Here we go again--- I'm sitting at the bar again. This time is different though, I'm in fried food heaven with 20 wings, a small panzarotti, sweet potato fries that are smothered in honey sauce and a few beers to wash it all down. The locals at The Jug preserve the come as you are attitude that rule this bar. Sports fans can zone in on the game from any of the TV screens. If one TV isn't in focus rest-assure there's another view at a different angle. One warning: 99% of patrons bleed for the Philly teams but eh, rivals can grab a seat too.
Order seconds at The Jug since there is PLENTY to choose from: monster burgers ($7-8), 7 variations of fries, Buffalo wings ($7-$15), baby back ribs ($12-$20) and the starters menu has so much gluttony to choose from that the heart-attack is well-worth it.. Ahhhh yes, this is one of my favorite Jersey dive bars. The food is great, greasy and goes down well with a cold drink. Service is on point and served with a smile.
Leave your dancing high heels at home, a dance floor isn't here but girly girls and hot guys are still welcome and roam the bar. At the game's half-time, rock and country music play on the jukebox, ironically one hit is Bruce Springsteen. Oh yeah, I'm feelin' the Jersey spirit!Listed in: Two Slices of Bread and…

I still have yet to eat here, because it's usually late when I show up for drinks with friends, but I hear the food is good. I like the low key atmosphere. Great place to chill with friends, meet new people, put good tunes on, and play pool and shuffleboard!

Not a huge junk food junkie but once in a while you just want something bad but good! and these wings hit the spot! Not too greasy and nice and spicy! Hubby and I came here a few times during happy hour and really enjoyed the atmosphere, drinks and food. Not crazy about the fact they charge for celery and dressing but the tab is not huge if you come during happy hour (3 to 6 I think). Will be back again!

Best wings I've ever had. They take pride in their wings too and make them with care and are consistently awesome. I think they fry and then take the extra step to broil them to crisp them up more. Soooo good

Haven't been to this spot in a hot minute but always loved it.
Me and friends used to frequent the basement and always enjoyed banter with Chris and Zack (bartenders) and a decent beer. Food has always been good -- I've never done the wings, believe it or not bu tthey make the BEST BLT I've ever had the opportunity to eat. :)
The outdoor bar in the summer has grilling goin' on just like in your own backyard, without all the work. Check it out! -

The Jug Handle Inn serves it's purpose! It's purpose is to feed you some tasty wings and cheap beers!
I don't mind the atmosphere, it's not like I walked in expecting gold plated barstools and mother-of-pearl coasters. It was clean, they let the two of us sit at a long bar table made for 6, most restaurants make you move to accommodate "bigger parties"
$2.25 Yuengling on tap ( this is great because it's hard to find Yuengling on tap in Boston where we moved from )
My husband is addicted to wings, he thought they were "just great" and put away 20 of them, and could probably do more.
I ordered my wings "dry" with delectable Honey-Hot sauce on the side to dip myself, and my traditional "Liar's Salad", side house salad, which was fresh and did it's job of making me feel better about eating deep fried crunchies
We just moved to Mount Laurel and I think we've tried most wings in the area, these were definitely awesome, thumbs up :)
ps. I love seeing the chickens running wild and crazy around the property when we pull up -

The Jug Handle Inn has the best wings in South Jersey. A bold statement, I know, but it's true! I realize it's a dive bar, don't take children, but the crowd isn't bad. The hot honey wings are my favorite but others are great too. I have even tempted fate with the bald eagle wings, they taste great but are extremely hot. After eating them prepare for your stomach to hate you.
I do have to mention the service is terrible. I have had problems getting beer quick enough to cool my mouth so order plenty or go to the bar. One time the waitress lost the order, she entered it again but it took forever to get my food that night. The wings are sooo good that this doesn't bother me.
Pro tip: Order the wings grilled. It's not on the menu because it's a pain for them to do but they cook and then grill them for even more crunch. -

The Jug may not be for everyone, but I've been there plenty of times and have always had fun. The second time I went the bartender had two different particular beers in his hand in two seconds. He remembered what my friend and I had the prior time there, which I found amazing, considering the crowds they get. I don't know much about upstairs, except live music on weekends, etc.
Downstairs, ...one pool table..you need to put your name on a chalk board to establish your turn in the rotation...winner stays on. Most of the locals who play there are good fun. Sometimes a little tough playing shuffle board when it's real busy, because it's in a high-traffic alley next to the bar...and the later the night gets, the less inclined the patrons are to move for ya.
But like I said, good old fashioned, no frills, drinking bar with great wings, which is just the scene I like to blow off steam. -

