 year old and newborn. Check in was really easy once you get past the Six Flags traffic. (Don't take the Six Flags exit, take the next one...)
They have a cool idea with the electronic wrist bands. With two kids it's hard to carry cash or credit while in a swimsuit. SO using it as the room key and a way to pay for things is genius.
I also liked all the kid oriented events. They have a giant arcade (like all waterparks) but they also had a karaoke show for the kids as well as a arts & crafts area. And if that wasn't enough, they have a giant TV and you can ask for movies to be put on it. My son was just tired from the water so he got to watch "Finding Nemo" while he was having a snack and a milkshake.
Very family friendly. -

We had a great time!
I read all the Yelp reviews after I booked our room and was worried that I had just wasted 400.00. All my fears were relieved 30 minutes after we arrived.
I think that other reviewers must have thought they were going to Disney World or some other 5 star resort.
Key lime Cove is a water park that you go to for a day or two max. It does not claim to be anything other than that.
The staff is friendly and eager to please. Our room was good sized, clean and comfortable. The Tucan restaurant was very tasty ( we ate there both night's. The arcade was fun. All the games are new and very current. The ice cream parlor is a fantastic deal ! $ 2.00 for an enormous scoop that was too much for my daughter to eat.
The water park was a blast ! We probably spent 12 hours swimming in the 2 days we were there! I was very impressed with the Lifeguard staff! They were very attentive and took their jobs seriously.
If I were to go back this is what I would do differently....
1. I would arrive Saturday morning, leave everything in the car, check in with the front desk and then head to the pools. Then at 4 pm check in time, I would get my room and bring my stuff in from the car.
2. I brought snacks, milk and cereal on this trip, but next time I would bring lunch meat and bread. The lunch we had was our worst meal there. We ate at the hot dog stand on the main street outside the pool area, and it was pretty bad!
3. I would go get carry out or pizza for dinner and bring it back to the hotel. The Tucan was good, but my kids could have cared less and would have been happy with pizza. I could have saved myself 65.00.
4. I would have brought a DVD player and a couple of movies. They have cable, but I would have rather watched a movie with the kids instead of watching Cartoon Network.
This is a fun getaway for the kids. My daughter is 9 and it was perfect for her. I would say the best ages would be 3 to 13. There were lots of couples with infants, and neither the parents or babies were enjoying themselves. Not much for big kids to do. My 15 year old spent most of the time going on the slides. If you have one child bring a friend along. they will have much more fun with a buddy! -

I give Keylime 4 stars because it's so super fun for toddlers. I was not expecting such great ambiance and cleanliness, so bonus points for that. The room we stayed in was really nice, clean, comfortable, modern and updated.. the room itself gets 5 stars. Not 5 stars as if it's a 5 star hotel, but 5 stars because it's probably as comfortable as Embassy Suites.
Keylime did not get 5 stars because the food is overpriced and not good at all. It is below average for hotel standards. The waterpark is very impressive, but there are only so many days that parents can stay entertained by it. If owners want to get the parents themselves to want an extended stay - the food needs to change. I was itching to leave for this reason. Rooms have a fridge, so I would recommend bringing grociers if possible! -

A great indoor water park, open year round. An absolute blast for the kids, with an adult-only hot tub as well.

Went to Key Lime Cove with some friends. Luckily, we only booked one night! The slides were great but that was it. The food was awful, the expensive drinks didn't have any alcohol in them, the wave pool didn't have waves and the place was as a whole-really expensive.
While we knew it was going to be loaded with kids, we didn't anticipate the unsupervised kids roaming the halls and entire complex. At one point (at 11 pm), there was a fight between some teenagers and two fathers. It didn't help that there were 50 kids surrounding them. And while numerous calls were made to security, no one came for a long time. And nothing was done afterward. Bizarre.
I would possibly go back with my kids. For one night. -

We went during the week in September and had a great experience. They have reasonable weekday rates not that school age kids are back in school. It was not crowded at all and the other family were very nice. I went alone with my two year old and five year old while my husband was on a business trip. The manager of the hotel helped us to our room (we had lots of stuff including a portable crib!).
The staff throughout the hotel and water park were very friendly and our room was very clean. The food and drinks were pretty expensive. Our room was a bit noisy due to the two large families near us.
I can see how it could get crazy in the summer and on weekends and I would not want to be there. If you want a fun experience go off peak! -

Came here with family friends w/ a teenager and an 11-yr old and it was a blast. I reclaimed my lost childhood in the waterpark in 3 days. Lounging in the lazy river was completely relaxing and the water was just the right temperature. The tube slides and body slides were so much fun even over and over again. Both the teen and the youngun enjoyed their time here and was already planning to come again. It's also nice that it's close to Gurnee Mills (who doesn't love cheap shopping?!) and the waukegan harbor where we went to see the most marvelous sunrise. Overall, it was a blast!

