I am quite surprised that this place is a three and a half star location because I feel that their food, service and ambiance deserves far more especially when you see that even after the Palo Alto tax as been applied (i.e. expensive things live in Paly) it is still a reasonable place to have a great meal.
I discovered this place from a Yelp Elite event back in March and was pleasantly surprised at the types of food they serve as appetizers as well as their fantastic selection of alcohol/cocktails. I decided to come here for dinner because they were part of the Silicon Valley Restaurant Week promotion, but found once I got here that their prices didn't warrant the promotion to be necessary and in the end I actually saved $10 and some stomach space (I'm not a huge dessert fan ...) ordering from their regular menu.
They have the most amazingly marinated meats such as chicken and lamb, as well as a truly aware winning halibut with a creamy coconut curry sauce that is oh so good and melt in your mouth! They usually have great happy hour specials and they have their own prixe fix menu for $30 normally that will garner you relatively the same dishes as the SVRW selections (despite what the waitress told me ...)
This place is pretty intimate so I would definitely recommend a reservation but parking is not a pain due to a very close parking garage that also serves Miyake and nearby restaurants and businesses and I hope to see the rating of this place go up because their food has been consistently good every time.

When I use to work in downtown Palo Alto, I used Junnoon as my catering service for my gallery exhibitions and parties. I've tried everything on their menu and WOW! I love it all. My favorite dishes are the 'Basil Malai Chicken Tikka' and the 'Tangy Semolina Shells'.
On special gallery occasions, we would take our clients and guest out to dinner here. The seating is fast and the quality of service is hospitable! The ambience is quaint with low lighting and dark tone decor.
Here are a few dishes I would recommend:
Appetizers
~ Basil Malai Chicken Tikka
~ Tangy Semolina Shells
~ Tapioca Fritters
Potato and tapioca fritters, flavored with curry leaves, peanuts and mustard seeds with coconut ginger chutney
Breads
~ Garlic Naan, brushed with butter
Entrées
~ Old Delhi-Style Chicken
Slices of chicken tikka in a fenugreek seasoned tomato-onion sauce

I have worked in Palo Alto for about 1 1/2 years and walk by this place almost every day, because it's right in front of the Caltrain station. And yet, I had never been in. Not until tonight that is.
What a great place. Friendly staff and good food and drinks. Although my coworker and I came for the Yelp Eats menu, we decided to order off the normal menu. We had the appetizer special, which is 4 appetizers for $24 and then one entree. Wow that was a lot of food and I'm happily carting home a doggy bag.
The appetizers are great. I have to say that they aren't for the faint of heart, as they are spicy. They aren't ridiculously spicy or anything, but they are spicy for American standards. But the pastry that meats were wrapped in and held were amazingly flaky and then everything was full of flavour.
The drinks are good too, and I really need to come back for happy hour (Sun - Thurs, 5 - 7), where they serve half price drinks. The cocktails go for around $10 each, which I guess is normal restaurant price, and they are very good. If you like rum, go with the Bollywood Dream.
For dessert, we also indulged in the molten chocolate cake which was perfect. Really really perfect.
I really enjoyed this place and look forward to coming back. It's a bit pricey to make it something that you can do often, but once in a while, why not!

