Came to Keegan's recently and feel the quality has gone down hill tremendously...years ago the food seemed MUCH better.

On our last visit, my mom and I both ordered a special with nuts on the fish and the nuts were RANCID! Gross!!! My mom sent hers back and they replaced it with a different meal, but I kept eating mine because I wasn't sure at first why is tasted so strange on some bites. I ended up throwing out my leftovers though. We're not in any hurry to go back, and this used to be one of our favorite restaurants.

We visited on the Friday after Thanksgiving.  The food was wonderful, service was excellent and the atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed.  We drove past several more crowded, touristy restaurants with water views on our way to Keegan's, but I sure am glad that we continued on this little gem of a restaurant.  My husband and I always have a challenging time finding seafood that we both like.  He wants the big platter of fried seafood, but I prefer lighter, more flavorful fish dishes.  Fortunately we found both at Keegans.  All the food was very fresh and prepared in house--including the fish, salad dressings and pico de gallo. I had the Cobia special which was came with poblano mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables. Wow!  What a treat!

The patio overlooks a little side street and the parking lot, but is far enough off the main road for a pleasant dinner spot.  We were pleased that the noise level was very low for a popular restaurant.  The waitress was extremely nice and helpful in her detailed description of the dishes. An excellent choice, worth the drive.

Being from out of town, I have to get used to "island time" when you arrive. Long wait on a Tuesday of all days. Fish was mediocre at best. Service poor and slow. Ambiance was a positive. Portion size was small for an adult and I am not a large portion eater. Maybe they has an off night based on others experience or maybe I am a bit too picky? Worth a try nonetheless!

Flew into Tampa and wanted to grab a bite to eat before making an 1.5 hour drive to Sarasota. I was looking for a place that I had seen on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, as Guy Fieri's recommendations have yet to disappoint me.

We were greeted kindly and seated outside. Our waitress was extremely sweet and accommodating. She recommended the octopus to start with. I can honestly say this is one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. It was perfectly moist, tender and grilled. We also split the crab cake sandwich-also one of the best I have ever had. The fries were so crisp and delicious that I was almost put in a food coma.

Go to Keegan's if you are in the mood for some perfectly cooked seafood and great service. It will surely not disappoint!

Came here with my daughter and had an excellent meal. I had the scallops ceviche and the corn encrusted wahoo which were both excellent. Service was good, although the place was slammed.  Friendly for kids, although the fruit cup was a prepackaged fruit cup with the chicken fingers. For $6, you would think it would be fresh.

The only drawback was that you could tell they were trying to turn tables, but there more than a few occasions where I had to "look" for the server to get simple things, i.e. Another drink, ketsup etc.

second best meal we had in the area.  We were seated outside by the owner,  the staff was nice, friendly and attentive.  Felt very comfortable and appreciated.  Hard to find in a restaurant in tourist area.

location is right on Gulf Blvd. but did not feel like it.

We had the cobia and the chargrilled grouper - both were very good.  I also had the oyster stew and a 1/2 dz of raw oysters.  Tthe stew had nice flavor but was a bit thin..oysters fresh and watch out for the horseradish sauce HOT! .  Carafe of sangria came in plastic water pitcher and was spicy.  Good value at $12.95.  This looks lilke a local place and serves well prepared and tasty food.  Wish we had found this place earlier in the week, coulda saved $$ over CBs and had better food.

The environment is very relaxed. On the side of the restaurant is a jukebox and a bar. Me and my girlfriend ordered the BRIE and the GROUPER BITES as appetizers.

They were both very good. The Brie was soft and was served with bread and fruit. The taste was amazing. The grouper bites came with tartar sauce. The were soft and full of flavor.

