Excellent! I have been going to Jubilee for over a year (since my short hair requires frequent cuts, I have had a lot of them!). She is an amazing hair stylist and knows hair really well. Whenever I have an issue / question I feel like there is no need to explain it, she already knows exactly what I mean.
Jubilee goes to Bumble & Bumble workshops on a regular basis, so she is always up to speed on the newest trends and products.

Overall: great atmosphere, amazing craftsmanship.

Jubilee cut my hair last month--my first real haircut in twenty years!  And she was fantastic.  I think she may have been more concerned about my "big decision" to go short-hair than I was.  After sifting through several picture-collections of cuts at the salon, I pulled out an ad and she went with it.

Scalp massage: decadent.  Cutting: never had it done with a straight razor (very exciting).  Conversation: Mind, I'm out of the loop here, but she was playful and genuine.  End result: daily complements on the sidewalks of SF.

I'm going back soon for a trim.  I want to look that good for my mother when I visit her at Christmas.

I have been getting my hair cut and colored at Jubilee off and on for about four years.

I have high respect for all of the stylist, and have had only FANTASTIC cuts by all of them!

I just had my hair cut there again, two nights ago, by Hayden. In the last two days I have gotten four or five compliments on my new hair cut. Plus, I think I look great! I can think of no higher praise for a stylist than that I feel and look amazing after they cut my hair.

As anyone who has gone to a great salon knows, quality is never cheap. Nor is it here. For me, spending a good chunk of change is so beyond worth it, i can't tell you. But you should be aware of it before you go!

Jubilee is the best!
The Salon is very cool and comfortable with a soothing ambiance.
Jubilee is an amazing stylist, and Hayden is superb!
The other stylists, I am blanking on the 3rd main stylists name, she is bubbly with lots of style, they all are easy to communicate with and make you comfortable and happy with the results. I highly recommend this darling (small) Salon.
They have discount days, check out their website, http://Jubileehair.com
I think, you can just google it.
Go!, Have fun!  Treat yourself!   And enjoy your look!

i love jubilee hair studio. Hayden cuts my hair and I always get compliments on it. If any of my friends needs their hair done, I am always referring them to him because I know they'll be satisfied with what he does. He is an amazing hair stylist.

I had the best experience at Jubilee this week...I walked past on my way home and saw a 'hair model' sign posted on the window. I am usually not fussy about my hair and thought since it's so close to home I would give it a go. I have had bad experiences being a hair model before so I was not going in with high expectations.

Upon arrival, I was immediately warmly greeted by everyone in the Salon: Jubilee, Hayden, Linda, Shanti (sp?) and Trish (the one I gave my hair over to) and they were all wonderful.

It is a very small space but very cute and has a homey, laid back feel like everyone is good friends hanging out and doing hair (in a good way)...not at all pretentious like many salons can be but at the same time not too in your face with the chatter either - a perfect balance.

On to the hair! I have been partially a slave to my highlighted hair for years now with the exception of a few regretful times I strayed from my golden locks. When I took my seat in the chair Trish took the time to really listen to what I wanted and consulted with Jubilee to make sure everything we were about to do on my hair was feasible and correct. We decided on going a bit darker - more natural for the winter. This was not going to be a quick visit because of this alone and obviously being a hair model adds a few tickers on the tick tock clock since it's a learning experience for everyone. So, when I declared I had only 30 minutes left before I had to dash - the peeps at Jubilee were totally understanding and put in a team effort to make it happen.

My hair is definitely different than what I am used to but I love it and would totally be comfortable laying over my hair for any future changes or upkeep to the staff at Jubilee!

*Oh and the level of knowledge is excellent - the different techniques Hayden & Jubilee were teaching to Trish were very interesting and they all seem very keen on continuously staying afloat with the latest & greatest!

Not a day goes by without someone stopping me and asking who cuts my hair. Hayden at Jubilee is by far one of the best stylists I have ever encountered. He really has his finger on the pulse of cutting edge meets classical hair design. I cannot say enough about how impressed I am with the service and knowledge of the stylists there. It's a great experience and worth every penny to look and feel like a million bucks! Kudos Hayden!

