Lowell, MA
First time trying sushi, so can't trust me too much! Went with a coworker who raves about them, and was very impressed! The sushi was plated beautifully, and tasted amazing. Spring roll appetizer was one of the best I've tasted so far. Great service, and beautiful inside. Will definitely be going here quite a bit!

I've eaten at Karma a few times with coworkers. Good sushi is hard to find around here, and though their sushi is pretty good, I'll stick to my other haunts. It's a bit pricey and the quality is only somewhat better-than-average, making the cost harder to swallow. However, they do have a good variety of rolls to choose from.
Service is spotty. The servers are pleasant and accommodating, but they often seem confused or flustered, and orders have been either mixed up or forgotten entirely. This seems to happen even when it is not super busy.
What I do enjoy here are the lunch specials, which are a variety of entrees that each come with small salad, soup, and a sushi roll and appetizer of your choice. It's a nice fusion of Chinese and Japanese cuisines on one plate.
There's plenty of seating to accommodate small and large groups, plus a full bar if that's your thing. Plenty of parking as it is located in a strip mall just off of Route 495 in Westford. -

Concord, MA
In my first review I commented on the skill of bartender Jesse at the mixology wheel. Alas, and little did I know but Jesse only tends the bar on Tuesdays and the real master of booze is Megan. She is there most nights and let her make you a cucumber martini, or a leechee, or maybe her aloe. These are perfect summer drinks but heck I go for them year-round. The bride and I have been frequenting Karma for a couple of years now and heading up there from good old Concord once a week. Not many would drive so many miles for to go but frankly there is nothing near us with such quality Japanese inspired meals. With Iverson as the master chef and overseeing all things sushi, he takes delight in pleasing you and testing your sense of unique dishes. Dare to ask him to just create for your table or to-go! You will not be disappointed.
Lately, my favorite has been to do just that. With really no names for his recipes, out comes delicious ahi tuna dishes with the most unique flavors of fruit and heat. You could almost drink the accompanying sauce that this fresh tuna is delivered with. Recently, my daughter and her boyfriend delivered blue fin tuna caught off Truro on the holy Kamoli. Chef Iverson explored their senses and wowed them with dishes they have never experienced at Karma!
My turn next with the blue fin as I have about 10lbs frozen in our Cape home for a return to Karma soon.
One important point is how good the staff is. They are friendly, engaging and polite. They remember your name and appreciate your return. Go there.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Wife and I went to Karma for Sunday lunch. We got there about 12:15 and we were the only customer inside. The sushi chefs were preparing a large take out order so our order is little bit slow coming up.
My wife ordered tempura udon which all you taste is soy sauce, a below average dish. Then we shared a scorpion maki, which is okay. I had sashimi plat, the fish taste very decent. The only complain I have is I asked for a small bowl of sushi rice which most restaurant would give you for free, but Karma charged $3 for it. Come on, $3 for the rice!!! -

Westford, MA
I have been eating sushi, sashimi and nigiri for almost 50 years, and I can say that Karma presents the best fish in Westford and surrounding area. The manager and head sushi chef goes by the name of Iverson, his preparation is remarkable, excellent fish, beautifully presented with some truly inventive preparations. That he is totally fluent in English makes for easy ordering and even special requests. My wife and I are frequent customers and the staff takes extra pains to try to know every customer by name and their ordering preferences and really does succeed. As we do not generally order from the Chinese side of the menu I can't speak for the entire menu but the soups are excellent and what little we have ordered has always been first class, hot when appropriate and cold when needed. I recommend this restaurant to all of my friends and acquaintances and have had nothing but positive feed-back. Because of the regulations and requirements of the State, no sushi or the like will ever be "cheap", the chef's choice meal "omakasa" is marvelous and priced fairly. TRY IT. You may discover a new dining experience.