I have been served here since I was about 17. Love, love, love this place.
Please don't waste your time coming if you're going to look down on jeans, tshirts, and maybe no shirts. This is a bar, with alcohol, wood stools and some booths upstairs, and some kick azz wings. That's it. Nothing fancy, just good times to relax.
The food network has recently given koodos to the Jug too.
Woohoo! Grab some wings. -
Review from Dave H.
The Inn sports lots of rooms and multiple floors (we gathered downstairs for a birthday celebration). Our bartender's (Ed) service was excellent - he flagged our friend after he had too much to drink, kept everyone watered, and the cleared the tabletops often.
They do shots and bomb shots too. I tried some of a Washington Apple shot (smooth and sweet) and someone did a Jagerbomb with me. The most expensive shot set me back $4! Unfortunately, this is a cash-only establishment, but they have an ATM on-site.
I had ten Bald Eagle wings (~$8), which reminded me of Hooters wings somewhat (regarding wing size and sauce consistency) but that's where the similarity ends, thankfully. They were actually good packed some kickin' heat. The hotness was acceptable but opt for the bleu cheese instead of celery sticks. While scarfing the wings down (with plenty of napkins, thank you), I watched a random football game on one of the TVs. If you finish an order, you receive a pin which reads: I CAN HANDLE THE BALD EAGLE AT THE JUG.
The Jug Handle Inn a good place to kick back and relax, with a pool table, jukebox, shuffleboard, and great staff. Recommended! -

I haven't been here in a couple years, but in its day, it was a great dive bar where a lot of off-duty cops hung out. The prices, obviously, are dirt cheap to match the decor.
Just a warning: I've witnessed several tense moment where a large, angry drunk was about to fight someone. For me, that's a plus but for others, not so much.Listed in: Beer Fridge

Crowded? Yes.
A dive? Meh, if you're going to be a snob about it.
The best deal on a pint of Guinness in the area? Hell. Yeah.
If you don't mind not being able to hear the person sitting right next to you or getting a little inventive when it comes to finding both a seat and a parking spot, then you'll have nothing to complain about at the Jug Handle.
The cheap booze is worth jostling for a place to stand, the food satisfies the drunk munchies like nothing else, and there is just such a great atmosphere to this place. I'm always a fan of hanging out on deck whenever the temperature allows, but the bar has plenty to offer inside, too.
If not for the ominous graffiti tags across the street, I'd definitely spend more time here. -

Apparently Kevin S. doesn't value three star reviews with some qualification. After his snide comments (BABY SIZE KEEPS DOWN COST DOWN - what dude? How about an ADULT size like every pub around here for $6?) on my THREE STAR (i.e. - A-Okay) review, forget it. This place has clearly defined itself as garbage. Perhaps make a comeback for those that rated you a one or two star instead of going after those that didn't completely pan your good for nothing run of the mill establishment.

We heard about this place on "Best Thing I Ever Ate" and my boyfriend and I decided to check it out on the way home from the beach. I got Honey BBQ wings and a Jug Handle Salad with chicken. My boyfriend got Medium wings and the "No Joke" pizza. Wasn't impressed with the medium wings, but my honey BBQ wings were fantastic. Uniquely sweet and meaty and I couldn't stop eating them. My boyfriend ended up dunking his wings in my remaining BBQ sauce. The pizza was fantastic as well. Never had one with horseradish but it worked. Salad was huge, and quite tasty. Service was ok, not overly friendly but that's not what we came for. We came for a tasty meal and we were not disappointed!

Good wings. Actually great. Dive dive dive bar. What a dump. Only thing that keeps me from going more frequent. Tue-Fri it's 1/2 price wings. Wow. Slammin. I only go here to eat, and seldom. Their wings are by far the best out this way.

