My favorite dishes from this restaurant:
1) Kadu (Side Dish/Appetizer) - Sweet pumpkin with yogurt and meat sauce. These are to die for. You cannot come to this restaurant and not have this dish. You can eat these as a side or as an appetizer. Some even have these as dessert. Whatever you do, do not skip the Kadu!
2) Mantu (Entree) - These lamb dumplings were so delicious. The taste of lamb is rather subtle. Don't be afraid to order these even if you are not a lamb lover.
3) Firnee (Dessert) - Very refreshing milk pudding dessert with scent of rose. Smooth and rich but not too heavy.
Other than my 3 favorites, the kababs were also pretty good. I like their KABAB-E-CHUPAN and KABAB-E-GOUSFAND in particular. As you can tell, I really love lamb meat. You can totally ignore my review if you dislike lamb.
The service was good. Waitstaff were attentive and friendly. The ambience is modern and neat. Kabul is a good restaurant for both large and small groups. I would even recommend taking your date here for some authentic Afghan food.
My first time trying Afghan food. It's kinda like persian, and a bit like indian except not as spicy.
We had kadu, the pumpkin side dish with yogurt meat sauce...it was...interesting...can't say I'm a fan tho. My favorite was the beef and cauliflower "curry" dish...the chunks of lean beef were very tender...and it's not as loaded on spices as indian curry. The kabob/grilled dishes were ok...I think the salmon was my favorite. We also had bulanee, spring onion turnover for appetizer, it's my 2nd favorite. I really liked the yogurt and green sauce that came with the bulanee.
Their seasoned brown rice was very good also! Some people also ordered the GOUSH-E-FEEL, "elephant's ear" dessert...it just taste like the wonton strips they give you with your soup at chinese restaurants...nothing special...but I heard the FIRNEE, the milk pudding was pretty good.
Its really good here! The pumpkin dessert dish is like this warm pudding this that has a hint of sweet yogurt on top with some minced meat. The lamb kabob which was minced lamb meat came in two sausage log shape with the skewers removed. It was a bit dry but still very good.
There was this stew lamb dish with spinach on top that had some really awesome spinach and super tender lamb hidden underneath. I don't really have Afghan food so I have nothing to compare it to. I usually don't like this type of food but Kabul has totally changed my mind to the point where I would actually come here again with no objections.
Also... GREAT SERVICE Kabul staff! Very courteous indeed!
WHY DO YOU GUYS KEEP RECOMMENDING ME THINGS THAT AREN'T REALLY FOUR STARS?
Pumpkin dish was mediocre, nothing else really stood out. God damnit, guys.
This was the first restaurant I went to after moving to Silicon Valley in August. What a find! Delicious, unique, and a good value for your money. Great service. Omnivore & Vegetarian-friendly.
Great food and excellent service. The portion was huge and we walked away happy :) it was my first time trying Afghan food and I thought it was a bit like Indian/Mediterrian mix. Totally loved it! I would go back there again soon!
Kabul is one of my favorite restaurants in the bay area. The food is awesome and authentic (try the Kadu) while the service is exceptional. It is a cozy restaurant, perfect for romantic dates or dinner out with close friends.
I have eaten here many, many times and do not have a negative experience to speak of.
Give it a try!!
It's been a reliable Sunday evening dinner venue for our family for a few years now. I would say we go here about once every three months, assuming I am up to the Sunday drive down from San Francisco.
The quality of the food is consistently high. They cook the lamb and the beef perfectly, and I always end up eating much more than is comfortable. The default rice is a cinnamon rice, so be sure to specifically ask for white rice if cinnamon isn't your thing.
4 Stars
Came here for a bday dinner tonight......wasn't sure what I liked last time, I so jumped on the iphone yelp app and read my old review.
We started off w/ Bulanee Katchalu, Pakawra-e-Badenjan, and Pakawra-e-Katchalu. All three were very good.....but I could feel myself start to get filled up, so I had to stop at one piece of each.
Next was the salad.....it was ok, but like last time it was drenched in dressing.
For the main course, I ordered the Lawang, and someone else ordered the Korma Challaw and we decided to split it. Both were good, but I liked the Lawang a little better (probably because it had chicken instead of beef). I also tried the Qabili Pallaw, Kabab-e-Chopandaz, and Aush
the Aush was good....tasted a little like minestrone soup. the Chopandaz was very good.......the Qabili Pallaw, for me it was ehhh. Before u write it off though, u should know that Qabili Pallaw was my favorite Afghan food for a few years, and I had it so much that I'm probably just sick of it because of that.
