As for the restaurant, i would have to say that everything is pretty good. Nothing really stands out, but I have no complaints....except one. The service is s l o w ............very slow.
I am a fan of their breakfast. You don't feel loaded down after you eat and the all the food feels light. I had a farmers omlet that was very fresh and light. I find most omlets can get a little too buttery and greasy. I did not need to shower after this omlet.
There are a few things I want when I am hungover on a Sunday morning:
1.) Eggs and potatoes.
2.) Minimal walking.
3.) A good Bloody.
JRDN certainly took care of these modest requests; free valet service was provided, the crab cake benedict made me forget that I had consumed my body weight in Jager the night before, and the Bloody would have impressed my crochety old grandma.
Unfortunately, this lovely breakfast managed to take TWO HOURS to get from the kitchen into my mouth. I call bullshit.

The BF and I stayed in Sandy-Eggo last weekend and the conierge sent us to this gem. The view was beautiful, as it sits right on the beach. Definitely a "scene" at the bar, but that was not really my concern.
First let me say that the service from the start was really good. Nice hosts and our server, Peter, was amazing.
We noshed on beef carpaccio, crab cakes, short ribs, ad I treated myself to a nice 16oz. porterhouse RARE. It was so good it didn't even need sauce :) Everything was wonderful, right down to the dessert!
They have a nice selection of wine as well. If you are in PB and looking for a nice dinner, this is the place to go.
Awesome "underwater" vibe, this place is very sleek and modern. It's also situated directly across from the ocean, which makes it all that much cooler. Jrdn is one of few, if not the only, "classy" bar in PB. It's perfect for a date, or just to get drinks with friends. The sushi selection is pretty delish as well.
Beach Chic dining to the Finest!
I really love this place the ambiance is modern but at the same time relaxing, cool, and crisp. I love sitting outside in glass caged seating area because you can enjoy the ocean views and all the hotties walking by ;)
The service is pretty good too and their uniform fits perfectly into the restaurant, they all look very comfortable.
The food is really amazing everything that I have had here is great including the breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have some pretty amazing sushi options too!

They made up for the terrible front desk service at the hotel with the excellent service at the restaurant. A bit pricey but what we ordered was excellent and the view was great. The cheese selection and the bread was fabulous, the best I have ever had, the duck and ravioli was great with the best cream sauce I've ever had, the crab cakes were a bit bland but their mango sorbet was the best I have ever had. Love their wall and cool decor. Beautiful flowers as well. I suggest you go in the day when it is slow and sit in the full restaurant part to avoid the noise and bar scene which gets pretty hairy like a nightclub with the bossy bouncers.

Dinner. pretty good food and dks were fab, best in SD. Service (Jill) was EXcellent. Its a real scene but we sat in wine room and was quieter. We asked if we could go for dks afterwards on 2nd floor roof thing and was ok. Nice but nobby LA'sters there if you know what I mean. Glad we didnt stay here as we like to sleep sometime and anyone near terrace would not be able to do so. Need to go to crossroads a little downtown to hail a cab.
Awesome location overlooking the ocean, pier, and pedestrian walkway. Nice place to enjoy a beverage, people-watch, and relish in the sunshine of PB. I liked the minimalist decor and our bartender was very sweet. As would be expected, a bit on the pricier side.

Food: Mediocre. Especially the lunch
Staff: Overall, incompetent. The bartender do not know how to make a Mojito. Do I blame it on the staff? No. I blame it on the GM who obviously does not care about trainning his/her staff.
This restaurant could be great but has obviously poor leardership.
I love going there for a vodka and tonic and hang out because there is usually a good, fun crowd and it is close to my house.. but other than that... nothing to rave about...
Two words: Dyson Airblade
Holy cow, they have one of these in the bathroom and my fingers have never been drier! Yes, I am impressed by the little things, heh. As for the J to the R to the D to the N, this place seems very upscale San Diego to me. As I'm sitting here at the bar sipping an orange Mai Tai and looking around the place is filled with many a pretty couple, quite a few handsome chaps and I can't help but wonder why they aren't working, hehe. Then again, I am sitting at a bar working, so who knows.
This is just a really great place to come on a nice day and the breeze in my hair, while turning it into somewhat of a bird's nest (seemingly the theme of the day) feels great. Since I'm not much of a beach person, I'm not sure I would come here all the time, but for today it is definitely hitting the spot and enjoyable.

