Kew Gardens, NY
Born and Raised in Williamsburg, i KNOW Kellogg's. I know Kellogg's the way you know that homeless woman who screams obscenities outside of your office every day for the last 8 years.
I know Kellogg's when the waitresses that used to work there on court order for community service, or trying to earn tips for their next "fix". They had no teeth. They had dirty uniforms. They sometimes did dirty things in the dirty restroom.
I know Kellogg's even when the car jumped the curb and landed inside the diner.
I know Kellogg's when they closed their doors and got a makeover that put them back on the map.
Its always been HOME to me. I frequented this place every friday night into the wee hours of the morning for bacon, eggs and the disgustingly sweet hot chocolate out of the machine.
Now, with a facelift and new management, Kellogg's is the Extreme Makeover, Diner Edition. Its the same kitschy spot with the same decent food, plus a few more additions.
I come here every once in a while with the family and we order breakfast. Because we love breakfast.
Make no mistake, it is STILL a diner, so ordering anything more than chicken fingers, eggs or french toast will result in disappointment.Listed in: Brooklyn in the Hizzy

How many times have you walked by this joint, thinking "I wonder if this place is any good or is it only in business because it's right next to the train?" Wonder no more: it sucks.
It's the worst. Don't even bother, it doesn't matter how drunk you are. Bagelsmith is around the corner and is open pretty late. -
Review from Morgan C.
I've only been here twice, but unfortunately I didn't remember much about the first trip, so I went back.
At midnight, it was full, but there was no wait. We were seated at a booth and our order was taken in a quick, businesslike manner. As starving as I was, I couldn't help but beg for an order of mozzarella sticks. This was a huge mistake, as they were quite possibly the worst I've ever had. I am no connoisseur, but they were lukewarm and covered with thick bland breading. These are definitely pulled out of a freezer, nuked and thrown on a soggy bed of iceberg.
For an entree, I had the deluxe reuben. This open-faced sandwich was mediocre at best. It was hard to tell what it tasted like because of the copious amount of melted cheese that carpeted the entire thing. When partnered with the thousand island, sauerkraut, pastrami, and fries, it was a virtual salt fest. It was a full 15 minutes later when I was finally able to flag down my server for more water.
Shock set in when I opened the check. Tip and all, we ended up paying $85 for 4 entrees, mozzarella sticks, and 4 beers. Upwards of $20 per person! Unfortunately Kellogg's will remain in business due to it's convenient location (next to Lorimer L stop) and proximity to the late night bars in Williamsburg. In the future, my wallet and I will be smart enough not to be lured in by all the neon, shine and promise of satisfying greasy eats. -

I don't understand the negative reviews. Kellogg's is the perfect diner, and the perfect antidote to all that can be annoying about living in Williamsburg.
I can only assume that the haters are the same people who fawn over each new idiotic fad, like a restaurant that only serves gross meatballs or the latest mexican place that might as well be serving dog vomit wrapped in tacos and topped with epazote. Week-old fluke ceviche? No, gracias.
Kellog's offers honest, simple food, fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The place is totally unaffected, and delivers exactly what it promises. This is how a restaurant stays in business for 90 years.
No, you won't get specialty coffee from beans that were all picked from a single coffee bush that also happens to provide shade to a family of manatees, and the menu doesn't include 12 different varieties of salsas from recipes that were passed down by the chef's blind grandmother whose last dying wish was "bring my salsa to the hipsters".
The waiters are completely friendly. If you have problems with them, my advice is don't be annoying, and they will be nice to you in return. -

It looked like a decent diner...I ordered the French toast, bit into it and it tasted completely burned. I flipped it over and the bottom was completely black. I called the waiter over and showed him the French toast, black side now up, and asked him if he thought there was anything wrong with the French toast. He looked me in the eye and said, no, that's just how we make it here. He brought me a replacement...not black this time...and I was sick an hour later. Great place.

