mm...i think the mashed potatoes are overrated...although i think its very rad that its prepared with soymilk.

and the buffalo chicken wing burger tastes like buffalo wing sauce. its too much! they douse that thing in the sauce...i get it! you're a buffalo chicken burger! stop screaming in my face! ...they could tone down the sauce a bit.

the peanut butter cheesecake...yeah...doesn't even come close to beating the real thing. i say pass on this one.

but DO order the apple pie. its got really thin layers and layers and layers of apples. quite tasty.

so although my review of their food doesn't seem on the up-n-up, i'm stickin' with my 4-stars b/c i just dig the vibes here.

You will either be super satisfied or very annoyed - it all depends on when you come here to eat.  When it's not packed it's a great spot to pick up some comfort food, an an excellent place to nurse that hangover over brunch.

I usually get an order of their buffalo wings for starters, which are basically fried tofu sticks slathered in BBQ sauce with a vegan ranch dressing and celery.  The McKate is a great veggie burger ... one of the best.  Also good are the chili dog and breakfast burrito.   Also, the disco fries are out of this world.

Their tofu scramble is made more to resemble eggs than taste like 'em, so steer clear.  Also, the pancakes are kinda lame.   But the brunch menu is pretty great and a good deal (about $10 for coffee, juice and entree) in a neighborhood thats becoming increasingly douchebag (thanks NYU).

Yes, the waiters are pretty 'cool' but they are friendly and attentive (usually) - I'd say I've had bad service about three times here, and those waiters haven't lasted long.  They are always playing decent music, and the atmosphere is relaxed and pretty spaced out.

This is the closest you'll get to a vegan diner on the Lower East Side, so enjoy!

Calling all calling all! Better knock those lenses out of your glasses before you hit this bar up! Did i fail to mention the plaid dress code? I sometimes wonder how a bunch of creative, hipster living twenty somethings can all end up wearing the same thing to a bar. The plaid overdose had my eyes seeing dots like those illusion grids that make you see dots when there aren't any. I have no problem with plaid just wow.

The drinks were weak, although not terribly priced for a place going by that "joint." I sat at the bar and the bartender was attentive which is also a plus.

The place is OK at best. Nothing special to write home about. i wish I had a better experience to return and try the food, but there are way better vegan/vegetarian spots that I wouldn't mind frequenting.

**2 stars - weak sauce bar, weak drinks, ho-hum bar. OK bartenders but I'll make my way and my wallet to another bar.

Been coming to Kate's for years, mostly ordering the Tofu Francese (lemon wine sauce, capers... mmm).  It is culinarily on a different level than the other dishes there.  In recent years I've tried other things on the menu: the Vegan Supreme entree, comprised of organic steamed vegetables, seaweed salad with carrot dressing, beans, and rice is quite delicious all blended together and drizzled with the ginger tahini sauce served on the side.  The onion rings are epic! The BBQ sauce served with has a slight curry flavor.

The thing that gets me, in this day & age, is their use of lactose-free "cheese" that does contain animal by-products.  It is a moot point to serve it at a vegetarian restaurant that makes all of its entrees "vegan." To offer a choice of real or lactose-free cheese is just weird! It should be real or vegan cheese by now.  THat's my complaint,

The dining room could use an update/some atmosphere.  The bathroom over there is almost worse than the ones on the bar side.

The bar has weekend specials on drinks... for a while I was enjoying the $2 Bloody Marys.

I loooove kates.
While it doesnt have the best food, the atmosphere is what gets me. Im a vegan that likes to relax while i eat and kates is just that. Get the buffalo burger and enjoy every second of it. :) my waiter, frank, was amazing and very nice.  His sunday morning brunch counterpart was none toi friendly though. :(
Also why no vegan cheeeese?

Good for vegan comfort food--especially if you want somewhere a little nicer than Foodswings.  I've had a lot of their vegetable sides and they've been great.

But I think that, for fake meat related items, I would go to Red Bamboo or gobo instead (a bit more realistic, I think). My friends have had mixed-reactions to Kate's.  It seems to be a bit hit or miss.

I'd definitely like to try out brunch there!

I'm not really in to vegan food (i love meat!), but this place is great. Brunch is my favorite, though the OJ tastes like concentrate. It's one of the few place in the area without a 2 hr. brunch wait. The "fakin" (bacon substitute) is not very good if you actually have tasted bacon, the potatoes are great and the kate's benidect is very good. I also really like the vegge burgers, though I can't really compare them to anything since I don't usually eat vegetarian.