I'm giving it four stars because my 8 year old daughter had a total blast here and that's what it's really all about. As far as the adult perspective goes....
The rooms were nice - spacious and clean, stocked with plenty of towels, a little fridge, lots of hangers for clothes, etc. Nothing special but totally decent. One evening after swimming I went up to hang our suits and thought 'hmmmm...since this is a water park you'd think they'd have an area to hang suits up since you have to do this every day.', and before I finished the thought I noticed the clothes line contraption in the shower! This attention to detail made me happy and made the whole trip more comfortable since we always had a spot to hang our wet stuff, which is often more than once a day. I highly recommend taking all of your wet suits and rinsing them off in the tub right after waterparking, before hanging them up, so as to get some of the chlorine out of them before they dry.
The restaurants are kitchy, somewhat overpriced with just decent food. I expect to pay handsomely at a resort, but for that I also expect good quality food and it was just okay. But the prices weren't horrendous either. All these reviews claiming the prices are insane...I kinda wondered what they expected, because the prices are no higher than any other touristy place like it. Expect to spend some money but really, they weren't super terrible. I got a nice stiff drink from the bar in the main restaurant, although I drink straight whiskey on the rocks so it's hard to mess up. My husband said his Jack/Coke was pretty weak. He ordered a double the second time and was satisfied. My steak wasn't terrible but definitely wasn't impressive and by the end I wish I had gotten pasta instead. Although my generous portion of asparagus were cooked to perfection. Looks like the chef is pretty decent but the establishment could invest in providing better quality. There are lots of restaraunts 'off the reservation' and close to KLC. We decided to have one nice meal at KLC and try and save money otherwise by eating elsewhere. That worked out well for us. We went to a pub/restaurant called Timothy O'Tooles down the street for dinner our last night and they had one of the best fish fry's I've ever had. The place has a really nice vibe without being fancy and has great food.
Surprisingly, my daughter ended up just as excited about the arcade as the water park. It's pretty big with the hot dog, pizza and ice cream places right next to it. They do have a few really fun games that my husband and I enjoyed too, but lots of them are the average carnival type, steal-your-money- in-exchange-for-a-few-tickets games. She did get a good amount of tickets from a few of them and was thrilled to be able to 'buy' some of the little junk things at the counter with them. We got there on a Friday so we had a great time in the arcade Friday evening. It was a lot more crowded Saturday night and got a little overhwhelming. But even then, there was always at least one game open that she was interested in. So that was great. The arcade is also a GREAT time filler. When you have a half hour here or there or don't want to get wet again after dinner or something like that. If it weren't there, you wouldn't have much to do when you don't feel like going to the water park. I think there should be live music at the bar/restaurant, more general free enterainment in the hallway areas. There could be a lot more entertainment going on around you for how much they charge for each night.
The Waterpark - It's pretty fun. The main thing is floating around in tubes on the lazy river which lets out into the wave pool and is very relaxing and fun. I will say, agreeing with many other reviewers - the young lifeguards appeared diligent and were constantly hawking the water and the people, and there were a lot of them. One kid bumped his head on the wall and in a split second a young, male guard blew his whistle, dove in the water and carried the kid all the way to the shallow end. After being there for about an hour you start to relax about watching your kids and feel confident that nothing will get past the guards. It was pretty impressive and makes a big difference for parents who can then chill out a bit more and enjoy themselves. There are four big slides: 2 tube, 2 body; a vortex thing which is really fun but this line is the longest as it takes a while to ride it and then get out. If you look up and see a huge line, don't be discouraged right away as it's more than likely just the vortex line and the others move pretty quickly. The water park is fun and have something for all ages and the slides are a blast. Overall we were happy with our stay but I'd have liked more general entertainment on the grounds. We had a great time! The wrist bands that get you in to and pay for everything = Genius! We had no problems with ours at all and they were a God send. Hit the water with nothing at all to carry! Awesome. -

We had a great time staying here. It's not super fancy, but a fun get away for the kids. The staff there did a wonderful job in the kids club with keeping my girls entertained with games, they painted their nails and even watched them while we loaded our bags in the car. I liked that the indoor pool/waterpark area didn't stink badly like chlorine like some waterparks do. Also, the temperature they kept the inside felt like we were in the tropics, which is needed when it's freezing cold outside. We will hopefully be back in the winter again.

Well - this is the 2nd time to K.L.C. and the last. It was basically an over run ghetto. They have dropped rates to increase attendance and unfortunately the wrong people are showing up. Since when do 300 - 400lb. adults think they should go down slides meant for 3 year olds? GHETTO is who. The rooms are nice, food is good, staff is friendly - just pay the full price and it may be worth a trip. But like I said - 2X is enough for me.