Solid and unexpected for Westford. I'm usually not an asian on asian fusion fan, but the Japanese, Thai, and other random Asian stuff were pretty Solid
Pros:
1) Chicken Pad Thai- Mmmm
2) Miso Soup had extra scallions- Luv that
3) Sushi: Vegetarian Maki and some salmon/spicy tuna combo.. It's all about the sauce and this was a homerun. Unfor. it only came with 4 pieces!!
4) Service and atmosphere or maybe it was just a good night with good friends.
Cons:
1) Spicy Beef with Green Beans- ummm, it was Spicy?
2) Seaweed Salad- ummm. something was wrong with it
3) Chicken Fried Rice- ehhh? and okay
If you live in the area, then I think this is a must try- but don't make a huge trip for this place. -

Westford, MA
First off, whoever designed this place did a great job. Seriously, the interior is beautiful. The bar looks great, and the drinks are VEERRRY STIFF.
I've been to a lot of chinese food spots in Lowell, Chelmsford, Dracut, Littleton, all around the area... and how Westford has the best two chinese restaurants half a mile apart from each other is beyond me.
This is a review for Karma. Which in my eyes, is number one.
Best sushi in town (not saying much though, it only has to compete against Bamboo, which in itself is pretty good sushi).
Look, I'm not a Chinese food snob. I don't care much for the traditional dishes, I care about the food I like to eat most often. When it comes down to it, I always rate a chinese restaurant on basically 3 chinese-american dishes: General Gaus Chicken, Crab Rangoons, and Peking Raviolis.
Karma does this the best out of every, single, restaurant, in, the, area. Seriously --- this place may beat the Gows and Goons I had on the now defunct 2nd floor in Chinatown (R.I.P.).
Now that we got that stuff out of the way.. the best dish on the menu is the Happy Family (get the spicy one). Big chunks of scallops, chicken, squid, veggies, all atop a crispy, crunchy shell (very similiar to a Birds Nest).
The people at Karma are very friendly, and they are okay with you getting hammered at the bar. I've left their many a night stumbling out, stuffed with Gows and Goons (always have a DD!)
It may be a little pricier then the other Chinese restaurants... so if that's your beef -- don't come. I hate it when the bar is so busy and I can't get a seat. -

Waltham, MA
We have been coming to Karma for several years now, but since moving to Waltham we don't get there as much as we would like. Still, if we are celebrating or want to have a really special experience, we make the trip to Karma. A few weeks ago we went for the first time since moving in January. The staff seemed genuinely thrilled to see us back, and that made the experience even better. We usually sit at the bar and enjoy Megan's outstanding cucumber martinis, but we have also sat at the sushi bar and watched the beautiful fish being prepared. Everything is a work of art. We have never had anything but the sushi, but it has always been excellent.
Baked salmon maki with fried sweet potato is a favorite, as is the spicy tuna, shrimp tempura maki, and alligator maki. We have also had the tuna taco, which is like seviche with chopped jalapeno. The interior is beautiful, the staff is friendly and the food and drinks are great! It is not cheap, but good sushi rarely is and at least the drinks are strong and good. -

Lunch is a deal. Went with my colleagues today (way out of the way), but it was pretty tasty and worth the drive (once a year). I had a pad thai extra spicy. The bill read spicyspicyspicyspicyspicy and it was spicyspicy-tasty. The cute waitress made me a fan.
Okay - It is Asian fusion ... and I don't really know what that is supposed to mean ... but who cares if it is tasty and service friendly and efficient. If I happen to be hungry way out there, I'd go again. -

Westford, MA
Karma is a great little restaurant tucked in a generic strip mall but sure does pack a punch. Beautiful decor in a cozy atmosphere help make this place a go to for a mid week dinner outing. I highly recommend going for lunch because they have fantastic lunch selections served on a tray full of a vanity of samplings. Both times I've been, once for lunch and once for dinner I waited quite a bit longer than expected butonxe the food came it was clea it was because everything is made fresh. Excellent addition to the town.

Sunday evening we were heading home from a business trip on 495 North. 8PM and needed sustenance so by chance found upon Karma's Japanese & Chinese Fusion restaurant, in a "strip mall" just off 495 in the beautiful town of Westford MA.
We enjoyed (wolfed?) our dinner. Started with the egg rolls, onto the Traditional main plates selections, Sesame Crispy Chicken and another from the Rice and Noodle section, Pad Thai.
All very tasty with fresh seafood, chicken and excellent crispy veggies along with several very friendly waitresses.
If we lived closer to Karma, we'd be here often and able to sample the Sushi bar and the many other great fusion choices. -

