Since I've moved so many times in the last few years, i've tried a lot of high-end salons and seen a lot of colorists.  Jarred is a AMAZING.  He cured my too blonde highlights and terrible roots.  I had been stuck for about a year trying to blend in these crazy blond highlights - i don't even know how to describe what he did, suffice to say if you have highlights, you need Jarred to take over.  He did them differently (painting them on, aka balayage) instead of foils - and he was truly an artist. I LOVE YOU JARRED and I'll be back.

Also, JD gave me a nice haircut.  I can't glow on and on about it because it wasn't drastic and i need a few washes to see how it wears without her nice blowdry.  But, she was great too.

I went to Juan Juan for a cut and color a few weeks ago, and wanted to wait a few weeks to write a review; sometimes it takes a few weeks to really know if you love your new hair!

I got highlights from Kim, which I was told were going to turn out honey-caramel on my dark brown hair. They looked absolutely gorgeous, but after styling it turns out that they were a bit blonder than I had intended. Luckily, I don't mind how it looks -- but I would be lying if I said that I was completely satisfied with my color.

My haircut, though, was the high point of my visit. Dani is an excellent stylist, and he explained everything he was going to do as he did it. He is a perfectionist, and committed to making sure all his clients are satisfied. I adore my haircut, and recommend him to anyone wanting a great cut.

I have sat and pondered on wether I should write something about my experience and after spending much time, I have decided to do so.

I have been going to the BEST of the BEST salons and hairstylist since I started modeling at  age 15... e.g.  Le Shoppe NJ, Bangz NJ, Blu NJ, Salon Pelardi NJ, Oribe Miami & NY, Warren Tricomi NYC, Tony & Guy NYC & Laguna Beach, Antonio Prieto NYC,
John Sahag NYC, Miano Viel NYC, & Sassoon JUST TO NAME A FEW!!!

New in town (LA!) I did my research and decided to add Juan Juan to my list. I made a consultation appointment with the owner, sat in his chair with Beautiful Platinum Long Blonde Hair and discussed about going auburn with some red tones. He was pleasant and quickly introduced me to Kim who would be coloring my hair. Once colored, I was blown out and noticed the hair stylist had a difficult time blow drying my hair...I thought nothing of it. Once dried, it wasn't exactly what I wanted but it never is when you change your color drastically and this I have a lot of experience with. I have been every shade of red, pink, magenta, black, black with purple highlights, black with blue highlights, black with fire red highlights, platinum, lavender...the list goes on and on.

I kindly thanked everyone and went home. When I ran my fingers through my hair I noticed that it was rough to do so. I simply thought that maybe there was too much product in my hair...Went on with my day and night. The next day after my shower, I towel dried my hair and noticed how dry it was even after using Kerastase Age Recharge Shampoo & Masque. Next I sprayed Logics Leave In Conditioning and Protector and proceeded to comb my hair. I noticed a lot more hair on my comb and still did not think anything. Next, I grabbed my Mason Pearson Brush and proceeded to blow dry my hair...It was difficult and my hair continued to BRAKE OFF AND FALL. MY HAIR WAS SIMPLY FRIED!!!! DAMAGED TO THE POINT OF NO RETURN. I could not believe it.

Most of people would have freaked out...As a Buddhist and as someone who has grown their hair out and cut it all off again to only grow it out again...I did not BUT I was bummed.

I pondered on this experience and tried to learn the meaning behind it and the lesson. Well I came up with A.) I am a Registered Pediatric Oncology RN who tells her patients all the time, who will loose their hair due to chemo, "It's only hair...It will grow back"~~~So I took my advise with a smile. B.) I was going to contact the owner not to complain or request my money back, but to simply have him go through my card, look at the formula which Kim used and correct the mistake and teach her so that she can grow as a hair colorist and learn from her mistakes.

So I called the salon, the owner was busy and I spoke with his manager. The manager apologized over and over again, and stated that he would have the owner call me right back as soon as he was done with his client.

I NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN!!! I NEVER THOUGH IN A MILLION YEARS THAT I WOULD EXPERIENCE THIS AT A SALON AND MOST OF ALL A SALON IN BEVERLY HILLS. TRULY DISAPPOINTED!!!