We then ordered the special : South of the Border Cabio. It was such a good dish. It was Cabio on top of mashed potatoes with pico de gallo on top of the fish. Vegetables on the side. The fish was extremely soft anfd went wel with the mashed potatoes. The Pico de gallo made the dish taste so rich. You can sit there distinctively taste the mashed potatoe, fish and pico de gallo in one bite. It does have a bit of a kick to it, its a bit spicy but enough for anyone to like it.

We wanted to order desert but could not fit anything else in our stomach. All in all the experience was a "great catch!"

I think I might have eaten here everyday while I was on my work vacation in Clearwater. I heard about this place through Linda, a coworker who used to be the owner of Keegan's (the place is named after her son). She recommended the blackened grouper sandwich with cheese and I haven't looked back since. Their blackening is their own special recipe and it is so good! Not only was Keegan's grouper sandwich the best I've had the entire trip, their key lime pie was also the best I've had anywhere! This is definitely a locals hotspot, but it has also been reviewed by Guy Fieri, check out the link:

    http://www.flavortownu...

While you're here, also try some of their Datil pepper hotsauce. I bought a bottle of this and I can and do put it on everything! Definitely recommend the blackened grouper sandwich and anything else here that they can blacken cuz that shizz is da bomb!

Guy Fieri got this one right. The fish sandwiches are money.

I don't always agree with Guy Fieri's selections on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, but this time, he's found a real winner.

My husband and I are new to the area and eager to find a casual local place that serves up fresh and flavorful food. We've found it.

The place is located within a small humble strip mall along busy Gulf Blvd. There's a chalk board menu outside just off the parking lot displaying that day's specials. We sat ourselves in a booth that reminded me more of a fast food booth that that of a bonafide restaurant. My eyes were immediately drawn to the red and white sangria options. We ordered a pitcher of the white (to be different plus "white" goes with fish, right? LOL) The pitcher was stuffed with fresh fruit and wonderful fruity concoctions. Wasn't sure the two of us could finish an entire pitcher of sangria, but the task was effortless; wish we'd had more.

I ordered the fried grouper sandwich and it was great. My husband had the Parmesan crusted mahi mahi sandwich and it might have been even better. By far, these were the two best fish sandwiches we've eating in FL thus far.

Food was good, 3 stars, however, the service was horrible, thus the 2 star rating. Took forever for them to take our drink orders. Both my wife and I ordered the she-crab soup, our meal came out before the soup did... The waiter forgot to put it in. Had he checked on us, he might have noticed that we hadn't received our soup and that we needed a refill on our drinks. Tried to get his attention but couldn't.  The table next to us experienced the same thing.

I had the blackened grouper sandwich which was average.  The she-crab soup was good, but very thick... I've had better.  The key lime pie was very tasty.

    I would not go back.

Started out with the she crab soup since there were so many reviews on it...AMAZING!!  We also were down for stone crab season and I would strongly recommend getting them. Large juicy pre-cracked legs for a great price. Talked to owner to tell him how good our dinner was and was happy to hear the majority of his sauces are homemade. His pico de gallo and cilantro cream sauce on the cobia is soo delicious that if you put it on my fingers I wouldn't be able to post this

we'd heard about it from Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" and everything they said was true.
We all three had a different "special" ... the swordfish, the snapper, and the wahoo....all 3 uniquie, all 3 flavorful....

    ...and this was after 9p!

very adequate, easy-going, friendly service. he understood we didn't want to be rushed. everyone was obviously enjoying the "chill" nature of the place.

VERY glad we "stumbled" onto this place. i feel like we ran across something truly excellent.

what a great place to go to have a fresh seafood lunch right off the beach!  Famous for being featured in Drive-Ins, Diners and Dives on the Food Network, this cute and casual restaurant has a real hometown, beachy feel.  Service is friendly, slow, but friendly.  I think the slowness is just Florida style really and I'm a New Yorker so I'm always in a rush.  Not here though..you must sit and enjoy and come prepared to have a leisurely lunch.  That's exactly what my family and I did here.  There was a group of us and we had a toddler but it was no problem getting seating even though it was busy.