Nashua, NH
It's unfortunate that I can't give this restaurant 0 stars.
The food here terrible, and is not worth the price paid for it. The portion sizes are ridiculously small- talk about budget cuts! My friends and I left hungry. An order of $14 sashimi is merely a few scraps of raw fish, the lunch box with beef teriyaki tasted like cafeteria lunch meat with sauce on top, and my "dragon's eye" roll was akin to the sushi that I pick up at Shaw's for $8. I think this place invested too much money on the oversized ornate lights, "Karma" imprinted spoons, and....seat cushions for cushioned booths? Makes no sense. Seriously dissatisfied with the food and unfriendly wait staff. I wouldn't come back here if someone paid me! -

Have been here three times for dinner with family. Overall the food is good and the service is great but I have one gripe that I have with most Asian restaurants...don't call a dish spicy on the menu if it's not gonna be spicy when it arrives at the table. I order spicy dishes because I like spicy foods. If I wanted the dish less spicy I would ask for it to be toned down.

I finally got a chance to go here for the first time about a year after I tried it. Got the Happy Family, a stir-fry of veggies, chicken, beef, scrimp and scallops (seriously, what else could I need?) and loved it.
Also got some of the best vegetable rice I've had. It tasted like something you'd make at home, not some greasy thing you could get anywhere.
The decor is nice, but it seems a bit bright inside for dinnertime.
Prices were reasonable, service could have been faster, but delicious food!1 Previous Review: Show all »

This place features great "lunchbox" specials served on partitioned trays....like the ones you'd get on an plane if you were rich enough to fly on an airline that serves meals.
For 9 bucks I got a bowl of soup as an appetizer; then a portion of salad, General Tso's chicken, fried rice, a couple of chicken fingers and three spicy tuna rolls. My coworkers got similar specials, and one got 12 sushi rolls for $12.
Service is quick and friendly and all the sushi is fresh. Quality is high and value is higher. A true Strip Mall Gem. -

Nashua, NH
This place is absolutely awesome. My friend and I came for a Friday night dinner after work, and had several sushi rolls and a scorpion bowl. The sushi was hands down the best I have had in a very long time. Other local places, like Bamboo, don't even hold a candle to Karma. Everything was delicious! On a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being "ok" and 10 being "perfect", Karma's sushi gets a 12.5. The drink was pretty good -- tasty and pretty strong. But the sushi -- oh my. I have eaten a lot of sushi in my lifetime. I don't know if it was a particularly "on" night for the sushi chef, but everything was just phenomenal. I don't think I will be able to enjoy sushi anywhere else after this. I am ruined for all other sushi.
As for the non-sushi stuff ... well, we didn't order any non-sushi stuff. The menu has tons of great-looking (and great-smelling) dishes on it, for those who aren't into sushi. Which is great, because I can't wait to drag my husband here sometime. The prices are definitely reasonable, especially for the superb quality. It was fairly quiet for what I would expect on a Friday evening, which was nice. The atmosphere is pretty run-of-the-mill for Asian-fusion restaurants. I kind of want to steal their chandeliers, but I won't because that would be wrong.
A nice bonus was that after the meal, the waitress brought us a "fried" ice cream dessert on the house to split. It was tasty and just a very sweet touch. Overall, it was a wonderful meal, and I recommend it to anyone who loves sushi, Japanese, or Chinese food. -
Review from Mike L.
I only ate here once. I eat Chinese and other Asian food often, and often enough to judge most Asian restaurant. I tried this one because it's close where I stay (The Hampton Inn). I didn't quite like this place. The cleanness and quietness are the characters I like, but the price of the food and charging me for Green Tea are the characters I don't like.
With its price tag, I should be able to eat much better Asian food in Nashua or Boston. It should have done much better. I won't come back again even I stay in the same hotel again. -
Review from Cassie B.
Been here twice, sat at the bar for some food. Service is a little slow to start, especially if its busy. On the monday i went, there were a surprising amount of people in the place.
Bartender can make a mean drink.
They have some interesting features for sushi, so be sure to ask.
The spicy tuna volcano roll is a mess, but to die for. -
Review from Larissa C.
New Orleans, LA
I like the lunch specials, which are reasonably priced considering they offer "a little bite of everything". Served on bento trays, with any lunch special order you get a soup option, an appetizer option, a maki option, and a rice/lo mein option. Over my two visits here I've tried the salmon teriyaki and the unaju, both were good. Also, I enjoyed both the side dish maki (spicy tuna and Alaskan). The only problem I've encountered concerns the service, which on one occasion was slow and inattentive, but I will chalk that up to an off day.

