Great experience!
Booked them via their site (super easy), had great communication with Chris all afternoon prior to my appointment, and he did a great job. Incredibly nice guy, explained what he needed to do, and was quickly in and out of the house. Keller will absolutely be my first phone call the next time I need any kind of locksmithing services. Highly recommend! -

I have Keller Lock and Safe on my speed-dial and you should too.
I've locked myself out 3 times in the last few years, so it is quite comforting to not have to yelp and google on Friday nights when I've inevitably walked out in t-shirts and shorts to throw away the garbage. Before they were on speed-dial, I had tried a few locksmiths I thought might be them, and had the typical experience: flailing attempts to pick the lock, an exasperated explanation that while he'd prefer not to, we will have to drill the lock, and a resigned offer to replace the locks. I'm clearly an idiot for needing a locksmith so often, but at least I knew I was being scammed and happily sacrificed an extra service fee to minimize the plundering the other crooks try to give me.
I think some of the bad reviews have in common the phone issue. I've never had that issue, but I've been told multiple times that using their online scheduling is the most reliable method if possible (obviously not on a Friday night post-trash dump). They also told me that they and other reputable locksmiths have been mimicked on google with a different phone number so some shady locksmith actually answer your call. No idea if that's true, but might explain other bad reviews.
My first review, I'll get to someone I despise soon...Wish I remembered the other crook's name. -

My husband booked in an appointment with Keller Lock & Safe to re-key our doors since we were new to our condo. He was running late on a Saturday but we were flexible, so he called to let us know. He and his son who also works for him arrived, and promptly took off their shoes without being asked and quickly got to work. My husband had gotten an estimate via email with them and the total cost was within $10 of the estimate which we appreciated! They knew I had a 11-month old baby (who was awake when they first arrived) and once she was down napping they (again, without being asked or told) were very quiet and the son was whispering to his father. As a mom who appreciates customer service I was very pleased and He should be proud of his fine son! They seem like a wonderful family business.
Would definitely recommend to others and use again if needed. -

Great experience with these guys. They couldn't make it to our original appointment because of an emergency appointment with another client, but they called 2.5 hours in advance to notify me. We rescheduled, and our guy showed up right on time. He rekeyed our locks quickly and even fixed one of our locks so the deadbolt was easier to operate. Very pleased, and the price was reasonable.

Keller Lock and Safe is amazing! How can it get better than firemen to come out and change your locks? They are a wealth of knowlage about locks, doors and your smoke alarm.;) Their prices are totally fair and he even gave me money off the service charge the second time they were here. I will refer them to anyone who needs a locksmith.

Left two voicemails two weeks ago and never called back. On my third try of calling them, due to their stellar Yelp reviews, I finally got to talk to Brian. We scheduled the appointment for last Monday for him to come and give us an estimate in installing new locks on a two unit building (17 locks; it's not a small job).
He showed up on Monday and we went over everything. He took down notes and I thought ok, this might work out after all. He said he'd get back to me with a price in a couple of days. Great! I am excited because he seemed like a nice guy.
A week went by and I called to follow up the following Monday. At first, he didn't sound like he even remembered this job and then he said that his computer broke down so he couldn't email me the estimate. I told him to just to text me a bottom line quote. He said he will as soon as he get home. Nothing.
Called again on Tuesday to follow up and he said he will get his partner to send me something by 1 PM because his computer still doesn't work and he got home late last night. It's now 1:40 PM and I have a feeling that this is not going to work between us after all... He didn't pick up his phone and I left a voicemail asking if he plan on getting back to me. I understand we can get busy (I also run my own business and I am a one-woman shop) but this is absolutely ridiculous! At least he could have just called and give me a reason why he couldn't get the estimate to me this third time around. NOTHING.
Maybe they are great when they actually show up to do the work but as of now, I am extremely disappointed at the flakiness and the lack of professionalism this company have shown. I am counting the no. of calls I've made to get that initial estimate sent to me and it's over 6 calls of following up from me. I would never recommend them to anyone else unless they like to have a frustrating experience or need more drama in their life. Furthermore, I should have listened to my husband and checked their Angie's List reviews: not good at all. -

Paul came in and re-keyed my entire home including the garage. One key operates all locks which is very convenient. I am very pleased with the quality of work and service. Highly recommend Keller Lock and Safe to anyone. By the way I used their on-line scheduling which worked perfectly.