I decided to go for the gulf oysters for an appetizer and the mahi mahi sandwich with cole slaw as my main.  Everything was FANTASTIC and fresh!  Flavor was on point and the prices were amazingly low.  I had so much fun here that we ended up just chatting away for over 2 hours and were not rushed out at all.  It was a comfortable setting and the good eats made it even better.

I highly recommend coming to Keegan's for lunch if you are in town. You will not be disappointed.  It's really not that touristy at all.  It's comfy, laid back and just plain yummy.  I hope to return to try some of their other specialties like gator tail.  Now that sounds interesting!  Come eat and be merry at this cute little spot.   I know I will be back!

I saw Keegan's Seafood Grille featured on Diners, Drive-ins, & Dives a few years ago and knew I had to stop in while in the Tampa area for the weekend. I had spent the afternoon at the awesome public beach right across the street, so I walked into the restaurant still in my bathing suit, flip flops, and cover-up dress and no one batted an eye, which in my book makes for the start of a GREAT beachside eating experience.

I of course had to try their she-crab soup, as it is mentioned on EVERY review I read prior to my visit. I can see why; it was amazing. Creamy, with shredded crab meat throughout and chunks of claw meat as well, I couldn't help but order a second bowl to go so that I could enjoy it back at my hotel later that night (I was actually so full that evening that I ended up eating it for breakfast this morning. Shhhhh....don't tell anyone!!).

Next I tried the Oysters Rockefeller. I had never had oysters before, so I was really looking forward to this. I LOVE shellfish of any kind, so I hoped to love these too, and I was not disappointed. The oyster meat itself was succulent and delicious, and the spinach and cheese on top was also tasty without overpowering the oyster.

For my actual entree I got the soft shell crab sandwich. Softshell crab was also new to me, and so I couldn't wait to try that, either. The entire crab was fried and served on an onion roll with lettuce, lemon, and a mustard spread. SO GOOD. I was absolutely not disappointed.

Everything I tried was great, and the prices are easily affordable. I would go back in a heartbeat, and everyone seated around me seemed pleased with their food and the service.

I went to Keegan's on my last night in Tampa Bay/St Petersburg. It was well worth the 20 minute drive from the hotel.
Keegan's is a small place..very much a diner in feel.
I was seated right away and had my drink within a couple minutes of sitting down. I had the crab artichoke dip as my appetizer and it was very very good. I wasn't in the mood for a full entree so I ordered the blackened mahi mahi sandwich. It was excellent. The fish was cooked perfectly and the blackening was just right.
Living in Fort Worth, TX, I don't really have the opportunity to have very fresh seafood - not since Waterstreet & Fishmongers each closed their doors many years back. Keegan's has done a lot to satisfy my craving for very affordable fresh fish and, trust me, next time I find myself in the neighborhood, I will be back to Keegan's.

As a regular traveler to this area over the last 20 years, I've sampled a few seafood places. My family once visited Keegans many years ago, when it was simply a small nothing-special type seafood joint. .

We went last night for the first time in years, and I can definitely say this place is awesome. My mother had the nightly special South of the Border Cobia with cumin mashed potatoes, which she definitely enjoyed. Its so nice to be offered seafood other than the typical clams, shrimp, and grouper so many other places get.

And for being so busy, the service is nice. It can be a bit noisy at times, since its so small. But the quality of food you get more than makes up for it. Definitely coming back next year.

Love this place! We live in Chicago but have a condo on st. Pete beach, and every time were down here, we do the drive up to keegans. Any fish on their specials menu is always so good. I had the swordfish with citrus salsa on top. HUGE piece of fresh fish, for a good price. Raw oysters were good too, as well as a ton of other things on the menu.
Never had to wait for a table. Servers are always great. Cant wait to get back!