This place is awesome. Great view and great drink selection!
Someone try the stawberry mojito and tell me how it tastes.
Happy Hour is 4-7 like every other place but they have great selections on food as well as drinks!
This place felt as if I lived on the beach eating on my own patio overlooking the ocean. Just breathtaking.

Prime location, designed extremely well, very courteous and friendly staff, Dyson Airblade in the potty....
$4 drafts for happy hour is a pretty good deal considering the venue. Not many happy hour food options, so I didn't order anything. However, I did mooch of Brian K's fries, which were very yummy.

This place is touch and go. It can be ok for lunch and the food isint bad.
The problem is that the staff are typical college kids and not very bright.
I have had good service here and bad service, but then again eating in PB as a whole is like that.
Never been here late at night though so I dont know what its like. I would not wait in line for anywhere.
Eagles dont wait in line,.
A 5-star restaurant in PB? I never thought I'd see the day... Great food, great service, great wine list!
JRDN's is pricey but worth it! It's a great place to dine during sunset. Everyone there is very nice and will make great recommendations if you're open to it. I brought some relatives there for dinner and they said it's one of the best steaks they'd ever had (and they're kinda high maintenance so it probably means a lot coming from them!) We ordered salads, appetizers, entrees, dessert and lots of wine and everything was fantastic.
The bar turns into a lounge-like atmosphere in the evening and is a nice place to go for drinks after dinner. Good place to bring out-of-towners or to impress a date! I'll definitely be returning...
quite bougie for PB but i still liked it...a lot. the bar makes solid bloodies and i quite enjoyed my veggie omelet.
we wanted to sit on the patio but it was a little blustery so we settled on a table inside. still got a lovely view of the water though as it's pirty much glass windows..everywhere. service was a little questionable, but everything else was just fine. very W-eque.

The decor is freakin PHAT city!! Especially when they turn on the lights at night. They also have an outdoor dining area which is on the boardwalk..so the beach and the pier is right there in front of you!
Usually I am like fuck PB, but this place is actually VERY nice!!
The food is pretty bomb and its not too pricey!
You get FREE VIP parking by the way...baller status!! You know fuckin PB parking sucks huge fat donkey balls.
Side note...my party found a glass shard in our water...we told the management and they offered us a bottle of Champagne...I slowly put my 9mm back into my waistband and smiled..

If you can snag a seat for brunch on the patio, this place is pretty amazing. Nice and minimalist inside, amazing view of PB and people-watching outside! Service has always been really nice, I have never experience attitude here. My eggs benedict was delish.
My friends and I got quite sunburned and QUITE intoxicated drinking mimosas because we didn't want to leave!
I'm giving this place a 3 because their dinner service is a 5, brunch is about a 3, and the bar service a 2. Dinner is a class event. I've had dinner here a few times and am impressed each and every time. The menu choices are high quality cuts of meat and fish prepared how you want them. The sides are ecclectic (bone marrow mac and cheese - da bomb!) and delicious. I love the concept and have never been disappointed. Lunch or brunch on the other hand is a mixed bag. I have had really bad Benedict eggs that were over cooked. If I wanted a hard boiled egg with Hollandaises sauce with a slice of Canadian bacon, I was all set. But, alas, I didn't. The chicken sandwich my friend ordered was completely over cooked and dried out. Yet, I have ordered the rock shrimp pasta during brunch and have been really satisfied. I also am wondering if some of the bartenders purposefully think "dick" is a good personality trait. Once I went to the bar at this place with a friend. We were sitting next to these 23 ish chicks. The bartender was standing behind the bar chit chatting with these 2 girls for a couple minutes before he threw us a couple drink coasters -- did not speak to us when he did that -- went back to his admiring his young chicas and then a few minutes later I asked him if he was planning to take our order. He tore himself away, mixed up a couple Bloody's and went back to the girls. The only thing he communicated to us was the cost of the drinks...nothing else. Ummmm, next time you go on a date, Mr. Bartender, how about not be on the clock? Later, after his dates left, he continued to ignore customers at the bar because he was busy alternating between eating fries off a customer's plate -- another lovely lady -- and yammering with his buddies about how he was going surfing later on when he was done work. I say work but I'm not sure he understands the meaning of work. Finally, the bartender at the other end of the bar came over and offered us another round. I've also had other bartenders (afternoon only) completely ignore or forget to come back to serve the customers. On the flip side, I have gone to the bar other times (evening) where the service was personalized and simply great. When my drink was 1/4 full, my new best friend the bartender was there to provide another. If I had a question about a wine, the bartender provided great levels of detail on the varietal and that particular wine.
Anyway, I will continue to go for dinner but think twice about going on a Saturday afternoon for brunch because I know there are other places that can throw down a Bloody Mary and not make me feel like I'm from a leper colony.
sat down with the ladyfriend, got our own menus, waited 20 minutes, no water, no waiter, no acknowledgement of our existence, then we left. It was one of those things I will never forget or forgive and i will never pay hard earned money to eat there. But i did go there once and they gave my friend a pink can of budweiser and we made fun of him for it which was nice.