I go to this part of the city so often, sometimes I think I should just move to the village and be done with it. But then, I also like travelling in white-neon-lit subways, taking turns to observe people and read my book, and walking through smelly subway passes once in a while.

Oh well.

I've been to Kate's Joint once before, when what's-that-hookah-place-called Le Souk refused to let us in without buying bottle service. We dropped in at Kate's, hung out at the bar for a couple of hours and got drunk on reasonably-priced alcohol.

This Tuesday, I decided to go check Kate's Joint out for the food. With 3-odd stars on Yelp, my expectations were tempered with some moderation. It is a pretty austere place, with the dim atmosphere a indication more of the budget than of the mood they're trying to create.

I sat down - the solitary waiter with kind sleepy eyes handed me a menu. I must say that I was pretty impressed with the choices I had! I wasn't terribly hungry and I'd heard so many good things about the chili here that I settled on a chili hot dog with dairy cheese.

The side of perfectly seasoned mashed potatoes was served with a smooth gravy. I chewed on this lovingly, patting myself on the back for having chosen it over salad or french fries. The hot dog itself tasted like something stale I bought off the deep freeze at a supermarket, and then overheated with the chili and cheese in the microwave to a salty dryness. Ugh.

For dessert, I got the sour-cream apple nut pie. It's apparently a new addition to their dessert menu. I couldn't tell it was vegan. It was pretty good, but let's just say I've been spoilt by its counterpart at the Little Pie company (which in addition to being more lush, is also served hot!)

I had a little discussion with my neighbouring table and they really liked their vanilla cheesecake as well. Maybe I'll try that next time.

Overall it was just okay.  I'd still go back here though to give it a second chance, and to try some of their other many many dishes!

We needed a snack attack after running to Williamsburg and returning to Gramercy via Avenue B.  So, for once in our lives, we made good decisions and hit up a healthy restaurant to quell those ravenous beasts inside us.  Too much?

On one side of the restaurant was like a weird bar area that housed various creative types, scooters and bicycles in tow.  On the other side was not the cleanest in the world nor the fanciest (but still awesome) diner.  We decided to sit at the only table smack in the middle of the two worlds, because we are pioneers.

We created our own veggie burger with buffalo sauce to split and we also split the hummus, goat cheese, and spinach wraps.  The food was a solid 3.5.

We laughed for a good hour or two with coffee.  No one got in our faces about keeping the noise down.  I know that might not seem like a big deal to you, but relaxed authority surrounding noise control is a trait I often look for in an establishment.

I liked this place.  I liked it a lot.  It kind of reminded me of the comfortable Friendly's of my childhood, but I am not sure why.  Maybe just because I felt so comfortable here with a childhood friend.

A friend recommended that place to me a while back and I was pretty disappointed.
I ordered a vegan pizza that looked and tasted nothing like a vegan pizza. It was basically a crust topped with tons of minced tofu, no veggies at all. I really really didn't like it and couldn't eat much of it. To me that was tofu pie, not pizza.
Second time there: ordered a veggie burger that was delicious, but the fries that came with it were limp and almost cold.
The place is kinda cute but I wouldn't go back to Kate's unless I had to.

Any place that is vegan is amazing in my book, but I wasn't that impressed.  Got a brokeback burger.  Sounds gay, but had so much potential. Onion rings and BBQ sauce.  With a side of mashed potatoes and a coffee.  Sounds great, right? Eh. Everything was mediocre.  Definitely want to go back.  Cool vibe, music in the place.

I have a fundamental problem with a lot of vegetarian food, exemplified by Kate's Joint.  First of all, I love vegetables.  A single ear of sweet corn, a pod of perfectly ripe peas, a savory hummus, well executed aloo gobi, or a refreshing bowl of tabbouleh, can rival any dry aged steak or strip of bacon in terms of sheer satisfaction.

So why do vegetarians need to validate their choices through textured soy proteins or wheat gluten, teased and beaten to resemble a chicken nugget, day-glo orange dyed soy made to resemble scrambled eggs or "veggie bacon"?  I instantly get turned off to any chef who succumbs to this inferiority complex.

Kate's Joint, I implore that you be proud of vegetables and don't hide behind textured vegetable proteins.  Make a nice ratatouille, a well executed salad or the perfect bowl of tomato soup, and i'll definitely back in for a visit.

