5 reviews for Kapalua Bay
For the Haoles that want a beach without Man-O-Wars, a spot to sun, and it not been too crowed ya'; go to Sandy Beach. Find it by first heading to Kapalua Bay area, then putting in your GPS to find the Four Seasons resort area and find parking by the hotel circle.
They have this awesome 4 net volleyball quad that is wicked. Right on the beach, next to the hotel. It is windy, gives you some great sets to boogie board, body board. You can throw up a surfboard however there is lifeguard on duty. The water like most of the islands doesn't get deep which means the waves crash on shore; so be prepared for some thrashing. Wear a secure suit!
I would recommend it for children with floaties and a watch ful eye. It is away from the tourists even though it is right at the hotel's end.
Good times. Mahalo

I love coming to this beach to snorkel when I am on Maui. It is a spacious beach with lots of sand and sun. The bay does not get too busy and the waters are tranquil. Snorkeling is great here and reefs seem to start just a few steps into the water. I cruised around this entire bay and there were tons of tropical fish all around. No need to go to Molokini when you can see it all right here.
This a really good place for a day of easy snorkeling. Come early for a good parking spot. Nice beach with good facilities (real bathrooms).
The water and the surrounding views are breath taking, as is most everything on the island.
Just a nice place to go to enjoy yourself. We even went here at night to sit and have a beer and a cigar.
I didn't like this beach because it was really windy at the time and it seemed unsafe to go swimming. We ended up driving on to Napili and Honolua instead. I suppose conditions will be different every time and you should judge the situation carefully. I bet it's beautiful when the weather is right. I figured the water would be pretty good because it's protected, but whatever, I guess it just wasn't our day.
Sandy Beach with Snorkeling (great for beginners!)
Location: On Hwy. 30, at the Napili Plaza, turn toward the ocean on Napilihau Street. When Napilihau Street "T's" at Lower Honoapi'ilani Road, turn right. Drive almost a mile to Napili Kai Beach Club and turn toward the ocean at the Shoreline Access sign. Park in the lot and walk through the tunnel to the beach. The best snorkel access is on the north side of the bay.
Facilities: Showers, change rooms, restrooms