So, had eaten here in the past and enjoyed it, but not so this past trip.  Was hungry and needed some good eats, stopped in with my Cousin.  Ordered Conch Fritters, which were decent, and he ordered the Scallop Ceviche, and I ordered the other Ceviche so we could share.

Have never had Ceviche this bad in my life.  The Scallop Ceviche was done in a Chimichurri Sauce, and the Scallops were MUSHY - Yuck!  It was like they had either forgotten to add Citrus to cook the fish, or it was old.  The second Ceviche was more like Cole Slaw with a bit of fish thrown in.

I know people speak well of this place, so maybe it was an off night, but f you go, opt for the cooked food!

Keegan's ended up being my favorite seafood restaurant in the Tampa Bay area. I'm not necessarily saying that they have the best seafood but the combination of the prices, quality, and service all combined to a fantastic spot. From the genuinely welcoming host who sat me to the local fisherman who waited on me, the service was very friendly. The prices are great although some of the items can be really pricey but it's just the market not Keegan's who really control the prices sometimes (like the $25 large stone crab plate that gets you 3 stone crab claws and no sides). Stone crabs in case you've never had them are 100% sustainable because a single claw is removed from the crab and the crab is returned to the sea where it grows the claw back, the claw meat is incredibly tender and sweet and needs no butter or flavoring whatsoever. It's similar to a lobster claw in taste (small in size) but slightly better in my opinion. Their blackened grouper here ($17) is done very well and I love that when you get corn on the cob it's a while cob freshly boiled and is cooked just right. Their key lime pie ($5) isn't exactly traditional as it's more mouse like than the more dense pudding like pie most places have but it was amazing and had a great balance of tartness and sweetness to it. I vowed to try more seafood places than I did but I enjoyed my experience at Keegan's enough that I just kept coming back if I didn't want to decide where else to try.

We've been coming to Keegan's since I was in high school. When we recently drove cross-country from Seattle, one of our goals was to get stone crab claws at Keegan's.

The thing about Keegan's is that if you order the right stuff, you will have a spectacularly delicious meal for a reasonable price. Stone crab is always a winner. We ordered four pounds of cold claws, and ate every bite -- they don't get any sweeter or more delicious than this. Unlike touristy places, these guys never, ever serve inferior crab or fish -- especially not stone crab.

Our companions ordered the peel-and-eat shrimp and the grouper bites -- also delicious, for fried fish. You're always best off ordering your seafood here as plain as possible. Boiled, grilled, steamed, etc. Fresh, delicious fish and shellfish are the stars. They also have good fries, salads, and burgers, and the service is always friendly. We never order the dinner entrees. This place is not about fine cooking. It's about fine seafood and a great, friendly atmosphere. Keep that in mind, and you will go away happy.

I didn't see what the fuss was about; from the raves I thought it would be more than an ambitious strip mall hole-in-the-wall. The chef that we saw on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food Network and YouTube does strut his stuff with some seafood oddities (though they were out of the signature grilled octopus last night--not surprising, given that it's the middle of high season). The rest of the menu is really good standard Tampa Bay seafood. Next time I would try the gumbo instead of the more-liquid-than-crab she crab soup. The blackened grouper was perfect, as were the two fried grouper selections. The sesame crusted ahi tuna was right on the mark, as well. Side orders and the kids menu were unremarkable.

In short, it's better than everything in the neighborhood, but not worth driving an hour to try.

We first visited Keegan's back in 2008, just after Guy Fieri featured the restaurant on D, D & D.  We went in with high expectations as a result...and were disappointed.  While the service was fine, the dining area was cramped, and most importantly, the food was mediocre on that visit.  My wife (a food snob of sorts) proclaimed that she would never set foot in the place again.

    Never say never...

We just returned yesterday and had a wonderful experience.  While the dining area is still cramped (the outdoor seating is almost useless under the beating sun), the food was 100 times better.  The shrimp po' boy had plenty of shrimp, and I would recommend trying it with their spicy ailoi instead of the standard cocktail sauce.  The she-crab soup was tremendous - creamy, rich and a great crab flavor.

