7 reviews for Juanita Beach Park
If I arrive early for my reservation at Cafe Juanita, my favourite Seattle restaurant, I find Juanita Beach Park a nice relaxing place to kill some time.
There is a sandy beach and grassy areas with trees providing shade. I've never gone for a dip in the water yet but there are 2 long walkways stretching out over the water allowing me to get close to the waves but not in them
Perhaps my happy memories are tied into the fantastic meals I have at Cafe Juanita just up the road

A small waterfront beach that attracts mostly families and young people. Seemed decently clean with a good amount of sand and grassy areas. The parking lot was only half full when I went today, but I'm sure it can get pretty crowded on weekends.
The water looked a little sketchy, but then again, the lake water around here isn't usually too clear. Man, I am so jealous of the *real* beaches in California.

I think this is the biggest beach in Kirkland in terms of sand-footage, which is a good thing...but it also means it attracts big crowds, which is not so good. Parking, as mentioned, can be challenging despite the large lot due to the sheer volume of people trying to cool off. Still, this is a huge park - there's a big climbing toy and swing sets for kids off to the north end as well as a "private" covered area for your parties. I assume you have to reserve that space. There's a few of those old-school fixed-in-place stationary bbq stands so you can bring charcoal and grill up lunch if you get there in time.
The large restroom area is moderately clean, and has open showers on the outside to wash off lake residue and any accumulated gunk from the water - duck droppings, aquatic vegetation that tried to grab your legs and pull you under, or whatever else.
There's lots of sandy beach to spread out on, and lots of grass as well, and a large dock encircling a big expanse of water so you're swimming in an enclosed area that's probably 8-10 feet deep at the middle - what there isn't much of is SHADE. On a hot summer day, it's a scuffle to get precious shade under the few trees, and they are set back too far from the water that one can't safely watch the kids from the scarce shade.
If you bring your own sunshade, there's plenty of stores and amenities close by to make this a fun place to relax on a hot summer day!

Totally digusting....
So we just came back from Juanita Beach Park in Kirkland this morning, it is by far the filthiest, nastiest, dirtiest park there is out there!
Despite the weather not co-operating, the beach, the lawn (dried out, unmaintained patches blooming with weeds) was just covered with doggy poo (the park should have doggy bags poles!), one literally have to look DOWN to avoid stepping on feces. Thought we found a perfect spot till my son started digging into the sand - I'll leave that to your imagination as to what he dug out!!! The play sets are lame and a common ground for crows. We hung out for a little while and as we bucketed the kids into the car, a swamp of flies (hundreds of them!) attacked us and many (I killed at least 10) of them flew into our car; 30 minutes later with all the windows down and the sunroof open, we are still batting flies.
It is such a dreadful experience...
I LOVE this "beach",,,
spend ALot of my summers here,,,
althOugh i dO admitt that rather than in sUmer its kinda lOneley in this beach,,, its nice to come and play withthe kids or have a bbq with the fam or friends,,,
sO ama give it a 4 stars!! a negative one because of the amount of people there...
Growing up in Bothell, Juanita beach was one of the closest "real" beaches around. I spent my fair share of time here growing up.
It's gone through changes, upgrades, neglect, upgrades again throughout the years but somehow never changes enough that you don't always feel like you know it.
Swimming here comes with it's own sense of adventure with the seaweed-stuff that grows throughout this area of the lake, and is prevalent in the swimming area. You either try to avoid it, or you accept it and throw gobs of it at whoever you're with while playing in the water.
The swimming area is shallow all the way around the 'board walked' in area. You can pretty much walk from the beach straight out to the docks. My kids love that part...getting to go "in the deep end" without it being deep is a pretty big deal.
Picnic tables, lots of open space, good amount of shade when needed, bbq areas, big play area for the kids, large bathrooms, showers to wash off, etc.
The parking lot is a pretty good size, but parking can be a challenge
Just do to the parks location and popularity in the warm months.
Swimming and hanging out with Delilah, Don and my kids was certainly 5 star fun, but there are cleaner (non seaweedy-water, etc) beaches around, that keep me from really 5 star-ring this beach.
For it's years of fun, easy access, proximity to my house..it's an "a-ok" 3 stars and a place I'll always visit again.

VERY family oriented. Wear appropriate attire!
Atrocious parking during the Seattle summer but that is basically a given.
The water is murky. Think lagoon/swamp with duck fices. It's "safe" to swim in but I'd rather not. I did however wade in up to my thighs and that's about as adventurous I really want to get with my lower half, thanks.
There is a dock surrounding the swimming area and on the other side are areas for boats to come and park. The park part itself is full of areas to play in, with opportunity for volley ball, Frisbee, etc. There are pic nic tables and little areas set up for BBQing as well.
The beach is nice, elongated and has plenty of room for you to sit in the sun with friends and family. There is a huge grassy area and fair amount of sandy beach front. This could be a four and has potential to be five stars but there would need to be better upkeep, less dinginess in that water and more parking availability!