Reading these other reviews, the only word that comes to mind is....DUH.
I cannot imagine why anyone would come here without expecting there to be a lot of children and overpriced merchandise. DUH.
We brought our four children here for one night and we had a blast. As with any vacation, we budgeted carefully so that we weren't sucked in by the merchandising, merchandising, merchandising. We took advantage of a weekend package that included our dinners and breakfasts. If you don't budget, you are going to find things to be overpriced and terrible because you're going to feel like you are spending too much. Which you probably are. DUH.
Our rooms were four star. The beds were big, comfortable and there was an abundance of pillows and extra bedding. There is an option for bunk beds for older children that we did not take, preferring a sofa bed instead, but that just goes to show that this resort is focused on families and children. Our rooms were clean and had a large flatscreen television, excellent water pressure, and decorated in a tropical theme. Because it's a water resort. DUH.
One thing: I was very unhappy with the crib they provided. It was rickety, the mattress was hard and was not flush to the edge of the crib, and the bars were too far apart. I did lodge a complaint about this.
Food? It's meant to be an inclusive enviroment. They don't want you to leave, but if you don't want their food, there is a ton of the usual suburbia fare (Outback, Olive Garden, Joe's Crab Shack) across the street. This is what we got:
--our dinner package included one large pizza, garden salad, and a 2-liter. The pizza was huge and our family of four did not eat it all. The crust was surprisingly good. It was big and doughy at the edge, thinner in the middle. The cheese was average, but the toppings were plentiful. The salad was big and full of crisp veggies, not just a cucumber and a couple tomatoes.
--the ice cream parlor = wow. The kitchen sink ($60) is literally a small kitchen sink full of ice cream, candy bars, whipped cream, ice cream sandwiches and topped with two big sparklers. It's served with all the different sauces on the side, but wow, it looks like a calorie tsunami I would not mind getting caught up in. My two-scoop sundae with real whipped cream and crushed Oreo was decadent enough with double dutch chocolate ice cream.
--candy deli. It's a kids' deli! It is in a big U shape. One side is dedicated to different fudges with a corner full of different gummy candies. Then there are the chocolates - chocolate covered pretzels and nuts, chocolate cookies, chocolate candies. Gigantic muffins, bagels, and scones. They serve Starbucks coffee, too.
--breakfast buffet - also in the package - was incredibly satisfying. They had everything. Pancakes come from the kitchen so you know they are piping hot perfection, but there is an omelette station, self-serve milk and cereal, all kinds of pastries, fresh fruit, and then the usual potatoes, egg, and meat options. The only problem with this buffet was keeping up with the need for clean plates.
We found the service to be excellent. Half the employees are high school and college students, the other half were middle aged women. All of them receive high marks for customer service. We were always greeted with a smile and never felt like we were causing someone to go out of their way to help us. With four kids, two of whom are twin infants, it's easy to feel like we're putting others out. We never felt like that at Key Lime. In fact, we had the impression that everyone there genuinely liked children and appreciated our presence.
The shops are full of overpriced merchandise - DUH. Don't buy it! However, if you do find yourself without a necessity (waterproof camera, swim diapers, Tylenol, pirate hat) there is a shop with all that stuff. You'll pay a premium, but it's your fault for not being prepared.
The expensive drinks don't have alcohol in them? I cannot imagine why Key Lime Cove would want drunk people wandering around a FAMILY resort. DUH, DUH, DUH!
Now for the real reason we came - the water park.
Lifeguards - 34 on duty at all times.
Kiddie pool - I wish they would have been more strict about letting older children in here. Otherwise, it was a nice, unintimidating place for the tots.
Tube and body slides - holy crap. Good times. Screamed in spite of my jaded inability to enjoy myself in a bathing suit.
Water playscape - several levels of watery good times.
Hot tub - we didn't get to take advantage of it, but I will next time!
Lazy River - was nice. If you have a hard time getting a raft, just go stand by the lifeguard stationed where the tube slides empty and the lazy river begins. He'll kick some teens off theirs.
There is also a spa for the mamas - get a package deal to make it worth it.
Key Lime Cove = great family fun! -

My wife and I took our 5 and 8 year old new years day for our yearly xmas school break mini vacation. The price was right ($129.00 for the night, including park passes) for a weekend rate.
The rooms were very nice with flat screen tv's and high end furniture and bath fixtures. I thought this was nice touch considering the water park was the main attraction. The water park was pretty much like the other indoor parks I'd been to, with a moving river, multiple slides, a gated station for tots and a hot tub. There was a bar right in the park that served anything you wanted to drink. The only problem with the park I observed was that the floors were VERY slippery. I saw several kids have their feet go right up in the air and land flat on their backs. I almost bit it several 4-5 times. Definately take care when making your way around the park.
Check in was dreadful and took way too long. That is why I can only give the place 3 stars. We did a pre-check in around 1pm that went ok, and were told that we could use the water park until our room was ready. We came back at 4pm to pick up our room key. The "room key only" line was separate from the check in line, but guess what? There was NOBODY there and we were left waiting for 45 minutes with multiple other people, This "separate line" was also for anyone else that had already checked in and needed assistance. This whole process was fustrating and it seemed like they needed more staff.
I would recommend the pre-check in though. You can use the water park while your waiting for the room and from what I observed, the check in from 4-6 pm looked like it was well over an hour wait.
Overall I thought the place was a bargain. Decent price and a blast for the kids. -

Is Gurnee the new Illinois Dells?! Or just a Midwestern Las Vegas colored swimming oasis? The color, size and price = BARF!
