This place was ok.  I was just disappointed bc someone had said Karu & Y was a nice place.  Yes, there are at least 4 rooms w/ 4 different feels here.  It was like a maze!  And I kept hearing other ppl saying that as well.  But in my opinion, a "nice" place wouldn't have a room that was painted all black. Gross.  Looking back though, this spot isn't all that bad....even though it is in the ghet-to. Even the cabbie warned us not to walk away from the club or we'd get killed (not in so many words, but I know that's what he meant). SCARY!!

Nice and spacious...lots of places to go if you would like a change of scenery.  Better make sure you have your phone on you to call your friends, in case you guys separate.

The VIP room was a bit small and very secluded from everything.  A little boring, if you ask me.   The outdoor areas are awesome!  There is a huge stage for headliners and lots of space for the clubgoers; a loungey area w/ very high teak-y looking walls surrounding private booths for bottle service as well as white canvas covered sofas. So cozy and chill out there! Unfortunately, I heard the cops came and threatened to arrest the DJ bc it was too loud.  So lame.

The staff and [general?] manager were understanding and approachable when I had told them I'd lost my credit card. They took down my info (this was saturday night/sunday morning) and actually called me to tell me they found my card Monday morning.  So props for the follow-up!

Would definitely come back here next time I'm in Miami.

This place laks the omph that other places such as places in NYC and LA This place remined me of the late 90's and early 200's and not in a good way.

The music is bad and this place is overpriced. The outside area is great but If I'm in the area again I doubt that I would return. This place has a full bar which is good.

I have to agree with other reviewers and say that entering Karu and Y is like entering a labyrinth, but while you're trying to find your way around, you are disorientated by the super loud music. But that might just be a Miami thing because other places I went to tend to turn their music up beyond high. It's great that they offer variety, and the place is very well decorated - glass enclosed wine fridge, outdoor patio seating with sliding shaded doors, comfortable couches. The staff was also very attentive and nice, which you don't expect from clubs. It was also very not crowded on a Friday night, so I might go again another night just to check it out.
Drinks were expensive, but I'm starting to see the trend of the nightlife in Miami.

I have been to the best of the best from Limelight and Paladium in nyc to ministry of sound in europe.
This place lacks so much but more than anything they lack service to people who buy bottles and attempt to have a good time. Unless you like overpriced everything and nothing worth it inreturn stay away from here! Oh and the music is garbage just turn the radio on.

Karu is quickly climbing up the ranks as the hottest nightclub on the Miami scene!  Had stayed away for a while due to my last experience there, but decided to give it another shot on Saturday.

Now, I will say I didn't have to deal with the hassles and headaches of promoters and long lines.  We walked in through their private entrance, which is apparently their SUPER VIP entrance.  A friend that we were with was buying a bottle and had prearranged the whole thing, so not sure how you get to this special treatment, but I LOVED it!  :)

So we avoided the disgustingly long lines outside and made our way right in like the Rockstars that we are.  Once inside, the ENTIRE place (all rooms, anywhere you turned) was packed, including the restaurant.

The restaurant has reopened under the name of Seecomer's which is the new owner's last name.  This definitely looks like a place I would like to try, so I will let you know when I finally dine there.

We had our table outside in the House music area (there are 2 outside areas - the other consists of all cabanas and garden area and plays hip-hop music) where the DJ booth is actually hovering over a mini-pool.  The only negative aspect in the evening was the fact that because there were so many people and it was so crowded, our table ended up getting knocked over by some rowdy guys.  The whole situation was handled, the other group ended up taking care of us, and management made sure that no fights broke out, so all in all, it was a successful incident!  :)

Good times all around.  Whatever room you chose, the music was outrageously good!  From hip-hop, to house, to spanish, to a bit of rock n roll, I think I heard it all that night!  Its great to see that this place is finally getting not only the recognition, but the attention that it deserves!