I suppose it's a bit bitchy of me to give 4 stars because of the price, because the service was PERFECT. Maybe I'm bitter because I may never be able to afford to go here again.

I got an appointment through lifebooker, which has excellent deals for cheapskates like me. I booked two appointments: an eyebrow tint and an eyelash tint, both for half off through Stephanie G. Other natural blondies know how terrifyingly yeti-like our natural blonde eyebrows and eyelashes look without makeup, and I have visions of going swimming without looking like a nightmare-panda when I emerge from the water.

I'm happy to say that I look gorgeous without makeup on. Gorgeous! Stephanie is basically a genius who is perfect at her job. She also cleaned up my brows for me free of charge and offered me a discount if I came back for highlights. She has her own makeup line and has been doing this for years, so its no wonder I look totally flawless. I felt like a princess waking up this morning looking awesome with NO MAKEUP ON.

So why only 4 stars? Because it only lasts 3 weeks, and there's no way I could afford to do this all the time. I may have to find someone comparable on the eastside who'll do this for a lower rate. But if you need the job done right, I recommend Stephanie wholeheartedly. If I had a wedding coming up or another event and needed a flawless face, I would choose her in a second.

I'm **STILL** lovin' my new HAIR COLOR by CARMELA and it's been a few weeks already.

It's almost springtime so I wanted a new look to change things up a bit.  I met CARMELA at a Law of Attraction meeting earlier in the month, and when she mentioned she was a COLOR SPECIALIST, I jumped at the chance to talk to her more.  I really liked her ideas about my hair as we discussed what I was looking for.  So I HAD to make an appointment at her swanky salon in Bev Hills!

Juan Juan Salon, pronounced Jew-wan, Jew-wan (lol, how cute is that, huh?), is located on the corner of Wilshire and Bedford, just a few doors down from Capriotti's. You can't miss the beautiful white building with the large glass windows/doors.   It may be in 90210, but when I walked in, I loved how friendly and warm everyone was! No pretentiousness here!  The decor is sleek, stylish, modern and clean.

After serving me a cup of tea, CARMELA got to work on my locks.  I felt pampered from beginning to end!! I knew I was in excellent hands!!  Ana, her assistant, gave me the most amazing shampoo with massage as she rinsed out the color and toners.  I loved that CARMELA gave me her full attention and wasn't multi-tasking between several customers.  When they rush, I feel rushed, know what I mean?

I emerged from the salon feeling like a diva!! Camela, you are a GODSEND! I always am hesitant to go blonde/lighter because I hate having that tawniness that sometimes happens to Asian people who wanna go light.  I loved how rich and shiny my hair looked when I looked in the mirror.

I was so happy to be introduced to NATALIE, who is the salon's top stylists for haircuts, and loooved how she blew out and styled my hair.  I love that all the stylists are SPECIALISTS at this salon, because frankly, my hair deserves the attention cuz I'm worth it.  :)

    SERIOUSLY!!

My hair was FIERCE when I left that salon!

Thank you Carmela!! I'm still loving my hair!!

Leslie used to be my stylist at Eric Serena (on Robertson). I've known her for about 6 years.  The first time she cut my hair, Linda Hamilton was sitting in the chair next to me. (Sorry, tangent)  I have referred at least 7 of my coworkers to her and they all LOVE her.  I'm not trying to be arrogant cuz it's all bout Leslie, but I've even had strangers at the market or wherever compliment her haircut.

So here are the reasons why she's so great:
    * She doesn't have the "don't tell me what to do, I'm an artiste" attitude AT ALL. She listens and her priority, wholeheartedly is for you to walk out of the salon feeling great, not pressured into something you may regret.

    * I'm pretty anal with my hair. If there is something you're just a leetle not sure about, (seldom happens with her) she'll fix it, no attitude, no offense.