Another good point that I should mention is the service. All servers had a great attitude and were really pleasant (including the lady that filled up the water for us....she was great!)
Now a few areas that need work:
- Had to ask for bread 3-4 times before it was brought out....we were actually sitting w/ our food in front of us for 5-10 minutes before the bread was brought out even though we requested it initially w/ our order
- One person's order was messed up and she had to wait for the correct order (although she didn't have to wait too long)
- There is a really long wait for the main courses to be brought out (if you're in a rush, stick w/ appetizers)
I can almost guarantee that we will be back next year, same day!

Lunch Review:
Kabul always serves great consistent food !! If you like lamb this is the place for you, the Steak and Fish are also very good. If you are a Vegi person, I would say they have dishes for you but tend not to be that great.
The standard lunch consists of Salad, Main course with a Side of Killer rice(pallaw) and flat bread. I always order the lamb kabobs which are always cooked perfectly.
Over all great place for a filling lunch and good food
+/- signs represent intensity of positive/negative sentiment
++++ large selection of authentic afghan dishes, ranging from kabobs to stews to various other sauce-soaked entrees, each more ridiculously appetizing than the next. vegetarian options available.
+++ ridiculous portions--everything comes with MOUNDS of rice, unlimited sides of warm bread, plus a salad to keep you busy while everything else is cooking. you can milk 3-4 meals out of an entree, pretty much.
+++ did i mention unlimited sides of warm bread? mmm, free bread...
++ prompt, unfailingly polite service. one waiter checked back 3 separate times, just to see if we were ready to order.
++ surprisingly elegant & spacious interior, w/ a distinctively afghan decor.
+ adequate selection of wines.
-- food takes a while to arrive.
- some entrees are inexplicably slightly more expensive for dinner than for lunch, question mark.
- el camino location next to unfeliciously named, quasi-ghetto "winmart." all fairness, there's ample parking available all around the restaurant.
summary: couple of niggling details aside, kabul blasts you with pure unadulterated afghan awesomeness from the moment you step in. everything from deliciousness quotient to value to service is more than you'd expect, & them some. bring yourself & a few friends & you'll end up returning again & again. better still: order take-out whenever in the mood for a reward: it's affordable, yumtastic & significantly healthier than any fast food alternatives.
Everything I have had has been tasty. Service is fabulous as well.
After a long weekend working at the office, a few of us were tossing around ideas of what to do for dinner. Being in downtown Palo Alto lends a multitude of options, but frankly the upscale restaurant vibe can get tired after a while. So, after an arduous Yelp search, we came across Kabul. And it was open on a Sunday night.
I had the Qabili Pallaw, described on the menu as "Delicately seasoned lamb under a mound of pallaw, topped with carrot stripes and raisins." It was absolutely delicious, however a bit sweet from the raisins. It had the standard array of middle-eastern spices, not too overbearing and not too bland. The lamb was tender and succulent, and could be pulled apart easily with a fork. At first, I thought it was just a giant mound of rice, but some digging around found a good portion of meat beneath.
Service was a bit slow, but not horrendous and a bit expected seeing as the entire restaurant was full (at 8pm on a Sunday). I washed everything down with the Afghan Tea, which was essentially black tea. Nothing spectacular, but it was good.
All in all, a good experience and I will definitely be returning.
There has to be something said about a place that you walk into, and want to order whatever it is that you can smell as you walk to the table. Kabul was a small, yet nicely decorated, with a wonderful aroma.
I had the lamb kabobs, and my friend had the ground beef skewers. The beef was tender and extremely flavorful. I had a taste of my friends ground beef and although it was deeply spiced, it also was very good eats. Being my first taste of of this food type, I was a bit skeptical of how heavy the tastes and meal would be especially for lunch. This was an absolutely delightful lunch and am now very depressed at how far away my home is from it.
I'll definitely have to go back and not only try out the dinner sometime, but also to explore the other dishes.
I came here for lunch and ordered the lamb kabob dish, basically it's a pretty good size of skewer of marinated lamb cubes served with flavored rice and a strip of bread (see photos). I thought the it was pretty good all around. For the first time, I was asked how well done the meat to cook to. I've always been served with well done kabob , and it's quite common for the meat to be slightly overcooked and a bit dry. I requested medium done, and it was great. Loved the juiciness and the flavor. The rice was quite exceptional, slightly flavored with spices that I can't describe, yet not too overpowering like some other southeast Asian rice dishes. The bread was also good, crispy on the outside and tender and chewy in the inside. Good portion that I can take some back for dinner. Definitely a place to revisit and to check out their other items.