This was a great location to check out with plenty of space with built in zen bridges crossing over a mini creek. The weather is key in Miami and they really utilize the outdoor aspect as well as the indoors to cool you off on a warm night! We spent a great few hours here. The drinks were a bit pricey, but it is Miami and this space was worth checking out.

Karu & Y had plenty of rooms to visit. I personally enjoyed the winding walkway through the outdoor restrooms. This was a shortcut to the other end of the bar without having to deal with the monster crowd. The concept of having a bathroom attendant essentially clean after each use is spectacular!

The wait was never long at the bar. Although it was crowded, we always found a spot to sit on their outdoor furniture. They had a tented bar area that was next to another open area (parking lot) with couches.

The red room of the night did have their decibels set a bit too high. I definitely would've brought my ear plugs if I had known!

I did not experience the restaurant side to Karu & Y, but I think this is an ideal model of how a lounge/club should be laid out. The crowd was not pushy (as it was in a few establishments we went to in Miami).

Check it out!

Come here only if you are invited for a specific event.  This place does a great job of hosting several large parties at once.  The rooms sound good, people seem to have fun.  I enjoyed it, but at times, it was just a little played out.  Reminded me of large scale clubs of the late 90's and early 2000's.  Sparklers on the champagne on the bottles bought for the tables is cool, but we've seen it before.  Good djs, nice lights (not synced to the sound), spacious but crowded.  This is a good club, but quite forgettable.

Pros:
- Lots of rooms playing different music & you can 'bar-hop' without having to go too far
- Awesome music & mostly good DJ's
- Good drinks

Cons:
- Long line to get in (even on guest lists)
- One DJ felt it necessary to keep giving his 2-cents' worth & all we wanted was to keep listening to some good music
- Expensive drinks (beer about $8; cocktail about $15)

Insert Fat Joe Lyrics...

Fresh off the runway, pair of white Nikes
Phantom top-drop on that I-9-5
Pink seersucker suit, who but I
On my way to party at KARU & Y
Now I ain't gotta tell you that them boys pop bottles
And mami's lookin like America's Top Model

This club is awesome! I went on a Thursday night and I had such a good time! I love the trendy feel and the different rooms. My favorite part was the outside patios. Seriously, this club is huge!! I can't wait to go back.

However...
1/2 star removed for the ridiculously overpriced drinks (5 patron shots for $75.00 bucks????)

1/2 star removed for the 45 minute wait to get in (my feet were hurting before I even got in!)

Oh and yeah I was DEFINITELY looking like America's Top Model ;-)

Deep C. and me spent like five million dollars here at WMC for the Om party. We went deep into the goose n soda, and he even stole me a redbull from the bar because Deepcuts is a gangsta.

I don't know if it's because we were blinded by all the headlights or just because this place is as cavernous as your mama, but I swear we got lost like nine or ten times. Also, the bathroom attendant kept walking in on the bathroom stalls. WTF? Are we in a police state?

Anyway, minus one star for the bathroom stall attendant, minus one star for the stupid expensive South Beach drink prices when your shit is DOWNTOWN. Fortunately we rolled in on the VIP or I would have had to smack em down another star for the long ass artificial line they kept outside.

Damn people, doesn't anyone just want to own a club for the fun of it? Why all the ego and attitude?

After $25MM invested in this restaurant I would have expected the food to embody just that.  However, even the Dale Chihuly chandelier cannot save this place. The portions are so small you need a microscope to see what you are eating.  My friend and I decided to try this restaurant out and later we really wished we would have gone somewhere else.  The waiter strongly recommended we try their octopus carpaccio with sorbet (which was about $25 if I can remember correctly)....well there were 4 slices the size of my pinky so that when we put it in our mouths we could have been eating anything.  We also ordered the lamb chops A. tiny and B. just okay.  The drinks there are high-priced, but at least they are artistic and full of flavor.  If you decide to head down to Karu & Y, I hope you experience something better than we did.

i was here for the OM miami party this year.. well. it IS a nice venue i must say that. but wow they serve some shitty ass drinkks!! not to mention they are like 18-5000 dollars each!!!

though.. can't deny that it's a great venue.. plenty of room to get down and a UGE HUGE HUGE HUGE ooutside stage area.. perfect to soak in the miami vibe. form what i hear though, it's usually a very fancy and pompous place.. but for a HOUSE MUSIC event i guess they let a lot of stuff slide (like dress code). i don't think i'd ever ever ever want to come here for a hip hop event.

im giving it a 4 stars for this event.. but since i'd probably give it a 1 star for any party that wasnt the OM party.. i'll give them a 3...