The only reason to come here is if you are drunk and have the drunchies.
It's fine, but its not anything special. It's below average diner food, and believe me, I have no problem with diner food.
Keep it simple here - coffee, grilled muffin, drunken milkshake - and you will be ok.
And hipstards, be nice to your waitstaff, it's a freaking 24 diner not a five star restaurant. -

New York, NY
I really enjoy coming here, not because the food is that great or the prices are that good, but because it's nice to have a little bit of the suburban diner experience in NYC. I guess it's not really intended to come across as a suburban diner, but that's exactly what it feels like, and therefore has a very homey feel.
They have a pretty big menu, but breakfast is the star of the show, and the omelettes are good. I highly recommend the Italian fritatta, it is especially delicious and has tomato, fresh basil, and fresh mozzarella in it. The pricing is reasonable for New York, but the food is pretty standard diner fare. If the outside appeals to you, you'll be perfectly happy eating here. -

Not so good, even when you're drunk. The food doesn't taste like anything.

Not a bad joint to come after coming from a bar. I had their delux cheese burger. The patty was nice and clean flavor. You can tell it was good quality patty because the meat just fell apart after the first bite into the burger. It had a homemade fell to it. The crappy part is that this place is cash only and they have ATMs in front of the place but beware they charge you hella to get your own money out! I learned the hard way.

I've been going to Kellog's since I was a kid..their food used to be alot better after their remodel and up in prices it's just not worth it. I mean don't get me wrong the food is edible. but I've had diner food that far exceeds theirs. Most stuff just doesnt have enough flavor. stick to the basics..breakfast food..burgers etc and you'll be alright.

A mini review, because I don't have time to write brilliant reviews for places like this.
My state/my boyfriends state upon arriving: famished, sober, and wanting a quick meal
Service: slow, awful. Weird, because there seemed to be an abundance of staff running around this place.
Food: completely inexcusably unseasoned and simply stated...not worth eating
I will not return here unless at least one of the above variables changes. (and the most likely of these would obviously be the extreme intoxication of myself and my company) -

WORST BRUNCH IN NEW YORK!!
Went there for breakfast this morning in hopes of eating good and greasy classic diner food, and it was the worst mistake of my girlfriend's and my brunch history!! Here's Why:
1. Coffee was undrinkable, I've had better instant coffee out in the woods...
2. Ordered 2 omelettes, mine was supposed to be a mushroom, onion, cheddar cheese and avocado and instead was an AVOCADO MUSH PIE with no mushrooms, 1 piece of onion and 2 small pieces of shredded/non-melted cheddar cheese and was lukewarm.
3. Second omelette WAS ENTIRELY COLD! AS were the POTATOES, which were not only cold, but FROZEN and HARD!! Sent that one back, and they clearly just stuck it under a heat lamp (the ketchup my girlfriend had put on the plate was still there).
DEFINITELY WONT BE EATING HERE AGAIN, and my girlfriend is thinking about warning people that are entering the restaurant to turn back and head the other direction (p.s. she also would like to warn people that there are bed bugs living in the subway benches) -

I'm a fan of diners and diner food. You usually can't go wrong with anything on their menus.
Kelloggs doesn't disappoint. Its right by the precient and subway so lots of cops and hipsters eating happily (maybe not according to some of these reviews.)
I settled in and decided on a meat lover fritta. Let me tell you, this ish hit the spot. It was perfect! It was so big I couldn't finish it (I know, I know, that's what she said.)
The waiter was cool. The couple next to me were being dicks to the waiter for no reason. Hipsters need to lighten up. Its a diner. Shhheeesssh! -

The food is average. From home fries to chicken fingers I can keep going. The sevice was average and the price was somewhat fair. Only issue is I didn't like the waiter much so I didn't leave him a tip. As I walk away the guy approaches me asking me if the service was poor, I let him know so so. He pretty much begged me for a tip at which point I gave it to him.
Wouldn't go ever again after that incident. Other then that food is ok. -

