Writing from an out of towner's point of view. Don't have too many good BBQ places in So. Cal. I really liked KC's and would definitely come back next time I am around. I went to another chain BBQ place while in the Atlanta area, and found the value, quality to be way better at KC's.

I am what some may call a "riboligist"--- no seriously, I am. I decided to check out KC Pit BBQ after watching an Atlanta based show that highlighted the "Best BBQ In Atlanta". If you know ribs, you know that any good rib spot barely passes health code inspection. However, KC Pit BBQ is an exception to the rule. Filled with glossy wooden benches/booths/hightops and a quaint bar, KC Pit BBQ is actually one of the nicest bbq spots that I have ever been to. Along with that, the quality of the ribs is second to none, and it seems like they have a different cut/quality standard than most rib joints. Hard to explain, but kinda like the difference between having a rib eye from Publix and having a ribeye from Omaha Steaks...feel me? Anyways, along with great quality, the meat is seasoned well and brushed lightly with bbq sauce, unless you ask for it on the side. As much as I like good sauce, KC Pit doesnt even need it. They do, however, offer a sweet and spicy sauce to compliment your ribs. I typically forget about it once that mountain of bones is sitting in front of me. The sides leave a bit to be desired for....damn it, just focus on these ribs and you will be just fine. I like going on Thursdays and Sundays. Thursday they offer all you can eat ribs for $10 and Sunday you get $5 dollars off slabs if you eat in house. Additionally on some nights they have a live jazz band that is actually off the hook...
Lastly, if your not really a pork eater, dont hesitate to jump on those wings, they are off the hook and have a nice smoky flavor..
This is definitely among the top 2 rib spots in the A....
Trust me, I am a riboligist

Rhythm, blues and bbq. A match made in heaven. I've tried all kinds of barbeque and while I'm a truly southern girl who loves her jo-ja style bbq I really liked my ribs Kansas city style. It's nice to know you can wear a pair of blue jeans, listen to some great music and stuff yourself on some down home barbeque. Check their website to see what specials they've got going on then take full advantage!

Their bbq ribs are good! They are meaty and not too fatty or dry. Their spicy bbq sauce is also very good. Chopped pork has been so-so. Sometimes it's really good, and other times they've been on the dry side. I'm not sure why. The atmosphere is fun.

I LOVE THESE RIBS! I went there on a Thursday night, they had a great band playing AND it happened to be ALL YOU CAN EAT RIB NIGHT!!! Yikes! My son and I tried to to do our best to eat all we could, but after the first plate we were already full. I love the sweet sauce. This is the first place I like to take people that are visiting me from out of town.

Sounds like the ribs are good from the other reviewers. The BBQ is AWFUL!!!!!! Chopped full of burnt ends and fat pieces. Could not even eat 1/5 of it. Yuck!!!!!! Waste of money!

I went here about a almost two years ago on what turned out to be a great date. We stopped by on a Saturday night and I was happy to feel the rhythm and groove of the jazz band playing.
The restaurant's atmosphere was nice & at the same time really surprising. It has more than one feel & flexes them all in a simple, funky & upbeat manner. You can bring the kids, the family, your friends or a worthy date (lol).
The food is great!! I had the combo platter with BBQ ribs & chicken, with string beans, macaroni & cornbread. The portions were so good that after the meal I still had left overs for like a whole day. They have a full bar (which for the setup was kinda surprising). But I enjoyed it soooo much, the food, the company & the jazz... (now that's a combo meal).
I had to meet one of the owners at that point so I could find out where they were from and compliment them. Bottom line, go check this place out and go on a weekend when their playing jazz & take your coolest peoples!

The ribs are absolutely wonderful. You can order a half or full slab, with one or two sides. When you get the ribs, you also get a sweet as well as spicy BBQ (both of which adds to the taste of the ribs). The meat is juicy and very tender - you can almost peel it from the ribs with very little effort.
A big recommend (although I'd advise skipping the sausage - seems the wrapper is rather difficult to chew. :/ ).

yummy yummy!!! went on a Saturday night they had a live band playing.. although i waited over an hr for food it was worth it!! (word to the wise... Saturday nights are packed!) probably best to go for lunch or an early dinner.. the mac and cheese was great!!!! long with the ribs- which hardly had any fat on them.. along with the Burnt Ends-You'll have to try this if you like your meat a lil crispy on the outside but nice and tender on the inside!!! would definitely recommend!