These guys are fantastic. Our condo association had them out to fix the front door, and they were so nice and reasonably priced that we wound up hiring them to do a lot more for the whole building.
Paul and Brian are great. The locks they sell are high-quality and the estimate matched the end price. All work was done quickly, efficiently, and professionally. I highly recommend them! -

I could not BELIEVE I'd lost an important key to my bosses' business. And my bosses were out of town! I could not, could not believe it. Where could my key have gone?
I was pacing around the shop, panicking. I googled how to change a lock. I googled how expensive it would be to pay someone else to change a lock. Google told me that simply re-keying a lock -- that's when someone shifts the tumbler around inside the lock so that a new key will fit -- is cheaper and faster than replacing a lock.
So, on a Sunday night in my workplace afterhours, I was on our iMac, hunting around Yelp for someone who could "re-key." These guys! These guys can do that! And I called, and Brian answered, and he said he'd drop by in an hour.
And half an hour later I saw him drive up, and I poked my head out of the gate, and I was like, that was not one hour. And he grinned. I gave him a key and directed him to the lock, and he easily removed the lock and took it to his van. I had one cigarette, and I checked my email, and by then he had returned with the lock and eight new keys.
The whole ordeal was quick, painless, and so much less money than it could have been. I am beside myself with gratitude, and I look forward to employing Keller's services again -- I mean, not in an emergency situation, but just to have my apartment re-keyed. -

I would have loved to have tried these guys but they didn't return a phone call to my 2 attempts nor my email. I was looking to have 2 Medeco locks installed which I know would have been a $600+ job but apparently that job isn't big enough.

Brian has gotten me out of a jam more than once. Being the bonehead that I am, I've managed to lock myself out twice in the same month. Both times he came to the rescue on time and was very professional.
I've seen my fair share of shady locksmith operations and shoddy workmanship. Many of the previous guys take forever to do the work and then charges you prices that made you wish they asked for your first born instead. Brian provides fair prices and excellent work. Keller Lock & Safe is the gold standard from which I compare all others from here on out.

These guys deserve every star I gave them.
I wish every locksmith were like them.
I had a problem with a locksmith I called in the middle of the night after finding them in a phone book. Long story short, that other company ripped me off and I called Keller to come and fix what the other company did. These guys are great. They show up on time, their prices are just right, and (what I think is very, very important), you can trust them.
FYI, they have a great tip on their web site: if you call a locksmith and they don't give you a quote over the phone, it's probably a scam.
But of course, why would you need any other locksmith when you can have Keller? Please, if you need one, call these guys - I was so pleased with them I want to reward them for their professionalism and honesty by sending them as much business as possible. -

after recieving an outragous quote from another company that I have used for years, I turned to my trusty YELPers for reccomedations. Easy online scheduleing, *note* this is a locksmith (duh) so if they don't answer the phone right away it's probably because they are out on the field working. They called (like promised) to let me know they were on the way and rekeyed 3 locks and mailbox. Took a hour and half of my day but they were as quick and efficient as possible. Did all the work in the van (there was an associate in the van while the locksmith removed and installed the new cylinders). So far so good!

Brian came out to change our locks today and did a great job! I called him yesterday, and he fit us in his schedule today.
He was in and out in 15 minutes, and fixed our bathroom door in the process!
Really great locksmith, and for the quick turnaround and service provided, it was a good price as well. Highly recommended! -

I called FOUR locksmiths in Chicago and Brian was the only one to return my calls. He came out quickly to make a key for one of our locks and was really fairly priced.
Even though it turned out that our neighbor had a key the whole time, making a locksmith unneccessary, he still made us a few key copies and charged us a much lower price.
If I ever need a locksmith in the future, I will first check with my neighbors, and then call Keller Lock & Safe. -

Trustworthy honest guy. He called me saying he was running 20mins late. No problem. Took care of fixing my lock and installed a deadbolt for me.
Put these guys in my mobile and my wifes mobile should we have any issues in the future needing a locksmith.
Price was reasonable....would highly recommend -

I had a deadbolt installed as well as had other locks re-keyed. I purchased a Schlage deadbolt from HomeDepot & I liked that the locksmith didn't AT ALL try to tell me he could sell me a much better lock!
Totally on time, nice, cleaned up after the work. This is who I will recommend to friends/family & use again if I ever need locksmithing services! Thanks!

I was excited to use Keller after reading so many positive reviews. I called Brad and made an appointment for my condo locks to be re-keyed. The scheduled time came and went. I tried calling to see when he might be available to reschedule but never got through. I guess they are successful enough to neglect potential customers.
Worth noting that three other people (Matthew C., Deanna A., and Andy L.) had similar experiences but their reviews were filtered. Keller pops up on the sponsored listings - so it seems obvious the "ambivalent" Yelp filter is at work here. Look for this review to get filtered ;-). -

OMG!!!!! I lost my BF's keys. She is in Vegas WTF do I do? I cant lock her door without it. I called Keller and I am so glad I did it took them 20 mins made a key for me to lock the door and didn't up the charge because I was desperate. I will definitely recommend them to anyone. Paul was nice and courteous!