Jubilee Studio is one of the best hair studios in the city. The staff is cool, relaxed and very knowledgeable.  Love coming in and seeing my favorite stylist, Hayden, with a big smile and a "nice to see you again". He know's his stuff, he always knows exactly what I want and love the free men's trim between hair cuts. Gold Star for Hayden and Jubilee Hair Studio

I booked an appointment with Linda at Jubilee because I wanted to try something different from the usual chinese/japanese hair salons that I go to. I read positive reviews on yelp and it was also located close by my apartment.

Jubilee Hair Studio is a really small salon, with I think only 3 chairs and  2 wash stations. They also have a variety of hair products such as hair wax, hair spray, lotion, shampoos and conditioners. (I purchased the hair wax and the thickening shampoo and condition!) I booked an appointment with Linda and arrived 10 minutes early so I took a seat and browsed through their magazines- they also had free cookies!

Linda knew exactly what I wanted with the details I gave her. My hair is long, flat and somewhat boring so I wanted to give it a trim and some volume and that is exactly what she did. Not only do I now have noticable layers, my hair feels so much healthier and volumized! She also gave me great tips and advice on how to up keep it which I will definitely put to use!

I have now found my new hair salon and would definitely recommend Linda in a heartbeat! She also gave me the best head massage during conditioning that I have ever had in my life- no joke!

ps- I took a few cards that are worth $15.00 off your first visit to pass out to friends of mine, so if anyone is planning on trying this salon out let me know and i'll be more than happy to give one to you!

My girlfriend apparently didn't appreciate Jubilee like I did but that said, I'm a fan. I don't go regularly, but the quality of the cut and the outstanding service will keep me coming back. The downfall, if any, is that it's a "hair" above an average price. But I'll leave math out of it...

This review has been a long time coming. Before I moved to the Bay Area, I already knew where I wanted my hair cut. One of my favorite bloggers (hi, Holly!) raved about Jubilee on one of her blog posts, and her hair is beautiful. I definitely prefer to try a salon when I love how their client's hair looks. This review will be a review of multiple visits in one review, so sorry for the length!

Last December, I made the trek up to San Francisco from Sunnyvale to try the salon for the first time. I had Emily, and the experience overall was good. I didn't have anything major done -- just some long side-swept bangs and touched up long layers. I was a bit surprised by the small size of the salon, but it was clean and modern.

For my next cut in March, I decided that I wanted to try Jubilee herself, since that's who did the haircut I really liked on Holly. I also had a good experience with Jubilee, and she loved taking me from long to a shorter flippy do. One thing that struck me oddly was that when I paid, someone had put out a row of products that were used on my hair that visit. I felt pressured to buy, and I don't like that feeling. I didn't buy anything.

For my next cut in July, I decided to try an even shorter bob. Again, Jubilee was thrilled to do it. I loved the final result, though it took me several weeks to learn how to style it properly. I was surprised, though, when she shaved the underneath section of hair. She said it was a Bumble and Bumble technique to be sure that the top layers did not flip up in the wrong direction. It felt weird, as my hair has never been that short. Even a week after the cut, I couldn't get my bangs to do what I wanted. No product pushing, though, so that was good.

I'm the type of girl who usually visits the salon once every 4 months or so, but with the shorter cut, it was essential for me to visit after about 6-8 weeks to keep up the look. I went right before my sister's wedding in Sept., and Jubilee listened to what I liked and didn't like about the cut in July. She tried to modify the style so that it would work the way I wanted it to. I have to say that I'm very pleased with how that cut went, and it's been easier to style. I asked her not to shave the underneath portion so that it could grow out. And they didn't try to push the products on me again.

I'm at the point now where I probably need to return and get a trim, but I'm undecided about whether I want to grow my hair out again or keep it short. I will probably return once the shorter pieces underneath reach a comfortable length, then will cut the rest of my hair to that length so that it is even once again.