I figured the place was worth a second visit, and I was right.

The she-crab soup was awesome.  Very rich and creamy, with a deep crab flavor.

The grilled grouper sandwich was okay.  The fish could have been prepared better, with more spice and taste overall.

Was really excited about the conch ceviche but it was nothing great.  Had a citrus taste but nothing else really.  Needed salt and some other ingredients to make it better.  Was mixed with tomatoes and not much else I could taste.  It was served with what looked like two broken halves of a taco shell.  Pretty disappointing.

I was very disappointed...  I don't know why or how it got on Diners, Drive-ins and Diners?!  I don't understand how the majority of reviews are 5 stars!  I thought this was very overrated and expecting much more...  I had the she soup everybody raves about...  I really can't compare it to any other crab soup, being this is my first time to trying it but it tasted like broccoli cheese soup...  Is it suppose to be thick or liquidy, dunno... it was creamy but like watered down tasting (you know how spices loses their taste when watered down).  We had grouper bites, nice size servings and I believe it was the best we had of everything but still grayish look inside made me think it was frozen and a "little" fishy, anybody  that knows about FRESH fish, FRESH fish is NOT FISHY at all!  My son had the gator bites and they were about just a quarter to nickel size on a stick, blackened, he said it was chewy and did not like blackened spice, as so did my husband who had he blackened sandwich.  I tasted them all myself and per say do NOT like blackened spice because it tends to overwhelm the taste and that's what seemed to be happening here too but still did not find the fish or gator extraordinary...  I had to try the Sangria, which I usually NEVER order but because of the Awesome reviews, went for it too and it was served in a pitcher with fruit but what seemed to be CINNAMON as an added spice was very distinct (too MUch) causing residue on our glasses, I really prefer the YAGO Sangria from Sams much better tasting or have you ever tried Sangria from Carrabas?!  I did like their chocolate dessert but geeeez thought with so much hype this place's food would be "outstanding" and it wasn't, I've experienced better...   Service was good, not a long wait at all but Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, I hope this was not just a publicity stunt!  I'm hoping  they're more honest with all their other reviews on TV and not give publicity to places, that really don't deserve it...  I mean this  place, was nothing to rave about!  Hooters fish sandwich is a BOMB compared to this place's! And don't understand how everybody is also raving about this place?  =(    We did take advantage of  the post that mentioned there's a beach access right across the street and enjoyed that much more!!!!

Pretty good place. More casual / dive-y type location at the beach. Close to home and has always had great fish. Lot's of fresh local fish that from a fisherman's point of view is important. More importantly is I believe the fish is what they call it. Hint to other local places. It's not about the atmosphere, it's all about the food. Pretty much hard, mainly uncomfortable seating (indoors) but it's all ok. Can get hot outside late afternoons.
Specials typically are covered in sauce's or chutneys. But still great fish and sauces. I personally just prefer the fish with the extra's on the side. Reason I mention all the add ons they do. Wether you like it like I do or with all the extra's the meals we had were fantastic. I had swordfish and my girlfriend had Cobia. Both dishes were very good and the fish was fresh. Very friendly, fast service and the price is AWESOME for what you get. If you are visiting from out of town don't go to far from the beach. This is a great place for great food also with awesome sunsets across the street if you time it right.

A fairly decent seafood place that we would not have found out about if it weren't for Yelp.  It came highly regarded by the locals, and even Guy Fieri of Food Network fame brought his show here for a segment.  These were all promising hallmarks.

The place itself looks kind of sleepy from the outside, reminiscent of a no-name strip mall eatery.  Inside though, it is a bit more animated.  Our server was really friendly and gave us plenty of time to order, eat, and idle about making for a lazy afternoon.  We really felt comfortable here, so we just took it easy.

