My boyfriend went for dinner and loved it. The left overs he brought me were fantastic! We went for the buffet and it was good. I'm not a huge fan of buffets, though, since I'm vegetarian and am not familiar enough with Indian food to be able to tell what has meat in it or not. It is definitely good food and decent service.

Decided to order delivery from here based on the good Yelp reviews and very convenient online ordering option. We ordered veg tandoori, the house special, khasi ko masu, which was described as containing "boneless" goat meat, veg samosa, and naan. It was rather expensive at $33 (before tip) but the ordering process was seamless and all seemed well until the food arrived.
Fast forward 30 minutes: food arrives, delivery guy leaves, we realized right away that they forgot the samosas. We weren't going to bother calling, but realized there might not be enough food so called to request the missing samosa. The lady on the phone took my name, asked what was missing, and said it would be delivered. No problem.
While we're starting to eat and waiting for our samosa we look at the take out menu they put in the delivery bag and see the price of the samosa listed as $2.95.... Apparently we overpaid online where we were charged $4.95.
I was truly enjoying the flavors in my veg tandoori until I uncovered a gray and black hair. I'm 28 and so is my boyfriend- no gray hairs here. Gross. I obviously was not about to finish this food. My boyfriend's house special "boneless" goat meat entree also turned out to be the very opposite- containing far more bone than meat- a laborious task to eat and little return for a $14. He definitely would not have ordered it if he knew it was boneless. Pretty disappointing again.
It has been 15-20 minutes and we are basically done eating at this point when my phone rings. It's Kathmandu and they want to know if something was missing from my order ..... -

This is one of my go-to places for good Indian, especially for take out or their lunch buffet. Always fresh and flavorful, and the staff seem nice and attentive (although I've never gone during regular dinner service).
The only thing to be careful of is that it's on the ground floor, and if you have a stroller or someone in a wheelchair, this can be difficult to navigate--luckily though, on my second visit, I discovered the elevator right there in front of me (I went with my sister and niece).
Also, this place is very budget-friendly (for a buffet). -

Reading the other reviews makes me wonder if I went to the same restaurant. The food was possibly the worst I've ever eaten. We had lentils and a tandoori grill platter. The lentils had no salt and no readily detectable taste..the tandoori platter dry and tasteless as well. We were starving but honestly, we left wishing we hadn't eaten.
The service was decent and the wait staff attentive. But I am used to good Indian food and this wasn't even close. Maybe the Nepali food is more flavorful and I will defer to someone else's opinion on that. But the Indian offerings need some serious advice and re-working, and since this is a nice location, Kathmandu Kitchen should look into upping their game if they want to successfully serve the discriminating Towson population. -

If I have a hankering for Indian flavors, I like to tuck in for lunch at Kathmandu Kitchen. They have a great lunch buffet. It's fresh and tasty with a good assortment of dishes. They have veggie curries, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka masala, lamb saag plus green salad. You can get all the main dishes, naan bread, condiments and dessert (gulab jamon and rice pudding). The naan is fantastic here. If they run out of naan on the buffet, just ask one of the servers for more.
The dining area is bright with the full size windows and white cloth topped tables. The restaurant is set back and down the steps along Allegheny Avenue, so it may require some looking. Parking can be kinda tough since it is downtown Towson and there is limited parking, so bring some quarters to feed the machines. -

They've upped their game!! We had delivery last night, and I swear they must have sent a spy up to Cafe Spice, because it was almost a carbon copy of meals we've had there.
Food was the best we have ever had from here!! Our usuals- saag paneer, chana masala, some roti to go with. Spice flavors were full-forward and nicely layered; LOVED the whole slivered ginger on the saag!! Nice bit of heat, sweet-citrusy ginger, eathy-sweet tang of fried garlic infused each bite; saag thick and creamy; chana lightly yet tastily sauced.
Food was very good before-- 4 stars-- but as of yesterday it was EXCELLENT!!!! They just went that extra bit more to jazz things up, and it worked wonderfully!!Listed in: Our Lutherville-Timonium…

We tried Kathmandu Kitchen on the basis of a rec by one of our Bengali friends. The strengths. The chicken momos were the best momos I'd ever had. The filling was well spiced. The wrappers were clearly handmade. And the sauce brought everything together.
The so-so: The shish kebab was also well spiced and flavorful but dry. Moreover, it was ground meat, rather than whole chunks, which made it pricy for what you were getting. The channa masala was interesting. It was spicy but there was a touch of honey in the background to sooth the spice. -

I've only ever eaten there during weekend lunch buffets. I've never had a bad meal. The trick is to go early (before 1:30) because they are a little slow to replenish the food items. I go for the lamb curry which seems to be a buffet staple on the weekend, but they tend to change some of the other dishes, which I like. The rice pudding is usually cold and super sweet with cardamum-the way it "should" be.
The wait staff have limited English, the interior is clean, and prices are on par with other city Indian restaurants -

I ordered in today, and boy was I wrong about this place being decent.
Among other things, I got chicken tikka masala.
I opened the tub that contained the tikka masala and it was so watery and thin that it had no taste.
To what extent do you think a restaurant has to water down an otherwise flavorful dish to the point where you cant taste it anymore?
Moreover, there was so little of the dipping sauce that it only coated the bottom and was still watered down!
I've ordered from Kathmandu kitchen in the past, this was the only time I've ordered something and everything had water thrown into it to the point where it was laughably obvious. And mind you, they still charge you top prices.
If you want to pay 20 dollars for water, from a dishonest business that think themselves clever, this is absolutely the place for it.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I've only had Indian food one other time in my life. The place was in Virginia, and it was right before I saw The Dark Knight at the Smithsonian IMAX theater. Possibly the best experience of my life.
Anyhow.
I ate here last week with my best friend and one of her friends. She's a big fan of Indian food, so I took her word. I tried to Alu Tama Bodi, and it was *delicious*. The Naan was really great too. I finished with the Gulab Jamun, which was perfect. Also, prices were reasonable, so I will go back.Listed in: OM NOM NOM

Warm and welcoming place with excellent food at a good price. Never got delivery but we do take out almost weekly. We aren't vegetarians but with so many great veg dishes we usually order one chicken and one veg. Child loves the sheesh kebab (ground lamb in little bullets) and naan. BYOB and have a delicious in expensive meal.