I recently asked Keller Lock and Safe come out and re-key my house and replace the locks on my front and back gates. Easy to schedule and they did a fantastic job at a reasonable price. I especially like that it was easy to schedule around my work schedule as they will do jobs in the evening. All doors are now in perfect working order and I have more spare keys than I'll ever need. Great attitude and I doubt there is any problem that they cannot fix.

We had to rekey our entire 2-flat which was very complicated because previous owners had slapped on locks here and there and none of them matched. Paul and Brian came in and did a fantastic job. They worked fast and were extremely careful with preserving the doors (the house is 100+ years old). They were efficient and very very nice. I really recommend their services!

The type of guy you want changing your locks. The guy who came to my apt. is an ex cop and current firefighter in addition to his locksmithing duties. Their price was right on mark with everyone else I priced and I'm happy I went with them. Nothing really more to review. They're a locksmith. They were on time, friendly, and easy to deal with. Awesome.

I hate to be the first one to give a bad review, but it is well deserved and buyers need to be aware.
As someone already mentioned, they are also firefighters so they do this part time. Brian came out and told me he would give me an estimate in a day and could then do the job. Over a week and not even a word from them. It is obvious they do locksmithing at their convenience and do not show any professional courtesy towards their customers. -

we just moved into a new place and wanted to have the locks re-keyed. these guys did it at a very affordable price, were professional and quick.
in fact, the builder had installed the door knobs wrong, and these guys fixed the whole mess at no additional cost.
also, our water heater needed to have the pilot light lit, and since the locksmith that came out is also a fireman, he lit it.
the longer this review goes on, the more dainty i feel. -

can't say enough good things about this guy. with a moments notice he came out at what would have normally been off hours [9 pm] and didn't charge the skyrocketed rate...
he fixed what the previous locksmith ["Emergency Locksmith" on Lawrence is AWFUL and will steal your money] had screwed up and was even able to re-key the new doorknob to my current keys. all this at a totally reasonable price; less than half of what i paid to Emergency Locksmith [aka scam artists-r-us] to have them destroy my door-handle.
seriously, this is a trustworthy business here in a sea of scam artists. i have been telling all my friends that if they ever need someone, there is really no one else you should even consider calling. -

I've had two experiences with this company, both excellent.
Last year, we were having a bunch of problems with our front door. Their guy showed up quickly and on-time, fixed the issue and showed me exactly what he was doing and why. I was charged a fair price. A good experience, through and through.
Then today, more issues with the door. I called them again and explained my problem. The person I talked with on the phone thought it was something fairly simple and he LITERALLY WALKED ME THROUGH THE REPAIR ON THE PHONE at that moment. I fixed the lock myself and saved a little time and money. Complete integrity from these guys. This is the only locksmith I will ever use. -

Brian and Paul were both really helpful at our home. I took pictures and sent them measurements, and they special ordered parts for our super old doors. After a few hours of work one evening, we later had a related problem, which they fixed for a very reasonable fee some days later. It took some scheduling to get them out here, and some special parts, but I will certainly call them in the future when we have any lock problems.

Great experience.
I have a 100 year old house and the front door lock started acting up.
Another locksmith came, broke the lock, and said I'd need to spend $600 for a replacement lock plus $200 for labor.
We called Keller Lock & Safe. They came down on a Saturday, replaced the lock, and charged $380 total. All while being friendly and helpful.

Worked out great. The locksmith called to say he would be an hour late, but everything else was great. He changed all the locks quickly, answered my questions patiently, and even fixed two of the strikers on our doors to make sure we felt good about our locks.
Couldn't ask for more. -

It's nice to see people doing business the way it should be done. These guys showed up on time, re-keyed 5 locks and installed a new deadbolt for us. The gentleman that did the work was cool and friendly. The price was very reasonable and the whole experience, quite frankly, was pleasant. Got the Keller brothers name off here; they changed locks on my newly-purchased old house, added new locks at a later date, and changed locks at my Dad's condo. Excellent work and reasonable pricing; highly recommend them!

Same issue as several reviews below. On my second job with them, I set up an appointment a few days out for them to re-key a condo. Once the time came, nobody showed up. I called both phone numbers, left multiple messages, and still have heard nothing back. Very strange.

These guys were great! They were 2.5 hours late but Dan (?) had called and told me that his previous job run over. Luckily I work from home so I can be lenient on the time. I give 4 instead of 5 stars because he said he'll be an hour late, but turned out 2 hours and he didn't call to let me know it would be longer. Once they got here, it was quick and painless. His partner Paul also came to help out. I would call them again.

my company refuses to use anyone but Keller to take care of our lock and key needs- simple as that. we've been through our share of locksmiths and Keller consistently demonstrates that there is simply no reason for other locksmiths to operate within Chicago city limits.