For those of you who have eaten Indian food at high class places in London (ie. Chutney Mary, Cinnamon Club), this place will satisfy that craving. In fact, the chef is the ex-chef from Taj Hotels in Delhi, and then Cinnamon Club in London, U.K. This is Indian food, with a slight twist. I don't want to call it fusion, bc most of the time, fusion is just a short way of saying 'confusion.' The food here is a pleasant surprise to your palette, where flavors you wouldn't have envisioned together meld together beautifully.
Everything vegetarian on the menu is good. The vanilla kulfi is excellent .. and I don't even like kulfi. Their bar has some really fun drinks as well, very tasty.
This place continues to surprise me with the pace that its ditiorate. Went there for a business lunch and there is this big grouchy guy who had no interest in serving and listening to you. Kept pestering us to order as soon as we were seated and did not ask for any drinks etc. The food was okay (perhaps a three star at best specially if you are vegetarian-shame for an Indian food joint).
After our meal was done, the same big grouch guy tried to push Dhaba tea onto us and we wanted to see the tea selections but would refuse to bring the tea selecation box. Horrible service and experience. Avoid this place at all cost......Food and service not worth the money these folks are chrging.
My husband always claimed he didn't like Indian food even though he'd never tried it. I finally convinced him to come under the guise that it wasn't really Indian. Indian or not, he loved it.
For appetizers we had the Basil Malai Chicken Tikka and the Tangy Semolina Shells, Y-U-M-M-Y.
Our entrees were even better. I had the Old Dehli Style Chicken and he had the rice flaked sea bass.
Oh yeah, and don't, under any circumstances, pass on the cocktails. I had a Bollywood cocktail, and my husband had a Ginger Sutra. Foofy, but yummy!

My co-worker and I made a reservation for Junnoon during the Yelp Eats event for 6pm on October 6th. Being two excited foodies, we got there a bit early and was seated promptly. The interior was really modern and chic, pretty cool vibe. I can definitely see myself returning in the future to do some lounging. We were greeted by a friendly waiter giving us ample time to review the 3 or 4 menus that we had. There was the Yelp Eats menu, wine menu, A La Carte menu, and cocktails menu. We started off each with a yummy cocktail. I had a delicious mojito and Mariko ordered some mango thing that was fabulous (I stole a sip). After, we looked to make some dinner decisions and decided to divert from the Yelp Eats menu and order the appetizer sampler where we were able to choose four items in the appetizer list, followed by Old Delhi-Style Chicken (similar to chicken tikka masala), along with garlic and plain naans.
For the appetizer platter, we picked Lamb Kebab Roll, Tandoori Salmon, Tapioca Fritters, and Bombay Bhaji. The Lamb Kebabs Rolls were exquisite, flavorful, and spicy. I loved the taste of the paratha that wrapped the tasty meat. Tapioca fritters were also delicious but my favorite of the four was the Bombay Bhaji which basically were these little phyllo pies filled with samosa type veggies topped with an amazing spicy sauce.
Then the Old Delhi-Style Chicken curry came out with the naans. This dish was very tasty however not the best that I've had, but pretty good. I still think the curry at Darbar is the best... The naans were flaky and just perfect to dip into our curry.
After the entree passed, we order the Spiced Molten Chocolate Cake... OH MY GOODNESS! So they had the texture just right where once your fork pierces the cake, chocolate goodness will ooze out. The best part was the taste--- you can definitely sense the indian spices. This dessert was fantastic!
Overall, the experience was awesome from great service and good food. This review lost a star since the curry and the salmon tandoori wasn't considered perfection and prices were a bit high. I will definitely be back, though, for happy hour as cocktails were delicious. :-)