Kabab!! Lamb Kabab ($16.95)
Afghan deliciousness
But so many choices
UuhhhLOT (a lot) of food!!
Luckily I had room for rosewater ice cream ($3.95)!!
KABAB E-GOUSFAND: lamb marinated, charbroiled on a long swords/knives/skewers with pallaw (seasoned rice) served with salad and afghan bread ($16.95)
KABUL'S COMBINATION KABAB: truly the "best of both world's"... lamb or beef, and chicken skewers; and pallaw, salad, and afghan bread!! ALL were yum!! ($15.95)
AFGHANI ICE CREAM: cardamom, rosewater flavored ice cream topped with pistachios ($3.95) Two scoops of ice cream! The rosewater flavor was quite mild and delightful to eat! So yummy and refreshing! :D
The restaurant is next door to Jack In The Box. One can easily miss it while driving eastward on El Camino. This is a nice sit down restaurant with interior decor and soothing music to complement the ethnic cuisine! The servers were super quick and helpful! My dinner entree lasted me 4 meals! That's how much food there was! ahahaha :P
Overview: Afghani restaurant.
Kabul is my favorite Afghani restaurant. My favorites are the stews. They are all excellent. The only issue is that the stews are all vegetarian but I like some meat with every meal. No problem, I order an extra portion of lamb and add it to my stew. So delicious and so much better than other Afghani restaurants where you just order a meat kabob and a giant place of rice.
If I could give just the pumpkin four stars, I would!
We dropped in for a birthday-dinner while visiting (we're relocating to the area for work and were on a house-hunting trip) from Seattle. We have a Kabul Restaurant of no relation in Seattle and it's fabulous, I'm glad these guys don't tarnish the name.
I ordered the vegetarian platter - curried spinach, pumpkin in yoghurt and spices and a cauliflower curry. All of it was tasty, but man was that pumpkin fantastic. If I go again, I might just order that.
The waiter only appeared twice - once to take our order and once to drop off the check. However, the bus staff was fantastic about keeping our glasses full - with a great sense of humor.
Sadly, I didn't get to try the firni because one of our table companions turned away dessert before I could say anything (seriously - who doesn't ask the pregnant lady at the table if she wants dessert?).
Looks like others have raved about the meat-dishes but it's good to know that the non-meat-eaters have a really tasty option here. So why three stars if it was tasty? Well, the waiter didn't speak loudly enough that I could hear him - I had to order through someone at the end of the table. He only appeared twice. He let one person turn away dessert for the whole table. The staff was fairly short and surly with other customers, where I could overhear them (but I couldn't hear them at my own table).
Just had a family dinner there, and realized I probably went there for the first time about 20 years ago. I eat there once/twice per year, and the food has been consistently OK all these years. Not special enough to deserve 4+ stars, but it's good, specially their lamb dishes.
The service seems to have deteriorated a bit. I always thought they were quite attentive, but the experience today was not as nice as before. Maybe they are understaffed for a weekend, or maybe the waiters are not as professional as the ones they had before. An Ok experience overall.
I loved dining at Kabul.
First of all, it was a great value. I went with two friends, and we ordered three, large entrees to share, a side of rice, plus dessert, and the bill came out to $42 after tax.
Secondly, the food was incredibly delicious. We ordered the Mantu (lamb dumplings), "Chef's Platter" (a combination of three different appetizers), and the vegetarian platter (a combination of three vegetarian entrees). Just about everything we tasted required a moment of not-so-silent appreciation of its deliciousness.
The only thing that I found to be a bit disappointing was the service. Don't get me wrong - the servers were attentive and we never wanted anything for an inappropriate amount of time. It's just that it was our first time eating Afghan food, after asking a couple of different servers, we received some lackluster responses. No one was able to help inform our decision whatsoever, so we just took a chance (and luckily, it worked out well).
But, to end on a positive note, the food was stunning in its value and quality, and I would (and have already begun to) recommend Kabul to anyone willing to make the trip to Sunnyvale! It's a definite "must".
In summary: Delicious food. Service sucks.