I've been curious about this place for a while and finally decided to go the other day after catching a movie at Sunshine cinema. I pretty much enjoyed my meal but not so much what the b/f ordered

I ordered the Mckate with chilli on my fries. It was good and the portions were a nice size-but it quickly made mah belly full.

The b/f got the Not-Rueben sandwich. I took one bite and couldn't swallow it. All I would taste was warm smelly bologna. I'm a fan of fake deli meats-but this tasted awful. The b/f somehow ate half of it-which was a bad idea cos he got a tummy ache on our way home.

If you decide to go here-skip the restaurant and do the bar for drinks and chilli fries.

Had dinner here with a friend that was in town last night.  He's not a vegetarian and in fact probably farthest thing from it so needless to say he was a little wary.
Service was a little slow but considering the number of people that were dinging at that time I think it can be forgiven.
The food was great although if your a fan of french onion soup I wouldn't suggest it here.  Not that its bad just not quite right.
Veggie burgers are great, there are a lot of places in the city with home mage veggie burgers but they generally fall apart.  These were moist and firm.
So even if your not a vegetarian I would suggest checking this place out at least once.

I've been going to Kate's for over a decade (I'm so old?!). It's a classic veg establishment that everyone needs to go to at least once!

They get 4 stars from me, not 5, because the food is slightly too pricey for the quantity and quality, for the iffy service at times, and for cleaniness (not terrible but not great).

Recommendations: Buffalo Wings, Unturkey Club Sandwich, Chili Dawg, Tofu Scramble.

I really really really wanted to like this place. The menu is AWESOME, with so many great vegan things from breakfast to dinner to dessert. We came for breakfast because there aren't many places you can get a tofu scramble instead of eggs. AND IT WAS UNDER $5!! That is awesome. The tofu did not taste very good, it was almost as if they just put turmeric on it to make it yellow and didn't season it. The potatoes it came with were alright, and it came with a salad (strange for breakfast). The wife got a sausage mcmuffin, which she enjoyed because the sausage patty was delicious. It was overflowing with tofu. I am going to have to go back here for lunch and re-write my review. Check out my pictures.

Kate's joint is a solid vegan eatery in the heart of Alphabet City. The surprising dish on the menu is their linguine pasta. Many vegans will come to this place for the faux Buffalo wings with the incredible hot sauce.

Others still will opt for some pizza or other similar dish. Me? Me, I like the linguine with plain tomato sauce hold the garlic. For some reason it is incredibly tasty and I keep ordering it every time I go there now.

The service is OK, the bathrooms are smelly even after the renovation and the location is really dark. So even if you're there in the afternoon, it'll feel like you're in a cave somewhere.

Anyway, it's not too too pricey so it's definitely worth a try.

This is pretty much the total opposite of Pure Food and Wine: food you can sink your teeth into, casual atmosphere, and cooked food galore, but it's all vegetarian and almost entirely vegan. They use a lot of the same base ingredients for multiple dishes (breaded, fried tofu cutlets, mashed potatoes, etc.), but it's all good. Lots of fried food, but if you're into that, it's pretty tasty. They have a mock McDonald's burger that's excellent, if a little disappointingly pricey compared to the real, artery clogging thing, The clientele is very hip Village-y, but kids are welcome, and you won't feel uncomfortable no matter what you're wearing.

Now, listen: if you used to like Buffalo Wings, try the vegan Buffalo WIngs with mock blue cheese dressing. We always order two orders, and then never have room for  the main dishes! I'm originally from Buffalo and grew up with the real thing, and these are amazing. Much better than the boxed Health Valley ones that taste nothing like the real thing that you can buy at health food stores.

All in all, one of the best veggie diner experiences in the world, right here in NYC. We go here as often as we can which is never enough.

My boyfriend and I had a Saturday-morning craving for tofu scramble, and after a long search, found Kate's Joint on Yelp. The menu looked incredible. Vegan junk food/brunch? Yes, please. When we arrived there, we saw drinks were ALSO an option and were just about sold.

Service was pretty abysmal at first, the waiter seemed more interested in making a playlist on his iPod than taking our order (I love the Boss as much as the next guy, but come on.) After finding out that all their soy cheeses are not vegan (casein), we opted for a plate of nachos. They were pretty good - fresh shredded dark romaine, pico de gallo, beans and seasoned TVP. I was pleasantly surprised. The b/f ordered a Boddington's that was delicious, creamy, and complemented the nachos perfectly (or do the nachos complement the beer?)

