I have repented of my sins, returned to Keith Kristofer Salon and look fantastic.
My first trip to Keith Kristofer resulted in the best haircut I'd ever had. I have very fine hair and had always left it way too long which made it shapeless and scraggly. I would let each new stylist cut a more each time because I started to see how much better it looked with some shape to it but I never found the right person to make me feel WOW. Then Sarah came along and gave me a fantastic bob with all the soft layering I needed to add some oomph to my limp hair. No choppy texturing. It was PERFECT.
Fast forward to the next appointment and I was ready for cut and color. For reasons I can't remember (scheduling?) my color was going to be done by another girl then she would pass me off for the cut. After my color was done (highlights and lowlights) Sarah was still in the middle of working with the client before me. They asked if I wanted to wait for her or just let Monique (I think that was her name) do the cut. I let Monique finish and it was a really nice cut and the color was gorgeous.
Now I'm a thrifty girl and I have to admit I had sticker shock when I got to the counter to settle up because of the cut + 2 process color.... but I did not have buyer's remorse. The color lasted forever!
For what ever reason I turned into a cheapskate and thought I could get a good cut at some of the other places I've reviewed. I don't mean to dis them but it was never the same quality of service and experience. My neighbor always looks cute and she goes to Bird's. I just never got a good cut there. The last place I went was highly rated by other yelpers but I ended up with a 90s mom hair cut. No real nice shape to it and choppy texturing.
I realized I'd rather walk away a tiny bit lighter in the pockets than buyer's remorse so I went back to Keith Kristofer and Sarah Saenz (remember that name) fixed me again. I told her that I wanted to let my hair grow back out to just below my shoulders but I couldn't live with the funky shape I had right now. She agreed and gave me a sexy cut and said to come back in 10 weeks for the next session. And I can tell you after 9.5 weeks I'll still look great and that's worth the $60.00.

the staff is nice enough and its an ok environment however the two who are in charge give a very fake and shady vibe. One seems to care more about doing just half of the work and having an assistant do the rest so she can turn over more clients while the other roams around the salon watching employees work... kinda creepy. They are not people who i'd want to give my money too. The stylists that i encountered didn't seem too enthusiastic about working there either... I just got a strange feeling.
I was pleased with the cut that i got, however i'm taking my business elsewhere and i'd recommend you do the same.
I have been an avid fan of Keith Kristofer salon for a while now, and was very upset to find out that the absolute best stylist I've seen for a hair cut has recently switched salons. I have seen both Shannon, who is great but is moving out of state, and Aydrian who gave me the best hair cut of my life. My hair was lacking something from my old salon, but i couldn't quite put my finger on it. Aydrian listened to my poorly described complaints about my old cut and wowed me. She gave suggestions on how to change what i had now to make it the best cut of my life. I would love to stay at Keith Kristofer. I love the location and the salon, and don't get me wrong the other stylists there are very good at what they do. Sarah and Kris both come highly recommended, but i have found that it is extremely difficult to get an appointment with either. I would say save the hassle and just go see Aydrian at Topaz salon.

