K-5 has been around for-like-ever! I remember back in the day (which was a Wednesday, btw) when they were in the small shop next to DQ off Encinitas Boulevard.

Anyways, besides being an Encinitas icon (after Encinitas Surfboards & Hansens), K-5 has a large selection of everything ... I found a lot of snowboarding gear in there this past season that I couldn't find at other places and even had hard time finding online. Of course, with their massive selection, come their massive prices. There's really no deal in shopping there, everything is at the full MSRP and every now and then is there a sale and their sale prices barely make it any more reasonable.

If it weren't for their staff, I wouldn't bother returning to K-5. Their entire staff is hella friendly and the managers have always treated me well (they gave me a price adjustment on a few items weeks later and it was on items they weren't supposed to). The guys who ran the snowboard repair and rental area also hooked me up when I had a new pair of boots (that I purchased elsewhere) and helped me warm up the liners, mold and break them in. All of those things have kept me going back to K-5 even when I know I can save a buck or two elsewhere, but I prefer the treatment I get here =)

Pretty cool, but nothing out of the ordinary.   Just your standard skate-surf-snow shop.  They do have a lot of clothing.  Definitely worth a stop in if you're looking for something particular, but don't expect anything super extra awesome.
