My Darling Bride and I often eat at Juan. The Monterey Burrito is my favorite.

I ate at this place when it was Uncle Robby's back in my teenage days and back then, big equaled good. Years later, we went for nostalgia's sake; both of us are more or less locals, but that experience was nearly unedible.

Flash forward to more recent times and Uncle Robby's is gone. They still keep that moniker alive, but it's now a place with a borderline (no pun intended) clever name and food that isn't as bad as Uncle Robby's during his twilight years.

I think people still come here, but why? There's WAYYYY better food at other places. Granted, when we first tried Juan's Fiesta, we were sort of surprised at how good it was, "good" being a relative term.

I guess it's okay. It's not inedible, by any means, but...

Okay, the nacho's, one of the things we've ordered, are gigantic. We get the half-order of em. Everything else is okay and if I remember, their gigantic burritos were alright, taste-wise, but I doubt I'd want to commit myself to something so uncertain taste-wise. We usually go there when our memory starts fading and we always leave saying that we'll never come back. So much for consistency, ha!

The restaurant itself is clean and bright, but I've had better-tasting mexican food at lesser looking locations. Basically, it's nothing your abuelita would be proud of.

Your uncle? Maybe...

This place really SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I got sick from eating their Shrimp Tacos. They were so old that even the cook knew about it but still served them to us. I had to call the health department which visited them and found nothing wrong. However, I later learned that the representative from the health department is good friends with them and probably does other type of business with them as well. This is the WORST place to eat. I used to visit very often and then I had my horrible experience. I am sure all the reviewers will at some point get sick too!!!

One thing is to not meet someone's taste but to risk someone's life, this is unacceptable.

If you would not mind paying $5,000.00 in hospital bills, continue to eat at Juan's.

Juan's food is coming out of his a---ss straight to your mouth!!

Great food and great prices! It's good when you can find a place that will make GOOD Mexican food at a fraction of the cost you would pay if making it yourself! Now this place is definitely a keeper!

I found this place by accident driving by. However, this place catered one of my meetings at the USC Alumni House. I was blown away to know it was from a place that caters. Anyhow, I was excited when I drove by this place with my co worker that I stopped off and made him get out to get us a menu.

I've eaten here at least 3 times in the past 7 days LOL

They serve mexican food in the take-out joint and I guess they cater also. I would also say, stick with the mexican food. They do a great job and the food is great. Good value too. If you eat in the take-out joint, they have plasma TVs and a great salsa bar. Everything would have been great except there was an annoying ass regular man that comes there every day to eat and asks me 1,.984,898 questions!!!!!! I think I will be eating in if he is not there, and taking out if he is there! FAST AND FRESH

This is my 2nd home, I was just here on Friday. Seriously, they have the best Mex food ever and thanks to the other reviews, I will only stick to my usuals and not venture out to try their BBQ.

The portions are generous, the service is fast, food is never nervy and prices are low. The wet burrito is one of the best burritos and the nacos are super huge with tons of fixings. I usually get the soft carne asada tacos which have never let me down. I'm not a big fan of rice but it's good here and they serve a small salad with good dressing and beans are great also (I always ask for extra cheese). We always order a side of guacamole... good!!!

There is a self service counter that supplies utensils, condiments and is always clean. They also have chips and salsas (green chili is my fave) out and you can help yourself to more of all these without always asking. They are not stingy with their food, a meal and drink will cost below $10. You serve your own drinks and can get free refills too. They even sell beer!!! You have to try this place, believe me you will be satisfied.

There is plenty of parking available and A/C is always on!!  :)

I went here the other day and ordered the nachos. I got the half order, which is HUGE. The only thing I didn't like was that the cheese wasn't melted on the nachos. So, I went back about a week later and got the monterey chicken quesadilla, which was really good. The chicken was tasty and they put big slices of avocado in the quesadilla. I told the cashier about how I didn't like the fact that the last time I got the nachos  the cheese wasn't melted, he said next time just tell us how you want and we will do it for you.

Uncle Robby's is a naughty, naughty man. Whenever I'm 1 mile away from this place, I hear his voice whisper, " Oh, you come to me and get some tacos or something" and 75% of the time, I listen! (I still have some power to resist!) I really like their tacos here because two of these can fill my petite sized stomach. I also load up on the chips, salsa, and lime at the salsa bar while I wait for my order. I prefer this the same amount as I do King Taco and maybe to some people, that means a lot to them. But, for me, getting to a King Taco isn't really that convenient when I have the pangs of hunger. This stuff is good enough to make me happy.

BTW, Juan Great Fiesta is their catering name...just in case, you're wondering

Never have I tasted a worse carne asada burrito. I feel bad for giving this rating, especially because everyone else has such rave reviews. I've just eaten at so many other Mexican joints that have been better. Rice and beans with hard meat just don't cut it for a burrito. Even the super cheap meat Albertos serves is better than this. My family liked their carnitas burritos and tacos, so maybe I just got one of their not so good menu items. Either way, I probably will never make a special trip to Montebello to eat at this restaurant again.

This place is very clean.  They do have a salsa and chips bar where you can get different salsas and chips.  They have a 99 cents breakfast burrito which is actually pretty good.  The nachos with carne asada are great.  You can feed 2 people with just one full order of nachos!

BBQ Catering Service Review:

The menu boasts...Juan Great Fiesta. Mexican * BBQ* Italian. Everybody wants Juan!

I don't want Juan. I want to wish Juan to the cornfield. Maybe Juan should stick to Mexican food. I just had the misfortune of attending an event catered by this service.  They picked the BBQ party package.  The chicken was pretty generic. It was annoying that the servers couldn't even understand my request for dark meat. "Juan's Famous BBQ sauce" tasted like something cheap out of the jar. The mac and cheese tasted just like Stouffers frozen mac and cheese. And the baked beans tasted canned. What really is bringing down star points here is the gawd awful rolls they used. I am sure I have never had anything more cheap and low quality. They were so flimsy they just crumbled in your hand when you try to use them to scoop food onto your fork.  I couldn't even spread butter on them. They crumbled apart. And the butter was soft and melted. WHO would EVER think these buns are worthy of serving to human beings????  Negative stars just for the rolls. They also served Lay's style potato chips. Lovely. Thank gawd they cater potato chips. That's not something we can all go buy on our own and throw in a bowl. No way. uh uh.  A flimsy potato chip to go with flimsy bread.
My grandma is the queen of low quality cheap food. She would have loved this.  So Grandma, I recommend this place to you. Serve some bologna rolled up in a tortilla with this and you will be in heaven. Everyone else, don't do it. Don't have BBQ from this place catered at your event. Don't embarrass yourselves. Don't embarrass your friends who will look away uncomfortably, unable to meet your eye while they choke down the food.

I would probably stay away from their Italian party packages also. I'm afraid to even try the Mexican food now even though the other reviewers seem to think it's okay. And now I need some true authentic BBQ or some gourmet cheese to erase this emotionally scarring experience from my tastebuds.

Monterey chicken burrito is fantastic. Portions are large, so I always save part for a snack later. Salsa bar has a variety of delicious salsas plus chips while waiting for your order. The atmosphere is comfortable and friendly.

Formerly known as Uncle Robby's. Their nachos are still humungo and food is overall pretty good. I especially like their tostados de camaron. They give you two styrofoam cups which are filled with cut up shrimp, pico de gallo and avocado. 1 cup is enough to cover two tostadas so I'm always full and have leftovers. Fresh salsa bar, friendly staff and a good place to eat in or take-out. I also really like their Monterey Chicken Burrito. Tasty!
