Training restaurant for culinary students at Kendall College, and a darned good place to eat. Amazingly cheap and with nice service. I take my Evanston clients here whenever I get the chance. The food is well-prepared but a bit ordinary for fine dining - for the price it's a great choice for a fancier lunch. Service is a bit leisurely so allow 1 1/2 - 2 hours total.

I wasn't disappointed with the food at The Dining Room. It was great and I hope these young chefs stay in Chicago so we can enjoy their food in the future. The price, however, was the only problem I had with this place. This is a learning restaurant for the culinary school and I read that the prices reflected this. Not so. For the money spent we could have gone to the Signature Room and had the same dinner. If you try this place go on nights when they offer pre fix menus so you get the most bang for your buck.
Mostly known as a culinary school. However they have a very good Bus. Mang. undergrad program. I know a few people that attended here. . You may now want to visit their downtown Chicago campus.
I work here and I love it! It's extremely rewarding to see happy students loving their education!
Kendall College is not only one of the premier culinary arts school in the United States, it also houses a dining restaurant that is open to the public Monday through Friday for lunch (12 noon -- 1:30 p.m.) and Tuesday through Saturday for dinner (6 p.m. -- 8p.m./ 8:30 p.m. on Saturday).
The dining experience is hosted by culinary students who also are the servers and the chefs. The entrees are worthy of any fine dining restaurant, but at a casual dining price. Please comment on your dining experience, since your opinion will help prepare these student chefs to become the future chefs of five star restaurants.
Kendall College sits on the Chicago River near the Halsted and Chicago intersection. The location may seem familiar to people who haven't visited Chicago in a while and you may think you don't remember a culinary college at that location. You're right. The building that now houses Kendall College use to be the test kitchen for Sara Lee. Now that's what I call recycling a well loved product.
