We decided to dress up in our Hawaiian garb and try Keoki's. I called in a reservation earlier in the day (highly recommend unless you want to wait outside where some folks were getting wet from rain).
There was enjoyable Hawaiian music playing in the background. The kid and I were seated in a booth where we could see the pond and waterfall.
We started with an iced (passion fruit, I think) tea for me and a virgin lilikoi creamsicle drink for the boy. The iced tea was pleasant, but the creamsicle smoothie was delicious. I managed to sneak a couple of extra sips in when the boy wasn't looking!
For our appetizer, we had the Thai Shrimp Sticks. They were cooked to perfection and had a nice grilled flavor. For our entrees, the boy actually ordered from the kid's menu. Rare indeed. He went for the chicken tenders/fries. Just so so. I had the Macadamia Pesto Shrimp which was pretty incredible. Both of us were full, but we just couldn't leave without sharing the Hula Pie. Folks, this one piece of pie would easily feed 3! It was mac nut ice cream in a cookie (?choc wafer) crust, with hot fudge sauce on top and more mac nuts on top of that.
Our server looked like a typical handsome surfer dude, but he was exceptionally friendly and attentive. I love it when servers make an effort to connect with my kid.
Boy did we sleep well that night! Both of us had Buddha bellies when we waddled out of there.

This place is the best restaurant in which you will get the most "bang for your buck." I was shocked that it was cheaper than most restaurants in the same category with the other establishments on the island.
My wife had one of the "fish of the day," the Monchong in a macadamia nut crust wich was very tasty. I had the pesto shrimp in a linguini pesto sauce which was also delightful. I was sick of ordering the filet at all the other restaurants and was almost tempted here at Keoki's because of its $25 price, and $30 for the shrimp and filet was a very good price.
OVerall, the restaurant is very nice in decor and location. The service is very poor however, you are there for the food rather than the waiter or waitress. I recommend Keoki's if your looking for good place to eat while on Kauai. Cheers!

We went 3 years ago, and again just a couple days ago. Everytime we go, everything is great about the visit. First of all, this place drips with the typical "tropical" ideal.... cheesy, yes, ideal, YES! My brain always thinks of this place (from 3 years ago) when I think of Hawaii; with that statement, I think they did their job.
The food is pretty good - not amazing (go to Roy's for that). The drinks/mai tai's are on the expensive side, but always yummy (and come with a cute umbrella & in a neat glass). The wait staff are usually HOT surfer dudes - PERFECT, And the atmosphere is very tropical, which is the best part!
If you are in Poipu, you MUST go here - better than Duke's or Roy's, hands down!!!

If you enjoy good food you will not enjoy this place. The food is mediocre at best. Everything is sweet. The waiter told us that the Ahi was tasting great, then presented us with Ahi covered in, what tasted like, Teriyaki sauce from a bottle. We even asked how he'd know that it was tasting good when it was smothered in so much sweet sauce... to which he replied that he usually tells people to get the sauce on the side. Well yeah, except he didn't! Maybe they think that having a pond inside the place will cover up for the bland food.

The ambiance was very Hawaiian and just the right tropical settling to start off our vacation. For the appetizer we had baby back ribs over mashed potatoes, egg rolls, and beef kabobs. My husband had the 42 ounce prime rib steak and I had the seafood linguine with scallops, shrimp and fish. Both were delicious. The prime rib literally sliced easily and melted in your mouth. By the way the prime rib is large enough to share between two people. Since we were celebrating our anniversary we went all out and ordered to our hearts delight. We also both enjoyed a tasty mango colada which gives me some inspiration for cocktails at home.