The menu had a number of great seafood choices.  I settled on starting with the Key West conch fritters ($6.95) and having the grilled (fresh) grouper sandwich ($10.95) for my main.  The conch fritters were great!  They resembled oversized hushpuppies and had a similar consistency.  I enjoyed that they were a touch spicy too.  This made for a very pleasing beginning.  My sandwich was great too!  You can really tell the difference when you are served fresh seafood -- it just makes the whole dish sing.  Now I chose to order my sandwich with just the fish, no toppings.  As a result, I got to taste the fish cleanly, and it had a lot of flavor.  My girlfriend's mother, had all of the suggested toppings and felt that the flavor was lost in the mix.  I suppose this is something to be aware of when ordering.  I accompanied everything with a couple of refills of their sweet tea which was done rather nicely, not too saccharine.  All in a great meal for me.  Be aware though that the ceviche is dead on arrival and probably should be avoided all together.  It is a very discordant note in an otherwise harmonious experience.  Recommend, but be careful about how you order.

    IGNORE THE COUPLE BAD REVIEWS!!!!!
Very surprised at the recent low reviews. Can't pick out 1 thing to rave about because Everything I order here is always perfect. Believe me it's worth it for good food. Not ambiance, GOOD FOOD. Only possible drawback is it's just beer and wine......

    Yum-O!

I ended up making a day trip out to the St. Pete area and wanted to try this place.  My friend had been here the week before and pointed out that it was featured in Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Guy liked it. My friend liked it. Let's try it!

I had the She Crab soup and it was delicious!  Yum!!! And I had the Parmesan crusted mahi-mahi sandwich.  Also yum. My daughter had the best looking snow crab I have ever seen and she said it was the very best crab she had ever eaten.

I would definitely go back and try many other things on the menu.  Others at our table had the oysters and while they were small they were good. They also raved about the shrimp they had and just how fresh and large they were.

The restaurant is very casual and in a strip-mall across from the beach but this is a don't miss if you're ever in the Clearwater- St. Pete area!

So good we came here twice!  I can see why Guy Fieri featured them on "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives."  No one in our group had a bad meal on either visit, be it the grouper reuben (lunch special), crab salad pita, raw and steamed oysters, crab cakes, blackened grouper, she-crab soup or gumbo.  I am probably forgetting a thing or two on that list, but you get the point.  The real highlights were the grouper reuben, she-crab soup and gumbo.

With something for everyone, this is a great family restaurant.   The bar is decorated with coloring book pages, there are fish tanks decorating the walls, and the beer and wine selection is above par.   Like I said, fun for the whole family.

    Awww yeah....

You -must- visit this restaurant.  This is a down home joint with excellent food, great service and a varied menu that offers reasonable prices.

We came in fairly early on Saturday and was surprised at the "fancy" sounding entrees featured on the chalkboard.  Surprised because the restaurant is a no frills joint and the menu itself is basic.  However, the chalkboard is somewhat "gourmet" and features many fresh fish options done in a variety of ways.

After ordered a dozen steamed clams, half a dozen raw oysters, the conch ceviche and a lobster roll, I quickly realized that the food stands and speaks for itself.  They don't need a fancy joint.

Steamed clams--no much to say here other than they were very good.

Oysters--OMG these babies were very big.  Much bigger than I expected, that's for sure.  Came with lemons and cocktail sauce.  I added a little of the Chipotle Tabasco and was pretty much in heaven.

Lobster roll--very tasty, indeed.  Noticed there was some garlic mixed in there and that was a little different, but it worked quite well.  Its also a different type of lobster, so there is a little more texture to the meat.  Still, it was pretty darn good.

Conch ceviche--very nice combination of diced tomatoes, diced escabeche, seasonings and conch.  Lots o' conch.  Served over a big lettuce leaf.

    Very enjoyable place--highly recommend.

Wanted to go because I saw this place on "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" and we were in the area-it was for yum.