I love this place. I am kind of a sushi snob (but from the boonies, so don't trust me too much! :-) ) and this place is my favorite for sushi.
They have many unique maki that are beautifully made and wonderfully seasoned. They have a real knack for mixing flavors harmoniously here.
Friends who order their chinese and thai dishes rave about them, but I can only speak to the japanese, which is simply wonderful!
The staff and chefs are extremely friendly and nice. I am proud to be a 'regular' ! -

The GF and I wanted to try this place since we were going to be in the area.
4 and 1/2 stars!! Very nice!
The food was exceptional. We ordered the Spicy tuna roll, Alligator roll, and the New York roll.
The Alligator was REALLY good, and I highly recommend it.
The Spicy tuna was also good.
The NY was good, but was a tad dull.
Everything tasted super fresh
The wait staff was really good, and the decor was top-notch (though the oil paintings DO seem out of place, as someone else had mentioned), but didn't take away from us having a nice dinner.
The cucumber martini is definitely worth a try.
Give it a try! -

I hope I was here on an off night...
In town visiting family and 10 of us went to Karma tonight for dinner. Things started off ok, a nice private table (we made reservations) and decent drink ordering service, but as the night when on, things got progressively worse.
As a table we ordered a couple of appetizers, soup, 4-5 main dishes plus the sushi yacht. One soup never came, the 4-5 main dishes were cold, the white rice didn't come out until we were almost done eating the meals and the sushi yacht came 20 minutes after the other dishes. I can understand the difference in preparation times, but they should have either asked if we wanted one before the other or given us an update when they saw that the sushi was running so far behind. I was unimpressed, to say the least.
The food tasted ok, not great.
They did give us some free sushi. Fine.
And some free ice cream for dessert.
But come on?
I appreciate the free stuff but would have appreciated it more had it accompanied a warm, timely dinner.
I wouldn't go back to Karma, though the family has said they've had good experience with their take out. -
Review from Al R.

Great place. I rank it better than Bamboo because the service staff is nicer. I eat the shushi and the rest of the family eat the hot dishes. The only down side is that they push selling drinks a bit too hard.
There is plenty of parking and you can expect your bill to be around $20 PP. -

This place is just fantastic. They have big tables with a lot of comfortable seating, and the service is fast and reliable - great for birthday lunch or dinners, or going out with quite a few friends. The food is fantastic - some of the best Asian fusion you'll find in the area, and the sushi is Definitely (with a capital D!) fantastic.
Sometimes the music can be a little loud, especially at lunchtime, but the staff is happy to turn it down if you ask your server. -

Karma is great for eat-in or take-out. The servers there are always friendly! I have brought my 2 year old daughter with me on a few occasions and the servers always pay extra special attention to her. They bring her over little treats - like a tiny drink umbrella - and always treat her with respect as if she were the one paying the bill!
The food is great too! The sushi is fresh and so creative! I love thier Volcano roll - it's hot, spicy and just delicious! I haven't tried too much from their cooked menu, but the few items I have ordered have been great!
When we order larger amounts, they usually throw in a free sushi roll and orders over $25 come with a free dessert.
It's an all around great place to go - especially if you don't want to drive into Boston for a great meal! -

My wife and I took a friend to dinner here and none of us were impressed. The pad tie was a mashup of egg noodles and maybe some rice noodles, and the ribs were smothered in a greasy sweet sauce. The sushi was average. They also got our order wrong... twice.

I really like the way the different spaces in this restaurant are set up. As one looks in, there is the very modern and stylish bar area along the left wall, the sushi bar is towards the back where we could see our sushi being placed into our boat. The main dining area has a variety of seating options with each table placed pretty good distances apart. They also have a nice private dining area which looks out most of the windows. The menu includes a very good selection of Chinese, Japanese and Thai options. My daughter and I had the sushi and sashimi boat for 2. The sushi chefs gave us a very good variety of fish and the quality was quite good. Our meal came with a very fresh salad and a good sized bowl of miso soup. We were ready to order dessert when our server informed us that dessert came with our meal. Hey, that sounded good to us!