NO WAY!!!
If I had written this review after my first visit I would have given another star. But definitely not after my second!
I came in, by myself, at like 9pm so it wasn't super busy but this was probably the worst service AND food that I've ever been given.
I sit down at a small two-person table and wait probably 5 minutes to get a menu. Another 10 minutes before the waiter comes to take my drink and food order.
In the 30 minutes that it takes for my fish sandwich and baked potato to arrive I start to notice the other tables around me... as well as my server's behavior. He's running around and around appearing extremely distracted and overwhelmed... with four tables. First he tries to deliver food to the wrong table... then when he gets the table right the woman's food is apparently wrong. He takes it away and another few minutes go by. He comes back out, but with another tables food. And guess what... it's wrong too. Now, I completely understand kitchen F ups... but it's your job as a server to check the dang ticket before you bring it out of the kitchen! I myself would prefer to wait a little longer for the right food then have the wrong one brought out to me.
Then finally my food comes out. Wrong again! The sandwich was right (almost), but the potato didn't have the topping that I requested (cheese & broccoli). He takes this away, but before I notice that there is NO tartar sauce on my sandwich and have to wait for him to come around again to ask for this. When he comes back out to take another table's order I ask him for this. Meanwhile, the woman at the table next to me still does not have her food, but her date does... The look like they're about to walk out.
Atleast 10 minutes go by until my potato comes back out. I ask about the tartar sauce again. I begin to eat my sandwich and it is HORRIBLE! Soggy, bland and cold. Same with the potato. How could it be cold if it just came out?! The broccoli also tasted like it just came out of a freezer. Another 5 minutes go by and I see my server over dealing with a pick up order. I finally walk up to him and AGAIN ask for the tartar sauce. Finally this comes out, but ooooh yuk, is it the worst tartar sauce I've ever eaten!! I picked around what I could stomach on my plate and ask for my bill. Which.... guess what... is wrong! AHHHHH I almost walked out, but didn't want to incite the karma that would bring. I asked another waiter to please fix my bill, left a 10% tip (too much in my opinion but my bill was so low I didn't want to just leave change...) and left. NEVER TO RETURN! -

Look if you're going to charge $12 for a spinach pie that's fine in my book -- but can you at least microwave it all the way so that it's kinda warm and not serve it to me as a watery semi-cold soup? And yes if you put the spinach pie in the vegetarian section of your menu can you at least warn me when the greek salad comes with anchovies?
The food here is of mixed quality: Sometimes they get it right, but often don't. My guess is that it's because most folks are really there for drinks or for splitting and order of cheese fries at 3am. The best part of the place is that they're the only game in town that's 24/7 and the people watching is always decent.
To be fair the food is much better than the previous incarnation. If you go here stick with the basics that can't be screwed up too badly... -

Kellogg's has Eggs Benedict! Unlike Georgia Diner and their lousy service. I came here around 2am and got my Eggs Benedict fix. We also ordered Disco Fries. It was pretty bangin. Service at night was okay. A lot of hipsters but whatevers. The inside looks a lot better than the last time I was here. They have happy hour specials. $5 appetizers and specials on beverages.
Considering how close it is to the train station and to my apartment, it's not a bad place to grab a late night bite. Their menu alone beats Georgia Diner's.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Yes, this place was ok. It reminds me a lot like Denny's.. except it has more options, and they are fast on service and big on portion size. Nothing wrong, just wasn't all that excited about the food... Although, the french onion soup was pretty good. They do have a couple of vegetarian options as well.

I'm not going to lie, I've just never really been disappointed here.
The lox bagel "all the way" is well balanced--tons of salty lox and fresh veggies. Sure, the bun encasing the deluxe burger is a little floppy, and the fries aren't always served scorching hot, but when ARE these things perfect at a 24-hour diner? I return frequently for the delicious chocolate cheesecake, and the oreo cheesecake holds it's own. The staff is super friendly, too! -

I've eaten here a few times in the past and it's well below average in terms of quality. All it has going for it is its central location around a bunch of bars. Last time i went here with a few people, we sat down and didn't get waited on for almost 15 minutes. We ended up just going to the supermarket for some food instead.