    * I've cheated on her out of desperation. There are some days I needed a haircut YESTERDAY and couldn't get an appt in with her... What's wrong with me for procrastinating so bad? Life just gets busy. Any rate, EVERY single time I went to someone else, I come crawlin back to her, tail between my legs. AND get this. She totally doesn't care, while I've had other stylists in the past make me feel like a loser & completely guilty. They've behaved like a psycho girlfriend

    * Her genuineness and warmness - she's good people

    * Girl knows hair and is meticulous, no matter how much she's gabbing :)

So there you go.  I freaked out when I was living in SF & had to "experiment" at new places up there.  She also cuts mens hair very well too and seems to be popular with da boys.  Leslie, you're the best!

I went to Dani here for my haircut back in March and he is WONDERFUL.  I have found my new favorite hair stylist.  I told him that I was growing my hair long, and he gave me the absolute best tips and gave me such a great cut to help it grow out.  My boyfriend has told me practically every day how great my hair looks...since I went to Dani for my cut!

Long story short: Go get your hair cut here by Dani.

I've had my hair styled here a couple of times but never cut or colored so I can't speak for those services...I can say however, that I was very pleased on both occasions and would definitely go back for a special occasion!!

The nice thing about Juan Juan other than their pleasant and skilled stylists is that they also have a store dedicated to everything PRODUCT!! I mean...lots of shampoos, conditioner, hair essentials...you name it...and it's right around the corner from the salon so it's a one stop shopping experience. :)

Parking can be a pain but most of the side streets have a garage on them which will generally give you an hour or two free...OR...you can always park across the street at Saks or Barney's, buy something there, and get validated!!

These 5 stars totally belong to Yuriy. I read great reviews and really, he is one of the best hairdressers I have ever gotten my hair cut by, and I'm a terrible, self-proclaimed snob.

He started by feeling my hair for a few minutes and then told me he didn't really want to cut it...how's that for honesty. He said he wanted me to grow it in the front so he really just cut it to clean it up.

The way you know a good hairdresser is by whether or not they know what looks good on you and he told me exactly what would look good with my face and how I should wear it. Any hairdresser can learn to technically cut hair, but if they have no vision, forget it!

It was really nice to know that he's not just trying to chop off my hair and get me to come back every 6 weeks. He told me to give it some time to grow and come back for the cut he wanted to give me. I think that's awesome.

And...since he had the time (I was his last apt of the day) he took (and i sh*t you not) and hour and a half to cut my hair. He doesn't rush, even to try to get out of the salon. He could have done it in half hour but he's a ridiculous perfectionist. This may be the first time I've left a salon and didn't feel the need to double and triple check to see if both sides are straight.

Yuriy really is a fabulous hairdresser with an eye for what looks good and talent to go along with it. You wont be disappointed if you go to him. He's great!

Yes, parking is a bitch but whatever, walk a block, not a big deal for what you get.

Oh, and its kind of pricey...Yuriy is $90 for a cut, but seriously, totally worth it.

Janelle Verada rocks my socks!! My girlfriend surprised me and treated me to getting my hair done.  Well, Janelle highlighted my hair and I just LOOOOVE it. Also, she's so effing cool..I was entertained by all her stories.. that even my ADD @$$ could tolerate sitting in the chair for so long. =)

Jenny cut my hair and she did an amazing blowout!! i would definitely come back again.

I took off one star because finding a parking spot was next to impossible.  Other than that..it was a great experience!

I've been here several times and keep being drawn back. I got a cut & color today. I was greeted by a very friendly  guy, Brody, he was very nice & friendly and seated me. Then the owner of the salon, Sean, went over my services with me. I told him my budget & needs and he gave me the best suited stylists. He was very nice and put me at ease. I then had my color done by Kim- she prefectly matched the color I requested- great job! I then got a gorgeous cut by Aimee. She was super nice and gave me exactly what I wanted. Overall a GREAT experience. You can't go wrong here- worth every penny.

You would usually never see me in a place as pricey as this, but I happened to come here because I won a coupon for free color and haircut at this salon. Believe me when I say that when I stepped into this salon, I was intimidated as heccckkkkkk.

But the people were really nice. The hair colorist was quite professional and you could tell right off the bat that he KNOWS how to color hair. I don't know the first thing about hair coloring, so he asked me some questions about what I wanted (something close to my natural hair color because this is probably the first and last time I'm going to color my hair, and I don't want to deal with roots) and gave me some options. Even though the result was extremely subtle, the highlights lightened up a bit after a few weeks and even now, 7 months later, people are complimenting me on my highlights.