Please note: One thing I dislike about trekking into SF for my haircuts: the parking situation. There is a lot next to the salon, but it costs varying prices throughout the year. Last time I was there, I think it cost $20. So I've been parking at 1-hr metered spaces on the street for $.25 for 8 or 10 min. Everyone at the salon is helpful in feeding my meter, but I can't help but feel anxious throughout the cut b/c I don't want to get a ticket.

Also, I like the fact that the salon supports charities and hosts events at the salon. I haven't been to an event, since it's a trek to get there, but it's a cool idea.

So that's been my experience at Jubilee Hair Studio so far. I'll probably be back -- just not sure when.

Linda is full fledged and is my GIRL!

I never walk into a salon with a particular look in mind but fully expect to walk out transformed in one way or another. So in other words, I hold a higher expectation to "professionals." That being said, I am so grateful that fate had me discover Linda a year ago.

I was early, so Linda handed me some books to flip through, and as im going so, I'm picking out cuts from different looks and tried to imagine how all the styles would fit on one head. Linda and I talked it over and she got to work.

A few snips here and couple snips there and after a really fancy hair cutting twist flip, i was blown out, and the look I had in my mind was looking at me in the mirror. I couldn't stop smiling. It was EVERYTHING  that I has asked for, and she made it all flow wonderfully together.

My GIRL is a PRO!

Hair + Creativity = Jubilee Hair Studio. What a perfect jem in the city. The staff are the future of hair styling and Jubilee Hair Studio is the best in the west.  This salon not only does hair for photo shoots but they are involved in runway fashion shows. I just saw them work at the Chroma X fashion show and there models looked beautiful. I recommend that people get there haircut done by Shawnte because she is good. Instead of hi-lights ask Shawnte to do this new technique from Paris called Beliage'. Jubilee Hair Studio is the perfect salon because your dealing with professionals with a creative vision.

At my old job, this gal had the most beautiful hair cuts all of the time, and I repeatedly begged her to give me her stylist's number. Once she decided to move out of state, she handed me a slip that just read "Jubilee" with a phone number. I knew I had to go and find out for myself!

Now, I've been going to Jubilee for about 2 years and I couldn't be happier. She and her crew are very friendly and talented. It's a tiny little salon, but they make it comfortable and fun, always making clients feel like guests in their home.

The physical space is very small, with the picture windows acting as the waiting area.  Very informal, relaxed atmosphere.  At times it felt too informal - my scalp got burned by the hair dryer a couple times because the stylist was chatting with the receptionist.  Despite this the stylist was really talented, giving me exactly what I wanted but was unable to articulate.  Overall it was a positive experience, and I will definitely be going back next month.

Heads up: at this time they do not take credit cards, accepting debit cards, cash, and checks instead.

Kelly B. (one of the other reviewers here) is a friend of my ex and when I met her the first thing I noticed about Kelly was that she had a kickass razored haircut. Expertly sculpted, really. This was soon after my hairdresser left for England and so I asked Kelly who cut her hair and she gave me Jubilee's info. That was about 3, nearly 4 years ago, and she's still my favorite stylist ever. She's fully versed in cuts and colors, and knows all the latest trends in hair. I know that she regularly goes to hair shows and conventions to stay above the curve in terms of the latest techniques and technology, so that's always a good sign.

Beyond that, she's a very collaborative hair designer... she's work with you to figure out what will look good on you, and if you don't have a clue, she's got plenty of great hair books (including her own clipping file) and will make a range of suggestions to you.

The only bad thing about Jubilee is that she is ALWAYS booked solid. If you want to get an appointment with her, you'll need to book at least a month or two in advance. Yes, her prices aren't cheap, but keep in mind that a good cut usually grows out very gracefully and that you will likely be able to go longer between cuts.

Five stars for Emily, she was amazing! I was sad to find that she had left. I went back to another stylist and was not impressed. It wasn't a bad cut, but was not worth the price. I don't think I'll go back now that Emily is gone.

I loved that Jubilee fixed my bad bob, gave me a variety of cute styles over the span of about a year, and always was fun to talk to.  She was particularly good at adjusting a hair style over time.  Remembering what she'd done in the past, she could keep elements that had worked and keep refining the pesky parts:

Great flip, but funny around the ears?  Let's try this...