The following review is courtesy of a traveling San Francisco yelper:

Two years running Karu & Y has been the spot for Om: Miami, and I hope it's just the beginning of a long tradition of legendary parties. The club is simply stunning, with a modern, sleek decor throughout. There are five different room, highlighted by the outdoors Totem Gardens and its rivers, waterfalls, gardens and cabanas. You can't really beat dancing outside to the likes of Mark Farina, Sneak and Marques Wyatt while the sun is rising on a beautiful Miami Beach day.

The see and be scene hotspot in Miami Beach. DJ's indoors and outdoors,  keep the beautiful crowd pumping. Amazingly decorated space with multiple bars and levels. Under the starlight is the place to be, with it's outdoor waterfalls and private cabanas.
We caught Patrick Oliver spinning, what a treat. He dropped a lot of old skool tracks that had us dancing until the sun came up. Definitely the place to be on Saturday night.

I was here for WMC, so Im not sure how the venue is during the regular season. The outside area is gorgeous and so are the many rooms inside this place. I just wonder how it does during the regular season since its kinda away from the sobe area and near the afterhours clubs. FYI: The outside bathrooms have misty glass doors, which you can pretty much see what people are doing. The couple waiting in line after me didnt care if people were gonna watch them get it on. LOL

By far the best club I have ever been too in my life!  Our company throws a massive party in Miami for WMC, and this was our second year to take over this place.

There are 5 rooms, with 2 of them being outdoor gardens.  The cabanas are amazing, not to mention the vibe you get from everyone there.  Outside in the gardens are amazing rivers of water, and it is just a beautiful place all around. Our party was yet another success and we were told again that it was the best party @ WMC!  I have never been here other than for our party during WMC, so I don't know what it is like on other occasions.  My only complaint is the ridiculous amount of money they want to charge for drinks, especially water.  Who has ever heard of bottled water costing $12???  Yes thats right I said it, $12!!!!  I almost felt like I would just drink out of the massive waterfall they have outside the club, hey...it would be free!!

bottle service in karu & y is as good as it gets!

we had a table directly in front of ms. samantha ronson as she spun some good beats, while girlfriend lindsay lohan starred blankly at the table nearby. for some reason the club let paparazzi in, so as they crowded our space, we took pics of them to annoy them and make them move. it worked. or samantha stopped djing, too drunk to really remember!

the interior is beautiful, modern with a touch of elegance. really enjoyed the snacks they offered at the bar (mac n cheese lollipops, delicious!) the crowd was varied, music was bumping, everyone was having a good time..

a very cool way to spend a night in miami! if vegas and san diego had a love child, it'd be karu & y!

I should love this place. Gorgeous dark wood, nice courtyard are to hear music without smelling like someone else's stinky cigarettes, and a great sound system (though by the middle of WMC week, I was stone deaf, so maybe don't quote me there). But we only liked it. The staff we encountered was pretty useless (rude, mixed up every drink order). I wouldn't pay the $80 RT cab fare to go here again unless DJ God was spinning (and he put me on the list, of course).

Karu and Y is a beautiful club, restaurant, bar, lounge. It is very well designed and has multipule areas; many bars both inside and outside, fine dining restaurant, cabanas, stag area for live performances. You can start the night have drinks and appetizers in the lounge and move into the diining room for dinner and then finish the night dancing or in one of the lounges either inside or out side. The big set back is the location is in a area that you will not feel completely comfortable to drive though however when you get there you will be surprised. Valet parking is highly recommended.