I guess I didn't know what to order here, because our ribs and fish tacos were very blah (I'm not sure how they can call that stuff guacamole that they served me). I assume this is one of the places that's more about the ambience than the food, but it didn't quite make up for it for us. Also, it might be a prettier scene at night, because we went before sunset so none of the torches or anything were on. I don't remember any working waterfalls while we were there either.
However, the famed hula pie, for just being a big hunk of ice cream with hot fudge and cookie crust, sure was damn good! I'd order that again in a heartbeat :)

Went for a late lunch. I had the Kalua Pork sandwich. My partner had the fish special (Opah) with rice. In a word... AWESOME! Great food, good/fair price. I will be back many times I'm sure.
We just got back from this restaurant and was looking forward to it after reading the other reviewers on here. I wasn't really impressed with this place. Yes, the decor is nice and they have a cool looking lagoon type of thing. I would recommend reservations as did most of the other reviewers. They have plenty of seating, but it got filled up as we were there.
As for the food, I tried their Coconut Crusted Chicken Breast w/ Asian Mango Sauce, which was okay. It was extremely heavy and I barely finished even half of it. The mango sauce made the dish overly sweet, but without it the chicken seemed kind of bland. My husband had their Koloa Pork Ribs, which were just okay. Nothing to write home about. We both agreed we had had better, but again the portion was huge.
The only other positive note for this restaurant was that it was less than a five minute drive from the Sheraton, where we were staying.

This setup is similar to Leilani's in Lahaina and Dukes in Lihue. We ate at the restaurant, not the casual dining area.
Great atmosphere with a view of ponds and waterfalls (man made). The only problem was the waterfalls were not working the night we went. I started out with a mai tai and it was probably the best I've had this trip. The family shared the crab cakes which were OK. I had a island greens salad with lilikoi dressing and my main course was the pesto shrimp. The salad was slightly overdressed which I hate...it was tasty though. The shrimp and pesto was awesome. If I didn't have manners I would have licked my plate clean. Oh it came with garlic bread too. I just had one little piece which was really good.
Service was good and they have crayons and coloring books for the kids.
Overall a nice experience
Convenient enough to our hotel that we ate here twice - once in the dining room, and once in the bar/patio area. Strange that they have a different menu for each part of the restaurant, but hey - it works.
My meal in the dining room was better than my husband's. I had a fish special (opah) coated with parmesan and herbs, and served with a buttery cream sauce. The fish was a real standout, though my husband's rib/chicken combo was just OK. Over on the bar side, we kept things simple with cheeseburgers and salads. Pricey, but pretty darn tasty - it was a nice surprise.
Overall, the big plus of this place is that it's walkable from many resorts on the south shore, and the portions are a decent size for the price. I would have liked to have a few more veggies with my two meals, but that doesn't seem to be the trend in Hawaii!
The food is so good here and the view is gorgeous. They have a little waterfall on the outside as you walk in, another waterfall as you walk through the front door and the outside patio was stunning. On top of that, the food was excellent. I got the teriyaki chicken sandwich and my mom got the fish tacos. Everything tasted really goo.
Been here twice and just gotta say it's convenient and just okay. The food is just alright, service is pretty laxed, but guess that is what being in the islands is all about. I guess if you're looking for local food, go somewhere else....this place is pretty much commercialized. If you're looking for convenience and a decent restaurant setting that is family oriented, this will serve you well.
Ordered the Lava Flow and it was pretty nasty by the way.
This was one of the most dependable places on Kauai to stay open later than 10pm. We were desperate to find a place to get some food after the long flight, even so we made it with only 10 minutes left before the kitchen closed.
Call me cheesy, but I really like the tiki torches, koi pond, and general Hollywood tropical theme to the place. I especially like the open walls to the bamboo and ponds. We enjoyed our meal while listening and watching the evening rain - like a covered picnic with full service. :P
The food was decent, I have no complaints. It was well prepared, hot, and filled me up! Both times we ate here it was in the bar, so the selection was limited.
Because we were there pretty late, most other tourists were gone already, leaving quite a few locals hanging out. It was fun to just chill and get a feel for the island life. Booze helps too, I like the Lava Flows - perhaps because I remember getting the virgin ones when I was younger.

