I been going to Liz Ahn for the past few years now and even followed her from back in her beauty school days!
that's how awesome she is
she knows what you want and gives you the exact style you been craving for.
if you want something funky and cool she's your gal
and if you want something classic and sophisticated she can do that too
she is also an awesome colorist and really knows her stuff
seriosuly its rare to see an asian girl that can pull off blonde as well as she does
she is awesome and higly recommended! what are you waiting for? go now!
ask for EDWIN! I swear you'll walk out satisfied and feeling like a million bucks. He really cares about what kind of cut would fit best with your personality and style -- best hair guy around, seriously.
I hate when I go to places to get some specialty service (hair salon, spa, whatever) and the person taking care of me harps on me about how well I've taken care of whatever I'm getting worked on; manicurists tsking at me over the state of my talons and so forth. That's why I go to you guys, so you can fix me! Geez.
Anyway, Ashley at Kenworthy is the exact opposite of these Disapproving Debbies. Regardless of what state my poor mane is in when I have managed to make time for an appointment, she has always been sweet and complimentary while staying honest. She's cut my hair short, trimmed it, dyed it, and styled it for a night out. She always listened to what I want while still offering her own suggestions. She is professional while still being really fun to talk to and, because no one is perfect every time, when she once did do something I ended up really not liking, she fixed it no charge, no questions asked.
Five stars for Ashley, for the bright open space of the salon, and for the fact that Kenworthy both validates parking at a nearby and provides quarters for the meters out front. I will miss this place!
Being that I take out all my fustrations on my hair, its really important to find a place that will be kind to it, when I want to hurt it badly. After my previous hair stylist started slaughtering my hair (I think it was all the baby hormones), I was on the search for a new stylist.
I booked my initial appointment with Kenworthy himself, but $200+ for a haircut is a bit steep. So, the next time I tried Sona. She could so be my BFF if she didnt have a bf, lived near me, and had the same work schedule as me. We even text back and forth in between my visits.
I went from hair down to my mid back to a bob-ish look. She would not let me cut my hair for months, but finally gave in to my incessant whinning. She walked me through the whole process, asking questions and verifying the length and style before she made major cuts.
Not only does she do amazing work with long and short hair, but she is honest and very social. She remembers my life drama from the previous 3 months, and even invited me to Vegas.
I love this place, and I love Sona, and I love my hair.
If only this place were closer...
so i should be so lucky to find a great salon in such a snooty area on the first try, well i did. but what do i do? i thought i could do even better and started trying out different places, like sol salon in culver city or taka hair on sawtelle. well, the prodigal daughter has returned.
nothing and no one can do to me what bob at kenworthy does for me. i always leave him with a huge smile on my face because of his incredible shear skills. i should have known it was true love during my first haircut. i went in there, completely clueless as to what i wanted out of my then long lack of style hair. we flipped through magazine after magazine, i pointed to a few photographs, he wasn't too happy with them. finally i pointed to something and said, "that, that's what i want." bob then said, "cindy! that's not a good haircut! it's just a pretty girl!" i should have known that he would always have my best interest at heart right then and there. the guy wouldn't let me get a bad haircut! needless to say, he's given me flawless cuts and highlights since i've come back. thanks for taking me back bob!!!
p.s. i also took my little brother to him. it's not often when you see a male hair cut done exclusively with shears. major skills.
Best salon in the city. Beverly Hills location without the bad attitude. The whole staff is friendly and outgoing. Dean Kenworthy the owner is always there working alongside everyone else. The staff is also extremely well trained. I go to Ashley for everything involving my hair - cuts, trims, styles, even japanese reconditioning treatments (the salon sent her to Japan for special training). Really great experience and worth every penny.
I love this place! Sonah is the best!
Ok i've been to tons and tons of hair salon in greater LA in the past 5 yrs. I could never find one that I loved with a reasonable price...until I found Kenworthy salon.
Kenworthy salon is located in the heart of Beverly Hills but does not carry the BH price tag. I used to go to Frederic Fekkai 2 streets down for $150 haircuts by a mid-leveled hairstylist. The results were ok there. I dont love it and I dont hate it. At least the FF stylist (French guy) makes his apprentice sing French love songs while he washes me hair.
Sonah at Kenworthy is extremely skillful. She charges $80 for a cut and blowdry. COnsidering the location of the salon, product they use, and quality of the staff, I would say it's reasonably priced.
I've been coming here for 6 months now and had 4 haircuts from Sonah. Each time I leave happy and satisfied. Too bad I'm moving...I'll have to begin my dreadful search for the perfect salon again!
woohoo, finally, a great salon w/o all the snobbery! my last stylist at another place was NOT personable, and NOT good enough for the price i paid. sonah's an amazing stylist, an excellent conversationalist, and i actually felt like what i paid was worth it, for once! she made me look damn good! i'll for sure be back. it also helps that it's so close to fritelli's =)