Although I indulged at this restaurant, I didn't step foot inside. Junnoon is nestled at the corner of University and High St. and offers great options for al fresco dining. While enjoying an incredible meal one can engage in one of my favorite activities, people watching.
Our server was stellar. He was informative, prompt, and courteous. The food has a modern Indian vibe that is bold and flavor-intense. I opted for the rice flaked sea bass and my friend decided on the New Dehli chicken. We were both overjoyed with our selections. Had I not known any better, I seriously may have licked my plate clean.
The restaurant uses locally grown produce, which is always a plus in my book. Their meats are locally sourced as well. It is a guarantee that you will love the unique flavors of this exquisite establishment.
Maybe next time I'll check it out from the inside. ;)
It was ok. Our waitress was such a sweetheart - but so slow.
Definitely recommend going family style. The appetizers are pretty good. Definitely try the chicken tikka app. Lamb chops entree was awesome but overcooked :( the veg trio was good - huge portions! Goats cheese naan is pretty good. Super westernized and fancy shmancy...spinach raita but no achaar? I'll stick to my tabas!
Nice twist on Indian food... good atmosphere... nice wait staff.
The only things missing:
Tthe fire. I was hoping some of the dishes would be a bit more spicier.
and I missed some of the traditional Indian stuff.... they serve only a peanut sauce with the papadum... I missed the chutney and pickled stuff. Also I wish they had Peshwari as one of their Naan selections.
I would come back though... as it was a nice variety and change on the normal Indian food cuisine.
Junnoon is an interesting experience. I love fusion music but wasn't quite as confident when the mix extended to my food. After dinner at Junnoon, all I can say is...bring on the fusion! Junnoon is right next to a public parking area, so you needn't be circling along for hours frustrated. The ambiance strikes just the right tone between a lounge and a restaurant, making it appropriate for business meals as well as date nights. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful and recommended several dishes we ended up totally loving! We shared the Lamb kebab roll and the Bombay bhaji to start with. I wouldn't recommend the latter unless you have a decent tolerance for spice. For entrees, we tried the Shrimp in coconut mustard sauce, the tandoori lamb chops and the paneer and red pepper cake. We paired these with garlic naan and some plain white rice. The shrimp had a neat kick to it because of the mustard and the lamb chops were to die for! The paneer cake, unfortunately, was not quite the same standard as the rest of the fare and will not been on my list the next time we visit. We ordered a couple of cocktails... nothing spectacular. We topped off the perfect dinner with some bread pudding for dessert.
We definitely will be dining there again... perhaps with a http://restaurant.com gift cert though.
Tasty food, decent cocktails. Different from the usual Indian fare and felt way healthier. The things we ordered were not the least bit greasy and tasted special.
The ambiance was ok - somehow I had expected a little better.
Non-Indian Indian food fanatic here!
Don't go if you want traditional Indian eats or atmosphere. As the restaurant proclaims, it's "modern." "Bold." It is not in the same sub-genre as Amber or Hyderabad, or Darbar.
Case in point: there is steak and pork on the menu....dishes flavored with cream cheese...rosemary naan! (Chuckle)
But if you're in the mood for chic and experimental with Indian/Pakistani flair, then this is a fun place to check out.
Saag- silky smooth and light
Raita - same. It almost had a chiffon like quality to it. And it was delightfully mild, but effective in clearing out spicy flavors between dishes.
Eggplant crush (love the name)- Oooh, yum. This savory treat was ever so slightly sweet. Delicious with naan. Possibly my favorite, but hard to say since the competition was tough.
Black beans - Also delicious with naan or rice!! Mild-flavored.
Dumplings - I think they were good. Ordered by my discriminating dinner companion who knows I don't eat pork. But they were nice looking dumplings. And they vanished quite quickly.
The vegetarian plate, which I got, was generous for one person. I think that even if I were quite hungry, I would have had difficulty finishing that. I am a smallish woman, but still. I can put it down.
The paneer cake was the centerpiece of the dish but was just A-OK. I was less crazy about the tomato-onion sauce it was served with. But I have enough leftover to have another Junnoon appetizer tomorrow!
Next time I would like to try the Delhi chicken. (Slobber, slobber, slobber just thinking about it. It was a real toss-up for me: veggie plate or the chicken.)
We went at around 8PM on a Monday. There were Indian people there (good sign) and others too. We were seated at a table that seemed comically long at first. It reminded us of a medieval table and we thought we'd need loudspeakers to hear each other. But it was quiet enough, and private enough that it wasn't necessary. In the end, we realized it was necessary to have a long enough table for all our plates!
Another perk about Junnoon: our waiter was a doll. I didn't get his name, but he was blond (hey this is a fusion kind of place!) and self-effacing and sweet. In addition to the eggplant, black beans, raita, and saag I plan to order next time, I hope we can get him again too.
what i like is that the food is consistent, a little unconventional, but good
i can come with my husband as a date or as a large group and they are very accomodating - we took a large group of applicants here for dinner and everyone really enjoyed the food and setting.
do you come here for a more authentic-type indian? no. i go to darbar on the next street when i want to stay in the university ave area.
Make your reservation now.
The food is just simply so good. That's it. The one nice touch was that while the food was less ethnic than "hole in the wall authentic", they retained some simple items such as naans, which done very well.
Not much else to be said, well done.. I'll be back there.
Every time I come here I love their food. I can highly recommend the goat cheese naan, the lamp chops, the halibut, the bread pudding and of course their unbeatable spicy molten chocolate cake!!! Service we found incredibly friendly!!! However, I took of one star because once the bill arrives you better don't faint...
Our original plan for our anniversary date was to go to Amber in Santana Row, but since we wanted to try out another Indian restaurant, we decided to hit up Junnoon.
Overall, our experience was OK.
The ambience was really nice... I liked the decor and the service was great, but the food was allllriiigght. I would've preferred going to Amber (to get their buttered chicken! yum).
We tried the Tandoori Salmon appetizer and their dumplings. The salmon was pretty good... and the dumplings were spicy! For entrees, we ordered the Tamil Chicken, Shrimp in Coconut Mustard sauce and Garlic Naan... The Tamil Chicken was my husband's choice and it was delicious. It went great with the Garlic Naan. As for the shrimp, it was OK. The mustard flavor was too overwhelming for me, although my husband seemed to enjoy it. The Garlic naan was great, too....
The food is not so bad. There were some dishes we enjoyed and some we didn't really care to order for again. I would've opted for an Indian restaurant that would've had more familiar options like Chicken Tikka Masala or Tandoori Chicken or Buttered Chicken... stuff like that... I'm an amateur at Indian food, though so for all I know their menu really does have classic Indian food, hahahaha....
Anyway, this restaurant is worth trying... just don't think there's anything in the menu that would make me ever come back.
maybe 2.5 (.5 for Tinna)
I have to say this place is another Palo Alto disappointment. I am starting to believe Palo Alto has become a town of all show and little substance.
My wife and I started the evening here for a Yelp Elite event. The place was well appointed and looked good and the staff was friendly. Toward the end of the event my wife and I decided to dine in the restaurant.
The service was slow, but we gave a pass because of the event in the bar. Things were looking up when we were served the Roti and peanut dipping sauce. This was quite good and unfortunately we should have stopped here.
I ordered the Tandoori Black Pepper Steak. When ordering I was asked how I would like my steak prepared. I asked for Medium Rare, but when it arrived it was cooked well done. There was no pink on the steak at all. I was going to mention this, but no one came by to ask until we were almost done eating.
My wife had the old delhi style chicken (AKA Butter Chicken) this was pretty good. It had a lot of chicken and a good heat. We also had a small bowl of rice and 1 order of garlic nan. The Naan was quite good as well.
At this point I was torn between 2 and 3 stars, but leaning toward 3... then the check came... $52! We had 2 dishes, 1 Naan, 1 Rice, and a coke.... $52! This meal should have cost $24... there was nothing that made this meal worth more. I was hoping for something different, but was sadly disappointed.