Very nice, moderately priced place in Poipu. Nice setting as they have lagoons and many waterfalls throughout. Add the tiki torches at night, and you have a real nice setting. We made reservations. When we arrived we were greeted by a friendly greeter who then passed us on to another lady who showed us to our table. We ended up in an almost private area way in the far back left. Very nice setting.
The server was courteous and explained the specials. You have several fish options, and then about 4-5 ways the fish can be prepared. I like the orange ginger sauce with macadamia nuts. My fish came out cooked very nicely with a nice taste. Others in my party had nice fish selections also, and one had the bbq pork. I had a taste and it too, was very tasty.
Lots of wine to choose from and mixed drinks/beer also available. We had a wonderful meal. We also had a drink after dinner at the bar and listened to two very good men playing Hawaiian guitars accompanied by nice and pleasant singing.
Setting, decor, and their people make Keoki's a pefect family restaurant with great prices compared to others (Roy's is right next door). The are part of the mangement group that also have Leilani's and Kimo's on Maui. All have very good food at great prices.
Very nice restaurant stop at the Poipu side of the island.
A fun, festive, Rainforest Cafe-esque, Hawaiian experience. The decor really plays up the whole "paradise" aspect of the restaurant.
The lobster tail dinner features a huge portion of a poor crustacean. After consumption of said creature, the thought of possibly eating more lobster is nauseating. However, you'll soon realize that you still have plenty of room in your tummy once you lay your eyes on the delicious and sexy Hula Pie.

Pretty mediocre "authentic Hawaiian" restaurant. The fish I had was good but the salad was very small and the rice that came with the fish was bad. Our server just wanted to go home, apparently. He didn't even ask if we wanted dessert or anything else after we'd finished our main course.
If you're looking for a good dinner in Poipu, try Roy's. It's more expensive but much better.
Food: We showed up after the main dining room was closed, so I can only offer my opinion on the bar food. I ordered the Ono sandwich, which was awefully overcooked and essentially inedible, and the nachos, which were wonderfully greasy. I figure the two dishes pretty much cancel each other out, and I can say that the cuisine @ this place is passable.
Ambience: The decor is fun, and outdoor seating is available surrounding a large koi pond. Tiki torches abound. Good mix of tourists and locals at the bar.
Nice place near the Sheraton at Poipu.
We ate there couple times, and mom loved the fish and chips, my dad and my fiancee enjoyed baby back ribs and I had cesar salad.
Then tried their restaurant menu: prime steak and shrimp combo and mashed potatoes, comes with side cesar salad; and hibachi grilled ahi with cesar salad again, and cobb salad. Overall pretty inexpensive dinner, and no that far from the resort we were staying.
Would recommend this place to try out and hopefully you will like it as we did.
Overall everything was good on the menu.

This restaurant was right on the money! The fish was fresh and very well prepared. I like that they list out 5 different ways to prepare the fish - then verbally tell you the fish that they have fresh in the house and recommend which is the best preparation for the fish. This was worth every cent - and will definitely be back when I'm in Kauai again!

We go to Kauai every two years and the first restaurant we rush to is Keoki's. A beautiful open setting for being in a strip mall area, Keoki's has the best Mai Tai's around (careful they will sneak up on you) and fish dishes to die for. I am especially partially to the macadamia nut crusted ono. If you don't like fish, don't bother. You'll hate it. Fish is always fresh. We have tried many, many of the restaurants on the island and keep going back to the consistency of Keoki's.
For those that like their partner restaurant Duke's better, I guess I feel the opposite. Duke's is big, but I like the openness of the Keoki's setting. Yes, there is a salad bar at Duke's, but the lines can be ridiculous. I believe Keoki's has a more intimate feel about it. I guess I don't judge places by their salad. I go to Hawaii to eat fish and lots of it!
Early in the evenings there will be a 2-3 piece band. It's nice, but it is usually the time the place is crowded with kids. We prefer to go late when there is less traffic (the place can be a real zoo of people waiting for a table at times) and fewer children.
Service has always been excellent. Never a complaint.

