My coworker introduced me to this place.  I'm glad he did because I never would've noticed it was there!  Whenever I get the bento box, there will not be a speck of food on it after I'm done.  It is the perfect amount of food.  I haven't had the sushi here because I haven't been able to get past what a great deal the bento boxes are.  If you can make sushi, or knows someone who does, they sell blocks of fish for a good price.  Take Advantage!

Absolutely love the Kazoku chicken Bento box plus my kids love to eat here so we are definitely regulars. The gracious owners are friendly and offer a nice variety to match whatever you might be craving. Stop in, you'll be glad you did.

"Tucked away in one of Roseville's endless strip malls...."

I feel like starting off every one of my reviews with those words. In this case, it really is true. Kazoku Teriyaki and More is not only tucked away, it's almost buried in the back corner of the shopping center at the northeast corner of Junction and Foothills Blvd.

Let's get a few things straight: this place does not assume to be a sushi restaurant. It does not assume to be Matsumoto Shave Ice on Oahu's North Shore. It does not assume to carry every Hawaiian plate lunch entree you can think of. It's not particularly glitzy, you won't find all the cool kids eating here, and there are no would-be sushi master behind the counter.

What this IS, is a wonderful little family-owned joint that has probably been around since before the likes of L&L became oh-so cool (and subsequently cliched) stateside. It's that place that reminds you of the little shave ice shop you ran down the hill to after school when you were a kid, in search of relief from the triple-digit heat. Or your grandmother's (grandmother-in-law's in my case) house, where she made the teriyaki chicken tender and "just right" -- with sauce cooked from scratch.

It's Japanese, it's Hawaiian, but in a way that just seems more genuinely so than the teeny-bopper drones at L&L overzealously shouting "aloha" at your arrival. The sparse wall menu belies the extense of entrees that can be prepared here; indeed, order from the printed menus instead. The types of sushi are limited to the more basic rolls and fish (don't go looking for katsuo or toro), but in terms of pure numbers of items, the selection is good enough that you'll find something you'll like. The sushi rice prepared here shows a sensitivity to its creation that is sadly lacking even in supposed "real" sushi restaurants. The entrees are simply but flavorfully prepared, evoking thoughts of home cooked meals -- whatever your ethnicity.

For all of Roseville's multitudes of dining choices, it's this unassuming little establishment that gets me excited when I'm thinking about grabbing a quick bite to eat. The city needs more places like this, and less of the faux-chic eateries that have defined its growth over the past few years.

Five stars, and an extra one if I could because they carry furikake, which I could not find at ANY of the local supermarkets.

This is one of the few Japanese restaurants I consistently go to. Kazoku means family in Japanese, and they stress that here. The owner is Japanese Hawaiian and is very nice. Her husband also works as the chef, and my mom's friend works as the sushi chef here on certain nights.

I've been a customer since 2003 and I have basically never had a bad meal. I love the flavor of the sushi rice, their tuna is awesome, and their tempura udon is excellent. There is also real Hawaiian style kakigori (shaved ice) with mochi or red beans inside. MMMMMM.

The "fast Japanese food" is a bit of a misnomer because you do have to wait sometimes, but in the end it is all worth it.

I used to go to Mikuni's on Eureka, but I was continuously disappointed with them and decided to stick with Kazoku.

My favorite is their spicy tuna roll. Lots of spice and rice. They will also make you any roll that you want. Try the bento (box lunch). You won't be disappointed.

This is one of my family's favorite restaurants.  We go there about once a week.  It is in a nondescript shopping mall next to a nail salon and Pete's Pizza (which will be the subject of a review to follow).  It is family run, with the owner and her husband.  It is unpretentious, but as the other reviewers know, the food is good.  Sometimes, the wait can be a little long if they hit a busy period.  Most of their business is take out.

The kid loves the chicken katsu (breaded, deep-fired chicken strips) and has ordered it so often, the staff knows how she likes it.  I like the sushi specials, but forget the ones with cream cheese.  The sashimi has always been fresh (no fishy smell) and firm.  Love the sashimi bento box with three to four slices of salmon, maguro and hamachi with a California roll.

It's only four stars because I am so hard to please when it comes to food.