I don't think this place is strictly indian and the prices are a little high but the food is delicious
We went here for lunch last Friday. My coworker tried to make reservations by leaving them a message, but they never called him back. Nor did they have any record of his message. On the bright side, when we arrived at around noon, the place was empty. Junnoon also has an outdoor dining area under a canopy of sorts that has been set up on the corner of High Street and University. In other words, it gets a bit loud at times when you have trucks driving by. One of the accepted hazards of sitting outside is that you may find local wildlife in your food. Such was the case when I found a camouflaged beetle in my salad. I was pretty grossed out and mentioned it to the waiter in the hopes of getting some more salad. Not only did they bring out another portion, but they also comped my meal! They definitely went above and beyond in regards to service.
This is a rundown of what we ate. We all ordered their lunch special "Tiffins" which are a main entree that come with rice or naan, sauces, salad, and lentils.
* Appetizer: Lentils, ground into a paste, formed into a cracker and then fried + dip of yogurt with peanuts - a bit salty, but also tasty
* Naan: plain & garlic topped (with parsley!) - SOOOOOOOO GOOD
Tiffins:
*Tamil Chicken - This came in a mild sauce that reminded me much of the yellow curry you can get at Thai restaurants. It was quite tender and delicious on top of the rice. I could definitely taste the coconut milk added. Great choice for the spice-adverse.
*Lentils - So typically I'm afraid of eating foods that I cannot identify. Lentils definitely fall into this category. However, these were very tender, mildly spiced, and DELICIOUS! I wish I had a larger stomach because I could have eaten a lot more of this topped on the naan!
*Various chutneys and sauces (plain yogurt, avocado, mango chutney) - The plain yogurt was the best in my opinion. Just enough tartness for that fresh flavor.
*Salad - Regular spring mix with a VERY sour dressing of sorts. It was kind of eh.
*Jasmine rice - Light and fluffy. It went well with my chicken.
Other people ordered the Black Pepper Steak, which looked like a regular steak to me. They ate it all, so it must have been pretty good. Portion sizes here are not huge, but with the amount of sides and bread they give you, you don't really need that much of the main course in order to leave stuffed! I really enjoyed the food, and would definitely come back. Probably only if someone else was paying though, or for a special occasion.
My uncle recommended this place and I must admit he didn't steer me wrong! We decided to dine outdoors to enjoy the remainder of the warm weather this w/e. Started with some drinks to unwind after a day of work.
Continued on to the:
Basil Malai Chicken Tikka - oh so tender, moist & seasoned to perfection. Came w/mixed greens and mint chutney. Delish!
Roti Paratha - yum-o! Loved the tomato paste that accompanied the dish.
For my entree I had the Lucknow Style Lamb and Saffron Biryani. Our server could not have suggested a better dish! Baked in the oven, the rice was flavorful, fluffy and the lamb was quite tender.
Great decor, great service and great food!

