North Las Vegas, NV
once again the Marriott doesn't disappoint. great service, great room, great amenities. gym located on the 23rd floor with a great view of the city. i stay in Marriott's all over the country and this was one of the nicest. by the way, walking distance to the Power and Light District was nice too.

Things I liked:
- room was clean
- gym was big
- free coffee in the lobby in the morning (it was OK coffee, but FREE)
- employees were SUPER friendly
- free snacks in the lobby level bar for happy hour (this is a platinum guest perk, but everyone goes).
- the place is getting renovated, should be real nice
- beds were comfy
- Bath and Bodyworks shampoo/soap/lotion
Things I didn't like:
- this place is HUGE, as in, I got lost.
- $10 for wi-fi EACH DAY
- basement reminded me of the shining -

Nice place for a conference, but the rate was $170. I stayed literally a stones throw aways at the Alladin owned by the Holiday Inn. It was trendy, cool, and was only $95!
This place has good conference facilities, the food was good, and they made our meeting great. -

I stay here every year for the cvc convention. I don't think I'll be back and here's a few reasons why.
When I asked the women at the front desk where I could get change for a 20 she told me she's not a bank, try the bar or something. Okay...
We met our business partners in the lobby lounge, the only way the waitress could have been more rude was by dumping our beer on our laps.
I arrived back to my room after the show on Saturday at 5:30 pm. My room was not cleaned. In the 9 hours I was gone they couldn't turn down the room? I understand there are a lot of rooms. Hire more staff maybe? If I wanted to come back to my own mess I'd stay home. Call me crazy but for $120/night they can clean my room before 6 pm.
I ordered a burger from room service, took about an hour and was ice cold by the time it came. Barely edible, and the fries were even worse.
All in all, pretty shitty hotel stay. Will not be back and do not recommend. -

Awesome hotel!!!!
Very well lit at night from top to bottom in the front of the building. It almost looked like one of the joints in Vegas. Everyone was very friendly and helpful in helping us find stuff in the downtown area. The rooms were great with awesome views...not to mention they came equipped with big screen tvs in them.
They have a very good fitness center on the top floor which came in handy so I didnt have to break my workout routine while traveling on business. I forgot my shaving materials at home so I was able to go downstairs to their store to grab shaving cream and a razor...couldn't go to my meeting looking scruffy..lol. They also have a huge parking garage underground so make sure you validate.
Will definitely book this hotel the next time I have a client visit in KC -

I have to say I didn't pay for my room (long story short - I was there for the Big XII tourney) so I can only comment on the amenities. I've stayed at the Marriott three times and I haven't noticed a single thing that has changed for the better.
Pros:
- Beds are big and comfy
- Front desk got me a mini fridge when I asked for one
- Free cookies and lemon/orange water in the afternoons
- Free USA Today (tho this could be considered a Con)
- Within walking distance to Power & Light
- Everyone on staff was as friendly and helpful as can be. They always welcomed us into the hotel even late at night
Cons:
- NO FREE INTERNET!!!! This is my biggest grievance. As others have said, if you want access it's $10/day/device. I had to walk 2 blocks to Starbucks for free internet
- Front area is under construction so you either have to walk in next to the restaurant or around the corner
- Teeny little shop that was out of several basic things (I had to walk to Cosentino's 3 blocks away)
- TV had randomly limited channels (you get The Russian Channel but not MTV?)
- Pool was mysteriously closed
I will say that the hotel decor is really nice and the waterfall just off the lobby is stunning. I can see how this would be a nice place to host a wedding reception or special event. -

My husband and I came to the downtown Mariott in Jan 2011 for a friend's wedding. We had some very mixed reviews regarding our stay, so we wanted to break it down into good things and bad things. I should note that we were there during a constructions period, and our room was in the attached Tower.
Good:
The beds were large and comfortable.
Each bed had two pillows.
The lobby decor was beautiful and open.
All the hostesses except the one who checked us in were very friendly.
Bad:
The TV stand in our room was falling apart. There was a piece of it just sitting on top of the stand with tacks sticking out.
Neither of the doors of the TV stand were able to be closed, and one wouldn't stay in the 'open' position and so it swung back and forth where we needed to walk. We ended up attached it to the rest of the structure with a Band-aid I had in my purse.
The WIFI is $10 PER DAY. We stayed in a $70/night hotel on the way in that had free WIFI. This just seems like price-gouging to me!
The shower nozzle had to be turned many times around to find any sort of warm/hot water, and the temperature varied like crazy
There is NO parking during the construction - they normally have an attached parking garage but it is under construction. The woman who checked us in gave is the option of using their valet service for $18/day, and told us that the hotel didn't advise their guests to park on the street, then vaguely waved us to a parking structure. We finally found a parking garage not too far away for $12/day, but were not expecting to have to pay for parking.
The curtains over the windows only close about 2/3 of the way across the windows. Upon inspection, run for the heavy curtain didn't even extend all the way across the window, so there is no way to sleep in. There is a gauzy fabric covering the remainder of the window, but it doesn't block the light.
There is no complimentary breakfast - you can buy a danish in the lobby for $2.50.
Being in the city, it seems this Mariott is nickel-and-diming their customers anywhere they thought they could get away with it. We really liked the district, but would try to find a hotel with more amenities (WIFI, breakfast), next time. -