Nothing says pleasurable eating like skewered meat and this place does it well. Being relatively inexperienced with Afghan food, I decided to order something familiar for dessert. The baklava was sweeter than others I've tried, but enjoyable.
Now to the service...The waiter who brought my plate did it so quickly he literally plopped it on the table and in the process burned my hand. CAUTION: plates are hot. No warning from the waiters and no apology and no sympathy. And no ice! They were moving so fast, it was another 20 minutes before I could get someone to bring me ice. The scar on my hand could have been from something sexier like ice-climbing, but instead it's from a careless waiter with a hot plate of kabab.
Really tasty food, big portions, and reasonably priced! Its hidden in a crappy strip mall, but the inside is very well adorned. It has an upscale atmosphere (nice curtains, the waiters dress up, etc), but the clientele are generally dressed pretty casual - I came in shorts and a t shirt and had no issue.
GET THE KADU!!! - pumpkin + yogurt + meat sauce = delicious.
The kabobs are good, and I really liked the Mantu (lamb dumplings). My friend who went with me is a vegetarian and he got the vegetarian platter and was very happy with it. Neither of us could finish the food we got - like I said its definitely a good value when the food is great and you get lunch included for the next day.
Solid.
Been here many times and have never had a bad experience (though others certainly have it sounds like). The food's always been *very* delicious - moist, seasoned kabobs and wonderful appetizers - the service good, the facilities clean, and the ambiance very pleasant.
DELISH.
The kebabs were amazing. I normally don't like chicken, but I could eat Kabul's moist, juicy chicken kebabs for days. All beef and lamb, as kebabs or in other dishes, are so so tender.
The homemade baklava was the best I've ever had.
Shout out to Eddie- thanks for hooking it up!
This place was delicious! This is the first time I have really enjoyed a restaurant's Kabab. I went here with my parents and my boyfriend and we enjoyed It a lot. I wouldn't eat Lamb but my parents said the Lamb kabab was delicious. I ordered a Beef Kabab and I love how the meat was soft. The marination was also good. I enjoyed the bread that came with our meal and the green sauce that my Dad asked for. I don't know what it was called but it was really spicy. Portions were large and i was stuffed that night. Our server was really nice and comforting.
At the end of the meal I ordered a Baklava for dessert. I really enjoyed it, but it was too sweet for me to handle after a while. This was the first time I tried Afghan food and I do recommend people trying this place for the Lamb, if not you can always go for beef, pork, or chicken kabab.
Cheers!
Getting down to why 3 and not 5.
I get here with my date at around 830 pm. The restaurant closes at 10 PM and at 915 PM, the staff were 1 inch close to shoving us out of the door.
"Are you still working on your food" asks the Hispanic waiter who sees me chewing on my beef and potato combination.
"Do want to order any more from the menu?" when our plates were obviously still half-eaten.
"Do you want to order dessert?"
And there were like 6-9 tables empty when these people started surrounding us seemingly taunting us to leave already.
It was a Friday night, for the Afghan god's sake!
Anyway, the food was good. It was my first time to eat Afghan and it was a pleasure to my mouth.
If the staff were only more sensitive, I'd have the prefect experience here.
Peace y'all.
This place is fantastic. Its a really nice atmosphere and the food is fresh and tasty. The portions are huge for a really good price.
What more can you ask for?
I am a huge fan of Afghan cuisine and well, this place is as good as it gets for Afghan cuisine.
The place serves up some killer kebabs with some awesome Afghan rice on the side. The beef is good, the chicken is awesome, and the lamb is out of this world.
No seriously, this place knows how to serve up some lamb. It's fresh, juicy, a little crispy on the outside with a hot pink center. You cannot visit this place without at least trying the lamb once. Well, unless you happen to be a vegetarian. In that case, you should be more open minded like me and consume meat and vegetables.
Kidding. Well, sort of.
Anyway, if you are new to Kabul or Afghan cuisine and do not know what to order for an appetizer, I highly suggest you order the chef's platter. It's in the entrees section of the menu and for about $10 you get to try 3 tasty appetizers, of which the fried eggplant is my favorite.
I have also tried their seafood platter which serves up some excellent smoked Salmon and huge delicious prawns. I highly recommend this dish to seafood lovers.
But I reiterate, you have try the lamb at least once. It is pretty much their specialty.
The owner hoped that I would come back again soon and I responded in the words of the poorly written novel that takes place in Afghanistan, The Kite Runner:
"For Kabul, a thousand times over."