A place renown for its WINGS, but you sure wouldn't know it when walking through the door.
A local staple, the Jug Handle Inn can aptly be called the working man's bar, where local tradesmen gather with their union boys after a hard day to put back half a dozen cold ones while watching Phillies games on the many TV's overhead. So you might walk in and think you are in the wrong place (as I did), since this is more of the bar, that just happens to serve up great chicken wings.
But you would never guess that this place is famous for their many variations of chicken wings, and even has gotten mention on the Food network, selected by one of their TV chef's as his favorite place to eat. That is what brought it to my attention, despite having spent years in and around this area.
So I happened to pick the worst time to go here, after 5pm on a weekday, right at happy hour, and couldn't find a spot in the parking lot. They have a big lot, but also a big following, and so expect this to be the norm. Walked in and sat down at a table (mistake), and proceeded to wait forever to place my order, and swear it took damn near 30 minutes to get my to-go bag of wings. But that's not to say it wasn't an entertaining time, as I got to sit back and watch the usual South Jersey scenery: the hot, platinum blonde bartender with the boob job, getting way too much attention from all the drinking men, who happened to be yelling at each other across the bar, probably from too many PBR's, and then the large table of guys who all worked together, ranging in age from 20-something, all the way to the 60 year old father of one of the guys, all throwing back beers, chomping down wings, and getting louder by the minute, being jovial as hell, embracing each other, and making you wish you had this sort of camaraderie with your own friends.
This place reminds me of every South Jersey dive bar, where locals congregate, and where nobody expects anything out of the ordinary. Me sitting there waiting for wings is probably the most exotic addition the place had seen all summer. But despite the rather plainness of it all, I was able to observe all the locals doing what they do, and given the particular people that live in this part of the state (Italians, Polish, etc.), I was able to soak up some of that local flavor that I often miss living on the other side of the country. Definitely an experience, and definitely worthwhile. And this is all before I even tasted the wings I came for.
This place is historic. My aunt and uncle live about two miles away from here, and while sitting down and eating with them, they told me that my dad and my uncle used to go here to put a few back. And the funny thing is that neither of them knew was famous for wings - something that may speak to the age at which they started serving these, since my old man was probably going here in the early '80's.
That's quite a dense review without making mention of the chicken wings. So I might as well add: the wings were really good. Best ever? Well I can't really answer that, since I am not done sampling wings around the country, but they were good enough to get mention on TV, and I did find they had a nice crunchy texture, and were coated with the perfect amount of sauce, so that they were wet, but didn't render the breading soggy. I really enjoyed them, and so did my uncle.
Sadly this was the last meal I ever had with him, as I returned to the West Coast the next day, and he passed away about 6 months later. I even left him a whole container of leftover wings we never ate - an accident I regretted at first, wanting to eat them on the plane ride home, but after the fact, was glad to leave him with the tasty morsels, as that was the last gift I ever gave him. We loved you, Jim.
Wings were as good as they were billed on TV, but go as much for the atmosphere of the place, as this IS South Jersey, in all its glory. -

Thought the wings were just OK. They are the kind of wings that have the feather piece still on. Sorry, I don't like those kinds. If it was closer to Philly I would be a regular and drink there all the time. Cheap beers, outside deck and fun atmosphere.

Welcome to a no-b.s. New Jersey bar (it doesn't get more NJ than a jughandle). You might find an awesome blues band upstairs, and you'll always find table shuffleboard & billiards downstairs. During the summer, there's an outdoor bar area with plenty of shade. Cheap drinks, friendly service, lots of parking.

this is my favorite local bar & i love it. i like to hang out in the down stars bar and shoot pool, play darts or shuffleboard. the burgers are big & delicious but it's the wings that you must order with every visit.
hands down my favorite bar wing in the Delaware Valley. their small crunchy wings are never soggy or rubbery. order them hot with a little "Bald Eagle" sauce on the side to control the heat unless you wanna suffer major pain in the AM. -

Great place to check out! The bar has an upstairs and downstairs bar, but I highly recommend the downstairs bar. It's got great character - exposed beams, dark, etc. It's not a fancy place, but who wants that? The wings are AMAZING. And, if you like SUPER, SUPER HOT wings, be sure to try their Bald Eagle Wings. If you eat them all, you get a collector's pin to commemorate your accomplishment. They're very hot. Overall, the food is excellent, really can't go wrong. And, the one thing that makes any bar, besides ambiance, is the regulars. There are a bunch of great regulars who are super cool. Definitely check it out.

I actually sought this place out after it was named by one of the celebrity chefs on food network as the best wings ever. I crossed the river to indulge. They were pretty good, but not deserving of the accolades that they received. Set in a bar scene, which is fine, I'm into dive bars. When you go and you are brave enough, try thier bald eagle sauce. Allegedly they give you major butt burn.

The Jug is an awesome place. The first time I went there and went towards the door, we were greeted by the wild chickens in the lot. I thought cool. Anyway went inside and was greeted by the bartender and was very nice. I had the garlic wings and they were very good.