I stayed here for four nights for a conference in November. It is first and foremost a convention hotel.
As others have mentioned, the hotel rooms have been recently remodeled. The lobby remains trapped in the browns and the brass of the early 1980s and is a compete mismatch with the remainder of the hotel. The hotel itself is huge, consisting of two towers, the newer tower and the older, though remodeled, Muehelbach tower. A skybridge connects the two hotels.
I had a room in the newer tower and it was apparently one of the larger rooms in the hotel. The room was comfortable and since I was at the end of the hall, very quiet. The front desk staff was efficient and friendly and I ended up getting an additional 500 bonus points through Marriott for my stay.
The hotel is conveniently located next to the convention center and a few blocks from the Power and Light district. There are quite a few chain restaurants at Power and Light but nothing immediately around the hotel.
Since this is a convention hotel, there isn't much character. The Muehlbach tower was built in the 1920s and has a great 1920s lobby, but unfortunately, it's not being used and it serves little more than a forgotten basement. -

This Marriott has been recently updated, and everything is verrrrry nice! The room that I stayed in was clean, bright and very comfortable - especially the bed! I don't think I've slept that well since I was a baby!
The staff provides AMAZING service. I was less than pleased with the business center, which, I found out is outsourced through a foreign third party - so I don't recommend using it and to find a FedEx Office instead. However, the onside Audio Visual staff - Rick to be exact - when above and beyond to overcome the shortcomings of the business center and printed my presentation handouts from his personal office.
I give the Marriott two thumbs up - worth every penny! -

Everyone that helped us during our stay was super friendly and we felt very welcome. The hotel is in a prime location (in my opinion), as it took us only about 5 minutes to walk to the Power and Light District where there are A LOT of bars and restaurants. The wallpaper, carpet and furniture seem quite outdated, and the hotel looks fairly old, but overall we had a comfortable stay. Our room wasn't serviced after the 1st night - we did sleep in, but when we saw the room attendant and asked for extra towels, I guess we assumed she would service the dirty room as well, knowing that we were out for the day. Anyhow, not a big deal, the room was serviced as usual over the next 3 days. Parking is pretty expensive ($13 per day in the garage and $18 for valet). Both options offer in and out privileges. However, I believe that parking should be free for hotel guests. The light show on the outside of the hotel is really cool. I wish we could have seen more of it! I would definitely stay here again, so I guess that is all that really matters.

Easter brunch in the Pan Pan ballroom was awesome. So many selections; fresh fruit, salmon, pastries, various meats and dishes, salads, cheeses, omelets, kids buffet, cotton candy machine, Easter Bunny with chocolate eggs was nice enough to wait while we took pictures. It was great and we all loved it. Far more items than I've ever seen on a buffet.
We all loved the ice sculpture of the Easter egg. It was beautiful and made the buffet look so extra wonderful.
The staff was excellent. Our waiter was Jerry. The only downfall was it took 15 minutes to pay our bill because they had some system that included having the banquet captain shuttle the bill and payment around. I'd say nix that system because it's not a good one. -

As far as hotels go in general and Marriotts in particular, this one is perfectly fine. It has been remodeled in the past few years, but the decor is not contemporary. The lobby is scheduled for a full remodel in 2011 with the bar being replaced by a grab-and-go cafe and the lobby seating updated to be like the "great rooms" in other modern Marriotts.
Free wifi is available throughout the lobby, so the update will hopefully bring some much-needed life down there and replace that very dated 1980s cascading waterfall.
I have to admit the front desk staff is inconsistent. I have had great experiences and some where I felt I was interrupting the personal conversations. And, as a repeat customer here, I have visited enough that I am not basing that opinion on an isolated incident.
The rooms are standard to Marriott and some have a bit extra space with the mini sofa. That's a nice touch.
If you want to have a reliable hotel experience, you'll be fine here. If you want something distinctive, you won't find it -- maybe after the update. -