Though the menu promises breakfast specials every day, I was told they didn't have any that day. Sadly, my promise of vegan brunch was broken. Instead, we each got a burger - he got the buffalo tofu and I got the "Brokeback," which was generously covered in sweet barbecue sauce and onion rings. Mine came with a side caesar salad that was absolutely fabulous. Next time I plan on just getting a dinner portion of this salad. I've had sub-par vegan caesar salads before, but this one was right on target. The dressing was probably a soy-mayo base, but if you're getting junk food, you might as well go all out. I don't think the same texture could have been reached using nooch and lemon juice. The burger was a lentil base, which I appreciate over a soy burger any day, but it was a bit dry. The onion rings were great, as was the buffalo tofu patty.

We didn't really check out the bar as it was packed with what looked like a birthday party, but it seemed to have a very nice ambiance on this particularly lovely sunny afternoon, in comparison to the darker, dingier atmosphere of the dining room. They have a good selection of beers on tap, as well as standard drink options.

The whole place was pretty loud and casual, so I wouldn't hesitate to bring the whole boisterous vegan family/crew.

I am a dream customer at any establishment...I love all foods. I like my food at any temperature you give it to me at. I'm prone to thinking that everything I put into my mouth (don't get pervy on me) is delicious. I don't care how long I have to wait for my food. I like to give a hefty tip just so I'm not seen as that 20-something girl who was a total prick. Etc. Etc....I'm a dream diner!

So, why did our waitress hate me and my similarly easy to please friends?! We had to beg for our order to be taken. She scowled at us when we asked for the orange juice we ordered, only after we had already ordered our food. My friend ordered eggs, received tofu instead, and was told it was eggs repeatedly until we made the waitress try what was obviously tofu.

My food was really good, though. We ended up having another waitress help us out and she was super duper sweet. This brunch spot would have been considered a total success and new favorite if we weren't in fear of our dragon waitress for the whole of the meal.

Very good vegan option, with huge portions and really great comfort food. It's huge and gives you plenty of room, so it's also great to bring a big herd. It's lovely as late brunch food to recover from a hard night before, because even though you can get good old fashioned junk food, it's a least a little less conscience-bothering due to the veganness.

Excellent site for pre-show eating too... Soaks up the booze during the days of CMJ or other LES concert-going binges.

I really hate to give Kate's two stars, because it's kind of a fixture on Avenue B, but I've honestly never been impressed with the food here.  I love vegetarian restaurants and frequently go to places like May Wah and Red Bamboo.  But Kate's, in my opinion, has always served mediocre, sometimes tasteless vegetarian food.

I've tried many dishes here hoping to like this place more, but to no avail.  Their mock meat is very sub-par.  Like, if you order the mock-buffalo wings appetizer, all it is is plain blocks of tofu covered with a thin wheat-gluten wrapping dipped in hot sauce.  Their southern fried chicken cutlet is the same concept -- but it's a breaded, flat piece of plain tofu instead of little blocks.  The mock calamari and shrimp are not just made of plain blocks of tofu, but they are overly fried to the point of being a little rubbery and really bland.  I've tried their sandwiches too and they are nothing to write home about.  The foccacia bread they use for a lot of their sandwiches is a nice idea but it's just not done very well -- too puffy and not enough spices used to really make it stand out from your average sandwich roll.

I'd say this place functions best as a vegan breakfast spot -- their mock egg dishes are actually really good, and there's never a wait for weekend brunch.  I mean, I don't want Kate's to close or anything, especially now that they have a funky little bar space that's been revamped and has a nice big flatscreen TV.  Plus it's cheap and conveniently located.  But if you go to Kate's looking for amazing vegetarian food you are going to be disappointed.  Hit up Birdie's or Red Bamboo instead if you want some really good mock meat and interesting vegetarian food.

It pains me to do this, but i'm demoting Kate's Joint from 4 stars to 3.

I finally made it out there again (i'm rarely in that neighborhood), this time at the busy weekend dinner hour instead of the deserted weekday lunch un-rush. Even though the place was packed, the service was pretty good, which impressed me.

The food, though, not so much. We got an appetizer off the daily special menu, a tostada, and it was pretty good. But my Not Reuben sandwich was just plain bad. The fake-meat was just grocery store fake cold-cuts, heated and thrown on some decent bread and topped with mustard and sauerkraut. I didn't even eat half of it. My dining companion's dinner was little better, a rather generic mac&cheese.