In all honesty, all my visits to Keoki's have been strictly at the bar. So basically, I can't tell you much about the food, but the service, drinks, and ambiance were all great!
If you can, I'd recommend trying to catch a meal or drink here when they have a live band. When I was there with my bf, the band was basically two local guys playing some bass and guitar and joking around about island life. Definitely put us into island overdrive (in a good way)!
The drinks are tasty and the bartenders are cute and friendly. They are more than happy to accommodate drink requests (no matter how outrageous they may sound and they're really great sports about everything (I mean, customers asking for them to take their picture must get old after awhile). One time, we brought in a bottle of Silver Oak and the bartender felt really bad that she dropped the cork in the bottle (even though we insisted we seriously didn't care). So in addition to apologizing endlessly, she was happy to comp our bar bill.
But at Keoki's, that's how they are. Some of them might hate their jobs, but you'd never know it. Here, they're cheerful and generous. Truly Hawaiian style.
Let me get the facts over and done with...
Yes it is a themed restaurant... there is a Koi pond and all the funky Polynesian straw/ bamboo decor.
Yes, it has a full bar that will serve you a Tiki drink or five. Oh believe it - the owners of this place also owns a few other similar style restaurants in Hawaii.
Yes, could seen as somewhat of a contradiction to previous point but they welcome children and parents seem to bring their uber little ones there. Maybe the kids can go watch fishies swim and chase birds or something. While parents down their Mai Tais.
Yes, the waiters look like kids on college spring break.
BUT... Keoki's kitchen is good and turns out both delicious meat dishes and fresh seafood. For that, I will recommend people to visit this place.
We came here at lunch and the service was efficient. Prices are moderately cheaper than that place at Old Koloa Town we ate at (see previous reviews)... so overall very satisfying post diving lunch.
Yeah, it's a good one.
Friendly service, fresh fish prepared perfectly, nice hot rolls, fresh muffins, served in pretty garden surroundings (depending what level you eat on). You get a choice of rice pilaf, white rice, or mashed potatoes.
They have only one kind of salad: Caesar Salad. Sure, it's limited, but they do a fine job on the salad. I see other Yelpers comparing Keoki's unfavorably to Duke's, its sister restaurant in Lihue. Yeah, Duke's is better (huge salad bar), but Keoki's is good too.
The staff is accomodating (if you want something that isn't on the menu, they'll try to make it). They provide crayons and high chairs for kids.

Keoki's is amazing one two accounts:
1) The food is fresh and delectable, and surprisingly cheap for its caliber. Since this is part of the Kimo's family of restaurants, I would say the food reminds me the most of Hula Grill, which I also love. Get the fish (you're in Hawaii, duh!), you won't be disappointed. Everything on the menu is less than $20, but if you go between 5-6:00 pm, they the Chef's Tasting 3-course for $20. Yes you heard me, appetizer, entree and dessert (albiet tasting-size, but still pretty filling) for $20! Best deal in southern Kauai!
2) The open-style tiki architecture, cleverly ensconced restaurant, makes you think you're in Bora Bora, not middle of a parking lot open mall. In fact this place reminds me of Bloody Mary in Bora Bora, except a lot more updated and open-aired. Just go check it out, if you don't like the food, you'll like the ambiance.
We found this place on a recommendation and also by eating at another restaurant in the area. It's usually busy and reservations are recommended as it gets busy.
One thing I did notice on the menu (but didn't get to try) was a Chef's special set menu from 5pm to 5:45pm daily except for Holidays. It includes an appetizer, salad, entree, and dessert for about $20. Which for the area and out of the resorts, is a decent price.
We ended up there for dinner with some friends one night and first proceeded to the bar. Drinks are a bit pricey here, but a decent selection to choose from and if you are into beer, they have taps going. It's a fairly open setting and outdoor seating is available if you wish. It got cold when we were there, but it was nice.
The salads seemed to be good and nicely portioned. The flavors and options were decent, but nothing extremely creative. The appetizers were pretty straight forward and not a wow factor. There were plenty of entree options to choose from which was a good thing. One negative was that 3 of the 4 special fishes were already not available by 8pm. I personally had the chicken and ribs and it was nothing special. The chicken was good, but the ribs were babybacks, on bone, polished with BBQ sauce from a bottle. These were not great ribs at all and I was dissappointed.
The service was slow as well. We had to ask for bread to be brought, water to be re-filled and food came out very slow as well. It was not very busy that night, but in our area there was a decent amount of people. It's an interesting menu and good option if you want to get away from the resorts or hotels you are in. But this is not my first choice for dinner on the island.
Just went back the last vacation (last week of May). Food is still just as good and the prices are really pretty good considering the restaurants near the south shore. So I'm still recommending this place.