After the hair color was the hair cut. I grew out my hair during the summer so that I could chop it all off in any style I wanted. I went with the a-line bob with sideswept bangs. I was really scared about this because I've never done something as drastic as this, but I decided to put my hair into the hair stylist's hands. And she was amazing. After she was finished, she even gave me tips and suggested products that I could use that were more within my price range (hah).

I had a very good experience at this salon and I would go back for another hair cut, but I don't think I can afford it. When I left, the receptionist cheerily told me that I just saved $90 with my coupon and I was like YESSSSS. Haha

This place is the WORST salon I have EVER been to in my life. Maybe it's the guy who cut my hair ("Ramses iii") but he made me look like a soccer mom gone bad. To top it off, I called very upset with the salon and they have yet to make me happy. I will never go here again, I will never refer anyone, and I hope to God no one goes to this snobby salon ever again. WE'RE NOT DOING YOU A FAVOR BY GOING TO YOUR SALON PEOPLE, YOU ARE DOING US A FAVOR BY FIXING OUR HAIR. GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEAD. Never. Again.

IF YOU LOVE YOUR HAIR AT ALL - GO SEE JANELLE FOR COLOR.

The woman is a color GENIUS. I brought in a picture of what I wanted, and she matched it perfectly. Now, I already knew she was the best, because she's pretty well known. But she took my hair, which was a) dull b) lifeless c) three different colors and turned it into gorgeous awesome brilliance. And you know the best part? It doesn't even look dyed. It looks natural, which I'm pretty sure is key in getting your hair done. It's not overdone, and the highlights are the smoothest caramel tones you have ever seen, not brassy at all. Watching her work just blows my mind. She's an artist. She is amazingly precise with everything she does and of course, she mixes the color herself. This woman doesn't just dye hair, she gives you your dream hair. You can bring in a picture, and she will duplicate it.

I went in with way-too-light roots that went for a couple inches sharply transitioning to a deep dark brown, with the last 4 inches of my hair being a lackluster dull black. Instead of stripping all the dark out and doing it that way, she darkened the roots matching the overall color. Then she added in the highlights which brought it all together. She does what's best for your hair, only another reason to love her.

The only downfall of this is, now I'm going to be addicted. It's expensive, but it's worth it. I'm already thinking about 6 months down the road of going lighter. Just because I've always wanted to see what it'd be like, and I completely trust that she will make it work. She gives you hair that works for you, not hair that overpowers you. I was squealing as I walked to my car (which by the way, if you go, park at Saks 5th across the street because, let's face it, in Bev Hills there's never a place to park). I take pride in my hair, and now I have even more reason to.

    JUAN JUAN CENTER--

Bummer that the miracle of Brazllian Blowout had too much controversy. LESLIE stopped doing it once there was even a QUESTION of safety. Just another reason to trust her with my hair. Thanks Les for keeping us safe.

You can always tell a good stylist when your hair always looks great--even when the cut "grows out." LESLIE is a fantastic stylist --even when it's been several months since my last haircut, I still get compliments on how great my hair looks. She also is great at color--she is a real artist with the different colors--it always looks natural and never "over done." Leslie is upstairs in a private room, so it even has a little bit of a "spa" feel since it's away from the hustle and bustle of the downstairs beauty center. She has a great eye and will be honest and will always make you look great.

I came in last evening on short notice with a Groupon and was paired with Sara Whelpton for a cut.  I'm so extremely pleased with the level of service and attention to detail Sara came into the service with.  I have longer hair not thick but there's a lot of it.  Sara asked me what I liked about my current cut and then asked what I was looking for.  I was slightly indifferent about what I really wanted to do and I appreciated her suggestion's.  I also appreciated that she wasn't one of those stylist's that talk trash about whoever cut your hair previously ... it's a pet peeve of mine! She apprenticed at Vidal Sassoon so you know she's be through the ringer on proper technique. I'll go back for sure!