Awesome decor, but really shitty service both times I've been here (once for lunch and once for dinner). I've dealt with my fair share of bad service in my dining lifetime, but I just can't tolerate it in pretentious places like this, where the upscale atmosphere and menu design are left to speak for themselves.
If I can put a half star, I give JRDN 3 1/2 stars
My friends and I came for restaurant week, and we tried every dish they had on the menu. The decor of the restaurant is hip and gorgeous - the ceramic wave sculpted wall with accent lights made you feel as if you're sitting directly next to an ocean wave. I liked the fact that they offer complimentary valet service when dining at the restaurant.
The restaurant week menu is very appealing. The appetizers (seared scallop, roasted beet salad, crab cakes) had an earthy Bobby Flay-esk feel/taste to them. Entrees, both the braised pork shank and flat iron steak were well seasoned and paired with lovely beds of mashed potatoes/polenta. Perhaps the sea bass was an acquired taste - that is, if you love your entrees to be unflavorful palette cleansers to prep you for a hearty dessert. The fish was a tad overcooked, sitting on an island of large leafy greens surrounded by a sea of watery white beans. And did I mention bland? But their desserts are orgasmically wonderful. The deep dish apple pie or the chocolate dessert are incredible. We ordered a raspberry mojito, and it is the perfect blend of liquors.
I would definitely come back to JRDN for their happy hour and sushi. PB needs a swank restaurant. I'm not sure about the rest of the menu. I would be more than happy to pay full price for the appetizers and the drinks, but I'm not sure about the entrees. While their dishes are good, you can find something similar outside of PB at the same price and perhaps better.
The service was a bit slow. The restaurant was not too busy, but it did take them a while for our orders to be taken, give us beverages, etc. Minus 1 1/2 stars for service, price, and the bland sea bass.
oh, but the DYSON airblade hand dryer gets five stars!!!!!!!!

This place drives me crazy! I have been many times and it seems I keep forgetting how bad the service is. Every single time I have gone, I've had a bad server. They seem completely unconcerned with good service. And the food is overpriced. I went and had 1 sushi roll and 2 glasses of wine and paid $50. All I kept thinking later is how much food I could have got if I had gone somewhere else.
I have now (finally) learned my lesson and will not be going back. There are just too many other places to go that have better service and better prices.

PB has always been fun to me, especially when I visited JRDN when there was a 944 Fashion Issue launch party
the place is really nice, it's overlooking the ocean, then there was that funky glowy piece of architecture on the wall that changes color every minute... when you are a little buzzed staring at those lights as it changes from blue to green seems fun
the female bartender is really sweet, the drinks when i was there were free but i tipped hella a lot just bec the bartender is nice... the hors d' ouvures and the drinks tasted awesome (lack of a better word)
the crowd on that night was young and pretentious, didn't really care too much about them after my first drink... just enjoy chatting with my friends, a lot of beautiful people... but i've seen hotter and much down-to-earth crowd
overall, it was a nice night, met and chat with a few new people... the parking is horrible but other than that I see myself going back here when I move to LA... this is like San Diego nightlife right here!
I've only been here for lunch, and it was a beautiful sunny day.
We were seated right away at an outside table against the glass overlooking the ocean and great people watching. The landscaping right outside of the restaurant is really nice and a lot cleaner than the rest of PB.
I had the lobster BLT, it's pretty good and on a sweet bread, which was a nice touch. The fries were really, really good and I'm a bit of a fry connoisseur. Decent selection of beers on tap. The whole restaurant is nice, modern and clean.
Prices for brunch were really reasonable for a nice place with a view.
Service was great. I know I've only been here once but it was a great experience and I would come back.
(The only drawback I see are the birds that fly overhead if you're sitting outside...some of what they dropped was not to far from where we were sitting and I was a little scared they'd hit my table.)
Sheer SWANK!!! I love it. The wait is a bit long when you get seated but it's worth it. The food is great and the atmosphere is awesome!!
Hip Place, Excellent Food, Great View, Awesome Environment, Perfect for causal lunches & dinners with friends.
entrees & drinks = $60, place to go once in awhile, not all the time.
By far one of my favorite restaurants in SD.
For someone who is very picky about random things, I love that you can create your own salad and you get to fill out a little card with everything you want in it.
The fish is so good, It's nice being able to either pick a fish that the chef has put together with sides and the way it is prepared, or you can create everything yourself. I have never had anything bad to eat here and since I'm in college and unfortunately can't go here every week, I try to go whenever the parents are in town since it's a little expensive.
Oh yes, and cocktails are definitely not lacking either. I had some type of blueberry cocktail with stoli blueberry once that was so good.
Other than the awesome food, the location couldn't be better. If you can try to get a reservation at sunset it's gorgeous.