Food: good. Fresh fish tacos were awesome and came in a huge portion. Ahi appetizer was also sizable and very tasty.
Service: very good.
Atmosphere: Nice. Best described as faux-polynesian. Somewhere between reality and the Rainforest cafe. I sat in the bar which is basically open to the outdoors. You get birds, the breeze and a nice tropical feeling. Maybe not authentic, but it's fun.

One of my favorite places to eat on the Island. Some of the best, freshest fish I have ever tasted. They also give delicious little muffins before the meal that i always take one home in my napkin for breakfast the next day!

One of my absolute favorite places to eat in Kauai. Tradition is strong in our family, so just as Hamura's is always our first stop when returning to the island, Keoki's is always our first night dinner spot. This review is only for the bar area, and that is where I have always eaten, and never have been dissapointed. The food here is always good with fresh fish, and the atmosphere is laid-back, with live music on most evenings. The fish taco, which is my absolute favorite, is delicious. The fish is served lightly fried, with a crunchy golden batter on it, in a warm flour tortilla with guacamole, black beans, and sour cream on the side. Keoki's is always a perfect way to ease me back into the relaxed Aloha spirit.
every trip to Kauai is complete with at least one trip to Keoki's for the bar menu.
you can't go wrong with the kalua pork sandwich, fish tacos, or ribs. all are above average for a vacation touristed joint.

One of my favorite places to go when I was on my honeymoon. Loved the whole open air bar and restaurant. The little pond next to the restaurant was really cool. I had the Ahi Tuna and oh man it was amazing. So good. The hostess was very friendly. We went there a couple of times and wish we could of gone here more. I highly suggest if your in this area to go here

Keoki's was conveniently located within a five-minute drive from our timeshare, so three of my girlfriends and I ate dinner there many times during our one-week trip to Kauai.
It's hard for me to know where to start describing why I love this place so much. More than once while sitting there, I said, out loud, "we need to savor this place as much as possible because next week we'll be at home wishing we were here."
I guess the very best thing about Keoki's is the atmosphere. There were were out on a deck perched above a lovely Hawaiian pond full of fish, surrounded by huge plants, listening to authentic Hawaiian bands play lovely music. In fact, there wasn't even one time that we were at Keoki's that there wasn't live music. I guess it's just part of the daily deal there!
The other thing that's awesome about Keoki's is the drinks. Wow. I have so many favorites from my visits there that I almost can't list them all. Two that you absolutely must try, though, are the Plantation Lemonade and the Lava Flow. YUM!
We had almost all of their appetizers on one visit or another. I highly recommend the sashimi (we ate it almost every day), the calamari, and the shrimp skewers. One thing's for sure... they know how to cook at Keoki's.
3 stars for good drinks, nice beautiful atmosphere, and very good service. Minus 2 stars for bland food.
Ok I guess I can't complain too much because this is a fish restaurant, and I'm a vegetarian. But even still, my family all ordered fish and they said it was good but not the best they'd ever had, and the side of rice was uninspired. Places like this shouldn't focus solely on their fish and forget the side dish! That can make or break the meal.
As a vegetarian, there was NOTHING on the menu for me, but I told our waiter that I was a vegetarian and he said there's a dish that's not on the menu that they make for vegetarians. It was a sauteed veggie dish with rice. I ordered that, and it was alright, but nothing special. It was white rice, and it would have been much better if it was brown rice. I'm not racist but damn, white rice is gross and bland and does nothing for me!
If I come again on another vacation, I'll just order drinks and Hula Pie.
Daycare with alcohol
Wait in long line, set kids loose, get drunk, forget about kids for an hour.
We're having a few beers and some yucky food and there's a kid playing on the floor near me. There's another kid playing with the wires of the guys playing in the live band.
I visited the filthy bathroom and there were two kids playing around in there and one on the floor. I was extra careful when urinating to make sure that I didn't accidentally get any in the toilet. Exposing germs to children makes their immune system stronger so I spritzed my germmies down low where they could reach them.
Since no one actually CARES for the kids, And it wasn't really daytime, maybe daycare isn't the right word. How about-- Dirty Zoo with Little Fuckers. :-)