I was a bit cautious coming here after reading some of the Yelp reviews about this diner, but I figure since I live around the area and I do want to see how the food is here in case I do need to hit up a restaurant that's open at 2 AM in the morning, let me give this place a shot....or maybe not.
I came here this past Sunday with my bf and we able to get seated immediately. What was weird was that we walked by other empty booths and they took us to the one where they were cleaning the table after some people left. Once we sat down, we were turned off already with the stench that was left by the rag that had cleaned our table. Fortunately, the smell quickly dissipated.
My bf ordered this turkey cut with cranberry sauce on the side. He had a choice of soup or salad. Not liking the choice of soup they had offered, he asked the waitress if he could have the french onion soup (not included as a choice offered with that particular meal) and would be willing to pay extra for it. And she said no, you have to choose the soup they were offering with the meals. And my bf goes even if I'm willing to pay extra for the french onion soup? And she still said no, choose only the choice of soup. Crazy! So he ends up ordering the caesar salad instead. I decided to order the turkey burger deluxe.
The salad didn't taste fresh at all, the croutons were stale. Our meals (his turkey with cranberry sauce and my turkey burger deluxe) tasted like a high school lunch. My coleslaw that came with my turkey burger deluxe tasted old. The french fries were the only part of the meal that I enjoyed..
Needless to say, I don't think I would be back here. -

Kellogg's is a solid diner/greasy spoon. It's endearing, for sure. The food is very good, but the wait staff is not always on top of their game. Personally, I'm okay with that; when I go to a diner like this, I'm not in a rush, I just want to sit around with friends and shoot the shit over some waffles.
They won't seat you unless your entire party is there, keep that in mind.Listed in: Woon spots

Kellogg's has a few things going for it. For one, it's one of the only 24-hour sit-down restaurants in Williamsburg. It also has an enormous menu, stretching from breakfast omelets to deli sandwiches and burgers, to pasta, souvlaki, meatloaf, lobster tail, and ice cream. Imagine Friendly's without the brand name.
The third thing, possibly the most depressing, is how well the Kellogg's commercial vibe fits in with the new clientele living in the waterfront condos. On weekends, you can guarantee there will be a wait between the hours of 12 and 4 am for their sub-par food.
Which leads me to my actual review. Kellogg's food is not very good. It's better than your average small town suburban diner, but compared to other eateries in the immediate area (Jimmy's Diner, Phoebe's Cafe, hell even Hanna Food), it's nothing special.
However, compared to a small town diner, the atmosphere in Kellogg's is much worse. Instead of a cozy, family-owned business, Kellogg's is a vast, brightly-lit enterprise. Lobster tanks line the wall when you walk in, and there's no typical diner-style counter.
Because of the 24-hour service, Kellogg's gets 2 stars. If you're not looking to eat at 4 am, look elsewhere. -
Review from Pam L.
Brooklyn, NY
Let me preface this by saying that I have always been sober every time I have eaten at Kellogg's and I still enjoy it.
Since the reopening, Kellogg's has been even better than before. Obviously it is much roomier and cleaner, but the service has not degraded at all. In fact, everyone seems more cheerful now. Even the surly Greek guy who used to screw up my breakfast order every morning is more pleasant. AND they haven't gotten my omelet wrong since they reopened :-)
Dinner is awesome too, as long as you don't order something that has no business being served in a diner (shrimp scampi??? hello??? This is an Italian neighborhood, you have unlimited alternatives if that's the kind of food you want). Burgers are good, gyro is good, french fries are awesome. Even the french onion soup is decent (not sure what's up the vinegar review, I've never had that problem).
Again, I have to reiterate, this is a greasy spoon, if you're looking for a culinary masterpiece you should go elsewhere. I'm very happy that they are bigger and better and stronger than ever.Listed in: My Neighborhood

I see how it is, Yelp. I'm new to this check-in thing, but you're using it to keep some serious tabs on my reviewing. I enjoyed a nice breakfast here this morning, and you're already harassing me for my opinion. Nice.
So I have only eaten here once but I fully enjoyed my diner experience. It was clean, the service was friendly and quick, and everything was served on bright, white dishes which made it feel even cleaner.
The menu was rather thorough, but boyfriend and I went for just breakfast. I had three scrambled eggs + fries, he had two scrambled eggs + fries. Both needed more salt, and the fries were kind of eh after they cooled down. I also had a bowl of cream of broccoli soup, which I was a little skeptical about before it came to the table. It ended up being creamy with plenty of broccoli and the proper seasonings. It was nice and warm on this cold morning.
With a tea and a coffee, the total bill came to $16.72. Not a bad breakfast deal. -