For app we had shrimp Leones. 6 massive, huge, JUMB-fuckin-O battered and deep fried shrimp in a spicy, creamy sauce-lovely-wanted about a dozen or so more.

Hubs had The Gumbo Shop (named after a famous restaurant in New Orleans). A nicely spicy, smoky, flavor-packed huge bowl of gumbo. Very close to what I've had in New Orleans.

I had the blackened grouper sandwich. Also nicely spicy (my new fave term, ok?), very fresh, tender and juicy. It was served with deep fried potatoes ("home fries," right?) and all I could think when I was finished was "I want more grouper!!"

Very divey, yet clean, and they had a couple of fish tanks in the dining room-oooooh, the irony. Low key servers were efficient and gracious.

If you like fresh seafood with a nice spice, you'd enjoy it here-we certainly did.

The food is outstanding and plentyful.  We have ventured into a number of local restaurants and this is one of our favorites.  The Atmosphere is very casual but the food is what you might find at a much more expensive restaurant.  If your in the area you should go here for at least one meal.

Also, they were featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, check it out on http://Flavortownusa.com.

Hands down 5 stars!!!  The reason is they are really good for everything we tried.  The portion is tiny for the price but the quality of the food and seasoning is great!

    We ordered
Scallop ceviche - came 7 hugh raw scallopes in a martini glass, tasted sweet and fresh.
Conch ceviche - it was nicely seasoned with citrics, very refreshing.
Softshell crab - really just lightly dust with flour and fried to juicy PERFECTION.  Juicy inside and crunchy outside.  YUMMY.
grill gator bites - blackened, juicy gator that taste better than chicken.  GREAT seasoning!!!
Grill octopus - tender and simply yummy!
Ohhhh the oyster stew was the BOOOMb!  Juicy oysters that's just cooked, sweet oysters in creamy spicy brooth...my mouth is watering right now just thinking about it.

I have NEVER been to a restaurant that I like every dish.  Sandy, our waitress was super nice too.  It was a great experience!

Excellent seafood at an excellent price!  Just keep in mind - this is a diner-type restaurant.  This is not a fine dining establishment.  If you are concerned more with substance than style, than you are in for  a treat.  Let's do a quick rundown:

Cracked Conch (appetizer) - delicious.  Like calimari, only a bit more tender.  Comes with a wonderful citrus dipping sauce.
Oysters on the half shell - only disappointing part of the meal.  Given the troubles with the gulf recently, I should've known better.
She Crab soup - Wow - velvety, buttery, and delicious.  Actually a bit too buttery/oily, but just an excellent crab taste and great richness.
Shrimp Leones - Very good fried shrimp.  Nothing crazy.
    Softshell Crab sandwich - Excellent.
Key Lime Pie - A great end to a great meal, excellent lime flavor, great crust.

On top of the food, the service was on top of things.  Definitely has the feel of a mom & pop joint, which I liked...it seemed like they truly cared if we were enjoying the food or not.  I would recommend this regardless, but given what I saw as a lack of good dining options in the Clearwater area, I strongly recommend this place.

"Where locals eat seafood" sums it up!  If you're a seafood lover, this is a must visit, no BS.

Sadly as a FL cracker I never knew about Keegan's until I moved away and saw it featured on Food Network's "Diner, Drive-Ins and Dives" and totally dug the owner's mad scientist character.   Do yourself a favor, google the episode and you'll see why.

Hands down the #1 reason to go is the blackened grouper sandwich!  I consider myself a connoisseur and as northern yankee now, have palpable cravings for this local delicacy that must be fulfilled every time I return for a visit.  If I'm not getting my fix within 48hrs of being back on my home turf, you know something has gone array.

I wish I could comment on the other entrees but I honestly can't.  Only other thing I highly recommend is the amberjack fish spread as the appetizer, another local fav.

Keegan's gets my second ever 5 star review!
