Horrible experience here. I'm reluctant to give one star as I don't want to punish a great place if we just had an off night or a server having a lousy day.
The food was decent, however the service left me and my group of friends anxious to leave almost as soon as we arrived. We were reluctantly seated, waited ages to have our order taken, were told we were minutes too late to order dinner entrees, then our meal came without the meals we ordered to make up for that fact.
My friends liked their pizza, my meal was okay, the wings must have had an off night because they were average at best, and I've read such glowing reviews about them that I'm jealous I didn't get the same experience.
Pros: The food they do well seems to be done very well.
Cons: Service was awful. -

I just went to Albany for a visit. Luckily, the people I stayed with took me straight to Kay's for pizza and hot wings.
First off, their ranch dressing is so yummy. I don't know where they get it from or if they make it in bulk (safeway style) but it's good. Their chicken wings were absolutely delicious! SO crunchy and oozing with their spicy sauce. Their pizza was also amazing, we got pepperoni and sausage on top. The sausage looked home made and there were big round balls of it, not skimpy little bites.
Overall I had a great experience, it does get very crowded and is only open during the summer season. It also can get very hot so don't wear anything long sleeved or jeans, shorts and a tank top will do just fine :) -

Kay's Pizza has been a local institution for many years since the 1950s and operates out of the old Burden Lake House on Burden Lake. The very popular pizza place is generally open during the spring and summer months. Kay's serves up their famous pizza, Italian dinners, seafood (steamers!!!), salads, sandwiches, munchies, & desserts.
The dining room is packed with booths and tables (with red & white checkered table covers) very close to each other on an old wood floor with a great view of Burden Lake. The other room (lounge) has the bar area with seats, video games, Treasure Chest (skill crane), jukebox, and takeout counter next to the kitchen.
I've enjoyed Kay's Pizza since I was in grade school. I recently took my Dad here for dinner on an early Sunday evening and the place was busy and loud (we sat ourselves in the dining room before the rush). Our waitress promptly came over to our table with menus and we ordered a pitcher of Diet Pepsi ($6.50). For dinner, we ordered the 12-inch (12 cut) Kay's Special Pizza (sausage, mushrooms, & peppers) with onions ($13.20), and Lasagna & sausage with tossed salad & hot bread ($8.50).
The Salad was iceburg lettuce, shredded carrots, cherry tomatoes, & a cup of dressing. The very good Pizza came out hot and loaded with good toppings or a thick doughy crust (crispy on the outside). The Lasagna had three cheeses with 2 sausages on the side and smothered in marinara sauce, pretty good. For dessert, the Brownie Sundae ($3.45 - hot brownie topped with vanilla ice cream, hot chocolate sauce, whipped cream, & cherry served in a soup bowl) was decent.
After many years, Kay's Pizza is still very good, which brings the crowds out here!! -

This is one of the hidden gems of the area, if the constantly jammed parking lot doesn't give it away. Pizza is awesome, portions on other things are huge, pretty reasonable prices, and they actually have regular Coors beer o_O
The place is always busy and the tables are really stuffed in the floor space, so if you want a quiet intimate place look elsewhere. But the staff manage things well, always had good service and the "stuff on the walls" is a fair bit more interesting than what hangs at Applebees.
A real fun place with awesome pizza. Definitely stop in, everyone is surprised by this little hole in the wall house with crooked floors. -

While it's not exactly the most 'pretty' establishment, with its crooked floors and no air conditioning, Kay's is the BEST! We have literally been going here almost my entire life. We count the days until Kay's opens every year and then savor every morsel until it closes for the winter!
It can get extremely busy, especially on weekends so it's best to try and get there early, or order take out. It's also rather loud, so not exactly a romantic evening! But it's a fun place and sooooo worth going! -

If you like: Comfy wear your flip flops, pull up your boat, kind of place on a lake then you will love it here. Best best pizza. We avoid the serpentine line out the door and usually can grab a few seats at the bar.

If you like Pizza Hut, then you will love this home made pan pizza. All of their food is great. It's a little hole in the wall place, and always busy so take out is recommended.

Real good pizza. Its a shame they are only open a few months in the summer, but that makes you want it that much more. I think there has always been a line out the door every time I have come here but it moves quickly. Its loud inside but its a cozy family friendy restaurant where you feel like a local.

West Sand Lake, NY
Great local place with fantastic pizza, steamers, wings and pitchers of beer and plastic tablecloths. Get ready to share your long table with a tough biker dude, or a local yocal or a high powered business man. All people love this place. Situated right on Burden lake, Kay's is a mainstay off Averill Park and known to many not from there. It gets extremely busy and you seat yourself, but even so, after the wait the service is good. Fun place to be. Get the Kay's special pizza (pepperoni, onions and peppers)! Seasonal, so watch for when they open and close.

We lived within walking distance of Kay's for a year and if you like wings and pizza it really does not get any better than this. The atmosphere is electric and it's a local institution. The building is literally falling apart, the floor, walls and ceilings look like they are about to cave in. Eating here is like eating in a time capsule. But don't let that put you off. The pizza is awesome, and the buffalo wings are to die for. Simple and very unhealthy fare, but irresistible and clearly very popular given the crowds that frequent here every night in the summer. Don't expect great service but do expect a unique up-state New York experience.

Every Mothers day this is my mothers choice. This year we decided for take out. This was not a good choice. The cheese was sticking to the top of the box. I guess someone forgot.the pizza tables....there for some of the pizza taste like cardboard. On the other side of the coin the pizza that was not stuck to the top was yummy...I will continue http://to.be one of kays biggest fans.

I am hard pressed to find a place that would deserve a 5 star rating, but this one is the closest so far. Only open during the summer season it is a local favorite. Everyone knows Kay's Pizza. The staff is freindly even though you will be hard pressed to find a time that they are not packed. Great family environment!!!

Classic dive w/ excellent pizza. the floor isn't within 6 inches of level from end to end, crowded, loud, not open during the winter due to the cost to heat the place.

Kay's pizza rocks and rolls. It's doughy and cheesy and saucy, everything pizza should be. The ambiance of the restaurant is best described as eclectic noise. Casual, friendly, warm and inviting -- but not for those who prefer quiet, crowd-free dining. They also do takeout, if you prefer your pizza without a side of din. They have video game machines to entertain restless diners but the wait's not bad -- about the usual amount of time one waits for fresh pizza. And Kay's Pizza is totally worth the wait!
