Debbie and Jim rock! I love this tiny little store on FarWest because they very super friendly and I am a sucker for moms-n-pops businesses.

The store has a lot of specialty toys, accessories, snacks and food to choose from. My dog loves everything I bought from this place. Jim and Debbie even explained the nutrition needed for my little 4 pound Rocco. They also gave me some dog food sample.

Cuz I don't feed my dogs sawdust with flavorings...... my babies get only the very best food.  Just for Pets is a very proud supporter of Keep Austin Dog Friendly and is also active in the dog community.  They are well-connected with local rescue groups which is greatly appreciated.

Not only does Jim carry cute dog supplies, he also keeps up to date with the best foods and is very knowledgeable about proper nutrition.  He is not the type of person who feeds his dogs whatever is available at the time.  I could spend hours chatting with Jim about dogs, which I have.  Check them out.  You will be pleased that you did.

Wag More, Bark Less and Keep Austin Dog Friendly.

Our 12-year old dog, Cinnamon, has been limping.  I'm not sure it is a "real" limp because this weekend when she was in the yard I saw her walking normally.  So, I decided she needs a treat and that maybe the limp was a way to get noticed because we were worried and giving that leg every bit of attention we had...her ploy was working.

But what to get and where?  As I drove home up Far West I saw the Just For Pets sign. Have you been in here? What a very cute shop.  It is filled with all things for dogs such as little backpacks, toys, costumes, beds, food and edible goodies.  Cinnamon is a funny one, having never played with dog toys because she loves to play with the cats. She may be embarrassed that I have spilled the beans on that odd little habit.  And I know she will not wear a costume or strap on a backpack.

After looking around a bit, I decide on an iced butterfly cookie made with whole wheat flour, honey, sesame seeds and other wholesome ingredients.  When dinner is over, I give her the cookie and she eats every bite sniffing the ground for more.  Obviously, I do not understand dog psychology in the least.  Peeking out the window at her now, damn if that limp isn't still there.  Maybe she just wants another cookie...

I just found this GREAT shop. It's hands down the best pet store I've been to in Austin. I just pulled in on a whim and I'm so glad that I did! I was looking for a specialized grain -free food to feed my puppy and the guys there were so helpful, nice and knowledgeable! I was only able to stay a few minutes (because I was on a break from work...) but I will be back because I noticed all of the great goodies from treats to toys and food. (They had an extensive range of natural and organic options...) In the few minutes I was there, I found a dog food I had been looking for and didn't find at a number of other pet stores. I am recommending this great little shop to all of my friends with pets, and to you!

This little place packs a punch! it is jammed packed with all sorts of goodness! Debbie and Jim do a great job in keeping their clientele well informed, educated and up to date with healthy and fun pet products. Their prices are pretty reasonable on food and snacks (believe me I checked). There are some treats that are actually healthier and a better value than what you would find at a major chain retailer. Debbie introduced me to what would become my doggies addiction- bully sticks (natural) and peanut butter treats!  Most of the treats that they have there are natural and are human grade- they are actually tasty. I love that they happen to be right off mopac so its kinda on my way home but even if they were not- I'd still go!

This is a great local store and although it's just a couple blocks off Mopac, it's the kind of place you'd still drive out of your way if necessary to give them your business.  Jim and Debbie greeted both me and my dog when I walked into the store.  They couldn't be more warm and welcoming.  Our dog was groomed here for the first time today and the groomer did a great job shaving him.  She followed my instructions exactly and our dog did not have any nicks or clipper burn, which has happened sometimes with other groomers.  Best of all, when Debbie brought our dog out from the back of the store, he kept snuggling up to her to get more scratches.  I could tell he'd been well loved while he was there.  We'll be repeat customers!

This is the best place for natural pet food, treats, toys and grooming products. They even have really nice gifts for animal lovers. They have a good variety of products and are very knowledgeable. They will even stay open a little later if they know someone is heading over to pick up some doggie food. This is a friendly place, devoted to animals and community.  Jim and Debbie also actively help Lucky Mutts Rescue with dog washes and Santa photos. Best local business I've discovered in years! They make this town seem a little bit smaller.

i can't believe i just found this gem!   let me share it with you, my fellow yelpers.....

this store has an assortment of natural and raw foods and treats, toys, holistic health aides, grooming products and baked goods.

jim and debbie were so helpful and knowledgeable about food, pet care and remedies.  they offered to stock our dog's food that we typically purchase at bark and purr.   that gesture was amazingly thoughtful!  plus we were loaded down with freebie food and treats for our cat and dog. this is what shopping should be like.

p.s.  ask for their business card.  there is a coupon on it for your return purchase.