After living in Boston for the last 5 years, my wife and I have experienced some of the best sushi there is. Karma is right there. Like Fugakyu, Oishii, and Douzo, the quality is excellent but without the $$$$ bill at the end. How do I convince you? The sashimi is thick, really thick. They serve raw squid, try getting that outside of Boston. Ever have raw mackerel that was sweet, not fishy? Karma has it. I was never a roll person, as they seemed to mask the flavor of the fish. Karma has swayed me. The chefs create some of the most fabulous flavors that enhance the fish not hide it. The waitstaff is crazy helpful and so friendly. On the first visit we were not used to the up close service always, checking and offering suggestions. All of these suggestions have been excellent, and we always ask for the special rolls of the night. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable of the menu. I suggest the Fusion Maki, Crispy Salmon Skin Salad, Squid Sashimi and the Cucumber Martini. We have not tried the Chinese menu yet, so only 4 stars until then.
Went back to sample the Chinese side of the menu a number of times, and was not disapointed. Plenty of flavor, meeting any expectations that a good Asian menu should have. A true test, crab rangoons, were light, crispy and flavorful. They are the best I have had in the 'burbs. They best deal by far is the Karma Lunch Box, offered everyday between 11:30 and 1:00. For $8-11 you get a choice of entree, rice, appetizer, soup, mini salad, and 3 piece sushi role. I have yet to finish one. -

To many restaurants of its kind in the area. I Have been to karma many times since they opened. The sush is just ok and the food is average. The cocktails however are phenomenal. the only problem is the bar is at a weird/awkward height. Other than that the ambiance is kind of cheap and cheezy buy overall an ok place. If I was looking for this kind of food i would travel a half a mile down Rt. 110 going toward Littleton and eat at Bamboo. Quality is much higher.

There's no way I can love this place as much as Sakura (in Chelmsford), but Karma comes a close second. Both times I've been there, I've gotten free ice cream at the end of the meal, and if that's not the mark of a good restaurant, I don't know what is. Karma's specialty maki rolls are wonderful, especially the toro with truffle oil...whoa. The chef came to our table and recommended dishes, which is rare for a small restaurant in the 'burbs. They also have delicious edamame. The only thing that irks me about Karma is the decorating. Most of it is gorgeous, including a dark-wood bar, glass partitions filled with lights, and oddly interesting light fixtures. But one entire wall is filled with portraits of flowers and fox hunts--and it does not go at all. Seriously, I know that sounds dumb, but it'd be so much better without the paintings!

Have been here a few times for lunch (close to work, so sometimes groups go here). The lunch boxes seemed a little pricey and I did not find them to be very good. Have been going since it first opened - about a year ago they installed a new bar (the old one was so tall it was awkward to sit at). Typically I'm getting takeout when I go there (recommend the sushi - especially the spicy ones), so I sit at the bar while I wait for my order. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is cool. It's often busy at night, so sometimes it can take a while for sushi orders - but do like I did and let Jesse make you a specialty drink (try the cucumber martini, trust me). Suddenly you won't mind the wait.

We enjoy Karma. The food is good. The atmosphere is definitely above average and the staff seems quite friendly. I could probably name a place with better sushi or better Chinese but Karma is very satisfactory. I agree that things are a little slow but that may indicate careful preparation. I would not recommend the "fusion" part of the menu. Overpriced and not that good.

First time here and loved it. The maki rolls were delicious. They have quite a bit of unique items on their menu compared to other sushi places which is really nice. I am now a fan and would return again. The waitress we had was also very nice and courteous.
I gave it 4 stars only because our salted peppered squid came out under seasoned and over done but we loved everything else we got. -

For sushi, I haven't had better in this area. I've been to the competiton in Chelmsford and down the road at Banboo, but the sushi here is much more creative, a fuller menu, larger sizes, and very fresh. The prices are Boston-esque, so beware. I agree with Allie on the decor - mostly contemporary, but what is up with the doctor office paintings? I can't rate table service as I ordered take out but the hostess was very friendly and helped get my order completed soon as I was in a rush. The bar looks like a great alternative to our usual after work haunts with a few TVs, nice long seating, and a casual / friendly / modern flair.
