Neighborhood: Grant ParkOnce you get over the postage-stamp sized parking lot, there's a lot to enjoy about Just Loaf'n. New Orleans french bread, crispy seafood and the fixins all come together for a great po'boy (wholes and halfs are available). Their sides (dirty rice and red beans and rice - two of my faves) are a great kicker to your meal, and one is included with a whole po'boy. You can finish things off with a New Orleans soda and/or a bread pudding. Although it's not fine dining, it's by no means a fast-food restaurant - so if you're in a hurry, call in your order ahead of time. Either way, it's definitely worth the wait.
Don't let the "loaf" in "Just Loaf'n" fool you. The fine folks behind the preparation of this food don't loaf around.
During my visit, I had a fully dressed, 6-inch po'boy and it was deeeelish. Included in my gorging was an order of flavorfully seasoned fries. Considering the low price and deliciousness, this place is off da chain!
I also sampled my sister's Dreamsicle Sno Ball--big and saturated with enough flavor. (I hate it when cheap snow cone servers don't pour on adequate liquid.)
Topping off my experience was the pleasant cashier, smiling and ready to serve. When I verified with her that I wanted my po' boy fully dressed, as opposed to my sister's request for no mayo, she said, "I gotcha, baby!"

Ice cream was so like 2 months ago! What's in is New Orleans Sno Balls and this is definitely the place to get them!
As Leslie embraces the Asian stereotype of bad driving, we spent a good 15 min trying to look for a parking space to get some dinner at Mi Barrio. As she "accidentally " enters Just Loaf'n I told her if she doesn't buy me a sno ball, I will just die from hunger if we have to spend another 15 min looking for a parking spot. Seriously, I should have won an Academy Award with that line and dramatic interpretation!
Anyways, the Sno Balls were the BEST and were so yummy. I believe there were over 36 flavors to choose from (take that Baskin Robbins) and I'm sure you could have it the traditional way with the sweetened condensed milk. Leslie got the Lemon Lime which was pretty tart and I of course got Cotton Candy. We both agreed mine was much better with its sweet and sugary goodness! Next time we will have to try the food, but thank you Just Loaf'n for being my new summer hang out!

More like 3.5 due to the value.
The Good
Great Shrimp Po'Boy - certainly the best you will find in the Atlanta area (not that shrimp po' boys are in abundance here). Please, no special ordering - dressed is the way to go.
Price - A large sandwich with a choice of side is easily enough for two and less than ten bucks.
Service Attitude - The folks that work here are very nice and seem appreciative of your business.
The Not-So-Good
The side items are generally ok, but are made well in advance - scooped into a bowl - then microwaved. Hence, dried out beans and rice can be commonplace. For some reason, even that simple process (scoop, nuke, serve) can take quite a long time.
They are SLOW - really slow. Even if you are the only person in line, getting your food may take a while. The drive thru window serves no purpose whatsoever - unless you just enjoy sitting in your car waiting for a 15 minute sandwich assembly. Calling ahead doesn't really seem to work either.
Verdict
Go when you are not in a hurry, keep most of your money in your pocket, and enjoy a shrimp po' boy. Besides, if your job pays you with an actual paper check - you can stop next door and get it cashed.

Don't drive by, COME ON IN. Thank God that Just Loaf'n is in Atlanta. BEST SHRIMP PO BOY PERIOD. Why? because it's AUTHENTIC. The po boys make you want to haul off and slap somebody they're so good. For the novices make sure you order it dressed. Dressed is the same thing as "with all the fixin's".
Don't get all excited thinking that because they have a drive thru it's fast food. Uhh no. You're going to wait because this food is cooked to order. But I tell you....it is SOOO worth the wait.
And people I need everyone to just hush for a minute because I need silence to tell you that they SERVE SNO BALLS WITH SWEETENED CONDENSED MILK. For those of you who actually KNOW New ORLEANS cuisine you know that this is what we look for. ONLY A LEGITIMATE PLACE would serve the balls with an extra bit of cream.
The exterior of the building looks a little clownish with the green, purple and yellow. No they don't sell signs or balloons or anything else that the colors might conjure in your brain. No, this is just the place you go when you want something that will hit the mark, each and every time.

this is a great addition to the Cabbagetown area! authentic New Orleans Po'Boys and fried seafood platters (cooked to order), with gumbo and red beans & rice options as well.
unlike the Stockbridge location, this is a pretty small place with limited seating and tight parking, but the food keeps a steady stream of customers who don't mind. (don't be surprised to see a fire truck parked outside...getting lunch/dinner for the firehouse down the street)
it's been the only business that's surviving in a "less than convenient" location on Boulevard Ave, between Memorial Drive and I-20 which speaks to how good the food is, but don't be in a hurry!
