Review from Dave F.
Grand Island, NE
I was staying with some from friends in Pepperill, Mass, got up early one morning, realized I was close to Lowell. I'd only driven thru the town on the way to Maine, and I think Ti Jean was a great writer--so I had to check out the Kerouac Park.
It is serene. I like how it is presented, with the stone memorials covered with Kerouac's writings. Hell in St Pete I even went by the last house he lived in, took a picture of it, some guy comes out and thinks I'm a nut. It is a fitting memorial to a great writer who loved his hometown.Listed in: Dharma Bums

Someone already used the term "oasis" here, and it's a perfect word to describe Kerouac Park. Amid the hustle and bustle of downtown Lowell, the overcrowding of businesses and storefronts, imposing buildings with no room for air, there is Kerouac Park. This little green space, right by one of the canals, is a perfect spot for contemplation or relaxation (and I think Jack would have appreciated both options). The sculptures are simple but effective, each providing a quote from Kerouac's works, both well-known and lesser-known. You might have to sidestep the occasional skateboarding teenager but it's worth a visit.

Review from Storm L.
Lowell, MA
This is the Kerouac commemorative park downtown near Mass Mills. It is a shaded oasis with benches and stone memorials covered with Kerouac writings and history. Canal behind with historic buildings all around and a quick walk to the busy part of the downtown on merrimack st. Nice spot to sit and reflect on Jack. Interesting location that I think reflects the man well.