If Alexander's Steakhouse is worthy of food-based erotica, then Kabul's Afghan Cuisine is pure spiritual enlightenment.
Between murmurs of "Oh my God" and "Christ-Yes" I actually managed to eat the most glorious lamb and rice meal of my life. In the process, I might have offended a few people. (...and I apologize, but if you were eating what I was eating, I know that you know that I know that you feel the same way too...).
I like my red meat in a very particular way and not a lot of places are able to cook it like this: black and crispy along the outside edges and red in the middle. Now ask me how Kabul prepared their Kebab-e-chupan (lamb steak)...
Go ahead, ask me...
...The lamb steak was cooked to God-like perfection. (Insert gasp of sacrilegious offense.) To further that offense, the literal translation of Kebab-e-chupan is "the shepherd's kebab," a translation that implies, not that Jesus would make a great kebab, but that the shepherd knows how to prepare the best lamb.
My Afghan friend calls Kabul the "Most Authentic Afghan Cuisine in the South Bay." And there's nothing more authentic than offering nearly 17 dishes of finely prepared lamb. I was also fortunate enough to sample their Lawang, which was a fabulous chicken and rice dish with a mushroom sauce reminiscent of Italian food, only much healthier. For appetizer, we shared Pkwra-e-badenjan, fried eggplant; which, for a deep-friend dish was actually so good, I couldn't feel guilty.
Delicious!! I feel like it's one of those restaurants that not all your friends may have tried and you feel a bit proud for being able to recommend it. It's really good food, a lot of food, and the restaurant was packed so that's always a good sign.
We ordered the KABAB-E-GOUSFAND (marinated lamb cube kabab) and it was so tender and flavorful! The Pallow (flavored rice) was tasty too. We also got the Chef's Appetizer Sampler and it came with 3 different appetizers. All of them were really tasty and it made a good meal.
Writing this review makes me want to go back again tonight... mmm yumminess. Definitely should try!
Dinner here was a good experience. We started with salads and the dumplings for appetizers. The dumplings were the standouts of the evening. So delicious little stuffed meat pockets with a yogurt, pumpkin and potato topping.
We moved on to the combo mixed grill for the entree. It was delicious and I recommend adding some of their hot sauce to the meat. However, beware, because this stuff is HOT and when I say something is HOT it is usually beyond hot for the masses.
We drank the traditional yogurt drink and although it tasted decent, it was a mistake. It filled me up and ended up tasting like the salad dressing on my salad by the third sip. Interesting at first, but once the allure of it faded then it was too much.
Although there is a restaurant of the same name in San Carlos the two are not related. This one is owned by the brother of the other owner and they separated into two businesses due to "family issues."
If someone would have told me that I would one day count pumpkin and rice as one of my favorite foods, I would have laughed until my face turned blue. Ok, well, it might not have been that funny, but still, it would have seemed pretty outrageous. The challaw kadu (pumpkin) can be had as an entrée or side dish - either way, you've gotta have it. The kabobs are also consistently good.
I've been eating at Kabul for years, and can highly recommend it. My only complaint is that they are not open on Saturday or Sunday for lunch. I've forgotten that fact several times and been disappointed when I showed up their doorstep only to find they were closed.
What can I say after 100+ review.
Great food. I ate the Pumpkin yogurt side dish (must have) and the spinach side dish ( I love). My husband and the lamb meat with tomato sauce and rick (decent).
Did I mention I like the pumpkin?
Great casual dining place to stop in. Seems like family owned-typed of restaurant, very nice people.
If I could give 2.5 stars, that would be about right. Four of us came for dinner to celebrate a birthday.
The food was outstanding. Portions are generous. We had lamb kabobs that were excellent. So was the side of pumpkin, and an entree of Mantu. Just delish. The only complaint about the food was that the salad was overdressed, and swimming in dressing. I'd request the dressing on the side next time.
The service was HORRIBLE. Gone are the professional waiters. Instead, we have waiters who reach all the way across the table to refill water glasses. TWICE. (Too lazy to walk around the small square table?) We have waiters who ask if you're done, while you are still putting food in your mouth with your fork. We have waiters who ask if you want a to go box, while everyone at the table is still eating. We have waiters who stand next to your table, picking their teeth with their fingers, and talking on their cell phones.
Did we catch the "B-team" of servers? The restaurant wasn't full, so maybe they were bored. But the service put a damper on our dinner because it was annoying and intrusive.
I still enjoyed the food. But maybe it's time to put this on my "to-go only" list.