I just ate here last night because they deliver. The food wasn't too bad. For delivery indian, i will say that i'll be having it again. It cured my craving. The Chicken kadai was pretty good, shrimp rice, avg. I'll have to sample a few other things from this place before i add a star to the rating.

I moved about a four years ago from the DC area, and whenever I crave great Indian food this is where I go. I noticed that in the Baltimore area there aren't a lot of choices. Upon moving to Towson and doing my first dry run around my area (just to see what was around) I saw the sign for this place. Kept it in mind until I decided to order delivery.
I never had Indian delivery, not even in DC or the VA area.
Well, I made my order of Chicken Saag and Chicken Makhni, the last one is better known to most Americans as Butter chicken.
The receptionist was quite pleasant and I ordered my food, 40 minutes I was told.
So I ran to the wine store to get myself some nice wine to go with my food....I ordered extra hot, plus wine it a requirement with a good meal.
When I arrived, about 20 minutes after my original call, the food had already arrived. Fortunately he had just gotten there as well.
I laid out my food and smelled the delicious spices. I could have not asked for better.
I must truly say, the best Indian I have ever had, including all those sit down places I frequented when I lived in Fairfax, Va (tons of Indian there to pick from). Additionally I have a few Indian foodie friends that have recommended great places, but this one really tops them all at least in America.
The Makhni (butter) chicken was well spiced and hot, even my friend (not a hot food lover) loved its flavours. The chicken saag, my friend's dish was to die for as well, its creamy spinach was mouth watering. Everything was so well prepared and so fresh to my taste buds.
This place is the "IT" for Indian. This initial visit will prove quite dangerous for me. I have finally found the place where to get my so loved Indian food. Now, I have to go and have a sit down dinner in there....see what is like in person.
For food taste and service: A 10!! -

Kathmandu Kitchen has some of the best Indian food I've ever had in the area. Their sauces always seem to be perfectly spiced, and they have delicious naan. While it is true there aren't many other options in the area for Indian food, I believe even if there was I would end up coming back here anyway.
The only criticism I would have of the restaurant is the decor, which I find slightly off-putting, but I'm normally too busy shoveling chicken and naan into my mouth to notice. -

Mmm, Mmm, Mmm Good Food!! The decor of this place is out-dated, but the food is excellent. Went here on a Saturday night aroudn 8pm and it was not crowded at all! The waiter was very attentive in filling up our water, which was great since I was drinking water like no other! We got vegetable samosas for an app and split our entrees. Chicken curry is great and I love how they ask you if you would like it prepared mild, medium or spicy! It was very delicious and the price was reasonable. It isn't a place I would die to go back to because I am huge about atmosphere, but it was a great place to pop in and have a great meal! Thumbs up! BYOB

This review is based on the lunch buffet, on a Sunday, at around 2pm. They stop the buffet, I think, at 3pm. So, you might say, "You deserve what you get for going to an Indian buffet late(ish) on a Sunday."
Then, I might say, "the naan was dry and hard, and was not replenished when we took the last two. Neither were the pakoras replenished. The tikka masala sauce was gluey in texture. The lamb dish was overcooked and bland. The chana was good, as was the korma. There was a broccoli dish and a chicken curry which both tasted more like something you'd find at a Chinese buffet."
Based on that experience, I would either seek out one of the many other interesting-looking restaurants in the area, or go to one of the many better Indian restaurants in the Baltimore area. -

I went today for their lunch buffet - $9.49. I was impressed with the variety of dishes, and really like that they have numerous vegetarian options even though I'm a carnivore. The food was fresh enough for a buffet and they had enough patrons to keep the food turning over. However, many dishes were overly greasy and heavy.
I may go back, but am not in any hurry to. -

I don't pretend to know anything about indian food, but I think the channa masala and naan are delicious. I'm also a sucker for their mango lassis.
They DO deliver - you can order online at campus food. -

Kathmandu is a great place. Its atmosphere and food is very ethnic. When eating at Kathmandu understand you are going to an ethnic restaurant. Not some sort of american indian boujwa. The restaurant itself is very quiet, so if your someone who is loud and obnoxious this isnt the place for you. The food is fantastic. The chicken curry is one of my favorites. The lunch buffet is also a great inexpensive idea. I would highly recommend this place for Indian food lovers.

Nestled in the bustling corners of Towson,MD Kathmandu Kitchen is a rich blend of Nepalese and Indian delicacies. The food is authentic and the ambience likable. The owners Kiran and Sunder hail from the cadre of gracious hosts who go out of their way to make you feel at home.

Great place to get Indian and Nepali food. The lunch buffet is great and as a vegetarian I would recommend this to any other vegetarian. This is real ethnic food so if you want an americanized meal i suggest you try an open mind then come here.