I'm going to give Kate's one more try, next time i'm in that neighborhood. I'll follow Rey's advice and try the buffalo wings and the club sandwich, or maybe the chili cheese fries. But unless i find something on the menu that i just can't do without, it'll be my last such adventure.

10 years ago Kate's Joint was really really good! However, it's gone downhill so much over the years!! the tofurkey sandwich used to be my favorite item on the menu and I used to really like their brunch, even a few years ago I'd still frequent it for brunch, but it just keeps going downhill.. I'm not a vegetarian or vegan, but my vegetarian roommate and her vegetarian sister brought me here one night. I'm pretty open to all types of foods, so I had no issues going here. My roommate had raved about the buffalo wings and the buffalo wing sandwich, so we decided to get them as an appetizer. While eating, we spent about 15 minutes debating whether or not we could try to conduct a taste test having people try to figure out the vegan dish. We decided it'd be a great idea because they tasted pretty close to the real thing.

For my main dish, I got the basic veggie burger. It was delish! It was incredibly big and came with a sauce made of something I'm not quite sure of, but don't really care because it was tasty. They had a lot of other veggie burgers on the menu, but at the moment I was strapped for cash and went with the most basic. I wasn't disappointed.

The reason I'm giving it three stars is because of the service and atmosphere. Our waitress seemed really apathetic towards us/her job (yes I realize most waitresses are frustrated actors, but at least try to fake it a bit for your customers to get a good tip). She rarely checked to see how we were doing, and spent most of her time in the corner text messaging. The decor of the place could also use a bit of a makeover.

Kate's Joint was exactly what I needed after a long day of walking around and dealing with the crowds and aggression of New York.

For one thing, the place is huge (by Manhattan standards) and I liked that I didn't feel like I was in a closet. I had room to stretch, and there's also a bar, in addition to a dining area.

I had a country-fried unsteak ($12.95) which consisted of perfectly-crisped and battered seitan, along with sides of green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, and a dollop of sweet potato mash. It was hearty, filling and well-executed. I wouldn't say the food is as good as Soul Vegetarian East in Chicago, but it was more than competent.

Kate's Joint also participates in the Mileage Plus Dining program, which was a nice perk.

The baked food is a little bland, but the salads are among the best I've had anywhere. Generous portions too. And the disco/gravy fries are to die for.

Stay away from the meatloaf. The Mac and Cheese isn't great either.

And the bartender knows the meaning of "Bring me something tasty with gin"

This place rocks! Whether you are vegetarian, vegan or neither. I am a veggie but I have friends who aren't and come here weekly for a great brunch firstly and secondly reduce their diet's carbon footprint-
Meat is not environmental however you slice it!

I always have a good meal at this place. I'm not a Vegetarian but would gladly eat hear any time. The food isn't out of this world but it is solid and you'll feel good after. Beers are cheep, Music is usually spot on, and the atmosphere is laid back fo real.

Giraffe Friendly.

As the other reviewers have stated, the service here is truly spotty. On my last of many visits here our server took order, irritatingly winking and smirking at us throughout out the process, then LEFT the restaurant without telling us or seemingly any of the staff never to return again! Another server eventually figured out to get our entree orders in but our appetizer never made it and we were later given the impression this was somehow our fault for not having a server instead of an apology.

You never know what will happen here but your server will, at the very least, cop an attitude/persona of some sort. But maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of the time the service will at least be sufficient in terms of its intended function of bringing you food in a timely and accurate fashion.

The food, however, is solid. I havent had a bad dish and my boyfriend has found their wings to be the only acceptable veggie substitute and my best friend loves their veg hot dog.

The prices are reasonable, esp. for brunch.

Oh, Kate's. One of the best restaurants ever, me thinkey. But before I launch into an explanation of why I want to give it 5 stars sooo bad, I first need to explain the kind-of-a-big-deal reason why I had to knock it down to 4 stars...

This place is toted as an all vegetarian restaurant that's great for vegans. And yes, it is not at ALL vegan restaurant, that is clear. But uh oh, Kate's! You have a very very very small note written in not large and not bold print at the bottom of the menu that explains that some of your non-dairy cheeses actually contain casein. (casein= not vegan). Then, in the heading of the Entree section of the menu, it states that "all entrees are vegan," yet the entree I ordered (and split, unknowingly, with my vegan bf), came with non-dairy mac-n-cheese. We found out after our plates had been cleared away why it tasted so damn good-- not vegan! Grrrrr! We had indicated that we would be ordering vegan and asked for non-dairy this and that, yet still both the waitress and the menu failed to educate us on this fact. SO FRUSTRATING.