I actually rate this place NO Stars but it won't post a review unless I click on at least one star! Boycott this place!!! My cousin and I took our 16 year old godson to dinner here this past Tuesday night and the minute we walked in we were greeted with MAJOR attitude from the security guard named "Johnny". He told us to seat ourselves and then came back and told us that we picked the wrong section to sit in so we need to go back and check-in with the hostess. This would not have been a problem except for the aggressive and rude tone he used. He then ripped my godsons baseball hat off his head and kept it saying he had told him to take it off but my cousin told my godson to put it back on since we were on the patio and not inside the restuarant so she thought it would not be an issue. As we walked back out to the hostess we noticed other "white" men with baseball caps on but the security guard rudely told us that there was a reason why they were allowed to wear theirs in the restaurant and our godson wasn't although he never explained why. We decided to go somewhere else to which he responded "Get the hell out of here and never come back!" My cousin had it at that point. She asked for the general manager who never came out to speak to us and we called corporate and are waiting for a response. I spoke to the general manager the next day and she said there was no discrimination and that Johnny can't be racist because his boss is Mexican...WHAT?!? He pushed my cousin out of there when she came back in looking for the manager and I hope for his sake that her neck doesn't continue to bother her. They never gave us the security guards last name -(what are you afraid of) and told me that he works for Brand security which I cannot locate. We have never been treated so poorly ever in our lives and we dine out on a regular basis. My cousin is an assistant vice-president at Wells Fargo and I am a UCSD grad soccer Mom! There are too many other great places in San Diego that treat people with the respect and level of service you come to expect especially when you are used to dining out at upscale restaurants and being treated with courtesy...It is my life's mission to make sure all my friends, colleagues, and associates are made aware of the horrible treatment we received at this place and I hope the word continues to get around to their friends and acquaintances. Stay away from the Jordan restaurant at Tower 23 especially if you don't have the right "look" or "color".

I loved this place.
The service is awesome starting with the guy that meets you at the door, to the waiter and the server, and the waiter even had an assistant.
The food. I started with the seared scallop. Very interesting with some cool sauces. Then I had the sea bass with white beans. Very interesting pairing. Finished it off with a chocolate desert that was just incredible.
This was a fantastic evening. An awesome date restaurant. Of course it is pricey, so be prepared to spend some dough, but your date will be impressed. Even if it is not a date, treat yourself, this place is great!
Definitely one of the most upscale places in PB. Had 20 top dinner here and the staff did an excellent job. Seemless service with great recommendations from my server. I find the ambiance to be trendy, and clean. Location is incredible right on the boardwalk in PB located inside Tower 23 Hotel. They offer a fairly nice wine list with good wine glasses. The scallop and lamb entrees were well liked by the entire table. Also there is free, yes I said free 3 hour valet parking at the hotel which is huge as finding a parking spot in PB can be painful.

Dyson Airblade. Check it out yourself. Don't be a party pooper by going to Google. Just go to JRDN and you will see and feel its sexy prowess.
Kudos, props, high five, whatever you want to call it and whatever tickles your pickle, this place was designed with precision and beauty. It's just so pure and graceful inside. And everything is minimalist in design (not absolutely, but relatively). The wave wall is unique and will hypnotize you.
The waitresses exhibited some butthole behavior. Not in looks but in terms of service. They seemed like they had sticks up their butts. Besides, they weren't even that good looking and what's more annoying than when ugly people exhibit rude, pretentious, "I am better than you" behavior? No excuse for that.
On the other hand, the bartenders, hostesses (there were like 3 at the door at it wasn't even busy), bouncers were extremely nice and accommodating. Really friendly. But then again, I came here after work dressed nicely and not my usual garb of sandals, male thong with banana sling attachment, and a wifebeater. JK. I don't wear wifebeaters. I wear leotards. Don't hate.
The restrooms are minimalist as well and super super duper clean. I am talking about blinding my eye clean that I almost pulled out my sunglasses at 8pm. Maybe it was just that night but nonetheless, I was very impressed. A clean restroom that is designed so well is a major turn on for this reviewer. Screw it, next time, I am ordering from the stall and I will eat my food in there as well.
Very strong mixed drinks I was told by my friend. I just drank beers and there were about 6-8 varieties of good stuff: Stone Smoked Porter, Stella, etc.
FYI: no patio seating unless you order food and you must order from the restaurant menu and not the bar menu. If you order from the bar menu, you must go inside.

