Shhhh...don't let the word spread too far that Kevin's Auto Repair is the best! Tony usually answers the phone and he is always friendly and communicative. Kevin personally diagnoses problems and checks for completeness. They explain everything and break down the costs. I just don't want them to get so many customers that I need to wait for an appointment. Avoid Mondays - they have to deal with weekend emergencies.
I found Kevin's on Yelp and went there cause it's close to my work. I gave them a call and was able to go there on my lunch break. They were able to quickly look at my car and order the part to be in the next day and I was back at work within my lunchtime hour. So day 2, I head over again during my lunch break. I called beforehand to make sure the part came in, so as soon as I pulled into the parking lot, someone was out there to greet me.... in the parking lot. I was pleasantly surprised by their friendly service and quick turnaround. I was told I'd be there for half an hour as they swapped out the part and low and behold, i was out of there in about half an hour. They are very nice there, service is wonderful and the quick turnaround is very much appreciated! Any future car repairs I may encounter, Kevin's will be my first go to.
I've had oil changes and minor repairs done on my v-dub beetle here and they seem to do a fine job and are always friendly and explain what's going on, as far as my car-related-attention-span will allow. My car is more than 8 years old and still going strong.
Needless to say, whenever I'm driving to drop off my car and turn to go down Leghorn street I think of Foghorn Leghorn and start talking to myself in a Southern Accent Rooster Voice ("I Say...").

5 stars for being an honest mechanic, reasonable prices, and professional demeanor.
The last time I went here, I was rear-ended and my muffler kept sputtering every time i drove. I drove to Kevin's expecting to shell out at least $200 for a repair. Instead, he and another mechanic took it on the riser, looked under the car, examined the pipe, and turns out that the pipe just got bent. All they did was bend it back into shape and because it only took 5 minutes, Kevin simply said "Have a good day" with a smile on his face without charging me anything. That was the best news I had heard all week after being rear-ended!
Another time, I came here to get another repair done, prices were reasonable.
Kevin is the man I would go to for any repairs when I need my car fixed in the South bay where I work. Yelpers have said he offers ppl rides to work. i know for a fact that he has his people give rides to Google for sure. But if you need a ride a little farther out, ie Milpitas, he says you'd need to bring your car out early in the morning which is reasonable.
Highly recommended!
I just came here for service to my car. The Sunnyvale Chevrolet dealer wanted $150 to replace a belt in my car. Kevin's got it done for $100. Easy to deal with. Very professional. A shop that Tim Allen would appreciate.

Very good customer service and honest. I brought my VW Passat with a broken timing belt. Tony was very helpful. I talked with Kevin, the owner as well, and felt the guy was honest.
I do think Kevin's Auto is slightly on the expensive side. For the timing belt repair they wanted $700. I found a place in Mountain View which wanted $450. I know someone in San Jose who had their timing belt done on their VW for $550. I spent $300 at Kevins to see if the valves weren't bend. IF they hadn't been bent I would have spent the $700.
I will be getting the timing belt and water pump done on my 300ZX TT at Yarnell's in Mountain view for $590.
Overall I think it is a good shop, honest and probably do a very good job. :)
Thanks, Gnat C., for an awesome recommendation!!! :)
There aren't even words to describe how great Kevin's is. It's such a chill, small operation where you can drop by at any time and they will take you in with open arms. My dad is incredibly anal with his cars, and even though this is MY car, he asks me every time if I got my oil changed, checked my tire pressure, filled up my windshield wiper fluid, blah blah blah. I walk into Kevin's and tell them to check everything out for me and they gladly do it free of charge. I also went to them when my windshield cracked. They only charged me $50 for labor and the windshield only cost about $180. Amazing! Don't get quotes from anywhere else - just go here!

I found them to be very professional. They did forget the oil change, but that gave me a chance to see how it was done. The technician explained every step while I watched and even gave me a lesson on how and when to check my oil.
They also did not charge for a 5 minute job (putting on panels they had ordered for me).
I was very happy with their repairs.

I went to Kevin's Auto Repair for (1) a brake job, (2) oil change, (3) tire rotation and balance.
They are a nice bunch of guys, and did a good job. Kevin even gave me a free bottle of motor oil just to keep in my car. I would go there again.
The local saturn dealer has a special about once a year for a free inspection. I always take their problem list to Kevin's auto, and they are honest guys who tell me what's really wrong (that is, usually half the stuff is not as urgent as Saturn claimed, but they'll fix it for half the price if I want).
I've gone in three times for repairs, and each time the actual price was much lower than the estimate - and the estimate was much lower than any other repair shop quote I got.
They are honest, fast, friendly, have great prices and know their stuff. I'm not sure what else you could ask for in a repair shop. I don't shop around anymore, I just go straight to these guys.

This is by far the best auto repair joint I've found. Kevin will take care of you along with the rest of his employees. They are honest with reasonable prices. They have quick turn-around and are overall pleasant. I won't take my automotive transportation anywhere else!
thanks for the superb service and taking care of my car!

I do all routine maintenance on my cars myself and only turn to professional mechanics when special tools or heavy lifting are involved. One of the reasons I do this is I've had my share of bad experiences with auto repair shops. But when one of the wheel studs on my 20-year-old Honda Civic had to be replaced, I had to look for a mechanic and turned to yelp. Independence was booked for the next couple of days, and besides Vladimir said they would have to replace the bearing, which I didn't think was necessary. So I decided to give Kevin's a try. Tony said they could do the job the next day and could use the parts which I'd already bought. The outside of the shop was littered with cars in various states of repair and the shop floor was large but crowded and gloomy, but I was impressed by the number of keys on the counter, representing the number of cars which had been repaired. I've also found that these "no-frills" shops are often the best deals. The estimate I got of $210 was not too far off from what I thought it would cost. I picked up the car the next day and the final bill was only $158. I'll definitely go back the next time I need a professional mechanic.

I was recommended Kevin's by a friend of the business. The service I received here was extremely professional, efficient, effective, and at a very reasonable price. When dropping off my car, they provided me with a ride to work. They then called me as promised with the status of the problem, resolved it in a timely manner, and as mentioned, charged me a very reasonable fee. I highly recommend using them!