I needed a much overdue hair cut and needed a new local to have it done. I had been looking in the DT area for a while but ran across Keith Kristofer and had to give them a try. Since I am new to the salon - I tried the "hair modeling" and got the deal of the day. There's a new talent there - Emily. Fresh and young and eager to please. She consulted with me ever step or should I say cut of the way. I have very thick and wavy hair so it can be a challenge (and time consuming) to cut. She took the time, and even did a terrific blow out and style to show me options for my cut. The Salon itself was very busy for a Wednesday morning which is a good thing. From the front desk to the supervisor everyone was easy to work with and seemed to enjoy what they were doing. ....today, the first day with me doing the new "do" was a breeze. Great cut! Thanks Emily, I'll be back.
I love KK Salon. I moved here 2 years ago, and promptly started looking for my "beauty" people. I ran across this salon, and called to set up a consultation. The receptionist that answered asked me about myself, my hair type and style. She then put me with Herve. I love Herve. He is a wonderful stylist who knows exactly what to do with my hair. I walk in, say "Help Me!!" and walk out looking fabulous, both in cut and color. Now I not only go for my hair, but brows and facials (I recommend Amber) and nails (love both the ladies that do my nails!).
If you want excellent customer service, a calm, but unique atmosphere, and some of the best hair, brows and nails of your life, I suggest calling Keith Kristofer. I have never had anything go wrong, from completely complicated updo's and party hair, to the everyday maintenance of cuts and color they get it right.
I woke up this morning feeling gross and hot and decided some of my hair had to go!! I asked a coworker what salons were around here and she suggested Keith Kristofer. I have been making the rounds of salons around Austin for about a year. The others weren't bad exactly, but there was always something that wasn't right. The person was annoying, they didn't listen to me, the haircut was just so-so. So what a wonderful treat to finally get the attention I deserve! At lunch today I had an appt with Shannon. She was very pleasant, friendly without being too chatty and she not only listened, she confirmed (!) that she understood what I was getting at. She communicated throughout the whole cut asking what I wanted and when I would say "do what you think is best", she'd say in detail what she was going to do. She took it slow so she wouldn't take too much off and explained to me what she was doing when she was layering (I probably had a horrified look on my face or something). She talked to me about product but wasn't pushy and even recommended certain brands her salon didn't even carry. The receptionists were extremely friendly and funny and I felt very welcome and comfortable there. So...at long last I think I might have found my stylist! hooray!
Not special. Not fancy. Average-ly priced. I hardly remember it. However, my hair was cut with precision. I kept hearing about their interior design. Again-not special. What's so fantastical about faux finish painting? Owner did not acknowledge my existence. Stylists looked frantic (this is the day that the hurricane was supposed to hit Austin, so the shop was a little empty). Honestly, this is a Visible Changes with a better locale if you run up Bee Caves often. I do find it odd that the 'training' stylists were only $5 cheaper to see than the 'fully triained' stylists. Also, my stylist did not appear stylist-ish. In fact, I will say she was sans style. This might appeal to you if you' re vacationing from, say, Leander or Cedar Park. Us other-siders (of the river) don't mind a little style in our stylists.

I have curly hair and had a desperate time finding a good stylist in Austin. Fortunately I stumbled upon Herve at KK Salon and he always does me right! They also offer great customer service - the owner always checks in on me to see how I'm doing. Love it!
I chose this salon because it's close to home but mostly because they have very convenient hours. I've been twice and each time found the service and styling to be top-notch. Because I appreciate value I love the fact that "new talent" stylists cost less but, on both occasions, they did a fantastic job. They do take longer but consult with master stylists as they go along. Awesome salon!
Kris does a fantastic job on my color. She matches it perfectly each time. Sometimes, she has another stylist, Carrie, blow dry my hair. Carrie is awesome and the blow out lasts for DAYS!
I found Kris when I moved here 2 1/2 years ago. I asked a girl with gorgeous hair (cut and color) where she got it done and she referred me to Kris. For all you blondes, she is incredible with highlights and blonds.
Keith Kristofer Salon is a awesome salon for cutting and coloring hair. I live in Houston but I found this salon when I was working in Austin a lot. Now, I drive from Houston to Austin just to have my hair highlighted and cut here. I've tried so many salons in Houston and even Europe when I lived there and could never find anyone who could turn my dark brown hair to light blonde exactly the way I wanted it to look. They are priced as much as other high end salons but my stylist Sara really knows what she's doing and she has a great personality too. At my first appointment with Sara, she spent a lot of time talking with me to find out exactly wanted with my color and cut and she explained to me what she would do to achieve the look I wanted. Sara listened to my trials and tribulations with my hair and came up with a solution that's worked perfectly for my hair for the past 2 years. Her coloring knowledge is exceptional. She understands that everyone's hair is unique and coloring one way may not work the same way for another person's hair. She also understands that the number one priority for a customer being there is doing their hair, not chit chatting or gossiping like other stylists I've seen at other salons in the past. Sara pays incredible detail to the task of doing my hair, more than any other stylist I've been to, and it impresses me at every appointment I have with her. She hasn't slacked off after time, which a lot of stylist do when you become a regular customer (I hate that). The salon also uses high end haircare products like Kerastase, Shiseido, and Aquage. I use Kerastase at home so it's important for me that the salon I go to use it too (just my personal preference). I'm not sure how I'll find a stylist and salon like this one if I ever moved away from Texas again!