Seems like it could be promising upon entry....sleek, trendy decor right on the beach. However, definitely over-priced considering both quality and quantity. The ahi tartar was about the size of a two-inch diameter hockey puck. It came with a couple of Lays-ish potato chips. Scallop entree was 3 scallops, 1/2 artichoke heart and a tiny pile of crab risotto.
The menu really erk-ed me too. If you're going to go for good food, isn't it the chef's responsibility to determine what goes well together. Both the salad and entrees were of the "pick your base, sauce and add-ons" variety. Sorta like we're at a buffet and not paying for $30 entrees. Maybe i've got weird taste in drinks (or just different from a san diegan) but most cocktails here were super-sweet and fruity. Service was fine. The waitress was nice but could have used some ritalin.

I guess I have a reason to go to PB now. Frankly, it scares me a little... but I do love JRDN. Great space and nice patio dining by the water. The food is solid. Really good by SD standards. It's simple, but welldone. Can't wait to try a brunch here!
Update: I finally ate brunch here. It was darn good. I recommend the crab benedict. Great people watching on a Sunday morning - there's a surprising amount of weirdos in this town.
I would give it zero, but i'm not allowed. i am amazed at how many good reviews this place has. i have tried over and over again to like it, because the decor and ambiance reminds me of places that i would go in miami. sometimes my high maintenance ass needs some classy places to go to in a city that seems to be filled with nothing but dive bars, but that is not my point. my point is, this place sucks. they need way more people behind the bar serving drinks. EVERYTIME i've been there i've had to wait at least 20 mins to get a drink. besides that the bartenders all seem to have a pretentious attitude which frankly doesn't fly with me in chill SD. people in NYC or MIA don't even act that rude.
i will never go here again.
as for the food, i wouldn't know, never got that far.

Easily one of my top five favorite restaurants in San Diego!
JRDN was recommended to me by my organic food-loving chiropractor (who eats dinner there several times a week) and he most certainly did not lead me astray.
The location right on the water is excellent (sit on the patio!) and with complimentary valet parking you need not deal with the parking nightmare that most other PB restaurants enjoy.
The calamari is superb (but ask for the sauce on the side), as was every single sushi roll I tried. I wanted to love the lobster BLT--which was still good--but it was not quite as good as I'd hoped. Nevertheless, with so many other yummies on the menu and a list of well-made cocktails and decent wines to choose from, I am more than satisfied and will be a frequent visitor well into the future.

I brought my two out-of-towner bosses here (yes I have two!)
JRDN has great ambience, chic food, and hip servers. I really enjoyed the Pacific Arctic-Char, and all of us loved the appetizer cheese plate.
Here's what bugs me about JRDN though...it's the attitude of the place, mostly by the staff but also by some of the patrons. I'm too ugly to be going here regularly I think, that's kind of the vibe I got in general, despite the wide mix of clientele.

Atmosphere is a 5 but food was a 3 or 3 1/2....same with the service. Came here for lunch......It is right on the PB boardwalk, so overlooking the ocean. A good alternative to C lounge or George's....but the food isn't quite as good. The calamari was pretty good as was the tomato soup, but the Seafood cobb salad was NOT good at ALL!! Looked like 10 day old chicken and scallops.....on a bed of over-saturated dressed lettuce.
However the drinks were awesome and you are overlooking the ocean so that is the reason for the 4 stars. I guess I am being generous.
hmmmm, i'm torn with JRDN. i always think i love it so much, but then i'm never really that satisfied with my meal. i think maybe it used to be better. last time i went there for brunch, my coffee had this weird "termite-looking-dust" floating around in it. i showed it to the server and it took her 10 minutes to get me a "fresh" cup (which had a little less of the weird dust in it). how do you not notice something like that when you are carrying it to the table?
you couldn't ask for a better outdoor seating area. it's really the only restaurant on the boardwalk that i would eat at (except for ice cream at one of the stands).
the atmosphere is great, they just need to amp up the food and service a little bit...
