Again, for my personal reason why I gave this tour a 4 star, is becoz 1 star was for getting it free and I could bring a friend as well. It's cool how they brought you to places where they have the totem poles and then went around the small city, later on it curved to a small bank where it led to the ocean and you could see small planes landing on the water by the in between the duck boat and the big steamship lines, it's awesome.
Overall, this is a great view if you don't want to walk around, because Ketchikan is very small so everywhere is walkable...just taking time to do it and usually the cruise only allowed 8 hours or less on each land that they stopped, unless the cruise ship broke down (Knock on woood 3x), then whoops! -

This is by far the most touristy thing that my family and I did on our trip to Alaska. I think we paid around $22 each or so to go on this, and in retrospect, I don't really think it was worth it. That being said, though, after we accepted the in-your-face cheesiness of the tour guide, we had a pretty good time.
For the land part of the tour, we were taken past Ketchikan Creek, which (during salmon season) is said to be jammed with salmon. We saw totem poles, passed Creek Street (formerly home to Ketchikan's red-light district), and saw tons of bald eagles. Then came the water part. There wasn't really anything notable about the water part except for the fact that you're in a floating duck-shaped vehicle. I guess that's pretty cool, but the novelty wore off pretty quickly. What saved this part of the tour was the amount of bald eagles we saw... on the docks, flying above the water, on rocks... they were everywhere. For a Jersey girl who's never seen a bald eagle in the flesh (plumage?), it was pretty darned remarkable.Listed in: I Can See Russia From Here!

Meh. It was okay. I wouldn't do it again for the price. If you have done a Duck tour in a different city this one will be weak compared to. Seattle's is way better. The tour host tried to be funny and he did point things out, but overall I just didn't find Ketchikan or this tour to be amazing.

The Ketchikan Duck Tour is a 90-minute land and water tour. You will first drive by Ketchikan Creek and the Totem Heritage Center. Then you will drive into the harbor where you'll putter around the docked fishing boats and watch seaplanes land in the harbor. Your tour guide will tell you stories about Ketchikan and it's history. Be prepared for lots of corny jokes!
Here's a tip: Ketchikan is a very small town and you can probably walk it and still see everything there is to see. The Duck Tour was pretty enjoyable, but it did feel like we were in the water just cruising around and not seeing a whole lot for quite a while. The cost is $36 per adult and $22 for kids ages 3-12. -

Ketchikan is a very small town. But since it rains very often, this tour will show you around town and the pier without getting wet. On the day our family was there, it was raining pretty hard. So we didn't need to walk in the rain but still got a taste of downtown Ketchikan. The part going on the water was quite interesting. We had a pretty good and humorous tour guide which kept the tour not boring. He also pointed out some interesting points along the 75 minutes tour (it said 90 mins but the tour was finished in 75 mins).