Great food and great service.
We tried Junnoon yesterday and we like the food very much. We ordered the Tandoori Salmon for appetizer, Old Delhi style chicken and Vegetarian Trio as entrees, Rosemary Naan and Onion Kulcha. Every single dish was very good, the best of the items was the Old Delhi style chicken which tastes like Butter chicken but made in Muglai style (thick and creamy).
I would have give it 5 stars if not for the wait to get the food. It took them 40 minutes to bring the appetizer out. The waiter apologized several times and did not leave us hanging. They even went to the extent of not charging me for the appetizer. But come on it shouldn't take 40 minutes to serve an appetizer.
The decor of the place is good not great. They have seating outside during summer which what we opted for.
Overall a very good place that I highly recommend as long as you don't mind the wait.
One more thing before you plan to go. Check out http://Restaurant.com for $25 gift certificates. They are on sale most times at http://Restaurant.com. I got them for $2 each when they had a 80% sale which made my dinner a very sweet deal.
As others have clarified, this place is not Darbar. If you want traditional Indian food at a great price, go there. The food here is far more expensive, and far more unique. Don't go with the classics - you'll probably be disapointed and think that you could get the same thing for much cheaper elsewhere,
My boy and I came here to celebrate my last day of work. He had the $30 fixed price menu, and I didn't, which enabled us to try a variety of things. I had the rice-flaked tilapia, which I absolutely adored. My bf had the tamil chicken, which was good but not terribly exciting. The naan was very, very good (we tried both regular and garlic) and the molten chocolate cake for dessert was also good, although I have to say I prefer a classic molten chocolate cake without the spices.
Service was great, and the atmosphere was also very nice (we ate outside on the patio -- thank goodness for heat lamps!).
The food was solid! It was super tasty but don't expect traditional Indian flavours. We had the Tandoori Black Pepper Steak and the Tilam Chicken (unsure of spelling, as I'm going off of memory - it's not on their online menu) with Garlic Naan. I highly recommend both: can't go wrong with Garlic Naan :D
The cocktails were pretty good too. The star of the night was the Tipsy Lassi, which is mango lassi with mango rum in it. A total winner! The Junooni was just okay, but I think it's because I tried that after I had my adult mango lassi, mmm... I have a feeling I'm going to crave this drink.
Based on those two aspects, I'd give it a solid 4 stars, but the decor and ambiance pushed it to 5! It's a very nicely done, loungey place.
Definitely coming back to try other dishes here :)