Beautiful rooms, beautiful service, beautiful lobby, beautiful beds, beautiful everything that I can think of. The only thing not beautiful, was my ugly mug in the morning!
I stayed here 4 nights, and every service personnel throughout every level of service, had great customer service. You won't even get this in the typical, pricey NYC hotels.
SO, WHAT MADE THIS HOTEL DIFFERENT?
The biggest difference between this hotel and the dozens of hotels I've been in so far, was the in-hotel gym. It's free to hotel guests and actually occupies the entire top floor.
This isn't your standard hotel exercise room. In any other location, it'd be a gym that you would have to pay a membership fee for.
Marriott's got:
- a fully stocked free weight room with plate-loaded machines
- very large cardio room with TV screens
- locker rooms
- a pool
Go to this hotel, sleep in the cushy, plush beds and workout in the gym. You'll need it for all the Kansas City BBQ you'll eat! -

Fabulous, comfortable bed and pillows. Really friendly, accommodating staff.
There was a huge, rollicking church convention going on, lots of celebration, but we were given a room well out of the way.
The room seemed pretty modern, nice marble in the bathroom. The internet worked. -

I stayed in this hotel last year, and I have to say, kudos to the Marriott on their remodel. It looks like a different hotel this year! New carpeting, new bedding, new furniture and window treatments in the rooms - a much needed refresher. They are working their way through each floor, so I think there are still some older rooms upstairs, but I had the good fortune to stay on a redecorated floor.
This is one of my two favorite Marriotts in the country (the other is in Seattle) because their bath products are Bath and Body Works Orange Ginger shampoo, conditioner, and lotion. So much better than the repackaged, hotel-branded bath products you see at some "upscale" hotels (I'm talking about you, Westin and Sheraton!).
Though this is an otherwise stellar Marriott, I'm subtracting a star because of the awful hotel restaurant, abysmal room service options, the poor excuse for a coffee shop, and the inexplicable lineup for the elevators - this is the strangest thing, but if you are staying in the hotel for a convention (or while lots of other people are there for a convention), expect to wait in a line fifty people long to catch an elevator at 5:00, or whenever everyone troops back over from the convention center. There are five elevators, but apparently the rush of everyone coming back at once is just too much to coordinate.
The hotel gym is pretty nice, and boasts a great top-floor view of Kansas City. It's big for a hotel gym and lots of equipment ensures you won't have to wait. Unfortunately, there are no classes offered.
Overall this is a great hotel. Can't beat it for proximity to the convention center, and the recent remodel makes it much more pleasant! -
Review from Brady H.
Mediocre Marriott, though its great that they continue to rennovate rooms. The place is massive and has rooms in the main building and in a building across the street accessed through a sky walkway.
The meeting facilities are decent.
Not much around the hotel - Kansas City has come A LONG way in the past few years, but it is still pretty desolate in downtown during the evening.
For the past few years, I've stayed here a few times each year.
On one stay outside my room was an unplugged mini fridge with a bunch of frozen beer cans. I called downstairs to report the find and the woman at the front desk seemed unimpressed. -

Fabulous hotel. It was convienient, clean, a wonderous bed.
I have wonderful memories of singing down at the hotel bar and diving face first into that pillowy cloud of goodness they call a bed. -

What am I doing in Missouri???
I have never had any inclination whatsoever to come to this place, and yet, here I am. Traveling for work is no fun, but if you have to do it, you should stay at a comfortable place. This hotel is really big, probably to accommodate the convention center right across the street. The dcor is a little dated, but neat, the rooms are large and well lit. The king size beds have pillow top mattresses, which, by the way, I have decided I need to get for my bed at home, and plenty of pillows to use or wrap your arms around. The shower has excellent water pressure, and the towels are decently soft and very clean. I also love the fact that the AC doesn't make nose when it turns on. There is nothing worse than being woken up every time the temperature needs to be adjusted. Turn down service keeps everything very neat, which is always good. The gym is really nice. Probably the nicest hotel gym I have experienced. There is a weight room and a cardio room. I also saw a sign that talked about a pool and tanning beds, though I didn't have the opportunity to check those out, I would have loved to take a peek. -

First the good: Staff was very friendly and all was very clean. But...
Everything else made this a very mediocre hotel and certainly not worth the price. Keep in mind that people pay a minimum of $150 per night. First, wifi was not free....$9.95 daily charge. We live in a day and age where it is becoming standard to offer free wifi. Come on Marriott, every Comfort Inn and cheap hotel does it! The pool and workout area was under renovation, very unremarkable and not user-friendly. The rooms were quaint and comfortable, but small and didn't have fridge or microwave. We were there as tourists and would have liked a way to save and reheat leftovers.
In retrospect, this hotel is probably focused for the business traveler, especially as the convention center is across the street. But, for tourists looking for a hotel with nice amenities, this wasn't it. Not worth the money for us. -
