17 reviews for Jurison's Inn
I like that there's a place that competes with Zippy's. It's more local than L&L (which I'm not too fond of)
Kimchee burger's really good. I have yet to try other items and I will definately be back.
However, some of the other plate lunches cost $8 or more.. but the portions are big. I tried the mochiko chicken and it was okay...I've had better, crispier.
I wonder if they used to be part of an actual inn and later downsized?
Had lunch from here today. I ate here once before long ago. Not my go to spot, but today since my bff was around that location... Jurison's Inn seem to be the place to go to today... for a quick stop with decent food.
Had the mix plate... bbq chicken (dry), teri beef, shrimp, fish... with brown rice and toss salad.
Would give a 3 star if the chicken wasn't dry. I like the fact that they have brown rice. Parking can be an issue... but it's free.
When my friend went by to pick up the order... he said that the workers were fighting and he could see and hear them. What's up with that?! Talk about unprofessional.
This is probably a safe choice for lunch if you're in the area. But I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.
My dad loves this place. I've only been once and I ordered the Thai Chicken with rice. So good! A little too oily but overall it was good. My mom ordered the ahi katsu which was really good also. They were renovating when I went so I'm sure it looks nicer now.
The food here is okay. Well, the mochiko chicken with the dipping sauce is really good. The reason why I rate it so low is that when I asked for an extra plastic tray the lady behind the desk was so inattentive she handed me a paper plate. I needed a plastic tray to take home the food. After I asked her again for a plastic tray she looked all prissy and charged me 25 cents what the eff? I just spent $30 here and you couldn't even give me a free tray. Bleh, the place is dirty and the service sucks. Go spend your money somewhere else.
Ahi Katsu is my all-time favorite. I love how they are consistent with ensuring that the ahi is still rare inside while keeping the exterior crispy and the accompanying wasabi-teriyaki sauce is just an excellent compliment to this. The portions are huge as well and they have a crunchy spinach salad and corn instead of macsalad so that's a healthier option
There are so many different plate lunch! My fav are Ahi-katsu and Mochiko Chicken!!
I looove the ahi katsu roll! Yeah, there plates are a little bit on the pricier side but hey the portion is good and it is soo much better quality than L&L. The food tastes soo good.. ohhh i'm drooling at the thought of the ahi katsu roll.... wish I was back at home havin one plate lunch!
must be having a senior moment (year),,, I would swear on a stack of bibles i've reviewed Jurisons.. but low and behold,, no such animal,, so here it is,,,,,AHI KATSU,,, da bomb, their doing a little remodel now (down sizing?) but it's alllll good
I freakin' LOVE Jurison's.
Correction.
My dad loves Jurison's and pushed it on us as kids. And now, it's a habit I can't quite kick.
They do plate lunches - kind of like L&L, but even more "local" (if that's possible). They have items on their menu that lean more towards the Japanese-local side, versus L&L's Chinese-local flavor. As with most plate-lunch places, they give you a ton of food at a very reasonable price. Jurison's restaurant is quite small, so they might run out of seating if you come during lunch or dinner rush!
Tucked away in the strip-mall super center at the Waikele outlet shopping mall, I came to Jurison's Inn on a recommendation for the Fried Noodles ($5.75 USD) and they were actually quite good. The portions were a little smaller than I had expected and the price was a little steep for what you got but the noodles were good.
Jurison's Inn is a standard plate lunch restaurant with small occupancy and a strong local feel. I'm a mainlander so take what I have to say with a grain of salt. In any case, the fried noodles came on a black plastic plate and had fried noodles with grated imitation crab to add to the flavoring. It had a good consistency and mixed well with the chili sauce I added in addition to the plate. In the end, I wish there was more because I was hungry 2 hours later. But I would definitely come back, although it's no Rainbows.
My brother loves the fried noodles here and now I'm a big fan. I should have ordered the combination noodles but instead I ordered them plain - they're good either way i'm sure though. The noodles have this flavor that reminds me of the sauce on ogadashi tofu. They're just really tasty. I also had this combination plate with kalbi and chicken - it was good as well but the fried noodles were my favorite. This would be a great local spot to have nearby work for lunch.. too bad i don't work at the outlets nearby...
Back when I lived in the islands couple years ago, back when Jurisons was actually where that other restaurant extended into next door, I was introduced to the place, and I've been coming back ever since, not to mention I stop by whenever I'm back here, like right now..
anyways, The strange reason why I come back is for the furikake chicken (which was also the first time I was introduced to japanese condiments)..
That's just my personal reason..
on the other side, Jurisons has quite a range of rather good and different food, and for a rather nice price..
Employees are fairly nice, and it a rather clean place..
One thing I hope gets fixed soon (haven't checked recently, hope it is gone) is that little bar-sort-of-thing from the previous restaurant on the left side of the Inn..
Jurisions doesn't use this serving section, thing, and it would be best if they remove it and put more chair space, 'cause they could use more seats..
I would love to grant the place my wonderful "Nymo's 100% Approval" and 5-stars, as much as I love the place, but something is just nagging at me now and I just can't place my foot on why I can't give this place my full approval..
though, The Inn will just have to deal with my 4-stars at the moment..
Non description decor but the food is good. The Mochiko chicken bowl was good. The Furikake chicken was really good. It was crispy and flavorful.
I was looking and looking for some place to remind me why coming home and eating food here was better than those damn L&L's popping up all over the place in California. Lo' and behold I forgot about Jurison's, but never again!!! The kim chee fried rice is da one to get and I had the ahi katsu plate too. Those two things alone make me want to fly back home and get more. Check it out!!!
I always visit Jurison's when I shop at Waikele Shpg. Ctr. There must have's are their noodles (w/ teri sauce) & ahi katsu plate with brown rice!!!!!!!!!! YUM!
Most of their food is good. My favorite healthy option, is the ahi katsu roll with brown rice. For bento cravings..try the breakfast bento with their yummy friend noodles. Oh, wash it all down with a thirst quenching green river.
i've always wished that there was a jurison's in town. if there was, i would probably be going there instead of zippy's (not that zippy's is awful...which it isn't...so don't shoot me! nothing beats zippy's chili!).
whenever i'm in the area, i always make an effort to stop by to pick up something to take back home or to dine in.
if you want something to take to the beach, they also have breakfast and lunch bentos which is pretty good (bento of omelet, spam, teri steak, fried noodles, etc).
so far i've tried the garlic chicken, mochiko chicken, furikake chicken, steak, breakfast bentos, etc. good stuff.