That needed to be said. Now on to the good stuff!

Kate's food is amazing, and a ton of it IS completely vegan. For dinner, get a Southern Fried Not Steak or Unchicken Cutlets, served with mashed potatoes, yams, vegan gravy and collard greens, Non-dairy (but not vegan) mac n cheese, or fettucine alfredo (sooooo good), or a Philly Not Cheese Steak. Or, get one of the other 500 millions things on the menu, ranging from southern fried everything, to pizzas, to burgers, sandwiches, and salads.

Then.... BRUNCH! Yes, your brunch comes included with either a glass of juice, or a Budweiser, or a screwdriver or a greyhound. So yep, luckily I was on vacation when I had breakfast here, because I ended up having some noontime vodka with my delicious vegan scramble and sweet potato hash. It was one hell of a good way to start off my day.

I truly want to try everything on the menu. But, Kate's, if you are reading this, please PLEASE make your non-vegan fine print bigger, please re-write your Entree heading, and please train your waitresses to indicate which items are not vegan! This would have been very helpful.

Overall, I am a huge fan. I mean hey, I went twice in 2 days, that's sayin' something. I'll be back for more of that southern fried tofu and vegan barbeque... and maybe another vodka breakfast.

Ok, so I'm a straight-up meat eater through and through, but when I'm feeling considerate of my vegan/vegetarian friends, I take them to Kate's.

Kate's has done a great job of bringing vegan/vegetarian alternatives to everyone's favorite junk foods. Their meatless buffalo chicken wings are only lacking the bone that standard chicken wings have, otherwise I'd say I can't really tell the difference. Their take on the turkey club was especially delicious. Drinks weren't too overpriced. My friends have never complained about their dishes either.

The service could be a bit more attentive, thus the non-5 star rating. I'd say it's around a 4.5 for me overall.

After reading about Kate's at Yelp, I ventured over here on a warm Wednesday night, arriving at 6:45.

Nobody in the dining room; had the place to myself.

That changed soon, though. By the time I left, 7:45, there were maybe one or two tables open.

Lots of choices on the menu; I wanted to avoid something fried and wasn't interested in pasta at a vegetarian place (I can get that at an Italian restaurant), so I went with the BBQ Plate. That was tofu in a tangy barbecue sauce, with mashed potatoes, yams, and the vegetable of the day, sauteed zucchini. I also got a side of focaccia garlic bread.

Service was polite and efficient, though most of it happened before the dining room filled up.

The meal was tasty, and I felt the portions were a good value.

The focaccia garlic bread, though not bad, was steep at $3.50 for what is essentially two slices cut into four triangles. (Might even be one slice; I'm not the greatest judge.)

Still, the tab wasn't too steep: $22 before tip, no appetizers, two seltzers, no dessert.

This is a little off the beaten path for me, but I would go back. In fact, given that I've been to Clinton Street Baking Company a few times now, this is not so far from that, so it's good to know of another good restaurant (and vegetarian to boot) nearby. Once again, Yelp expands my restaurant horizons.

God, this place is a fucking dump. It's so run down looking and the staff follow suit.

I wouldn't say they are rude or mean, like some of the other reviews, I just feel like they don't really care. My waitress wasn't bad, she got our food out on time and took care of us, but overall I left there feeling depressed.

The food isn't amazing, but not bad. Veggie diner food. Good idea I guess. I'm sure if I were still a veg I'd eat here all the time, but I'm not, thank God.

What I want to talk about is the bathroom. That shit is on par with the old CBGB's bathroom. It's gross. There is graffiti on every inch of the room. Doesn't make a brother want to stay awhile and drop a deuce. Yeah, that's right, I went there.

Purely accidental that I ended up at Kate's Joint late night on a Saturday downtown....
Luckily, those moments usually work themselves out to be the most interesting! Upon arriving to a nearly empty scene except the bartender & two of his friends chatting some politics, the place was dead. Of course, we easily found our way into the debate & by the end of the conversation, my friend had found himself with a new homemade Obama tee. This was followed by an opinionated taste-test of vodka sodas vs. vodka tonics. Vodka tonics, no question. Lastly, we turn our attention to music....I don't know if it was remnants of our heated taste-test or just friendly patrons/staff, but I was treated to an all-request Rolling Stones jam session!
Even though Mick couldn't make it to the party, I think we managed to kill the evening rather successfully. Cheers to Kate's :)
