On the windows are big, hand-painted signs declaring the evening special for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We've always wanted to know if their evening special would be as down-home as you'd figure. On Friday, we found out--Yes! In the best way.
My husband ordered the Catfish (fresh fried, with lightly flavored breading--letting the natural goodness of the fish come through),
with homemade cornbread (corny, and not too sweet),
and homemade fried corn nuggets (awesome, awesome). He thought the tartar sauce must be homemade because it didn't taste anything like the typical stuff of everywhere else.
I selected Meatloaf from the board (I'm new to the dish, but I enjoyed it), with pinto beans (kinda' healthy, actually), and fresh fried zucchini (so Fall! really good with its thin, seasoned batter).
Our waitress even invited us to enjoy the fresh coffee she had brewed, even after it got time for closing. So we had a great evening meal at Judy's.
And, yes, Judy is there [is it every day?] doing the cooking.
