Based on YELP reviews, we booked Joy May Photography, without meeting with them (we live in NYC).
At the event they were very professional. They read the crowd perfectly and kept the shooting when it was appropriate. More than one guest commented on how respectful the photographers were.
The images were very cool! Bright and magical! They prove we had a great time at our wedding!
Photography was under $2k for our 7 hour package, a very good deal for wedding photography that provides all images and copyrights.
*COPYRIGHTS? Whats that? Very good question....better google that.
Joy May did the photography for my wedding, and I can't recommend them enough. With the DVDs and the copyrights we saved so much! The formal photos came out great with the help of a liaison, which they recommended. What a deal for only $2k. They exceeded our expectations.
The photos are clear and bright. Some enhanced to look like a magazine cover. They were kind, patient and unobtrusive. They managed take some great candid photographs. We did have to add 2 hours because the 4 hours was not enough time to cover our event. My bridal party and family commented after the wedding that the photographers were very professional.

We were looking for an affordable photographer with experience. We didn't want fancy albums, or "packages" - we wanted our images and copyrights and some enhanced images.
After reviewing several photographers, we decided on Joy May Photography.
We booked six hours and received two photographers and a free engagement session-highly recommend! Do the engagement photos with him first. If you aren't a supermodel who is used to having someone take pictures of you, it can be a little embarrassing at first to have someone with a camera in your face. Our engagement session was a great time to learn about which angles and poses are best, and how to be comfortable with the camera so that your wedding day photos are extra special.
We love our Wedding pictures! We really were delighted with the candid pictures along with the posed ones. We are very proud of our pictures! Our photos were as good as the ones we saw in some magazines! We were very pleased. They were a pleasure to work with!
$995 Wedding Photography is a great deal!
Joy May photographed our wedding and we loved them! Their demeanor is professional and unobtrusive.and calming-just what I needed on that crazy day. We have referred them to four of our friends in SF. BTW-We received the copyrights title-no photographer does that!

When looking for a wedding photographer, I'm mainly looking for quality of work versus price. So the trick is to find artists who are extremely talented, but are not super well known yet- so they do not charge $10k per wedding.
In the Bay Area , Joy May Photography is such a photography company.
Joy May Photography posts the terms of service online -so there are no surprises. You can book online with a credit card. If you want a great price (under $2,000) and professional images, with quality service they are for you. I found them for our wedding and I am so glad they were available.
I have nothing but good things to say about them...the quality of the work is amazing, they are completely professional and personable from beginning to end. The work was delivered in a very timely manner.
On the wedding day, they showed up on time, and even knew the wedding schedule better than we did! Joy May also has the perfect balance of getting the formal photos done, while talking to us in a calm and patient way. With so many other things that can go wrong on your wedding day, it is a blessing to not have to worry about your photographer.

My husband and I used Joy May Photography for our wedding and we are ecstatic with the results! They made everyone including my picture hating mother comfortable.