I first came to this restaurant years ago, before Yelp had even started. It was amazing and mind blowing and unique and just perfect. Then I moved away, and back, and completely forgot that it existed. I went again last night for the first time in years at a friends' request, and I'm glad I reacquainted myself.
Our evening started out quite rocky. We had reservations for a large group, and I'm not sure why, but they had seated another party smack in the middle of where our long table was supposed to be. We were finally seated more than 30 minutes after our reservation time (the restaurant was about 2/3 full at the time) after hovering over the other diners who were lolling around gabbing like there weren't 20 people waiting to eat them. The wait staff did not handle this situation gracefully for those of us who were totally hungry.
While the food at Kabul is excellent, I would be hesitant to come back with a large group again. The service is below sub-par; it is downright rude, unprofessional, and intrusive. They definitely need to train their staff better, and adopt a more service-oriented attitude. That's the minus one star.
Again: FOOD IS AMAZING. Eat anything. The gulti (?) cauliflower is delicious; the kebabs are juicy and moist and perfectly grilled; the pumpkin with yogurt sauce is as good as a last meal.
Despite the service, this is not to be missed.
Beware the Dough!
Ok, so when i go to a new restaurant i like to try something that i can't get anywhere else. I also like to ask "what is the most flavorful thing served here".
The guy that seated us wasn't much able to tell me the most flavorful thing and instead fell back on the "It's all good" and then suggested a sampler.
Looking over the menu i found a "Traditional Afghan drink" called Dough, and it had a description of what it was (cucumber, yogurt, salt, dried mint, and maybe some other stuff), and that fit perfectly into my "what i can't get elsewhere" category.
When this stuff came out it looked like a watered down salad dressing, and pretty much tasted like a watered down salad dressing. i dipped a piece of my salad into it to compare it with the dressing that was on my salad and they were very very similar. I thought i was the only person that would drink this thing but looking around i saw more than a handful on tables throughout the restaurant, think of it as a V8 blanc.
The sampler came out and was accompanied by this green stuff, that wasn't really explained, but was very hot. (which is fine- i like spicy, just don't know what it was to explain in.)
I'd give a 3.5 star if i could, but sadly I can't. I liked this place, the sampler wasn't bad, but wasn't so great that i'm moving to Afghanistan tomorrow, and i didn't eat the left-overs. the service was good, the food was tasty / interesting, but that drink was... ugh. I tried to finish it, i really did, but i think if i had, i'd have had to vomit on the floor, and that wasn't a scene i wanted to make this evening.
If you're into yogurt, I suggest you try this place. Went with a friend and we ordered the chef's platter (3 kinds of appetizers) and the pumpkin Kaba. Yum and yum. The pumpkin was sweet and steamed with a yogurt sauce poured over it and a meat sauce on top of that. Great juxtaposition. The appetizer plate was also great (find it in the entree section), it let us try 3 different things without over ordering. There was fried eggplant, a fried samosa and a ravioli-style dumplings covered in the meat sauce. All and all, a fabulous meal. There's always tons of people in here, so you know the food is good.
Also, the waiters were very attentive with the water. I felt that the service really great for the price.
Food is ok, people are ok, everything is ok!
Kabul - one of the jems of SunnyMale!
I give this place a solid 4 kabob rating. Kels and I found this place because 1) Yelp is fucking awesome and 2) Good business owners like Kirk @ A Slice Of New York recommend other kickass local businesses. Yeah, i'm swearing in my Yelp reviews now...you got a f'in problem with that?
Anyway, we really did have an enjoyable experience at Kabul amongst the throngs of W.O.W. players (no raids last night guys?) We ended up splitting one of the Kabob plates which was lamb and chicken, it was fantastic. The meats were perfectly seasoned and cooked, could not have been better. The jewels of the meal were the appetizers - Mantu (dumplings) were amazing, and the one dish that I think every Yelp review mentions, Kadu. You would never think that sauteed Pumpkin, yogurt and ground beef go together but what the shit, it does! Amazing.
Ladies and Gentlemen, we'll be back.
Been here a bunch of times, and I nearly always get the same thing - Kabuli Pallaw. I am wont to get dishes overflowing with spice and sauce, but this dish has nestled itself into my rotation despite it's lack of usual qualifications. If I were to rate Kabul just on that dish, it would be 5 stars. Other dishes range from decent to good.
Nice owner and staff.
Really good tea.