Helllllloooooooo gorgeous! With its posh Beverly Hills address, and its  modern, airy interior, The Juan Juan Salon isn't just another pretty space!
I've never really been to a salon of this caliber before, I'll be honest. This was a luxury experience for sure, but worth it.
I was ushered into a changing room where a fresh supply of robes was hanging, and as soon as I'd changed I was offered a glass of cool citrus water and led upstairs for my shampoo. Katie, the sweet girl who shampooed my hair was super friendly, and really *really* great at the whole head massage thing. The massage, combined with the amazing smell of the conditioner she used had me super relaxed before I even sat down in Danny's chair. (He is super cute ladies, but he has a girlfriend, more about her later)
Danny is a talented man, and serious about the detail involved in creating a great hair cut and style. He talked over my likes and dislikes with me, asked me some great questions that no stylist has ever asked before, and then explained everything he was doing as he did it.
Needless to say, his meticulous attention to detail paid off. I didn't lose much length, and the layers are shear perfection. Exactly what I wanted.
Danny is also an honest man, no Beverly Hills bullsh*t  here. As he was blowing out my hair, he said "Now all you need to do is your eyebrows."  Normally, things like this are said in a condescending tone to encourage an upsell, but he was sweet about it, and totally right. Lucky for me, his girlfriend, Nicoletta,  is one of the best waxing artists at the Anastacia Beverly Hills Salon.  (http://www.yelp.com/bi...)
    Faaaaabulous dahling!

Edit - Damo left Juan Juan and has moved to The Lab. He said there were a lot of stressful people working at Juan Juan, and the reception staff made a lot of errors. I know they had rescheudle me due to doiuble booking on a couple or occasions without his knowledge. I do not reccomend this place, though the colorost (Janelle?) was pretty great.    Call Damo for an appointment at The Lab at 310-497-1019.
    __
I have been seeig Damo for 9 years. I have followed Damo to 4 different salons. He is so amazing that when people offer me free haircuts in exchange for hair modeling, I refuse. He is a lot of fun, you can tell him something vague like "I am working a lot so I don;t want to have high maintenance hair" and he will give you exactly what you wanted. I aways get stopped on the street with compliments on my haircut. Also, he is so good that I only need a haircut every 5-6 months. His cuts grow out extremely well.

Customer service sucks (e.g. at check in, they made me wind my way through the salon to find my stylist, which was a little difficult since I had never met him before).  Parking also sucks because there is none.  (In LA, you deserve minute points for that.)  Ultimately, the single-process color I had done here was good, and I'm glad they sell Kerastase hair products, which I can't live without.  So I will go here again and give it another chance, but consider yourself warned.

I'm one of those people that hops around from salon to salon with no particular loyalty to any salon.  So i'd say I've seen it all and hands down juan juan (danny in particular) did an AMAZING job.  I didnt even know how amazing a haircut can feel and based on how he cut it, it grew out even better!  the 4 stars is only because of the price.  it's def a bit on the pricier side but I'm still going back because it's so worth it!

Suzanne has been cutting my hair for 5 years. She is, pretty much, the only person who touches my hair with scissors. She has given me fabulous haircuts every single time. When my hair was long and curly, she knew exactly how to cut it. When it was just above my shoulders, she made it look great. And now, with my pixie hair cut, she really makes me look good. She offers natural/low chemical/aromatherapy coloring, which I have never done. A couple years back I had asked her to dye my hair red. She flat out refused, for which I am grateful, as it would have looked horrendous. The products she uses are great (the JuanJuan Masque conditioner is worth every penny.) Suzanne is the best!

If you're serious about getting your hair done right, two words: CHRIS TANAKA! He is an amazing colorist and will not let you leave his sight until your hair is perfect. He's professional, listens, is super knowledgeable and will take your hair to levels you didn't know were possible! It's not IF people will notice your amazing hair after he's done with you, it's when!

I've been going to Juan Juan for several years now, but I don't go very often.  This is because I don't need to!  Sean gives me such a great haircut that creates fantastic movement and grows out really well.  So, I love my hair when I walk out, and I still love it months later!  Strangers come up to me and ask where I get my hair cut because it hangs well (and that's not because I'm a good stylist).  Everyone on staff is very welcoming and friendly, and they treat me like a celebrity --- and that's nice when there are real celebs in the salon!