Kellogg's is just another diner. The food was alright and the atmosphere was unmemorable. The only thing I would suggest is not to make the same mistake I made by ordering something atypical like an egg's florentine. The chef obviously had not made one in awhile and I still ate it up like a champ.
Overall, no complaints, but it's not exactly one of my go to places to eat in Brooklyn. -

It's open all night.
It's relatively cheap.
You can find something for pretty much every random hippie Williamsburg diet here, from gluten free veganorexic to caveman to whatever, because the menu is so vast.
The servers are friendly and real characters.
The food is not stellar, qua food. It's 3 star food. But it's totally solid diner food. In the context of being decent enough, affordable enough, and open all night enough, it becomes 4 star for overall convenience.
They got my sandwich request right: grilled cheddar on rye with sauerkraut and sauteed mushrooms, and only gave me a little trash talk for ordering something "weird." It's amazing how many diners get this so wrong. Usually by neglecting to sautee the mushrooms. Well, you should order this sandwich sometime. Trust me, it's delicious.
I would be so lucky to have a 24 hour place like this in my own neighborhood! -
Review from Jonathan E.
Brooklyn, NY
I found the menu challenging. It's huge, but if you're not in the mood for breakfast, it jumps all over the place (including $20+-something steak/fish dinners). I didn't want a huge meal or to carry a "to-go" box, so I went with the chef's salad.
It was a big salad, filled with greens, and sliced meat (Turkey, roast bees and salami(?)), slivers of cheese, huge chunks of tomatoes and pita, plus dressing. But once mixed together, it all kind of tasted the same. Partly my fault for tossing - but still there are lots of dishes where flavors keep their distinction when folded together. As an example, there was supposed to be corn in the dish but it was the little Chinese cobs,
I'd go there again for breakfast fare, but would check out neighborly faves for other dishes. -

How wonderful is it when your expectations are exceeded?
Ordered dinner from these guys -- bacon cheeseburger and a side of honey mustard. Ordered on http://delivery.com They remembered the honey mustard (even though it was in the notes). I live 3/4 of a mile away and food was hot. It took exactly 30 minutes. My burger was big and delicious.
Maybe I am partially excited bcs I had such low expectations when ordering, but truly these guys do delivery right. -

This diner is a solid 3 star venue.
The food is good, the service is good, and the classic 80's diner atmosphere is good. Nothing about it is amazing so if your looking for more, then give this place a miss. If your looking for a classic diner experience, with decent food & service at a fair price then it's worth the trip.
I also recommend checking out the antique & second hand warehouses in the area. You'll find some great buys! -

Hipster would say it's quaint. There are no organic/ fair trade bs going on in here. The food overall was okay , nothing spectacular. Brunch was alright as well. Nothing really stands out , I don't see much transplants in here. It's so odd, all I see are residents of old willy-b and tourists. I do give cred to its longevity , it's been around for awhile and I remember it was a diner dump that needed serious remodeling about 5-6 years ago. But on a more positive note because of it's 24hr access one could presume that it's good for drunks and obnoxious undergrads in the area that tip with attitude and piss. (:

1.5
I have been to what, maybe 30 or 40 diners in my life.. This stands out and being the worst of the bunch. I love the fact that they have a lobster tank..
This place is gross. And not even cheap.. Oh the ingredients are cheap. The disgusting vinegary mayo packets they provide, the gravy that is a pile of flour mixed with beef base. The sweet thick chalky sprinkles or the whipped cream that is more air than anything.. Yes, those ingredients are all cheap.. But, the menu is certainly not priced cheap.. I mean, i have eaten sandwiches out of vending machines but, they cost 3 bucks and even then you will most likely get Hellman's.
It comes as no surprise that the only positive reviews are from people who ate here while drunk..
Someone we were with ordered the French Onion Soup.. It was strangely, strongly vinegar tasting.. Honestly, it tasted like it was a vinegar soup.. I have never tasted anything like it.. Outside of... perhaps, a salad.
I had a turkey club,. The turkey was roasted turkey but, the mayo was this bullshit cheap thin Miracle Whip knock off.. Disgusting.. Bacon was, sad. I felt sorry for the little guys. The french fries were those fat soggy starchy bombs.. When asked for cheese fries they literally place two slices of cold cheese on top of the fries.. The cheese did not even melt..
Someone ordered an ice cream Sunday.. The whipped cream was that super airated junk.. The sprinkles were those super cheap and overly sugary broke ass sprinkles.. But, the kicker.. They were stale.. Like, super gross stale.. A brief scan of the dessert case and you can see a Red Velvet cake that is so old that it has started to bleed into the soggy cardboard base it was resting on.. Just gross.
Everything about this place screams garbage.. Except that is for the shiny exterior of the place.. They must have expended all of their money and efforts on the construction.. Because the food preparation is clearly flawed, lazy, cheap and just incompetent.
Well left feeling sad and rather queezy.. We were having such a fun night and after dinner we all just decided to call it a night..
Prices were high.. 11 bucks for a club sandwich, 5 bucks for sweet potato fries, 11 bucks for a Greek Salad which was mainly lettuce..
How this place is packed.. Between this and Moderno on the opposite corner, not a great block..
Service was always put out when we asked for crazy things like spoons.. -

Review from David L.
I came in last night with three friends around 4 or 5 AM, I really don't remember -- it was that kind of night -- at an apartment party a straight boy made out with my face and the outside of my lips to prove his open-mindedness (I wish now that I'd opened my mouth, he was super cute), my friend accidentally assaulted and victimized a woman while she was tying her shoe, people were skateboarding, there was a shaved cat, there was some sort of conversation trying to make sense of why some Christians aren't very loving or accepting or forgiving or tolerant (perhaps they're "reading" different books than the ones I've been intensively studying the past 20-something years of my life), and somehow I ended up watching somebody pee.
We had a bottle of wine with us -- somehow this magnificent Malbec managed to stowaway in my Rag & Bone cargo-shorts pocket, oops -- and our waiter offered to bring us a bottle opener and wine glasses, even though they sell alcohol here (although now that I think about it, it was too late for them to sell us any) he didn't charge us a corking fee... It was extremely nice of him, he was very friendly and extremely patient with our late-night drunken silliness.
I had two poached eggs with corned-beef hash and home fries and buttered whole-wheat toast. I don't really remember what my friends got, but we all agreed that the food was pretty good... I'd definitely come back. -

Mind you I was drunk as all hell when I came in here. I know I had a Bacon Omelette which I almost let go in the bathroom (you guess what that means).
From what I do remember it was 6am and the service was cool. Get the feeling they hate drunk people coming in at this hour making a mess of the place.
I liked it. Just need to be there now when I'm sober...Listed in: Best Eats....

Colleen is going to try and lie to you. Oh yes, she will.
We'll get to that in a moment.
Like she said in her review (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), if you want it fried, they have it for you at Kellogg's. Do they have Kellogg's brand cereal? No. Though if they did, it probably would be fried.
You'd think that a Southern guy like me would be all about a fried place, and usually I am, but in my endless search for a post-drinking establishment that can even pretend to place itself within 10 miles of the universe that is Waffle House, I've yet to find anywhere that even hold a candle to the venerable late-night institution.
Kellogg's is ok ... and probably more so because of the high level of intoxication we had encountered before arriving. Mozzarella sticks that could have easily been microwaved were tasty, but the calamari* was iffy at best and the pizza fries, though a commendable attempt, had not enough cheese and way too much sauce to work.
That said, the waitress we had was super-nice and the restaurant gave the perfect suddenly-in-Jersey kind of feel. Booths rock.
If I'm ever at Pete's Candy Store, I can see hanging out here again. But I wouldn't go out of my way for it.
* - I know, I know, probably a bad choice. We didn't have any milk, so the calamari had to do.
** - She said I ate most of the cake. Not even close to true! I left all the sugary icing for her. I mean, that's kind of nice, right?
