Review from Joannah L.

Katie Raber's is a little gem. The waiting area is jammed packed with hard-to-find skin-care products and beauty accessories. They've got a cute, little sitting area with comfy chairs and hot tea.
Jasmine is an amazing esthetician. I have seen her for waxing several times, and today I had a facial with her. She has a gift! She gave me the best shoulder and arm massage. I was so relaxed, and my skin feels soft and supple.
I have also seen Kim for waxing. She is great, too. Very fast and thorough.
Joanne gives wonderful massages, also.
All the staff at Katie Raber's are well-informed and provide excellent customer service. They offer many services and are reasonably priced. -

I got a gel mani/pedi here, and while I was very happy with the results, and parts of the experience, my horror at the price and the length of time it took completely overshadowed any warm, happy feelings. Granted, this was probably more my fault than Katie Raber's- but now I'm getting a bit ahead of myself.
I bought the $30 Groupon for a mani/pedi- when I called to setup an appointment, I asked how much it would be to do a gel mani/pedi instead, and was told it was normally $40 for hands and $40 for feet (really, for a mani/pedi!? Oook..) but because I was a Groupon customer, she'd do it for $40 total. I took this to mean an additional $10, since I had already paid $30 for my Groupon and I cannot imagine any sane person pays $80+ tip to get their nails done. This was NOT the case.
I was getting ready to go on vacation, and took the day off from work to run some last minute errands. My mom played hooky to spend the day with me, and I invited her to come along to my appointment. I called to see if they could squeeze her in too, and they told me she could, but that there was only 1 spa pedicure chair, so we'd have to take turns. No problem, I thought.
Our appointment was at 2:30, and we left around 8PM. Yes, over 5 hours for each of us to get a manicure and pedicure. There goes my day off and all the errands I needed to run. When I went to pay, it turned out to be an ADDITIONAL $40 on top of the $30 I already spent, plus tip (she spent 5 hours, and did a good job, regardless of my other issues) &, as a result of the misunderstanding, I had misinformed my poor mother as well, who thought she was getting a $40 mani/pedi. We left, 5 hours later, and $180 in the hole. Not happy campers!
All in all, as unhappy as I am, I can't completely blame Katie Raber. For what it's worth, the manicurist was incredibly pleasant, very friendly, and did a great job. However, it is beyond my realm of possibilities to think a manicure & pedicure would cost anything upwards of $40 and take anywhere upwards of 1 hour. I should have asked more questions about the price, and should have asked how long it would take.
Lesson learned the hard way. -

1st time actually writing instead of just selfishly reading. Fastest brazilian I've ever had- and after getting home & seeing the results i know why. McKenna was nice enough but didn't exactly put me at ease. The wax was WAY too hot!!! She even asked bf I said anything, apologized, then continued to use it! I guess the extra 5 second twirl in the air was supposed to cool it down?! And I've never had that "hard wax" and I really don't like it. The other reviews about no gloves and being sticky after are true, not to mention she double dipped! I am def glad I only paid a Groupon price and you can bet I won't be back!

Review from Janae T.

I went here months ago for a wax/deal I bought off of living social. I have had brazilian waxes by numerous different people in numerous cities and different countries. It was literally THE WORST experience I have ever had in any beauty treatment in my entire life. It began normal, with regular hot wax and was working fine. Then she decided to switch to cold wax mid process, which resulted in no waxing whatsoever - only a sticky substance that was super glued to my private region and me in torturous pain and tears (and I don't cry EVER). I had to leave mid appt (because she was frantic and flustered and could not figure how to get it off) with weird wax stuck to me (and once I put my pants on was then super glued to my underwear as well). It took me two hours with baby oil in a hot bath and lots of tears and pain to get it removed. And it was my birthday.
Worst part is after emails and phone calls asking for my money back I got not ONE response. Zero. Zip.
Needless to say I wouldn't pay my worst enemy a million dollars to go there and get any kind of treatment. -

Review from Bethie L.
Chino Hills, CA
For some reason, I don't know why-- could be circumstance or mood? But this was the longest, painful brazilian wax I have ever had so far...
The little salon is really cute though...and McKenna is very nice and accomodating. Might be a little TMI, but all I can say for her to improve is to give the person a moment to collect herself after each painful rip and to constantly ask if the person is okay and needs a break for a moment. LOL. -

I got a mani pedi here from a groupon special. There are positives and negatives to this experience.
-positives: amazzzing foot and leg massage
-great attention to detail
-wonderful treatment, you feel like a princess
negatives: she was unprofessional and racist and spoke about particular ethnicities as lower than others because of certain ways that "they all" act so that was the only awkward/downside to this service
Basically, the service was fantastic. I just wish she would have not talked about her personal life and views because that was so uncomfortable. -

McKenna is amazing. It was the best facial I've ever gotten! I think I almost fell asleep at one point. You can't see the place from the street and it's kind of hidden, but it feels like home inside unlike some of those bigger spa places. I HIGHLY recommend this place and McKenna for your facial!

I don't know about their other services, but I have never had such a painul bikini wax! Not sure what it was- maybe the type of wax they use, but OUCH! Then to top it off I was all sticky down there--after I left my cheeks were like sticking together and my undies were sticking too......
The place is cute and the ladies were kind but if you're just looking for a quick painless wax I would say keep looking.
After they "schmoozed" me and were overly nice I was handed a reciept with a price much higher than I have ever paid for a wax and a request that I go online and give them a review.....um, tacky? Here's your review. -

I love Katie Raber's Face and Body Esthetiques. I was introduced to Kim through my sister. She does an amazing job. I go to her for my Brazilian and facials. They have great products. Unfortunately, I moved to the Midwest and miss them dearly. I am sooo glad they have an online store. I can get my favorite products that's not sold out here. Phew!!!! Definitely recommend this place....Ask for Kim!!!