Just admit it.
You are a Haole on vacation and you want to sit down and relax in the evening, order a tropical drink, and eat some fried up, over-priced food.
Well do I have the perfect place for you!
When you go to Keoki's paradise it's like you are walking on to a "hawaiian" movie set. Tropical decor to the max, rattan chairs and even hawaiian-shirt clad waiters. I especially like the old black and white photos of Kauai on the wall. The one of the infamous slippery slide is the coolest!
It's food offerings range from fresh fish and steaks, to lighter bar fare like nachos and burgers. It's nothing special, but it sure does hit the spot after a long day snorkeling on the south shore.
While the place gets hopping and filled with tourists at an early hour for dinner, you may be surprised to find yourself amongst locals hanging out listening to live music on the weekends. I met the guy who sold me my snorkeling gear earlier that day while at the bar!
Not too many vegetarian options here, but that doesn't matter because all I have eyes for is that slice of heavenly Hula Pie and a lava flow rum drink!
Yummier than the dessert that expensive Roy's across the way has to offer by a Waimea canyon mile...
FOUR PAWS UP

My son had his wedding dinner here the other night. As Jennifer L. commented they did have good service, fresh carrot pineapple muffins and hot bread. Nice touch. There was a choice of two salads and I chose the green salad with a passionfruit dressing. Delicious ! The other choice was a caesar salad. I opted for the lobster tail ( 12 ounces ! ). Unfortunately it wasn't anything really special except for the size. This came with lemon and small dish of buttery liquid. I also had rice pilaf that had a smattering of julienne carrots which I could do without the carrots. The dessert was hula pie which was big. I shared this with my wife and we consumed it all.
All in all nice salad and satisfying dessert. Ample portions for the entire meal.
The space was nice, the service was good. The lunch menu was limited. Since we were in Hawaii I expected more fish on the menu. For lunch there was one fish entree and it was a fish taco. Again, a fish taco, just one taco! I did indeed order the 1 taco and it was ok. Its pretty easy to fry a piece of fish. I think for lunch I would pass on this place.
Touristy but it's near my boyfriend's house in Kauai so we come here when someone we know is working.
Which wasn't today.
Although I have to say that 3 people normally would have spent more than $34 (not including tip) drinking (3 beers for each of the boys and 2 frou-frou drinks for me) and one plate lunch of fish n' chips.
We roll hard la'dat.
Why only 3 stars then?
Cuz the service was sloooow, the girls' bathroom gnarly, and the fish n' chips not that great really.
Plus it's full of super chode tourists that are rude to the locals. I can't stomach that kind of behavior. Go back to where you are from if you can't respect the island culture. And please note that I'm haole so I know what I'm saying.

This is definitely a place to visit for the vibe, not for the food. It's cheesy! But in a good way. Enjoy the tiki torches, tropical plants, wooden plants. I'm reminded of a much less sexualized, much more innocent Hooters a la the islands.
Actually, the muffins and bread that came in a basket at the beginning of the meal were rather tasty. And my cocktail was, well, good enough. A big thumbs-down on the side Caeser, though -- cardboard lettuce! I did really enjoy the ginger and orange-cooked fish, though; the catch of that day was monchong, apparently a kind of pomfret fish. No time for dessert, as we were tired after our long day of travel.
Go for the cheese factor and the innocent fun.
5 stars for the Hula Pie and the Mai Tai's! In fact, the best Mai Tai's I've ever had. So, good that I went to Duke's in Malibu hoping to get something similar and was totally and utterly disappointed. I don't really like the taste of alcohol, so anytime I can find an alcoholic drink that I actually like the taste of, I am excited(and usually drunk and I love having a good buzz).
Unfortunately, very limited on the veggie options and although the bartender was very cool and nice, the hostesses seemed downright hostile at times; hovering in the front of the restaurant, sneering and appearing to talk about customers as soon as they were out of ear shot.
