This place is pretty nice . . . nice pool, nice property in general, nice rooms . . . save for one thing. There's NO AC. If it wasn't for this sole fact I probably would have given Kaha Lani five stars.
It's a condo/time share so each unit is furnished according to the tastes of the owner. So as Judith mentioned, furniture varies depending on your unit. We actually had everything that we had in our own home, nice 30 inch TVs, lots of pool and beach stuff that we were able to use, washer and dryer, fridge, almost everything we needed, we had. I can't vouch for every unit, but the two twin single beds we had to sleep were not comfortable at all. They were almost as hard as plywood. A minor detail though as there were seven of us staying here.
Another good thing about Kaha Lani is that they can accommodate a fairly large party. We stayed in a three bedroom, two bath condo which fit us pretty well. In the master bedroom you had a queen size bed, in the second bedroom you had a full size bed, and in the third bedroom you had those two twins that I mentioned earlier. Each unit has a pretty nice deck to go out on and lounge on as well. This was very nice at night when you could relax outside in the cool night air.
The pool was nice as well. Not big, but not small either. It really dropped off though on the deep end as it went down to 8 feet. Also located at the pool area were two barbecue grills so that you can have a party outside if you wanted to.
The location of Kaha Lani is great as it's only a short 10 minute drive from the airport to the south and to Foodland or Safeway Supermarkets and other food places to the north. It's also practically in Lydgate Park which has nice play areas for kids and a decent to nice beach a little north of the complex.
My biggest gripe about this place though had to be the fact that we had no AC. This was what almost staying at this place impossible. The first night we arrived it was really hot and almost no breeze and we were sweating bullets. We actually had to go to Wal-Mart to buy a fan because the room fan wasn't enough. If you can't live without AC or even just want to return to a room that is cool, I really suggest that you find another place that is climate controlled.
One last thing that wasn't negative, but what I thought was odd was that the bathroom doors were closet like and weren't solid. Basically there were small wooden slats that ran all the up the door--which meant that the door wasn't totally solid and sound could easily slip between the door. To put it another way, if someone was having a conversation in the bedroom next to the bathroom or talking in the hall, you could hear them. Vise versa, if you were taking care of business, there would be no way of disguising it as people could hear you. The two times I had to "unload" I turned the shower on to disguise what I was doing.
Like I said, beautiful place to stay, nice area, good amenities, but no AC means I will probably not come back here again.
This is an individually owned condo complex, adjacent to the kid-friendly Lydgate Park on the west facing shore of Kauai. I've stayed here twice, in different units. On both occasions I enjoyed walking to & snorkeling in Lydgate and the conveniences of staying at a condo, especially with small children. But, warning: it is not a "lux" kinda place & furnitures, etc. vary with each unit. It is a quaint area and centrally located - easy to get to both Poipu & Princeville. LOVE KUAUI.
