Unfortunately it has shutdown. It had really good vijaywada biryani.
The place is now replaced with two new restaurants; Ananda Bhavan (veg) and Biryani Hut (fast food combo style, and biryanis).Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Promit B.San Jose, CA252016Jul 5, 2016Updated review
We have been frequenting the restaurant since the last 3 months ans have been pretty happy with the food. The kothu paratha, the biryani either chicken or mutton is good. The service is not stellar but overall is attentive.
What forces me to give a 1 star review is the experience from yesterday 07/04.
We called the resturant at abt 7pm on phone if they were accepted resturants.com voucher. They confirmed they did and assuming that we drove out.
While ordering we let the waiter know we had the restaurants.com voucher so he wouldnt be surprised during the billing. Now whem the bill came and we tried to pay with the voucher the manager tells us thst they have been not accepting such vouchers for last 4 months and shows me a small note on his desk. I ask him about the phone call to confirm and he went ahead and checked and told me nonone confirmed this. I had the phone call on my phone logs and while he confirms it is his number he says its a mistake. Whose mistake ? Whose messed up? We gladly paid the full bill just to get out of there.
Th good food just left a bitter after taste due to the exprience. You say you dont accept resturant.com vouchers i understand, but why couldnt you communicate it correctly? Someone messed up and probably confirmed to us on the phone without checking and hence you cannot honor the price i understand. But balantly lie and blame the customer i simply dont. And hence my one star review and decision to never go back here. There are a whole lot of better options in south bay for indian food.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Apr 30, 2016Previous reviewGood food as long as you like it on the spicer side.
Not very sure on the authencity of it but the chicken kottu was excellent and so was the mutton varuval - Arvind R.Tracy, CA1271621068Feb 28, 2016
Few important information:
1: It's a Telugu people run Tamil cuisine "named" restaurant, authenticity is thrown out of the window.
2: Typical desi attitude of ignoring customer request when polite and giving in only when a bit of attitude is shown.
3: Luckily they do accept Amex.
4: Prices are 1-2$ above average for below average food.
5: Restaurant looks ok but floor, tables and other seating area are dirty as it can get.
Food review:
Ceylon parotta - Really good tasting version of a regular bread price is 5$, one is enough for two average people, gets served piping hot obviously gets 4 stars.
Chicken kotthu parotta - Taste is ok but quantity is too less for 11$ gets served with raita and an oily kurma gets 3 stars.
Chicken 65 - Looks and tastes like chicken pakora , way too oily and they use more of baking soda to make it fluffy definitely not worth a try probably just 1 star.
Mutton bone Soup - 0 Star EPIC FAIL.
Mutton Sukka Masala - it's a generic mutton curry nothing special nothing bad, it's something that you can make at home without any special preparation gets 2.5 stars.
Korigassi Chicken - Don't be confused by this atrocious naming convention it's simply chicken in coconut milk but tasted good so 4 stars.
Service review : The servers were very good probably college going educated kids understanding the importance of customer service, but the MANAGER or OWNER a lady in shalwar was plain PATHETIC acting as if she's doing a favor by having customers in the store.
Conclusion : Overall food is 2.5 stars considering we did experience some stomach problems later on, management is pathetic, price is on the Higher side & 0.5 star more for the hard working server boys.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Ramyaa R.San Jose, CA1522701559Dec 8, 2015First to Review
Kaaraikudi Indian Restaurant is the most recent addition to the bay area's authentic Indian dine-ins, located at the heart of Milpitas on what was then called the Alviso-Milpitas Road, which is now called Serra Way!
I visited the spot on it's opening day Dec 5th in the evening with the hubby just to grab a light appetizer, seeing the sign "Grand Opening". We were initially surprised to notice the change that the previous Indian Restaurant (Chettinadu Palace) at the very same address is closed now and this new one is already up in a jiffy from nowhere.
We had a warm welcome by the crew and was offered a complimentary sweet 'Payasam' (Indian name) or Vermicelli kheer right after we were seated. It tasted good with just the right sweetness (not too sweet sweet). This place has got bit of everything on their menu, from Vegetarian delights to Chicken/ Mutton/ Sea food specialities.
Our Vegetarian picks,
# Appetizer, Gobi 65 ($8) - Not too big serving size and tasted crispy, spicy and flavorful.
# Kothu Parotta's, Egg Kothu Parotta ($11) - Adequate portion size and tasted YUM! & spicy, served with 2 extra sides (small serving size), vegetable korma and raita.
My hubby then went ahead ordering for a cup of Coffee ($2) from their hot beverage - Good (his words).
Quick facts about the spot,
- Appreciable service from the staff, all our items were served Hot & Fresh and we din't wait too long either.
- Large seating area, can easily accommodate big groups, may be even up to 16 to 20.
- Decent ambience, neat outlook.
- Located at the corner of Serra way intersection (just before Calaveras blvd intersection).
- Private parking lot can be found at the back of the restaurant.
We just paid half of our entire bill, 50% discount on the bill total was offered to all the customers on the 1st day (gleeful chuckle).
Feel like I gotta try more! We'l be happy to visit again sometime in the future!Helpful 9Thanks 0Love this 6Oh no 0 - Rakesh R.Sunnyvale, CA385430Jan 10, 2016
Tried this place since it was a new one and close to my work. I think this might be owned by the same people who owned "Chettinad Palace" which was right in this place before. Went on a Friday afternoon, no buffet though surprisingly.
This is a Tamil (one of the south Indian states) restaurant, and the food is typical Tamil like. I am not an expert on Tamil food so can't really comment much on the authenticity, so my review will be on general quality.
For people who want Hyderabadi biryani, don't eat biryani here.
They gave us a complimentary dosa which tasted good but was floating on a layer of oil. I was about to order an egg dosa but then had to change my mind.
We ordered the combos (see my pictures). I didn't like the biryani since I am a hyderabadi, but if you like Tamil biryanis ignore this line.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Preeti J.San Jose, CA2157236May 30, 2016Updated review
A spicy, flavorful treat for food lovers! A South Indian food joint which serves the Chettinad cuisine and has Vegetarian and non-vegetarian thali and ala-carte foods.
The dosa roast and appams tasted well,so did the veg Briyani. The parothas though were slightly disappointing to the palette.
Sad were both tea and coffee, absolutely unappealing to the tongue. Mango lassi was good though.
The hygiene requires attention.
Service definitely can be improved.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Apr 10, 2016Previous reviewA spicy, flavorful treat for food lovers! A South Indian food joint which serves the Chettinad cuisine and has Vegetarian and non-vegetarian thali and ala-carte foods.

One of the very few Indian restaurants where food taste is not americanised....food is pretty spicy same as Indian street food finds!!! Kothu paraatas, mutton sukka, and pepper chicken r Must TRy..food is spicy, so they will customise the dishes if u need mild..... Hope the mgmt team maintains quality overall n wishing them gud luck!!!!

So spicy and so good! I went from dizzy, to nauseous, to slightly deaf eating the fiery hot dishes, but I would still go back. I love spicy food, but turns out I can't handle a lot of it.
It's been a few weeks since my husband brought me here, but I'm already craving for more!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