Tired of having bangs in your eyes at work and while at the gym, so you want them longer so you can clip them back.. but still like the short, choppy style that is hip in SF?  Let's try 2 layers of bangs...

Know you are going to travel for a month, so you need the cut to last an extra 3-4 weeks?  Let's adjust it this way so it grows out nicely...

Excellent listener, outstanding technique, and good sense of what will work.  This is what an expensive hair cut should be.

I highly recommend this hair salon. Everyone there is very dedicated to hair. I get my hair done by Emily and she is awesome. Ever since I have started seeing her, which is about three years ago, I always seem to get wonderful comments on my look.

Plus, she is so much fun to talk to while your in the chair. I feel like she is a friend, we are definitely kindred spirits.

Nice people, really.  They had a great and relaxing atmosphere, and it was fun chatting with them.

However, I don't think my stylist knew how to cut asian hair.

I asked for the mullet like style I always get, but usually they razor my hair for that.  I never saw her do that once, and my hair just felt uneven and bumpy.

When I went back to my usual stylist back home, he asked me if I cut it myself because I seemed to have holes in the back  and the layers were uneven :(

at times it feels like jubilee and i have been dating for the past four years.

i have flirted with the idea of cheating on her and letting another stylist touch my locks (i mean, four years is a long time!), but i can never bring myself to actually do it,  i always keep coming back for more,  because jubilee is, hands-down, the best.

she is fabulous with color, knows all the right-this-minute cuts and 'dos, and can make even the most conservative haircut feel like it belongs on a london catwalk.

plus, she is sweet, fun to talk with, and always has good music on.

if you can't get an appointment with jubliee, the other stylists in her salon are fabu as well, esp emily for color (and cuts, too).

I've gone to Jubilee for about seven years, and won't go anywhere else.  She gives beautiful haircuts, and my fine, thin hair is difficult to make look good.  She also does amazing color.  She's done everything for me from semi-crazy color jobs when I was in school to just a rich natural color for my wedding a few years ago, and it always looks fantastic.  Plus, as noted, she's sweet and wonderful to talk to.  I always look forward to hanging out with her for a few hours while she does my color!  I hear the other stylists are also fantastic, as well, but I only have personal experience with Jubilee.  It's a little pricey but well worth it.

Last week, Emily at Jubilee gave me hands-down the best haircut I've ever had. I was a little nervous, since I was a newbie, and had finally sucked it up and decided to go from long hair to very short. Emily was great--she gave me a big glass of wine and talked through what I wanted, how I usually wore it, normal hair routine (none). And she really took her time both listening to me and doing the actual cutting. It took her ages to thin it, but she said that because I normally spent so little time on maintenance, that she wanted to make it easy on me later. Emily walked me through every step of how to style it myself, from straightening to Sumo wax. It looks amazing, and I was totally happy with every part of it.

I heart Jubilee Hair Studio!

Back in the days before yelp, I had posted on craigslist asking for recommendations for a hair stylist that gave great cuts for curly hair (b/c lemme tell ya, curly hair is a lot harder to deal with than straight and if you go to someone who isn't experienced with it you risk coming out looking like Rosanne Rosannadanna).  I got 11 responses and 3 of them all said Jubilee was the bomb for curly hair.  I've now been having my hair cut by Jubilee herself for 4 or 5 years now.  She's great with color (although I haven't gotten any in a few years) and gives a fantastic cut.  In fact, Jubilee gives SUCH a good cut, that I have only had my hair cut twice in the past 3 years.  Seriously - I can go over a year between haircuts and still get stopped in the street by someone complementing my hair.  Now if that isn't a good haircut, I don't know what is!  Jubilee is also super nice.  Parking is kind of a bitch - you WILL be there over an hour so  remember to keep feed the meter.

Emily is the http://Bomb.com. I have been getting my haircut here for almost 2 years. As a dude it's hard to find a good cut without feeling a little out of place, not to mention my hair is really thick and crazy so it can be difficult to cut. I have NEVER been disapointed. Emily is just extremely talented.
