Ok, so the stupid automated KP appointment reminder says to go to the Geary Medical Center, so I go to the Center, which I assume is on Divis and Geary. NO! Wrong! The 'Medical Center they mean is at Geary and 6th Avenue! Of course I should have known that. So I realize I'm in the wrong place and the front desk dude tells me to take the shuttle. ooooookkkkk. So the shuttle has no driver and is sitting in front of the hospital. So I wait. and wait. and. wait. No driver. My boyfriend finally comes to pick me up and get over to the right building where they tell me I am too late for my appointment and have to reschedule. I waited seriously a month for this. Grr.

First of all, love the sweet group pic Kristina R. put up. The kind folks that removed the huge mole off my back today are both in the 1963 B&W photo and amazingly enough were still smiling as I sat shirtless on the examining room table a few hours ago. Amazing how dermatologists seem to never age!
With two appointments down at this weird 6th ave Kaiser location, I hear ya Dana M. but I caught the shuttle, I'm quite happy with the level of service Dr. Zipperstein and crew provides. Maybe it's the satellitte office thing that makes the staff and atmosphere seem a little more relaxed versus the busy Geary street facility or maybe they give each other facials when it's not busy. Who know's? Anyway, I recommend this dermatology group for all your weird skin problemas.
To keep it real though...
- 1 Star because healthcare gets expensive, but maybe that's just my cheap ass government health plan. What happened to $5 copays and prescriptions?
Margaret Brown RN is the bomb. She is so good I dont have to see her anymore. I cant vouch for the rest of the staff because the admins drive me crazy, but once Margaret closes her office door I am in derm heaven.
Oh how I hate medication. More specifically, the side-effects of medication. And if you want to get really graphic (and I know you do, you sickos)...FULL BODY RASH. Charming.
I went to the dermatology department and begged for relief. I pleaded for some magic lotion that would take the gross red blotchy healamonster skin away.
All I got was a sympathetic nod and a suggestion: stop taking the medication. Fabulous.
Not very helpful, and pretty frustrating. Kaiser doesn't impress me very often with their services.
But I don't hold it against them...because after I get the lines in my face scraped off with a power sander at the dermatology department, I'm gonna head over to the main building for some "work."...and they're gonna lift my face so tight my eyes will meet in the back of my head.
I'm a teacher. It's required.

30+ years of life on the beach, a recent marriage, and wacky work schedule finally took a toll on my skin. I decided to take the plunge into the dermatology world. A faithful Kaiser employee, I decided to check out their cosmetic dermatology services, a little unknown pearl in San Francisco. Atmosphere: You have to realize this is Kaiser, not a spa, and therefore it was quite medical. In the waiting room, one could figure out that those around you were there for a little more than some acne scars. A little awkward, made me feel a little self conscious. Service: I got a free consultation from Cathy Hammond, an esthetician. She seemed a bit conservative, recommended GlySal 5/10 topical exfoliation pads (which I love) and some sunscreen to prevent the bad stuff. Not too impressed. Asked about procedures and she gave me a brochure on microdermabrasion.Round two: Went back after doing some research and decided to do a light AHA peel called GlyDerm. There were no strings attached. Made an appointment easily. No wait (was there within 24hrs). Paid $55 (not sure what the going rate is, but seemed cheap). Very matter of fact light chemical peel occurred, and I left within 15 minutes very glowing. Cathy was very nice. These folks make no commission so there was no hard selling going on. A week later I look pretty good. Got the results I wanted. Today I received a coupon for 15% off all products they sell, which include Skinceauticals, Obagi, DDF, Topix and others. Will return in the future.