If you want a quiet, intimate dinner, go elsewhere.
If you like to cozy up next to the person at the next table, do it up.
If you like two straws in your drunken yogurt, be their guest.
Oh, what's that you say? You're an iPhone-toting, designer jeans-sporting, hipster product of web 2.0? Welcome! Come in...
Dishes are a touch on the pricey side but the flavors make up for it.
Creative presentations fill out small plates giving you a full, yet smaller, plate of food. An entree is likely enough but most of you would probably be more satisfied with a small plate to start - this seems like their concept anyway. So order a starter. You can wait for your entree to arrive without one, but how much papadum are you going to crunch down in the mean time?
Lively, colorful dining room, inspired cocktail list and a vibrant bar scene. Stopping by during happy hour for a few sips and nibbles could sub in for the full on dining experience.
Save a few bucks but enjoy it anyway? ...hit up the fixed price 3 course menu (check their website for availability) or get hooked up with a http://www.restaurant.com gift certificate.
I just don't get it!!!! They win so many awards, they get so much hype... and they really are just Okay at best.
I remember when they opened up, I was really excited, since I lived just a couple of blocks away, but what a let down. Granted, it might just be my personal taste in indian food, which really doesn't allow for any type of fusion. I think indian food should be indian food, not indian food with a pretty little sunday dress on and a bow in it's hair!
If you want a scene and okay indian food, this is the spot for you. If you want to just throw down on some indian food, and then spend some good couch time rubbing your belly, there's much better

I'm not going to lie, I was a bit skeptical of an Indian/Fusion type of restaurant, especially considering my love of hole in the wall Indian restaurants. But I was pleasantly surprised by this place, and would definitely recommend it and come back!
First, it's a very modern/chic restaurant, with a bar inside! Very classy and appropriate for night out with pals or co-workers. The service is very pleasant and responsive.
Next, the food is actually very tasty! I ordered the chef's five dal with spinach - I ate the entire dish in about five minutes. The garlic naan was buttery and fluffy, and still had some crispy parts - delicious! I ate the whole naan, and I generally only eat half a naan at restaurants.
My only 'gripe' is that the food took about 40 minutes or so to come out, but given we had a table of 12, it was to be expected. Also, they charge 20% gratuity for a large table, so be warned!
Will be back, it's a great place for large parties! On the way out I also saw they had wine tasting, pretty cool.
Over priced. Small plates are a good size. Lamb roll was great... the rest were good - but not great. Ambiance is very nice. Waiters are very attentive - except they seemed to be in a hurry to clear out our table... a little too over enthusiastic.
Dunno what the hype is all about? The decor is great, service good but hurried.
-- The tandoori Salmon is not what I expected but was great, and very different.
-- Bombay bhaji was very lame and dryish. An amaturish attempt of using a ready phyllo cups with mashed Indian curry in it.
-- DH loves curries so we frequently visit Indian places. He said that the Delhi style chicken was good and I tasted a spoonful (more like the butter chicken but very spicy and peppery).
--- The lamb biryani is in a seriously small quantity and not enough for two people. The lamb inside was very dry and in flakes instead of being in juicy chunks.
--- The naans were really awesome and the best I have had in Bay Area.
Overall, o.k. but not impressive.
Ok, this is an Indian Fusion place.
The food is ok and the service was alright.
Nothing really to complain nor to shout about, I guess it's nice to have Junnoon for variety in the PA area.
I prefer Amber India's food if I'm not stuck in Palo Alto.
Lamb kebab rolls, regular naan, garlic naan, chef's halibut and tandoori lamb chops were all incredible. Well executed, great flavors, cooked to perfection.
I second Dave C's remark about the servers being awkward. Service, while friendly and attentive, just seemed unsure. I didn't get the sense that these were experienced professional waiters who had worked in a fine dining environment before.

Nice looking place, but maybe not the best for a date, since the tables are pretty close to one another.
The Tippy Lassi is top notch. Get that.
Otherwise, don't expect traditional Indian food. I got some fish which was created in the Kerala style of cooking, and well, having spent 6 weeks in India, can tell you that it's not really authentic. But, if you're into the fusion thing than I'm sure you'll like this place. Just go in with that expectation.
I had heard of Junnoon from a couple of Indian friends and decided to try it last weekend. It was fabulous. Sleek, modern design inside but still an inviting atmosphere. Definitely reassuring to have a lot of Indian people there eating themselves!
I had the vegetarian trio ($18), which was delicious and came in generous portions. It included a paneer cake with tomato sauce, lentils, eggplant, and spinach raitha. We also got brown rice ($3) and rosemary naan ($3) to share. The paneer cake was crispy on the outside and paired perfectly with the creamy tomato sauce. The eggplant and lentils were also delicious. The boy had the steak ($20), which he said was juicy and delicious, but he did end up eating some of my dinner.
Service was quite good. The server was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable about the menu.
Hint: Buy a $25 gift certificate for $10 at http://www.restaurant.com.
The best Indian Food I have had in a long time. The food was amazing. We started with a Tandori Salmon appetizer that was very unique with a blend of Ginger and Lemongrass. My vegetarian trio with Brown Rice was incredible and flavorful without being too greasy. Our server, Carolina, was very attentive and helpful. A great restaurant experience.
Service is amazing, naan is amazing, everything is amazing at junnoon! I love coming here whenever I am back in town! The staff is extremeley knowledgeable and everything I've ever ordered has been amazing!
Even chilling in the lounge area is fun!

First time here, was very impressed. Very intimate atmosphere with Indian music gently playing in the background. Our server was top notch, and we were never left wanting anything as he was right on it. We ordered many small dishes and shared, very good food and also, their signature cocktails were so good. Can't wait to go back when their outdoor seating is open on a warmer day.

This place is seriously underrated. I came with 3 other people, everyone's food was fantastic. The vegetarian trio is really really good. The pinot from the barrel is also quite good. Nice ambiance and not too $$$.
Went to Junnoon while up in the Bay Area and thought that the food was really good, but the service was incredibly awkward. For Junnoon being a fancy Indian place for the White man, I would have thought that they would hire waiters who aren't SO EFFING AWKWARD.
I had the vegetarian trio, which was really good and I enjoyed it (but the eggplant was a little too bitter for my liking, but I still ate it and it flowed out my bum like mud later, which is great). However, our naan was burnt and was totally half the size of regular naan that you get at most Indian places. For it being a pretty pricey meal, we were really squished next to a big party right outside our booth. It seemed like they should have made some more space between us.
Our waiter was SO AWKWARD. He was probably the least funny guy I've ever met in my life and was always asking weird follow up questions. Not a single funny one liner, just weird, inquisitive questions, and he was very, very shaky with the plates.
Man, that guy was awkward.

This is certainly not the place to look for traditional Indian food. We went last Friday after reading the reviews on opentable. Ordered the black pepper steak and the seabass. Steak was served with patatoes and tasted ok but nothing outstanding.. The seabass dish was really not of my taste, dry and the sauce was a bit strange. Roti was very average ... However the chocolate lava cake was unique and great!
We did like the atmosphere and the deco.
But our fav Indian restaurant still remains to be Amber Santana Row.
